Introduction

Hi guys, my name is Adam and today I'll be taking you through how to become a BEAST with Akali. Akali is one of those champions that people tend to forget about as she isn't played much on the pro scene, however, her insane burst and sustain off her passive make her a force to be reckoned with.
I have one tricked Akali for about three seasons now, starting in bronze and working my way up to platinum, in which I am still climbing :P I was ranked top 10 Akali in OCE before I decided to take a super long break and am now working my way up to rank #1 in OCE before setting my sights on becoming the #1 ranked Akali in the world.

Anyway enjoy the guide, oh and if you have twitch, feel free to follow me on twitch.tv/adzzteemo or check out some of the videos on my Youtube that will show my gameplay and item builds in action =)

Abilities

Twin Disciplines (Passive)

Akali's first two attacks are empowered. The first strike heals her, and the second strike deals bonus magic damage. Twin Disciplines will recharge itself automatically a short while after being used.

Mark of the Assassin (Q)

Akali spins her kama at a target enemy to deal Magic Damage and mark the target for 6 seconds. Akali's melee attacks against a marked target will trigger and consume the mark to cause additional damage and restore Energy.

Akali throws her kama at a target enemy to deal 35/55/75/95/115 (+40% Ability Power) magic damage and mark the target for 6 seconds.Akali's melee attacks against a marked target will consume the mark to deal 45/70/95/120/145 (+50% Ability Power) magic damage and restore 40 energy.

Twilight Shroud (W)

Akali teleports to a nearby location, leaving a cover of smoke at her previous location. While inside the shroud, Akali becomes Invisible and gains Movement Speed. Attacking or using abilities will briefly reveal her. Enemies inside the smoke have their Movement Speed reduced.

Akali teleports to a nearby location, leaving a cover of smoke at her previous location that lasts for 8 seconds and slows enemies within its area by 14/18/22/26/30%.While inside the shroud Akali gains Invisibility and 20/40/60/80/100% movement speed. Attacking or using abilities briefly removes Invisibility.

Stealth - Invisible: Akali can only be revealed by nearby enemy Turrets.

Crescent Slash (E)

Akali flourishes her kamas, dealing damage based on her bonus Attack Damage and Ability Power. When Crescent Slash kills a unit, it has a shorter cooldown.

Akali flourishes her kamas, slicing enemies for 70/100/130/160/190 (+80% bonus Attack Damage) (+60% Ability Power) physical damage. If Crescent Slash kills an enemy, its cooldown is refunded by 60%.

Shadow Dance (R)

Runes

General Runes

Greater Quint of Ability Power
3

Greater Mark of Attack Damage
9

Runes are relatively straight forward with Greater Quintessence of Ability Power and Greater Mark of Attack Damage. Everything else is dependent on the lane match up.

Against an AP Laner

Greater Quint of Ability Power
3

Greater Mark of Attack Damage
9

Greater Seal of Scaling Health
9

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
9

The extra health provided from Greater Seal of Scaling Health enables you to endure the pain that a pokey AP mid laner will dish out alongside Greater Glyph of Magic Resist

Against an AD Laner

Greater Quint of Ability Power
3

Greater Mark of Attack Damage
9

Greater Seal of Armor
9

Greater Glyph of Ability Power
9

Greater Seal of Armor to block most of the damage combined with Greater Glyph of Ability Power as you'll be auto attacking more and can proc your passive more often!

Masteries

So my masteries are the same regardless of whether i'm laning against an AD or AP champ. However, before I go into the break down, I will say that the only change I make is lane dependent, in which I will take Greenfather's Gift in the cunning tree for top as opposed to Dangerous Game . This is because there are shrubs to be made use of in top lane! :)

FEROCITY (12):

Sorcery for the 2.0% ability power increase
Fresh Blood for the burst as it gives you a little extra damage and is more useful than the other two options
Natural Talent as this scales so well with Akali. I mean she's a hybrid champion so this is a no brainer.
Bounty Hunter Ok so the reason for this is that it's a permanent increase on your damage. So after killing the entire enemy team once, you'll get a 5% increase for the game. Now doesn't that sound nice?

CUNNING (18):
Savagery this helps remarkably when csing. Try playing without it in masteries and see what happens
Assassin for the extra 2% damage when killing people!
Merciless any champ under 40% health get dealt an extra 3% damage
Dangerous Game in most cases this will save you from the last tick death on ignite as it restores 5% health when you earn champion kills or assists
Precision for that juicy magic and armour pen. Works well with Akali hybrid pen.
Thunderlord's Decree this is so instrumental when bursting champions. When combined with gunblade it makes for a solid combo.

Itemisation

Itemisation to be updated once I've finished uni for the semester! (AKA after 24/06/17)

Spells

Flash: is always going to be running on Akali. Combined with her Twilight Shroud this enables a lot of distance to be covered in a short amount of time, giving you the advantage of surprising laners that think they're far enough to not get bursted.

Ignite: I always run ignite as it provides that extra little bit of damage that you will need to finish the champion off. Also for a lot of AD champs, it will stop their life steal from autos and give you the upper hand.

Exhaust: This is super, super rare to ever be used for Akali however, if you are unsure about laning phase and want the extra ability to survive in lane or to engage even harder, then feel free to take exhaust!

Match Up and Combos

Ok, now we've got your spells, masteries and runes set! However, the most important aspect of any champ is how you play the lane! So i'll take you through some of the most common match ups, how to deal with them and some of the combos I use. (NOTE: I will be uploading more match ups as I complete commentaries on them)

Akali vs Riven:

The main combo I used in this game was:

Early Game: q > w > aa > q > aa
Mid to Late: r > gunblade > q > aa > e > w > r > q > aa etc.

Akali vs Katarina:
