Introduction

Welcome to my Pantheon jungle guide.

8===DThis is my first guide on the site, and the reason I made it is because I felt there wasn't a guide out there for jungle Pantheon that met my play style of him, and after playing this-

-game where I carried even with tank items, I felt motivated to write one. I used to write guides for other games various forum sites, and I'm freaking thrilled that mobafire has a user friendly layout to make guides. Let's get started people who scroll past the cheat sheet.

About me

8===DI only recently got into playing LoL around December 2012 and now I main jungler when I play PvP. As far as personal life goes I'm majoring in computer science, work every day, and in my spare time play league and then different games after bad matchmaking.

Runes

Seal of Armor Armor seals are the best option to go with, and that can be said for most builds. The second best choice would be Seal of Health, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist Same situation as the armor seals. I wouldn't even recommend a different glyph.

Mark of Attack Damage Now this is where you get to personal preference. Pantheon benefits most from AD. Other options likes Mark of Attack Speed are good choices on champions like Nocturne, but Panth is too busy jumping on people to benefit from other types. The second best choice would be mark of armor penetration if you don't plan on building Black Cleaver or Last Whisper

Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage Same situation as the marks, but even if you use armor pen marks I'd keep these.

Optional Masteries

8===DThese masteries might be a safer choice. The reason I choose to go 21/9/0 is because it fits Panth's playstyle more, especially that Executioner / Heartseeker Strike passive combo. If you are new to jungling or need to tank for you team, choose this order.

Skill Explanation

Aegis Protection
After attacking or casting spells 4 times, Pantheon will block the next normal attack that deals more than 40 damage to him.
8===DA great lane passive, not so great in the jungle but still can save your life. You can block a turret shot if used wisely, making some interesting plays available.

Spear Shot
Pantheon hurls his spear at an opponent, dealing 65 / 105 / 145 / 185 / 225 (+1.4 per bonus attack damage) physical damage. If Heartseeker Strike has been leveled up once, Spear Shot will crit to deal 150% damage against opponents whose current health is below 15% of their max health.
8===DThis is basically a lock-on Nidalee spear that can guarantee a critical hit when the target is low health. With a base cooldown of 4 seconds, you can use it at least twice in a gank, with the second hopefully granting a kill.

Aegis of Zeonia
Pantheon leaps at the target enemy champion and deals 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+100% of ability power) magic damage and stuns them for 1 second. Pantheon also instantly refreshes his Aegis Protection
8===DYour utility skill. A jump with 1 second stun at all levels, and a free Aegis Protection refresh. Sets up your Heartseeker Strike as well, leaving to an easy gank.

Heartseeker Strike
Passive: Pantheon gains 100% critical strike chance against targets below 15% of their max health.

Active: Pantheon channels for 0.75 seconds and deals 3 swift strikes in a cone in front of him. Each strike deals 13 / 23 / 33 / 43 / 53 (+0.6 per bonus attack damage) physical damage, and they deal double damage to champions.
8===DThe passive on this is amazing. Stack it with a Infinity Edge and you're guaranteed a kill. It counts for both your basic attacks and your Spear Shot, couple that with the Blade of the Ruined King passive and you have a dead Volibear at your feet.

8===DAs for the active, it gives nice AOE damage. Helps clear the jungle and take down the enemy champs health. Be sure to use it wisely, it's not worth losing a chase over some damage.

Grand Skyfall
Pantheon gathers his strength channeling for 2 seconds and then leaps high in to the air, crashing down at the target area 1.5 seconds later. Deals 400 / 700 / 1000 (+100% of ability power) magic damage to units at the center (down to 50% at the edge) and slows them by 35% for 1 second. If the channeling is cancelled, the cooldown is reduced to 10 seconds.
8===DA great ultimate, and one that can be used in all sorts of situation. You can backdoor, escape, initiate, gank, team fight, and do more with it. Note that it takes a total of 3.5 seconds to use, so make sure you place it in a nice location. Think about using it to initiate the gank or catch them at 10 health. Also note that you can stop it for a 10 second cooldown penalty, so don't be afraid to cancel it or even use it to get away.

Skill Sequence

Here is the discussion post I made showing the difference between your Q ( Spear Shot) and your E ( Heartseeker Strike)
Quoted:
Let's assume we're at 70 bonus ad and at max rank for both skill, Spear Shot would do 323 damage before reduction and Heartseeker Strike would do 95 per strike for a total of 285 damage. At rank 1 with let's say 70 bonus AD you would have 98 damage on your Q and 55 damage per strike on your E for a total of 165 damage. And in the middle at rank 3 with 70 bonus AD you have 243 damage on the Q and 75 per strike for a total of 225 on your E.

Now of course with different amounts of bonus AD this would all be different, but then when it comes to cooldown your Q is on a constant 4 second, while your E comes from 10 to 6 seconds. Your Q is up 2.5 times/2 times/1.5 times faster than your E at ranks 1/3/5. Of course the AOE damage on the E could make up with clear times, but don't forget that your Q can crit under 15% max health.

I didn't forget that Heartseeker does double damage to champions, so yes when you look at burst E outshines Q, but when it comes to ranks your Q does 160 more damage at 5 than 1, and, at double damage to champs, your E does 80 more damage at 5 than 1. Also don't forget the scales on the bonus AD, Q has 1.4, over two times more than your E's.

I still feel that it's worth it to max your Q first, for both its great scaling and the crit strike at under 15% health.

Item Choices

Mobility Boots Vs Boots of SwiftnessVs Ninja Tabi
8===D Mobility Boots are amazing boots on Panth. His base speed is 355, so these boots would bring you up to a nice 451(not 460 apparently) when out of combat while Ninja Tabi bring you to 400.

8===DNearly the same deal with Boots of Swiftness. Brings you speed up to a constant 415, with a slow resist that couples nicely with your Spirit of the Ancient Golem. I would choose this when you're up against a comp that constantly slows you. Think Singed and a Darius holding a Frozen Mallet.

8===D Ninja Tabi grants you some armor and a nice passive. The only times I would take this is when a Draven has 15 kills and is at your inhibitor or there are at least 4 AD oriented champions on the enemy team. Think about who is getting all the kills on the other team.

Wriggle's Lantern Vs Spirit of the Ancient Golem
8===DI personally prefer the Spirit Stone/ Spirit of the Ancient Golem over Madred's Razors/ Wriggle's Lantern

8===DIf you choose the Wriggle's Lantern path, you get some easy armor and lifesteal as well as a free ward. Most of the time I don't finish wriggle's whenever I jungle in general, but that's my preference. This is a great item especially for beginners, if you're not confident in your jungling skills go for this.

8===DIf you choose the Spirit of the Ancient Golem path, you get cooldown reduction, health, mana and health regen, increased monster damage, and tenacity. These all work great on Panth, the health alone makes it worth your time. I'm a little upset Riot took the armor off the item, but it is cheaper now and gives CDR so I can't complain that much. I find myself building this on a lot more champions nowadays, and this is no exception to Pantheon

Last Whisper Vs Black Cleaver
8===DI don't really consider Pantheon a DPS AAing champion like good ol' Nocturne, so choosing Last Whisper is usually the better choice when you find yourself being most of the damage output. It gives a noticeable boost to your Spear Shot damage.

8===DAs for Black Cleaver, I usually build this when I need to build tankier or find myself not carrying and assisting my team more. It gives health, CDR, and directly applies armor penetration to the target rather than calculating it your attacks.

Jungling Route

This is my usual jungling route for most champions. It will get you to level 4 and allow you to use Smite and on both the ancient golem and elder lizard .

*This is for the blue side of Summoner's Rift, mirror the image if you're on purple side.
*Circles designate ganking opportunities.
1.
Start at wolves with your Spear Shot, ask for a leash from your nearby lanes.

2.
Bring your leash north and Smite the ancient golem when he is at or under 490 health. You will get the blue buff which grants CDR and mana regen. Take Heartseeker Strike next.

3.
Head over to the wraiths and clear them.

4.
Go back to the wolves . If they are not there wait a second or two, you probably had a good leash if they're not immediately available. Now take Spear Shot if you aren't planning on getting level 4 in the jungle, otherwise take Aegis of Zeonia.

5.
Now it's time for the second buff camp, the lizards . Smite the elder lizard when it is at or under 550 health, just in case the enemy jungler decides to try and steal it. The red buff will grant you a small DOT with true damage, and a small slow which will assist your ganks.

6.
Back to wraiths where you will get your last point, put it into Aegis of Zeonia if you took Spear Shot third. Now you should look for a gank, I tend to go for mid or bottom first. Look at the circles on the image for recommended locations to gank from.
