Why is Akali's Ult range so big?

All she did was prevent me from farming once she hit 6 as whenever I tried to hit a creep she would jump me for a third of my health. Then she roamed to other lanes that weren't as careful as I was and got really, really fed. All she did was jump on me the second i went to hit a creep and hit me for a third of my health before i could react. Then she would just run away. Maybe it's my lack of experience laning against akali or my lack of experience with cass? I honestly couldn't do much. Even in a straight on fight she out-damaged me.[/quote]
