You have a really hard time against champs who can poke you for free and/or have a good escape ability, (mundo, kayle, quinn, etc.)
You generally do better with other melee champs, so if the opponent can hit you, you are in range to do the same.
Yone
You beat Yone in lane easy. You can even cancel his ult by ulting him back.
Garen
Not horrible. Don't get scared if he silences you, you can still punch him. When he gets ult, it becomes a problem, because it goes straight through whatever shield you had. attack him when you can so he doesn't get his healing passive, keep him lower on HP than you as much as you can.
Mordekaiser
You guys are pretty even pre-6 but its the best chance you have at getting a lead on him before he gets ult. You can always build Maw early against him, it works great.
Nasus
Your chance to win is pre-6. Do NOT let the dog farm. When he gets his ult you lose 1v1s, unless you have a sizable lead. Ask JG to help, and build antiheal.
Quinn
Evil champ. She is going to E off of yours, and you will never catch her. Ask jg for help here.
Pantheon
What a pain. Do not use your abilities when his E is up, waste of resources. He can easily poke you with q throughout the whole game, so watch his spears. He is also way more mobile than you with his ult. Do NOT fight him if you are 50% hp or less, he beats you with his combo.
Teemo
This rat is evil. Beg jg to gank you. MR items help a lot here.
Sett
Do sit-ups and show him who's the real boss.
Warwick
Sett's winrate against Warwick is 40%. Yeah, sucks. It is winnable but you NEED to take ignite and buy bramble as soon as you can. He can dodge your W if he holds Q.
Dr. Mundo
Maybe i'm just dumb, but I've won lane against this guy and then suddenly he gets a huge lead on me and we lose. Man can Q you to death. Ask for help early. Bully him when you can, hide behind minions so he can't Q you. Fight in your minions. And don't forget bramble, this guy has massive heals.
Sett
You can play off of anyone with CC. Sustain/utility champs are great too. You will have a bit of a problem catching up to hyper mobile champs in fights.
Ivern
His Q is a good gapcloser for you, overall great supportive jg.
Shen
Very cool duo. His ult is global and gives a really good shield for fights. His taunt is super good too. You will probably not see him often, since he is mainly a toplane champ.
Fiddlesticks
I like his cc. Sneaky champ.
Warwick
His ult and fear is the best cc for you to catch up and deal substantial damage.
Yuumi
Kind of redundant to add this but yeah.

You do bad against supports with way more CC and tankiness than you. Super heal enchanters are also really annoying for some reason.
Blitzcrank
Sit behind the minion wave, he is useless if he can't get you. his knockup is a bit annoying but it is much better for you to get it than ADC.
Yuumi
nasty rat. Good for you, now you only have to deal with one enemy, but she will be healing and shielding all day. Get anti-heal.
Ashe
Go Dead Mans, her slows are the most annoying thing ever. You can probably catch her off-guard with hexflash. If you go in at a bad time it will be hard to escape her later without flash D:
you can also ult the support or anyone available to reach her easily ;)
Morgana
Not impossible. Watch her E shield because she can block your E and R. In teamfights, if she ults on your team, you can ult her out of range. :)
(she might have stopwatch though and then you're screwed.)
Senna
Actually not that bad. True that she has a ton of range and damage, but if you catch her with E she's dead.
Brand
It's all a matter of dodging his abilities. If he ults you, walk away from your teammates please.
Seraphine
Ability damage is annoying but you can hexflash her all day. (watch for her ult if you're by their tower.)
Zyra
pretty easy. You can tank her flower damage pretty well. her E is also simple to dodge.
Thresh
He isn't that hard pre-6, but his armor scaling gets really annoying. Catch him when he's trying to get his orbs.
Lux
I just permaban her because it seems that 50% of low ELO supports main her.
But seriously, buy mr. Her skills aren't impossible to dodge, and she doesn't have a mobile escape from you.
Pyke
Play someone else.
(if you have tips against him please share, would be much appreciated)
But if you have to play against him do it safe. Call for your jg until he comes for a gank. This guy is so slippery you will never catch him.
Swain
Not so hard pre-6. You can get a lead on him at this time. When he ults make sure your whole team backs off. It will last for as long as someone is in his range.
Tristana
Annoying ADC to deal with because of her jump. However, if you time it right, you can cancel her jump with Sett's E. It's right after her jump animation starts, but it may take some practice.
Nilah
pre-6 go full aggro on her. She will be forced to leave lane over and over because of how much you can bully her. Be careful with her W because it specifically dodges basic attacks, your biggest source of damage (aside from W). She can mess up your fight if she plays this right.
Rell
Not the most popular support but the literal bane of Sett's existence.
Play another champ, or if you're stuck with her, beg jg until he comes to gank you.
Xerath
Xerath is infamous for being a great poke champ. However, his only way to escape from you is with his e, and maybe with w.(which you can dodge) But by the time you catch him with E he's pretty screwed.
Caitlyn
What an annoying ADC. She can poke you and most ADC picks with ease, and a half-decent caitlyn knows how to dodge your E with hers.
Neeko
I actually found this threat by playaing against Sett in the botlane. Neeko can just poke you all day. Her E cd is shorter than yours so she can cc you if she feels threatened whenever you approach her.
The enemy Sett's mistake there was not taking advantage of hex flash in the bush. Neeko can still E you but you can also E her. (plus you can tank way more damage from the ADC than her).
Sett
your job as sup is to take as much damage you can away from ADC and offer as much cc (since you lack in other utilitarian values)
You synergize well with ADCs who have some sort of CC or can play well off of yours.
Yasuo
Generally, it's a hard no. But if they are a low range botlane, you can probably do it.
Kai'Sa
On paper, the synergy between these two looks pretty great. Sett can stun an enemy and Kai'sa deals a huge burst on them.
Personally, about 90% of Kai'sas i have played with are uber toxic and it's really hard to play with them. ;( hopefully it goes better for you.
Sivir
Ult is pretty helpful when catching up to the enemy. She has her own form of QSS in-kit, and she can just Q on the enemy whenever you E. Not my personal favorite ADC to play with though.
Seraphine
Pretty good. She offers AP damage and heals. Her Ult charm is so good in teamfights and lane 2v2s.
Ziggs
Pretty unlikely you will meet a Ziggs "APC" but it is actually not that bad. He has great damage output with that low CD Q, E slows, and can control enemy or your positioning with W. A bit complicated but opens up some cool plays.
Zeri
Pretty fun, her w is a great opportunity for you to get into the fight. however, she is way more mobile than you with E, so be prepared.
Ashe
Ashe slow is literally the best, you can always catch up to the enemy. Ult stun is also super good.
Aphelios
Actually really good. his gravitum gun is a great playmaker, and he has his own forms of sustain. Just give him a lot of opportunities for kills, and he will carry you hard.
Draven
Epic lane. You can take E lvl 1 or 2 and watch him get fed in a snap.
Miss Fortune
Her E slow is great for when you are trying to get an E stun on the enemy. You can make her r more volatile by using e to keep the enemy in. You can even ult someone into her ult, but be careful not to jeopardize her play.
Senna
Senna has super good damage and heals and an auto attack slow. (she can also get this from her Q)
Protect her, she is very squishy.
Varus
Varus capitalizes on any cc you give him. Keep the enemy away from him.
Kalista
Depending on the Kalista, you guys will be epic duo, or really bad. :(

PASSIVE- Pit Grit
Sett actually has two passives. The first is Heart of The Half-Beast. This passive allows Sett to regenerate |0.15/0.5/1/2| Health per second per every 5% of his missing max Health. His second passive, Heavy Hands coincides with his basic attacks. They alternate between a left and right punch. His right punch is special, because it has 50 bonus range, attacks 8 times faster than his left, and deals 5 x (his current level)|+55% bonus AD| physical damage.
If You Want To See How Heart of The Half-Beast Works
Q ABILITY- Knuckle Down
Knuckle Down is Sett's Q Ability. It empowers his next two auto attacks for 5 seconds, gaining 50 bonus range and 10/20/30/40/50(+1%(+1/1.5/2/2.5/3% per 100 AD) of target's max Health. Sett will also gain 30% movement speed for 1.5s while facing a visible enemy champion within 2000 units.
(approximately the amount your screen displays at a time)
If You Want To See How Knuckle Down Works
W ABILITY- Haymaker
Haymaker is Sett's W ability. Sett's passive stores 100% of post-mitigation damage taken as Grit. This scales on 50% max Health. When activated, Sett grants himself a shield equal to his Grit stored, lasting for 3 seconds, and decaying after .75 seconds.
If You Want To See How Haymaker Works
E ABILITY- Facebreaker
Facebreaker is Sett's E ability. Facebreaker allows Sett to pull enemies towards him from his front and back sides. The enemy(or enemies) is/are slowed by 70% for 0.5s. If Sett pulls in at least one enemy on both sides, he will instead stun them for 1 second after cast animation.
If You Want To See How Facebreaker Works
R ABILITY- The Show Stopper
The Show Stopper is Sett's ultimate ability. When The Show Stopper is activated, the selected enemy champion is suppressed, and Sett will dash to them, later leaping 600 units in the same direction, slamming the enemy into the ground and sliding behind them. Sett deals |200/300/400(+120% bonus AD)(+40/50/60% of primary target's bonus health)All targets hit are slowed by 99% for 1 second.

Starter Items
Doran's Shield
is a good option for lanes where you want to play safely. This is usually against ranged laners, enemies with better sustain, and those with better poke.
Doran's Blade
is great for duels and win lanes. It comes with a helpful stat of omnivamp, which actually only heals you based on ability damage but also includes HP and AD stats.
Long Sword
isn't technically a starter item, but offers a little more AD and counts towards items you build.(it does however lack the HP the other 2 items offer)
