Intro

Hai guys this is my 2nd build on MOBAfire and it is about Olaf. he is a champion who depends greatly on health and damage, therefore he is a Tanky dps champ. He is an awesome champion as his passive makes him have more Attack Speed the less health he has, so if you combine his W Tough It Out then he can lifesteal all his health back while using his E Reckless Swing to take down tanks and other assorted healthy champs. Olaf is an awesome champ who is definately worth playing. word of warning this build hasn't been tested in ranked play so use at your own risk. Any way have a good time reading my guide and also if you have feedback just comment in the comments section below. Criticism is allowed as long as it is to help my guide thanks.

WARNING!!!!!

This build is not like a bible, do not follow it directly because it all depends on the game you are in, for example you could be getting owned in your lane and everyone on the enemy team has 1 or 2 more items than you and you get a Bloodthirster instead of say a Thornmail it would be very stupid of you.

The story behind the Skandian

On an uncharted continent beyond Valoran's grasping clutches, the conqueror named Olaf was born to a long tradition of soldiers unlike most others. Berserkers, as they tout themselves, are warriors who channel fury deep from their cores, unleashing pure and savage wrath upon their enemies. This fearsome evolution is a product of their unforgiving home, Lokfar - a barren tundra where all creatures must vie bitterly for every resource. Olaf belonged to a seafaring clan known for ruthlessly pillaging any and all villages within reach of their dragon-crested longboats. The last time he saw his icy home, Olaf was embarking on an expedition to pioneer and plunder a distant land known only to legend. However, while underway, a terrible storm sprung up and Olaf and his crew were thrown to the mercy of a roiling and pitiless sea.

His ship destroyed, his crew nowhere to be found, Olaf miraculously washed up untold miles from ''friendly'' waters on the foreign shores of Valoran, south of Demacia. This unfamiliar place stunned and frightened the Berserker, for Lokfar is not privy to such potent magicians. Approaching them, Olaf hoped that they could use their mysterious powers to send him back to his people. A bargain was struck. Olaf would use his awesome prowess as a warrior to serve the unusual wars of Valoran in the League of Legends, and in exchange the sorcerers would find him a way to return. Despite his participation in the League, Olaf knows better than to trust the ''finger wagglers'' that run the Institute of War. He deliberately keeps details of his life and home from them. After all, with enough information, they would most certainly find the Lokfarians and dominate them as they have dominated all of Valoran, keeping both quietly -- and unwittingly -- in their thrall.

Beware the war cry of the Berserker. What surges toward you is unyielding, free from the shackles of reason.

Pros / Cons


Pros:
-has great damage with his E Reckless Swing early game.

-once he has health his W Tough It Out will have a lot of damage.

-ealy game is when he shines best with his E.

-If you have a good early game then you will have a good rest of game.

-His E has TRUE DAMAGE, basically you will shred tanks early game

-His passive is awesome.

-his name is Olaf, what more is their to say.

-His Ulti basically negates the effect of CC, its great.


Cons:
-His true damage costs Health.

-If you do well u will start to get focused :(

-Is item dependent and team dependent/minion dependent as well.

Summoner Spells


i take this spell if their is a pesky enemy that keeps getting away from me whenever i E them and they manage to get away from me, or if you have a troll Janna and she pops her Ulti and they get pushed away. (it sucks so much). this is a great choice for all people over lvl 7.



This is one of the best summoner spells in the entire game, there is no argument, this will help you get out of ganks or if you need to steal baron nashor or something like that then this is your spell.


Alternative Summoner Spells




this is a good spell for Olaf as it will slow them and reduce thier damage, this spell will help you hit you Undertow and then you will be able to unleash your rage against them.


This spell is a worthy replacement for Flash, although i do not regularly choose this spell because i like to use flash to get out of ganks and other things like that.

anything else should not be used (except for Smite, but thats for jungling)

Runes

The Runes I get are:
Mark: For Marks i get the armour penetration, for those pesky tanks that have their runes in early game when they have their 49 or so armour and magic resist. The second set of Marks are the attack damage runes so that i can deal extra damage and kill them faster, also it will help me get the last hits easier.

Seal: I get the health Runes because Olaf can be quite squishy early game and it will help you survive more fights and make it easier to use your E. The second set of seals i get are the armour runes so that if you are against enemies that can kill you really easy using AD. The third set of runes that i get are the health regen per 5 seconds, these runes will really help you in the long run and they go really well with your Dorans shield.

Glyph: For glyphs i get the Attack speed so that i can attack more faster and it works really well with your passive Berserker Rage as it will make you dominate more. The second set I get are the Attack damage runes because again they will help you have more Attack damage and own more people.

Quintessence: For Quints i get the Attack damge Quints as they are really helpful for Olaf. He will destroy his enemies with these Runes.

Masteries

With my masteries i get the 21/9/0 build,
in the offensive tree, i take the Attack Damage and the Attack Speed, the damage increasing masteries and the armour pen and the extra damage under 40% of health.

In the defensive masteries i take the Armour and Magic Resist, Durability and the tough skin and upgrade to the minion damage return.

I take nothing in the Utility tree.

Items


I get this item because it gives me armour, health and health regen, all in all this item is great on Olaf as it will make you survive way longer than you would think, do not underestimate this item.


I get these after my doran's so that I can have some movement speed to get back to my lane and so that I can escape from skill shots from Ezreal or Caitlyn, anyway this is a good item to get early,


this item will help you get more Attack Speed and it will work well with lifesteal and your passive.


these boots are a great choice for Olaf as they work in synergy with his passive and give you lots of Movement speed.


This item is great in early game as it will help you use your Reckless Swing more and it will help you stay alive for a longer period of time.


this item will give you more damage and will help you last hit easier as this guide is actually quite expensive, so make sure you have lots of last hits.


this is where the kills start rolling in, this item will make chasing much more easier and willl give you lots of health for you to survive the enemy champions counter attacks. This item can either be built into a frozen hammer or Trinity Force.


this item is a great addition to Olaf as it will give you more health, therefore that means you will get more AD from Tough It Out and you will be able to use Reckless Swing much more as well.


in answer to the question previously I take the Frozen Mallet and I make everybody else my *****es (sorry for the language) this item will slow on every hit *_*, will give you more AD AAAAAND will give you more health YAY!!!.


I take this item because it gives me more lifesteal and with my passive makes me nigh impossible to kill, unless they use 2 or 3 people to kill me. I know what your thinking, a vampiric scepter this late?, well, my friends the reason is that I have my Tough It Out and that gives me lifesteal and spell vamp. Although i sometimes get Vampiric Scepter after my berserker greaves


This is a great item and it will most definately help you to dominate as Olaf it gives you 45 AD and with that damage comes more damage as you will own butt. nuff said


this item will make you smash all other champions, by this point you should have a few kills so I recommend farming up your minions to get this to its full stacks, it may take a while but it is worth it, trust me.


this item will make you deal more damage quickly, sorta like the dagger but better because it gives crit and Movement speed, AWESOME.


pretty much the same as the last dagger, I guess.


this baby gives you 18 crit chance, may not sound like much but boy will it help you. It will make you hit harder.


This absolute beauty of an item will help you so much, its not funny, its hilarious. This item will make you wreck the other team, I mean who doesn't want lots of crit chance, heaps of attack speed and some, not alot of Movement speed. (except if your AP)


again will help with the health factor and staying alive longer.


this item is a beauty, it gives you Health regen and although it isn't that much it helps alot.


Well, where do I begin. This is one of the best health/tank items EVER, i mean it is truly awesome, it helps you so much and gives you so much health, it is what makes you have over 4k health once fully stacked it is awesome.


this again as I explained earlier is a great item.


This is my all time favourite item on any AD champion, it gives crit chance, Attack damage and 250% critical strike damage. Great item, thank you riot for making this item.


this item is pretty nifty, extra 45 armour pretty good don't ya think.


Ok, so basically this Item gives you armour magic resist and the passive is great, but lets talk about the armour factor, if your were vsing a heavily AD orientated champ like Talon or Xin Zhao then this well help a heaps. it also gives you some Magic resist so, if oyu were up against a Le blanc or Ahri then this will shut down their power pretty quickly. The passive is absolutely great at giving second chances, downside is that it basically gives your position away. If you are having trouble then get this item earlier.

Situational Items

Okay, situational items are great when the game isn't going your way, for example, if that pesky Malphite or if that Shen keeps getting away without you actually killing them. These might help:


So these boots are great if you are up against a heavy AP damage champ in what ever lane you are against and it will also help of they have a lot of cc because of the tenacity in the passive. all together these boots are great to replace the berserkers greaves.


Okay so basically this item is really good because it gives you a shield if you were to take fatal damage from a spell and it also gives you the great benefit of having more damage the less health you have. So combine this with the Warmog's Armor and you basically will destroy, oh and it also gives you MR if you are lacking it.


This item is a great replacement for the Bloodthirster, it gives great bonuses like giving you the chance to do more damage the more health they have, "so go ahead Dr. Mundo build health...". and it gives lifesteal and damage so it's always a good addition when they start building health early.


The rework of this item is practically the best way to make Olaf more OP if he builds it and also if you were to use Reckless Swing and then basic attack it will be a great combo to use against Jarvan early game if you build it straight away.

Skills

: For each 1% of health missing, Olaf's attack speed is increased by 1%.

this passive is truly awesome as it will make you attack people so fast when on loww health, if you have lifesteal then Olaf will not likely die. He will most likely kill everyone, unless he gets bursted down by like LeBlanc or something thats just really annoying.

: Olaf throws an axe to a target location, dealing 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+1.0 per bonus attack damage) physical damage to units it passes through and slowing them by 24 / 28 / 32 / 36 / 40 % for 2.5 seconds. If Olaf picks up the axe, the ability's cooldown is reduced by 4.5 seconds.

This ability is awesome when ganking as it slows the enemy while they run away from you i fear, but the best part of this ability is that if Olaf picks it back up the cooldown is reduced, HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!.

: For 6 seconds, Olaf's attack damage is increased by 7 / 14 / 21 / 28 / 35 base damage plus 1% of his max health. While active, Olaf gains 9 / 12 / 15 / 18 / 21 % lifesteal and spell vamp.


This ability combined with his passive is what makes Olaf a truly awesome person to play, it is an amasing 1v1 skill as it will basically give you heaps of survivability and Attack Damage.

:Olaf deals 100 / 160 / 220 / 280 / 340 true damage to his target and inflicts 40 / 64 / 88 / 112 / 136 true damage to himself.

This is seriously one of the best skills ever, this skill is what makes Olaf dominate early game as it does true damage and is basically like garens Ulti except you can use it every 5 seconds, downside is that it costs health, hence the name Reckless Swing

:Passive: Olaf has 10 / 20 / 30 increased armor penetration.
Active: Breaks any crowd control effects. For 6 seconds, Olaf is immune to disables and gains 30 / 45 / 60 armor and magic resist.

This Ultimate is basically your GTFO skill as it breaks all crowd control effects on you and gives you some Armour Penetration as well. If someone uses Exhaust on you, just pop your ult and run away or fight, your choice.

Okay hi guys welcome to my skill sequence thingy... onwards
I get my Reckless Swing first because if I am vsing a squishy person or someone susceptible, I like to I know I have some damage. I like to max my E first by level 9. I get Undertow at level 2 but I usually max it last, why?, because I mainly use it for utility and I guess it just works for me. I get Tough It Out at level 3 and max it second, why?, because I like to have that lifesteal factor early and because I like the skill better than Undertow. As usual I max my Ulti Ragnarock at lvls 6/11/16.

Tips and tricks/combos

Combos


Q,E: pretty standard harrass combo drops people though.

Q,W,basic,basic,E,basic,E: this combo will usually leave enemies pretty much screwed, of course they will try and fight back, but who ami kidding, your Olaf.

Q: this is just a poke for early game, when you just cant get close enough to the enemy.

Q,E,W,basic,basic,E: this combo is for when the enemy is usually below 60% health and it will kill them pretty quickly.

Tips and Tricks



-Use your Ulti to get out of sticky situations, e.g. you got exhausted.
-try and throw your [[undertow in front of the enemy so that you can pick it up while chasing.
-use your W Tough It Out to help you get through the jungle or when you are low on health to get back up.
-when you get on low health use your W Tough It Out to get your health back against enemy champions.

Gameplay

Early game:


Okay so you just loaded into the game, you get your Doran's Shield to start things off and then you run to your lane (whether it be top or bot, you would be crazy to go mid). this is when it gets tricky, wait in your brush until the enemy minions are in the lane fighting yours or you can run into the other brush and face check, not recommended if your new to Olaf. start farming on the creeps and play passively until lvl 3, poking with Undertow to stop them from getting your minions. Once you get to lvl 3 you can start fighting them and helping your jungler gank. when you hit lvl 6 or 7, you should have 1 or 2 kills if not thats okay, just make sure you have farmed up creeps. Unfortuanantly Olaf does not have any fancy escape tools except his ult+flash. Early game usually ends when you are lvl 10 or when the first turret in your lane falls.

Mid Game


You should have your Phage and Giant's Belt, and a few kills, if not then you are doing something wrong or you have no map awareness. keep pushing your lane and taking out turrets where you can and regularly going back to base and getting items in your build, by lvl 12 you should have 100+ creep score and at least your Frozen Mallet keep advancing toward your Bloodthirster and your Phantom Dancer as these will help you smash people. by about lvl 16 you have upgraded your Ragnarock to lvl 3 and will have hopefully pushed them back toward their inhibitor turret. Mid game will usually end when you are lvl 16.

Late game


you made it, late game where you should be completing your build by working on your Warmog's Armor and your Infinity Edge. unfortunately this is when you will die the most because the enemy team will have built up their build and will be able to do some damage to you but hopefully you have done well in early game and will be a lvl or 2 higher than them, if not then you might as well /surrender, cuz this is when the good players can beat the absolute living rage out of you because they will usually have chosen late game champs, Olaf is primarily an early game champ. DO NOT go out by yourself when late game starts as you will die because late game is when the enemy will start grouping together and will kill you very quickly. Try to get a baron or 2 if you can and always get dragon whenever it respawns. hunt down enemies in groups of 2 or 3 and watch the rage chat fill your chat box (so annoying)eventually the game will end and you will have either won or lost , it is up to you whether you would like to have played well.
