PROS

Alright, so let's start off this champion Guide by looking at Nasus's PROS. First off all, Nasus has an amazing late game due to almost infinite scalling, so the longer a game goes, the stronger Nasus will get. He's great in 1v1, especially at late game, where he's gonna be a really tanky champion yet do a lot of damage. He'll destroy towers really quick as well with his [Q] Siphoning Strike ability and, of course a Sheen and built-in sustain from Nasus's passive. Finally, Nasus is a very tanky champion especially during his [R] Fury of the Sands ultimate in which he gets a bunch of bonus resistances and a lot of health thus making him a champion really hard to bring down.
CONS


- Bad early game
- Easy to kite
- Limited mobility
- Needs Q Stacks!
- Mediocre teamfighter
- No dash or escape

Nasus however, is pretty bad in the early game when he's not gonna have that much damage or be very tanky, he also doesn't really have any sources of mobility so he's rather Easy to kite. Of course, Nasus needs to focus on getting his [Q] Siphoning Strike Stacks, and if he's unable to acquire these throughout early game he's not gonna be that late game powerhouse. Finally, he's also a pretty Mediocre teamfighter, sure he's pretty damn tanky with his [R] Fury of the Sands ultimate and does do a lot of damage if he can Stack enough, but the fact that he's Easy to kite is a big issue against most compositions.





< MY RUNES >


For my Runes I like to go for Precision and Resolve taking Conqueror as the Keystone. As a bruiser who excels as extended fights, Conqueror's prolonged damage and healing output make you a beast to deal with.

  • WHY CONQUEROR
  • Conqueror: As a bruiser who excels as extended fights, Conqueror's prolonged damage and healing output make you a beast to deal with.
  • WHY TRIUMPH
  • Triumph: Triumph empowers your ability to absorb massive amounts of damage in teamfights with your ability to pick up kills/assists and heal from your passive + Triumph.
  • WHY LEGEND: TENACITY
  • Legend: Tenacity: Nasus' biggest weakness is his lack of mobility, making him incredibly easy to be kited. The extra bit of Legend: Tenacity allows you to chase down and stick to your enemy for the kill.
  • WHY LAST STAND
  • Last Stand: Last Stand's extra bit of damage can be the difference between dying and getting the kill.



  • WHY CONDITIONING
  • Conditioning: Conditioning makes you into a massive mid game front line tank as it will scale well with any defensive items you buy and continuing scaling into the late game with your infinite scaling damage.

  • ALTERNATIVE TO CONDITIONING
  • Second Wind: Second Wind is a great sustain rune when playing into difficult match-ups. Like Doran's Shield, it allows you to mitigate a lot of the chip damage you might take.
  • WHY REVITALIZE
  • Revitalize: Nasus is a champion who lives and dies by his ability to sustain with his passive. Revitalize massively empower that healing in the mid game where you'll be able to out-duel most other champions.

SUMMONER SPELLS

For your summoner spells I'd recommend sticking Flash and Ghost or Teleport. Either Flash or Ghost have their advantages, with the former to better survive the early game and aggressive ganks, and the latter granting Nasus more long term mobility to chase enemies down ( Flash and Ghost is better against a Kayle for example, and a Kayn in Jungle, safe matchups or VS Ranged in TOP Lane, better for fight, better for chase enemies, and better for stick).

NOTE: Teleport is better against a Darius for example, and a Jarvan IV in Jungle, hard matchups, for more safely and good for splitpush safely).

FLASH: Nasus doesn't have a ton of mobility so Flash is a great way to escape a bad situation, or get on top of a squishy enemy so you can 1 shot them in the late game with your [Q] Siphoning Strike. He's very kitable but Flash can help get you into a fight.
GHOST: Nasus is really hard to bring down in lane once he's Level 6 so Ghost is a great pickup since he can still escape ganks with it. This will add a ton of mobility in teamfights so you can 1 shot their squishies with your farmed [Q] Siphoning Strike ability.
TELEPOT: I'd then recommend taking Teleport because Nasus needs to be near farm as much as possible so he can get his [Q] Siphoning Strike huge. He'll be able to sit in lane for large portions of the game farming, and then join teamfights and objectives when he's needed by using his Teleport.

For this order, you'll always focus to put a point into your [Q] Siphoning Strike ability since the cooldown goes down every time you upgrade it, allowing you to stack it just a little bit quicker (Especially with 45% CDR). Then focus on maximizing your [E] Spirit Fire ability second VS Melee/Fighter or Tanky because reduce the targets armor allowing you to do more damage and also it will do some nice AoE damage. Finally, upgrade your [W] Wither ability last but make sure you take a point in the ability at level four so you can actually slow and cripple your enemies, this will allow you to walk out of bad situations and of course stick onto targets with the slow that it provides. Never forget to upgrade your ultimate [R] Fury of the Sands whenever you can at LV:6, LV:11 and LV:16.

You will maximize the [W] Wither of second against Ranged Champions / Against Champions that are based on AA (Auto-Attack). Just like for example a Gnar at the TOP, a Lucian or a Vayne. Because Skill [W] Wither decreases Attack Speed, one reason and the second reason is because it decreases Movement Speed, helping him to get close to the Enemy, so he doesn't escape from Nasus.

NOTE: Just be sure to always maximize the [Q] Siphoning Strike for the Nasus first, as it is more important, it will increase the Damage, and decrease the CDR (Making you Stack faster, especially with 45% CDR). Don't forget to maximize the [E] Spirit Fire last, and also don't forget to always upgrade your ultimate [R] Fury of the Sands in LV:6, LV:11 and LV:16.

Gnar, Lucian, Vayne, Jayce, Ryze. . .

PASSIVE ABILITY
Soul Eater




STATUS OF THIS SKILL

INNATE: Nasus permanently has 12 / 18 / 24% (Based on level) bonus life steal.



Now let's kick off your abilities by looking at your [PASSIVE] Soul Eater which is great for its added sustain. Nasus permanently has between 12%, 18% and 24% bonus lifesteal, it gives him some source of extra sustain so he doesn't just get shoved out of the lane over and over again, as long as you're able to hit minions and farm up your [Q] Siphoning Strike ability you will be getting a bunch of life back and you should be fine. In the laning phase, at those late-game teamfights, your [Q] Siphoning Strike ability should be hitting fairly hard and will actually be giving you a big chunk of life back whenever you pull one off, and your [R] Fury of the Sands ultimate does also reduce the cooldown of your [Q] Siphoning Strike ability so you're gonna be using it very often and you're gonna be getting a lot of health back. It's a pretty strong passive and it's great at all stages of the game.

STATUS OF THIS SKILL

Siphoning Strike: COST: 20 MANA, COOLDOWN: 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 / 4

ACTIVE: Nasus's next basic attack within 10 seconds gains 25 bonus range and deals bonus physical damage.

If Siphoning Strike kills its target, Nasus permanently gains 3 stacks, increased to 12 if its target is a champion, large minion, or large monster.

Siphoning Strike resets Nasus' autoattack timer.

BONUS PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 (+ Siphoning Strike stacks).



Nasus' strength derives from his incredible late game damage when allowed to stack his [Q] Siphoning Strike. With [W] Wither to catch out enemies along with [E] Spirit Fire and [R] Fury of the Sands he's a great presence in teamfights. Although he is a formidable champion, he lacks mobility and hard CC, making him somewhat easy to kite.

By constantly last hitting with Siphoning Strike, you'll have an enormous impact by the end of the game, so this will be your primary source of damage.

If you are having difficulty last hitting minions with [Q] Siphoning Strike (against strong zoners), request a lane change or a gank.

The damage from [Q] Siphoning Strike will proc on turrets, allowing Nasus to be a very effective and dangerous split pusher once he gets more stacks.



NOTES

Siphoning Strike's cooldown will not start until the enhanced attack is used or it expires.

Siphoning Strike's bonus range stacks with Fury of the Sands', granting 200 total range.

Nasus can gain Siphoning Strike stacks by last-hitting any targetable enemy units (Wards, Structures, Summon: Tibbers, Powder Keg, Prophet of an Elder God, Void Swarm, Jack In The Box, Noxious Trap, Shepherd of Souls, Eulogy of the Isles)

Siphoning Strike will not generate stacks from secondary units killed by item area-of-effect damage (Cleave, Crescent, Icy Zone).

Siphoning Strike will not generate stacks from jungle plants.

The enhanced attack will apply other on-hit effects and can critically strike as normal.

Only Siphoning Strike's base damage interacts critical strikes but the bonus damage will still apply life steal as well as affect structures.

If Nasus is blinded Siphoning Strike's enhanced attack will not be consumed.




W
Wither




STATUS OF THIS SKILL

Wither: TARGET RANGE: 700, COST: 80 MANA, COOLDOWN: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11

ACTIVE: Nasus ages the target enemy champion for 5 seconds, slowing them by 35% and crippling them by half that amount, both increasing over the duration.

MAXIMUM SLOW: 47 / 59 / 71 / 83 / 95%

ADDITIONAL SLOW PER SECOND: 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 / 15%

MAXIMUM CRIPPLE: 23.5 / 29.5 / 35.5 / 41.5 / 47.5%

ADDITIONAL CRIPPLE PER SECOND: 1.5 / 3 / 4.5 / 6 / 7.5%



Using [W] Wither on your targets will make it easier to land [E] Spirit Fire before using [Q] Siphoning Strike, as [E] Spirit Fire greatly reduces the target's armor and consequently increasing your physical damage.

[W] Wither is best used to shut down auto-attack dependent champions, slowing them to a crawl and reducing their attack speed dramatically.

Choose your target wisely (Usually a carry) when casting, as the moderate cooldown is fairly unforgiving since you will only be able to affect one person with it and most casters can shrug off the effects.

With high amounts of cooldown reduction, Nasus can almost continuously maintain [W] Wither on the enemy team (5 Seconds duration, 6.6 seconds cooldown). However, enemy Tenacity can counteract this.

Without any gap-closers or mobility, Nasus relies on his [W] Wither to keep himself from being kited.



NOTES

If Wither's duration is reduced by Tenacity the effects will apply faster so the maximum values are reached when the shortened duration ends.




E
Spirit Fire




STATUS OF THIS SKILL

TARGET RANGE: 650, EFFECT RADIUS: 400, COST: 70 / 85 / 100 / 115 / 130, MANA COOLDOWN: 12

ACTIVE: Nasus unleashes a spirit flame at the target location, dealing magic damage to enemies in the area.

The flame then remains for 5 seconds, dealing magic damage each second to all enemies within and reducing their armor while they remain, lingering for 1 second.

MAGIC DAMAGE: 55 / 95 / 135 / 175 / 215 (+ 60% AP)

MAGIC DAMAGE PER SECOND: 11 / 19 / 27 / 35 / 43 (+ 12% AP)

TOTAL MAGIC DAMAGE: 110 / 190 / 270 / 350 / 430 (+ 120% AP)

ARMOR REDUCTION: 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45% of target's armor



Be careful when using [E] Spirit Fire near your tower, as it will push the lane and you will likely miss several minions.

During the laning phase, [E] Spirit Fire will discourage your enemies from farming, but it has a relatively high mana cost and will shove the lane if used too much. Do not spam [E] Spirit Fire during the laning phase, all this will do is waste your mana for when you truly need it. Maintain your [Q] Siphoning Strike farm and save your mana pool for when your jungler is ready to gank. That way you can [W] -> [E] -> [Q].



NOTES

Spirit Fire grants sight of the target area (Is smaller than the damage area) for a short duration on-cast.




R
Fury of the Sands




STATUS OF THIS SKILL

EFFECT RADIUS: 175, COST: 100 MANA, COOLDOWN: 120

ACTIVE: Nasus empowers himself for 15 seconds, gaining bonus Flat Health, Shield and Tenacity and Slow Resist, increased size, and 50 bonus range on his basic attacks for the duration.

While Nasus is empowered, he deals magic damage to all enemies around him each second, capped at 240, gains bonus Shield and Tenacity and Slow Resist each second, and Siphoning Strike's Ability Haste cooldown is reduced by 50%.

BONUS HEALTH: 300 / 450 / 600

BONUS RESISTANCES: 15 / 35 / 55

MAGIC DAMAGE PER SECOND: 3 / 4 / 5% (+ 1% per 100 AP) of target's maximum health

TOTAL MAGIC DAMAGE: 45 / 60 / 75% (+ 15% per 100 AP) of target's maximum health

BONUS RESISTANCES PER SECOND: 1 / 2 / 3

TOTAL BONUS RESISTANCES: 30 / 65 / 100



[R] Fury of the Sands can be used at the start of teamfights as you will be doing constant AoE damage to enemies while gaining attack damage for an even stronger [Q] Siphoning Strike. It can also be saved for the end of smaller fights to bait enemies with the health boost.

A team with Nasus can kill Baron Nashor earlier because [R] Fury of the Sands and passive life steal from [PASSIVE] Soul Eater allows him to tank and kill it faster and more easily.



NOTES

Fury of the Sands' bonus health is not affected by Grievous Wounds and Nasus retains it once the duration ends.




NASUS TIPS
Tips Playing as Nasus


Paying attention to last hitting with [Q] Siphoning Strike will have a large impact at the end of a game.

If you're solo, [E] Spirit Fire is a great way to farm a lane. It can be bad if you're in a lane with 2 and you push too far. Find the right balance between [Q] Siphoning Strike last hits and [E] Spirit Fire AoE farming.

If you have low defenses, people will focus you down even during your [R] Fury of the Sands ultimate. Try buying some survivability items even in your DPS builds.






LANE PHASE

-> FOCUS ON STACK [Q]
-> DO NOT SPAM THE [E] SPIRIT FIRE
-> RUSH 1050 GOLD FOR SHEEN AND 150 / 200 STACKS!
-> FIGHT ONLY WITH SHEEN AND FROM LVL6
-> LET THE ENEMY PUSH THE LANE
-> FARM SAFELY UNDER YOUR OWN TOWER

Nasus has a fairly weak lane phase early on so you'll probably have to play rather cautiously.

Try and focus on stacking your [Q] Siphoning Strike as much as possible during the lane phase so you'll be a really strong champion in the mid and late game.

Nasus is a champion that's pretty easy to farm under tower on so if you can, let the enemy push the lane and farm safely under your own tower until you're strong enought to fight.



TEAMFIGHTING

-> TO BE A TANK FRONTLINER FOR YOUR TEAM
-> USE YOUR [Q] ON ANY SQUISHY CARRIES
-> FOCUS THE ADC
-> DROP YOUR [E] ON THE ENEMIES
-> USE [W] ON AN CHAMPION WHO IS AUTO ATTACK BASED

In teamfights you'll want to be a tank frontliner for your team. You'll be very hard to take down while in your [R] Fury of the Sands. It also deals magic damage based on the champions maximum health so it will deal a lot of damage to the enemies tanks that are also on the front lines.

If you do see an opportunity however, make sure you're using your [Q] Siphoning Strike on any squishy carries near you to take out a big chunk of their health.

Finally, make sure you drop your [E] Spirit Fire on the enemies to reduce their armor so your team hits harder and use [W] Wither on an enemy champion who is auto attack based.

League of Legends Champions:
