Renekton Passive Ability
Marks
Attack Damage marks boost Renekton's already strong early game damage. Strongest levels 1-3
Armor Pen marks sacrifice some of Renekton's early game power in exchange for a stronger mid/late game. Strongest levels 4+
Seals
Flat armor is the way to go against AD opponents. If you are playing against AP you can swap these for scaling amour or scaling health.
Glyph
Flat Magic Resist glyphs are 100% needed against an AP or Hybrid damage opponent.
I love going 6 CDR (5%) and 3 Flat MR (4) or 3 Scaling MR (9) against AD opponents or weak AP opponents.
Quintessences
Very much the same as our Marks get AD for early game or Armor Pen for mid/late game.

Weak passive that doubles our fury gains from both auto attacks and abilities when under 50% health points. Great during team fights, allowing you to build fury faster increasing your damage and utility by empowering your spells more often.

The sustain this ability gives

This is an odd ability because while stunning your opponent you are also stunned (like malz ult). This ability has a huge ratio when empowered (225% AD) making it a great nuke in single target fights or when diving that squishy carry! Also the stun duration doubles when empowered so keep that in mind when deciding on how to use your fury.

At level 2 you want to take E 90% of the time.

Against AD top with a balanced team my standard build is:
Ninja Tabi
Ravenous Hydra
Black Cleaver Deadman's Plate
Randuin's Omen
Spirit Visage
Against AP top with a balanced team my standard build is:
Mercury's Treads
Ravenous Hydra
Black Cleaver
Spirit Visage Deadman's Plate
Randuin's Omen
These example build don't mean that I build that way every time and how I get to that build might change depending on who is strongest at certain points within a game.
Doran's Blade
Very effective early game item, grants crucial lane stats (health and AD) that greatly boost your power in lane. This item doesn't build into anything so make sure to only buy 1 unless you really need the lane power.
Hexdrinker
A Solid buy but with how strong Spirit Visage is I often don't find myself needing more magic resist to justify buying this. A must buy against a ap mid top and jungle team.
The Brutalizer
Amazing early game item for
Renekton because he scales very well with every stat
The Brutalizer gives. Picking this item up early can help continue a snowball or bully weak lanes.
Sunfire Aegis
Sunfire Aegis synergizes so well with
Renekton's AoE kit giving him a 110 damage aura when using
Dominus. I often rush this item against AD champions because it gives both health and armor. Sunfire grants
Renekton more magic damage which helps a lot when opponents stack armor(happens often).
Randuin's Omen
Great armor and health item for
Renekton, the attack speed and movement slow help
Renekton in team fights when diving/tanking an AD carry. The active of this item is very potent, try and use it when you engage a team fight on as many members as possible. Make sure to pick this item up if the enemy stacks
Blade of the Ruined King or if they have champions that rely on their attack speed.
Ravenous Hydra
Hydra synergizes with
Renekton providing him some amazing burst and AoE damage. One of the biggest reason
Ravenous Hydra is so powerful is because if used during
Renekton's
Ruthless Predator animation it will cancel it allowing
Renekton get more abilities off faster. Always get this over a
Bloodthirster it is far superior on
Renekton.
Spirit Visage
This is the best magic resist item in the game and gives Renekton so much. This is a must buy in any
Renekton build because it gives health, magic resist, 20% CDR which is HUGE and even allows for 20% increased healing effect making for some giant
Cull the Meek heals.
Warmog's Armor
Not as strong as it used to be, I find myself holding off till i'm buying my 5th or 6th item to pick up warmogs. With how many percent health damages spells are in the game it is difficult to justify picking up Warmogs before having strong resistances. If the enemy team has no %hp damage and are playing champions unlikely to pick up Blade of the Ruined king than Warmogs becomes an amazing mid game item to go for. Warmog's is also a good choice when you need to itemize for AP and AD damage on a limited budget.
Locket of the Iron Solari
A rare buy,
Renekton should only buy Locket when losing lane badly. When you are losing lane you won't have much money and Locket is very cost efficient item. CDR, Health, Armor, and the active work very well when behind because locket is a cheap item and you will most likely be broke when you are getting stomped
Spirit of the Elder Lizard
This item has been nerfed so many times that not worth ever buying unless you are jungling
Renekton for some reason.
Black Cleaver
Works great with
Renekton because of how easy it is for
Renekton to build stacks on enemies.
Renekton's
Ruthless Predator puts a debuff for each attack so 2 stacks for non empowered
Ruthless Predator's and 3 stacks of
Black Cleaver shred when
Ruthless Predator is empowered. Great item when you have a heavy AD team comp.
Black Cleaver also build from a very common early pick up for
Renekton making it a great choice as your 1 damage item.
Last Whisper
Pick this up as your damage item when the 2 or more enemies are stacking armor. Only cost 2300 making it an easy pick up to boost
Renekton's damage against tanky teams. Only take
Last Whisper over
Black Cleaver when your team does not have much AD damage (AP mid/Weak jungle).
Blade of the Ruined King
I don't buy this anymore after the nerfs. Attack speed is
Renekton's least needed offensive stat making much of BOTRK wasted on
Renekton. Although the active is quite good and the passive procs on
Ruthless Predator it is not enough to make up for the high cost and wasted attack speed. Try to avoid this item unless a niche situation arises that calls for it.
Bloodthirster
Renekton scales quite well with AD making this a great item to buy. The only problem is the cost, making this item very difficult to go for in games where you do not get fed. I only see this as a super snowballing item or possible 6th item.
Frozen Mallet
Great item in games where you are behind and will spend the majority of team fights peeling for your teammates. Mallet is great against teams that attempt to kite you and if paired with ghost it will be very difficult for enemies to catch you.
Maw of Malmortius
Only upgrade your
Hexdrinker into a Maw as your last item. The upgrade cost too much for the stats given.
Ionian Boots of Lucidity
Boots of lucidity are best boots for damage on
Renekton but should only be gotten when snowballing or you are not worried about auto attack dmg or CC. This doesn't happen often so you won't see
Renekton's picking these up to much but the damage increase works great in lane if you are stomping.
Ninja Tabi
I grab these boots almost every game, the reduction to auto attack damage is amazing. A great early buy against champions that rely on auto attacks.
Mercury's Treads
I have stopped grabbing these unless the other team has an absurd amount of CC. These boots cost more than our other choices and because of how tenacity stacks we actually get less out of these boots.

When mid game hits you should look at your team and the enemy and determine if you can win a team fight. If you feel your team can win look to force objectives like dragon or tier 1 towers.
Renekton's shines in mid game team fights because carries don't have the damage to kill him though his
Dominus yet and are still extremely squishy. Your goal in a mid game team fight is to either dive and kill an enemy carry or to peel for your own. Target the most fed carry but don't waste time chasing your high base damages are enough to take out even tanky champs with some help from your team. Mid game is where you begin to choose your item paths, add out the enemies AD and AP champs and determine what stats have priority and build those first.

Late Game you need to decide if your team is capable of winning a 5v5 team fight. If the answer is no then you should be trying to split push. Make sure to buy wards so you are covered and begin pushing the lane farthest away from the action. Tell your team to stall the game out and just clear waves, your goal is to force multiple people to come and stop you relieving pressure on your team allowing them to possibly make a play.
If however you feel you can win team fights then your goal should be to force team fights in FAVORABLE POSITIONS! This is extremely important, just because you are ahead doesn't mean you should dive a tower. Try and force fights over objectives like
baron
or
dragon
by clearing out the enemy vision and placing your own. If they give up
baron
and
dragon
and just stall with wave clear try gaining vision control of their jungler and rotate to different towers as 5. They are either going to be too slow to respond or you can possibly catch them in transition. At this point in the game you should be tanky enough to eat tower shots for your team so don't be afraid to backdoor if the enemy is out of position.

Late Game

Because
Renekton is an AD caster your trades rely on his abilities and how you use them. The basic trade is
Slice and Dice->
Cull the Meek->
Ruthless Predator->
Slice and Dice in this trade you dash in
Cull the Meek->
Ruthless Predator and dash out to safety. This trade works well but to use
Renekton to his fullest you must weave auto attacks into your trade. A full trade with auto's looks like
Slice and Dice->AA->
Cull the Meek-AA than
Ruthless Predator right away because it resets your attack then one more AA before you use your second
Slice and Dice to leave. This trade takes under 4 seconds and chunks your opponent while not allowing him to trade back any damage.
When going in for a trade the more rage your have the better, always try to have at least 50 rage so that you output more damage. If you are at 100 rage you trades and do almost 50% of most enemies hp before level 6.
Now how do you determine what ability to use that 50 rage on? Well it depends on the situation, almost always you are going to want to use your rage on empowered
Cull the Meek's because the heal and AoE damage is so great. Empowered
Ruthless Predator are great if you need to lock down someone longer or are trying to burst down a single target. Empowered
Slice and Dice is something you don't use often, only use empowered
Slice and Dice's when you have a heavy AD team comp and you can land it on at least 3 enemies.
When in lane don't just waste your fury to push the wave, just having a full fury bar will be enough to zone your opponent most of the time. This is your key resource don't throw waste it unless you really need the sustain from

Well you managed to destroy your lane and you picked up a few kills what should you do now? Apply pressure and try and snowball your team. You can do this a few different ways, the easiest is to push your wave and try and roam to middle lane for a gank.
Another great way to snowball your team with your lane advantage is to take objectives. Tell your team to prepare for dragon and push your lane out and run down for the free gold. If the enemy tries to fight for dragon that's great use your advantage and win the team fight.
Taking towers is another great way to help snowball your team to victory. If other lanes are losing and you can't gank for them try and force the enemy to come help their top laner by shoving tower and proxy minion waves. You should be able to fight 2v1 vs your lane and the jungler and if they bring mid lane up your team will be able to take objectives. Make sure to only do this when there is an objective to be had aka if drag is not up and your mid and bot are not a position to pressure their tower don't try and proxy.
