Something about me:

• I started playing LoL during May in S4.
• Gold 3 on my first season in only a half season. I was really proud of myself (lol).
• S5 I got to Plat 2, dropped to gold 1 after horrible and unlucky lose streak, got back to Plat 2 later until the end of season.
• S6 I finally got to diamond V. There I lost my motivation to play anymore during that season mainly because I had spammed Vel'Koz over 80 games. I will never become onetrick and it was annoying to play so much same champion.

The purpose of this guide is to show you guys how I play Kassadin. I will explain you my build and what and why I do differently compared to other players. Im not saying other builds are bad but this build is what I found to be the most succesful.


As the name of the guide says Kassadin got me back to diamond for the 2nd time this season. I got to diamond pretty early this season. I did what many people do, start trying out new things after reaching diamond as the goal has been reached and there is no need to tryhard anymore right? No, I was wrong. After some games and a short break from LoL I started to try my best again and climbed all the way to 70lp. But then it happened. Endless losing streak where almost every game was unwinnable or atleast it felt so. I dropped all the way down to plat 3 and didnt know what to play as nothing was working. Then I picked up Kassadin and after a couple of games I started winning basically all games with really high KDA's which usually means I carried hard. I almost became Kassadin onetrick and after over 60 games I got back to diamond V.

During the climbing I learned many things about the champion and I think I have a lot to teach you guys about the champion. I wish you give Kassadin a try if you are stuck in whatever division or are trying to find a new champion to play just for fun!

__Cons

- Really weak early game
- Bad wave clear
- Countered hard by ad midlaners
- You have to wish your team doesn't lose the _game during the first 15 minutes

__Pros:

+ Counters mid-range mages really hard
+ Best late game assassin
+ Mobility
+ Tanky assassin with really high AoE damage

____Passive Void Stone

___.This passive may not seem to be strong but it actually is one of the two reasons why ___. Kassadin is really strong against mages, especially mid-range mages.
___. Void Stone reduces damage you take after magic resist has already reduced ____________.incoming damage. This means you can survive the early laning phase better
____________.agains AP champions. The passive has no effect against AD and thats why you will
____________.struggle against AD midlaners.

____Q Null Sphere

___.Your surviving and trading ability during laning phase. This ability combined with your ___.passive is the reason why Kassadin is really strong against mages. Null Sphere ___.gives you a shield that absorbs MAGIC damage. You already take reduced damage ____________.because of your passive and on top of that you get pretty big magic damage shield.

____W Nether Blade

___.Great ability for last hitting minions. Usually you have to farm under your turret ___.because your kit lacks wave clear and this ability makes it a lot easier.
___. Nether Blade resets your autoattack and it deals a bit more damage than your ____________.normal autoattack.

____E Force Pulse

___.Basically only ability you can use to wave clear. Good ability to catch enemies off ___.guard with strong slow provided by this ability.

____R Riftwalk

___.The most important ability. You usually struggle until you reach level 6 and get this ___.ability. After level 6 your laning becomes a lot safer because now you have basically
___.two flashes. Dont spam Riftwalk as it's mana cost raises exponentionally and you ____________.run out of mana really quickly. Deals high damage at higher ranks with stacks.

X9 ___ Greater Seal of Scaling Health To survive better you want to get more hp.




X6 ___ Greater Glyph of Magic Resist




X3 ___ Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist Against AP mid you need magic resist. _________With this setup you get necessary amount to survive early laning and also get _________some magic resist to be more tanky later in the game.





X9___ Greater Quintessence of Ability Power Most valuable Quints you can get.








Sorcery More damage. You dont need attack speed.

Feast More sustain.

Natural Talent More damage.

Vampirism A bit more sustain. Your Q and W are single target spells so this mastery heals for the full amount.

Battle Trance is the safest choise. You dont want to take extra damage from Double Edged Sword . Early game fights will usually last a bit longer so you gain most benefit from the Battle Trance .

Piercing Thoughts Magic penetration gives you more damage against MR stacking enemies.

Deathfire Touch Best keystone for Kassadin.
Thunderlord's Decree would be the other option but as Kassadin you can never proc it during laning phase. Deathfire Touch gives you some extra damage to your
Q poke and makes your enemies think again if it is good _________________________________idea or not to trade with you.






Recovery More sustain for early laning.


Tough Skin More survivability. You can also take


Siegemaster if you know you will be pushed under your turret and you will get poked.


Veteran's Scars More survivability.


Fearless More survivability. This mastery actually gives a lot more than you might expect.

Best summoner spells for Kassadin. Take these always.

____Flash is best summoner to escape sticky situations when your
____ Riftwalk is on cooldown




____Teleport is good to follow your enemy midlaner's roaming without sacrifising
____too much farm as your wave clear is most likely worse.

Like in every guide, item choises are possibly the most important thing and usually the reason people read these guides. First I will explain why I usually build the same exact build and after that I will show you some other items that can be valuable in certain situations.

My build:

____Mercury's Treads:

___.I get these boots almost in every game. They give me survivability against crowd
___.control and magic damage. As Kassadin you dont want to get locked down by
___.CC abilities and with these boots you dont get stuck forever. Other choise would be Ionian Boots of Lucidity. Get these if you are snowballing and you dont need magic resist or tenacity. CDR is great and you will get maximum of 30% CDR with this build.

I get Mercury's Treads even if enemy team doesnt have a lot CC because they give me extra 25 magic resist and I wont build any other magic resist item. With Mercury's Treads I get a total of 80MR at level 18. 80 magic resist + your passive makes you as tanky as other midlaners would be with 112 magic resist.
Combine this with large health pool from Rod of Ages and magic shield from
Null Sphere. You are almost unkillable for mages.

____Rod of Ages:

___.As Kassadin you need a lot of mana. You want to get Rod of Ages as early as ___.possible because it takes a while to stack. Because you must get this item, it delays ___.your power spike and is the reason you are weak early game. On the other hand once your RoA is fully stacked and you get your next item you become really strong.

____Lich Bane:

___.Because one of your spells, W Nether Blade increases the damage of your ___.autoattack, you will be automatically using the passive of Lich Bane. This item will ___.give a lot extra damage to your full combo as you can proc it atleast twice. It is possible to oneshot enemy ADC with full combo (R,W,E,Q or R,E,Q,W) after getting this item.

____Zhonya's Hourglass:

___.At this point of the game teamfights start to happen pretty often. You want
___. Zhonya's Hourglass to stay alive after jumping in and killing someone. Usually ___.enemies start focusing you after you jump in. Using Zhonya's Hourglass
active you can stay alive and cause enemies to waste their abilities on you. Once the effect ends enemies probably arent able to focus you instantly because your team mates are still fighting.

____Void Staff:

___.At this point of the game enemies probably already have bought magic resist. You ___.need Void Staff to do more damage. If you feel like you dont need
___. Zhonya's Hourglass to stay alive you can get Void Staff instead.

____Rabadon's Deathcap:

___.I dont get to this point of the game often but there isnt really anything else to buy ___.besides more damage. Rabadon's Deathcap gives you most damage out of all ___.items. Get this item last because you need other items more.

Special items:

____Mejai's Soulstealer:

___.This item is often considered as a greedy and risky item. However I have had great ___.succes with it because it gives you free AP every time you get an assist or a kill.
___.As Kassadin the risk is smaller than usually because you are so mobile and tanky which makes you hard to kill. Mejai's Soulstealer is really good item to snowball the game out of control. I buy mejais almost every time I get 10 stacks to my Dark Seal (starting item I get every game!) no matter if my team is ahead or behind. Getting stacks and becoming really strong has turned the game to my favour many times. Just keep in mind that every death costs you 50AP.

____Ninja Tabi:

___.Against full AD teams I go for these boots every time. There is no point of getting ___.Magic resist against them because AD champions dont usually have a lot cc.
___. Ninja Tabi passive also helps you a lot against autoattack based champions.
