Hey everyone, Pfeff is FLY here, and this is my Shaco guide. This is my first guide, and I've worked my hardest making it. I would really appreciate feedback and/or corrections/suggestions. Shaco is one of the most fun champions due to his unique play style, and his kit.
So here we go everyone. It's time to present to you my Shaco guide. I put many hours into this guide, so please reconsider any downvoting before trying out the guide. Once again, thank you for taking your time and checking out my Shaco guide.

Who are you and why should I listen to you? I'm currently a Diamond Shaco main on the NA server. I have hundreds of games of experience with Shaco. To show you that my guide actually does work, here's a bit of proof:

Pros / Cons


+ Amazing Assassin
+ He can flash. While invisible. Every 9 seconds.
+ Permaslow passive on Two-Shiv Poison and a fear from Jack In The Box
+ Very strong splitpush with Ravenous Hydra, Statikk Shiv, Deceive, Jack In The Box, and Hallucinate.
+ You can dodge almost anything with his ultimate; Hallucinate.
Shaco is extremely fun, not to mention a he's a thriving solo queue champion. His kit makes him one of the most slippery champions, and having the potential to carry games. Personally, I think Shaco is one of the best gankers in the game due to his Deceive, Jack In The Box and Two-Shiv Poison. On the other hand, many people think Shaco doesn't bring much to offer in teamfights, but trust me, they'll change their minds by the end of the game.


- Very Squishy.
- No escapes after you Deceive.
- Revealed by Oracle's Lens, Vision Ward, Sonic Wave, and Tempest.
- Countered by Guardian Angel and Zhonya's Hourglass.
Shaco is more easily countered in late game scenarios. He gets completely blown up late game if affected with any type of stun/snare, he can be countered by true vision, and the two items mentioned to the left. Usually when playing Shaco, you should try to be ending the game before the enemy team can reach their full builds.

Deal 20% more damage from behind.
Remember to use this skill when jungling, assassinating targets, and ganking. This 20% boost may not seem like too much, but later in the guide in the items section, I explain how this passive is a killer.

Teleport to a target location, and become invisible for 3.5 seconds, and your next auto-attack will crit.
This is the ability that makes Shaco, Shaco. This skill is pretty much a free flash with the bonus of becoming invisible for 3.5 seconds AND guaranteeing your next attack to critically hit. Use this skill to escape, gank, or even catching up to someone.

Jack in the box
Deploy a box that lasts for one minute. If enemies come close to the stealthed box, it will fire shots which do magic damage and fear them for an amount of time.
This ability helps Shaco in the jungle, by tanking the jungle creeps, and allowing faster clear times. The box fears enemies, so this is also an important tool in dueling, counter jungling, and ganking. When ganking, place a Jack In The Box behind the enemy where they will run. This will change their course of direction, fear them and end up in their death, or force a flash. Don't underestimate this skill!

Two-Shiv Poison
Passively slow your enemy with auto-attacks, and creeps have a chance to miss their attacks on you. Throw the Shiv to deal magic damage and slow the enemy.
Always remember the passive on this skill! When ganking, keep auto-attacking for a "permaslow" and then throw your shiv for the finishing move.

Become untargetable for .5 seconds, and create a clone of yourself that deals 75% of your damage, but takes 50% more damage. Clone will also explode dealing magic damage.
Hallucinate can be used to dodge skills like Requiem, Final Spark, Trueshot Barrage, and Vault Breaker. You can save your own life with this skill, but there are more uses for this skill. When dueling an enemy, you can Hallucinate to confuse them, and also deal more damage to them. You can use this skill to send in your clone on a tower dive mission, and explode in their face, and they can't do anything about it. Lastly, this skill can easily let you solo dragon. Send your clone to the back of the dragon, so he will tank it, and you get Backstab damage on the dragon. Remember to only dragon if it is safe. Usually when the time is right, your team will also help you secure this objective.

Summoner Spells

Ignite is my recommended second summoner spell for more kill potential and to snowball the game. You're a jungler, duh. Exhaust is the other viable summoner on Shaco. Usually only take it if your support doesn't or you know an Udyr will be in your jungle all game.

Greater Mark of Attack Damage

For runes, I like to take AD marks for a boost of early game damage. I tried armor penetration marks, but you aren't as powerful early game, which is where you need to be the strongest. Next, I take armor seals. Attack speed and health seals are also viable, but I think armor fits Shaco the best, especially for his early game power. For glyphs, I like taking AP for more damage on your Two-Shiv Poison, and a little bit faster clear time since your Jack In The Box will do more damage. Lastly for my quintessences, I like to take attack speed. I used to use AD quints, but these quints give a considerable amount of attack speed which helps for more attacks when ganking, and faster clear times in the jungle. These also scale better into the mid- late game, since AD quints only give about 7 attack damage. You are Shaco, you will be squishy no matter what, so I don't take any defensive runes. Your job will to be to get your lanes ahead early game, and try to snowball the game.I do think armor/magic resist glyphs are still a viable choice for Shaco, I just do not use them because I want to maximize my ganking, clear time, and counterjungling ability.

Very Offensive Masteries

// This mastery page gives Shaco maximum damage output. He benefits off of every mastery; attacking faster, more AD and AP, more damage to monsters, more damage to champions, and of course Dangerous Game . This is without a doubt the best mastery page for Shaco in the current patch.

Q: What about Warlord's Bloodlust ?
//This mastery is very good, but in the current patch, Thunderlord is simply too strong. Once it is nerfed, Warlord may become the better option.

Skill Sequence

For Skill Sequence, we always want to level up our Two-Shiv Poison and Hallucinate whenever we can. Two-Shiv Poison helps us by allowing lane minions and jungle creeps to miss their attacks, while it is also a slow and good damage for ganks and counterjungling. Hallucinate should be maxed at ranks 6,11, and 16.LEVELING Deceive BEFORE Jack In The Box IS DEFINITELY SUPERIOR! I have tried leveling up Jack In The Box before Deceive and it simply isn't as good. Maxing Deceive first will maximize your damage on ganks and put it on a shorter cooldown.

This is a new item introduced into Season 5. I think it is much better than the Season 4 AD item. This gives good AD, some CDR, and ARMOR PENETRATION (YAY) while granting mana and health sustain in the jungle. I choose this item because YOU CAN SMITE PEOPLE AND GRANT A SLOW + MS. This item adds to your burst potential and helps you gap close after using Deceive. Definitely a good item to pick up. You can sell this item late game for something like Trinity Force, Blade of the Ruined King, or Guardian Angel.

Ravenous Hydra is the core item on Shaco in this meta. Hydra has everything a Shaco could ever need with high attack damage, lifesteal, and the passive and active make him very scary assassin and splitpusher. If you have a Spirit of the Elder Lizard and Ravenous Hydra, the passive and active on Ravenous Hydra will proc the burn damage from the Spirit of the Elder Lizard.

Berserker's Greaves are perfect to Shaco giving him movespeed (of course) for more ganks, and attack speed for faster clear and better ganks. I also like to taking Berserker's Greaves - Furor on them for mroe auto-attacks from running enemies/catching back up to an enemy who has used heal or flash.

Youmuu's Ghostblade is a really good item on Shaco as he can benefit from all of the stats it provides. AD, crit chance, and CDR are good, but the active and unique passive is where this item shines. It grants movespeed and attack speed which can be great during 1v1 duels, assassinating, ganking, or even escaping. The 20 Armor Penetration is quite insane paired up with the 10 Armor Pen from Stalker’s Blade -Warrior. A really good item overall.

The Statikk Shiv is a wonderful boost to Shaco's burst. This item gives of course attack speed, crit, and movespeed. BUT! It's greatest purpose is the passive! Just read this, " At 100 charges, your next attack expends the charges to deal 100 magic damage to up to 4 targets. This damage will critically strike only if your initial attack also did." This means for Shaco every time your statikk shiv has 100 charges, and you use Deceive, you will guarantee crit with both your initial attack AND the stattik shiv passive! I'm getting a bit excited ^v^.

lord dominik's reguards lord dominik's reguards is a very good buy for enemies with a good amount of armor and health. This is a tank shredder.

This is where Shaco becomes Shaco. Infinity Edge is one of those items which feels like it was made for him. It gives 80 AD, 25% crit, and +50% CRITICAL STRIKE DAMAGE!!! This combo is quite insane. Infinity Edge + Max Deceive + Statikk Shiv + Backstab is almost a one shot kill on the AD or AP carry.

This is a very good late game item on Shaco. He benefits from every statistic, but mostly from the two unique passives. Rage paired up with Furor will make you very speedy after you auto-attack, and kills with make you even faster. Spellblade will increase your insane burst even farther, to literally be 2/3 shotting carries.

If you don't want to buy Trinity Force or another damage item, you can top off your bursty assassin build with the Guardian Angel. This item will give us some armor and magic resist, but it's mostly useful for it's known unique passive. Go ahead and burst down their carry, and if you die, no worries! You've still got another life! After you get back up from you're Guardian Angel you can either deceive away, or continue fighting whatever the situation.

Creeping / Jungling

As, Shaco I always start at the Blue Guardian and Gromp . Place two Jack In The Boxes down where the Gromp will spawn starting at 0:56, and two in the bush at Blue Guardian. The Jack In The Box will last one minute, so the box place at 0:56 will still trigger. As Shaco, you should almost always let your boxes tank the bigger monster. After smiting down Gromp , I get the Blue Guardian to walk into the bush with two jack in the boxes (which were not triggered) and get Blue Buff. Then I go to Brambleback. I will tank 2-3 hits from the Brambleback then my box will tank the rest. ALWAYS remember to place your box behind the jungle creep for extra Backstab damage. You should be level 3 after that, so gank, gank, gank! As Shaco your job is to constantly gank/counter gank. You should not be farming the junge creeps all game. I usually just try to get wolves, raptors, and my buffs of course for some extra gold. Late game, you are a splitpushing MONSTER. Your kit makes Shaco one of the scariest, most annoying split pushers in League. Place Jack In The Boxes around for escape routes, or to give vision of where enemies may come from. Your Statikk Shiv + Ravenous Hydra lets you clear waves with ease. I usually do not use Hallucinate to take down towers unless you know they will be coming very soon, and you need to get the tower and get out. Deceive is what makes Shaco's splitpushing amazing. You can do so many things with this skill. When 2 or more people come for you, you can fake a Deceive over the wall, and go backwards. Or, if a squishy target splits away from the group, you can assassinate them, making any death of yours of course, "worth". Chasing a Shaco wastes the enemies time, and can secure your team other objectives across the map.

Team Work

NEVER ENGAGE. EVER. You should never be engaging as Shaco because you are so squishy, and if you are hit with any type of CC, you are useless and dead. You need your top lane or support to engage the fight, and you go in for the assassination for the enemy AP/AD Carry. Once either their team or your team engages, more of their teams CC will be used, and you have a better chance of assassinating your target. I usually come from the side over a wall instead of where they can see me Deceive. Always try to get your Backstab bonus damage, and DO NOT forget to use your Youmuu's Ghostblade and Ravenous Hydra actives. Always try to use Hallucinate after you kill the enemy ADC or if they barely get away. Hallucinate adds confusion to the battle and the enemies feel outnumbered and helpless. Be sure to set up a few Jack In The Boxes around, because you never know how the fear could change someones fate.
