Skip the hexdrinker and get a mallet instead, you'll get more damage and durability that way.
""Toshabi took thy **** and strucketh Hotshot in his face 'thou art no god'" Toshabi 3:16" - Toshabi
"And then, TheJohn said something so Brazilian that it made all the Brazilians in Brazil turn to look at him" - Toshabi
"abloobloo ur triggering me" - Toshabi

I actually tested that out earlier, but I think it's a bit too expensive to rush if the enemy team has any amount of substantial AP. Also,
Hexdrinker gives 35 AD and
Frozen Mallet gives 20 AD so the hexdrinker gives more attack power.

I skip
Frozen Mallet entirely unless I (and my team) cannot keep up with people. even then I can grab red buff (preferably the enemy's) and perform the same task.
I like start with boots for the extra
Judgment time to keep up with my opponent and combined with
Decisive Strike allows you to get to where you need to go pretty quickly.
Just played a game and went the following build playing it by ear.
Boots- - - - was laning with
Sion (anyone with a stun is a good laning partner)
Sunfire Aegis - - - - - armor, hp, and to farm faster and since i was 8/0 by about 9 minutes in and was able to get it early for maximum effectiveness
Boots of Swiftness- -
Garen needs his speed...
Last Whisper - - - - - whats not to love about this? your
Judgment hits much harder, great for early-mid game
Force of Nature - - - magic resistance, synchronizes well with his passive, plus, more speed!

I filled in the last 2 spots with
Executioner's Calling because their
Dr. Mundo got fed and was building tank and my team refused to counter him properly (chain executioners actives and some focus can take him down easy even as a tank) and was building an
Infinity Edge since i didn't have enough dps and had no problem living (since only their
Nidalee and
Dr. Mundo actually fought me and the rest would run like sissy nannies (I'm serious) (even their
Tryndamere and his
Undying Rage) since the rest of em didn't want to melt to
Judgment.
Went 15/4/7 that game. Lost since I was the only one willing to counter Mundo so he was quite hard to kill, he only had 3 deaths the entire game =/
Anyways, anyone know if the shield from
Hexdrinker is effected by magic resistance? If not I really don't see a point in getting it (since its just a flat damage shield), would rather have a
Force of Nature against mages... not to mention a well timed
Courage while they all trying to burst you down greatly reduces all incoming damage.

You don't count the extra damage from

The build I was creating was mostly trying to focus on getting Garen to be tanky, then to slap a ton of damage onto his

Atma's Impaler combined with the extra hp. Mallet gives 34AD. That is one AD less, but it gives a lot more durability and the awesome slow so I definitely consider it to be superior.

I didn't even consider that, that's a very valid point. for another revised build...

I think that gives a decent amount of armor/MR to make Garen a decent assassin - that is, run in when the team fight is already half-over and just
