Hello and welcome, to the Zed Thread!

This is a place to discuss my favorite champion.. Zed. I played him a lot in Season 3 and he became my favorite champion. I believe he is stronger than ever right now. I made this thread to be a fun little place to expand on tactics, builds and post your latest game scores on Zed along with much more yet to come! I really hope this thread doesn't flop, as people might think that there is only a certain amount that you can discuss about a champion, so I am always open to suggestions to make this thread better along with anything else that is worthy of change or to be noted :)

If you don't know who I am, My name is Ubnoxius. I am Platinum 1 as of Season 3 and I am working my way back in Season 4, from Gold. I've been playing League for about 2 years now and it has easily made my number 1 favorite game of all time. My best role is Mid-Lane, I like playing Assassin style champions like Zed, Talon and Kha'Zix as well as mages such as Orianna and Lissandra. Basically I like to make my impact in the game.

Without further adiue, let us talk about Zed, The Master of Shadows.
  • He doesn't have too many counters other than item, summoner spell, and the generic CC counters such as Quicksilver Sash and Barrier.
  • He brings incredible burst and is a very good ganker.
  • He has insane outplay potential and is very slippery

What is worthy to be posted and discussed on this thread?
  • End Game stats/scores
  • Videos (Outplays on Zed)
  • Builds
  • Zed future patches
  • Tips and Tricks

I will be refreshing this page with updates from future patches about Zed and I will discuss them / go into detail about any of the changes (if he has a new play style, new item build etc..) Hope this thread becomes a fun place for people seeking to learn to play Zed better.

Have fun guys!

I would like to make the first post to show you what I am expecting :3

Everygame you see a Riven, you should pretty much instalock in Zed.
Start with a Doran's Shield and farm with your Q till you get level 3, obtaining all 3 abilities then you can start some good harass.
If you're enemy Riven starts out with a Doran's Blade or Long Sword then it will be an easy lane.
If she is smart then she will start with Doran's Shield as well as you.

In this game I started out with a first blood with the help of my jungler. I then bought Tiamat (which I think is incredibly strong on any AD melee assassin). I grabbed a few more kills in bot lane and then bought The Brutalizer and decided that I could go for some more damage with Blade of the Ruined King (only due to the enemies being extremely behind in levels and items as well as having no armor). I probably should recommend buying Blade of the Ruined King over Ravenous Hydra in a Riven matchup, as she has 4 gap closers and can fairly easily escape if you aren't too skilled. But if you prefer the wave clear and extra damage from Ravenous Hydra, like I do, then buy it!

Now, I wouldn't usually go straight into Blade of the Ruined King after Tiamat but if you are 6 and 1 by 16 minutes, It is what I usually will end up doing :P. If not, then finish your Ravenous Hydra and pick up The Brutalizer and a Last Whisper.

The enemy team has won the Surrender vote 4-0.

:)

I don't think the lane would have been so easy if you hadn't got FB thanks to your jungler. Faker picks Riven as a counter-pick to Zed, and I see how she would win the match-up if both players are equal in skill. (Or how she would stomp it if she's Faker)

It's a close enough matchup that the better player would win. Zed definitely does not counter riven but if you're a Zed main against a relatively inexperienced riven you'll probably just land more abilities and outplay her.

You'd be very surprised how many Zed vs Riven games i have played, and I have won nearly all of them (in lane any ways). The only reason the Faker won that game vs Zed is because his team helped his ***. He was not doing good in lane that game, so he decide to go gank a **** ton to get back in the game. But when it comes down to duels, I do honestly think 7 times out of 10, Zed will be winning them if you have learned to dodge Blade of the Exile (which isn't too hard to do, for me at least)
Thanks for the sig Emi!

ENTRY #2

Just played 2 games tonight, Ill talk about the first one today then the next tomorrow.

Ok so this game, started off with a doozy. I started off with an Elixir of Fortitude because I felt like I could dominate Twisted Fate. I realized they had Thresh so I warned my team to prepare for the invade. Unfortunately I didn't listen closely enough to my own words. I saw Thresh walking towards me as if the team was behind them. Turned out, they were all infront of him. I had to start with Living Shadow and I flashed away to safety.

Early-mid game I picked up a Tiamat and The Brutalizer. I tried my best to stop ganks and keep my lane pushed. (knowing that it is fairly hard for Twisted Fate to cs under tower) though I never really killed Twisted Fate in lane I did effectively gank and keep up my cs fairly well.

As the game progressed on, Twisted Fate was getting a few kills by double ulting with Shen. We were fairly behind in kills up until about 20 minutes. We had secured every dragon and Teemo was consistently pushing top. We started grabbing our lead after we had some fairly extended dragon fights. Luckily the enemy Kha'Zix decided to build the tank jungler item and a Tear of the Goddess first, so he wasn't too much of a problem.

We started really swinging the game as they were making a lot of mistakes and we took the lead. I picked up my Last Whisper as my 3rd item, after I built Mercury's Treads (being that Twisted Fate was a problem at the time and they had a lot of cc). I then progressed into Blade of the Ruined King and finished off The Brutalizer with a Youmuu's Ghostblade.

And that pretty much ends the game :)
