Introduction

Welcome to my Corki Build/Guide. Corki is a fun ranged dps champion that relies on AD over AS and crit because of his ability Gatling Gun which has the ability to wreck teamfights. Although Corki has 3 abilities that stack with AP, those abilities are used for their utility and not for damage.

Abilities

Passive: Hextech Shrapnel Shells - Corki's basic attacks deal 10% additional true damage to minions, monsters, and champions.
Good unnoticed passive that helps AD Corkis deal even more damage. It helps early game for harassing your opponent and helps kill tanks and armor building enemies with the true damage aspect.

Q Ability: Phosphorus Bomb - Deals 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+50% of ability power) damage to enemies in a target area. In addition, the blast reduces an enemy's chance to hit by 35%.
Sadly this ability no longer reveals stealthed units in a patch, but it is still good for blinding enemy dps champions and harassing early game. People who don't play or play against Corkis very often might not realize the blind and continue to attack you allowing you to destroy them in a 1v1.

W Ability: Valkyrie - Corki surges to target location dealing 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+40% of ability power) damage per second to enemies in the fire left along his path.
Corki's great escape and chasing ability, but should only be used for those purposes. The cooldown is way to big to use against minions because you never know when you could get ganked. Can also be used to initiate ganks in combination with Gatling Gun.

E Ability: Gatling Gun - Corki's gatling gun fires at all targets in front of him for 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 4.5 / 5 seconds, dealing a quarter of his total damage and shredding 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 armor with each shot. The armor reduction persists as long as the enemy is under continuous fire.
Corki's one ability that builds off AD but allows Corki to make quick of any champion whether they are squishies or tanks. The armor reduction can bring an enemy to negative armor causing you and your allies to deal extra damage to the target. Great in combination with Black Cleaver and Stark's Fervor.

Ultimate: Missile Barrage - Corki fires a missile towards his targeted location that will collide with the first enemy it hits. Each missile deals 125 / 200 / 275 (+30% of ability power) area magic damage. Corki stores one missile every 14 seconds up to 7 missiles at any given time. Every 4th missile will be a Big One.
Not a very good ultimate, but is useful for last hitting minions and harassing early game. Big Ones on the other hand deal good damage even when building Corki AD, so it is wise to save up a Big One before a team fight.

Ability Order

> > >

Gatling Gun is his bread and butter and most prioritized ability because of its damage output.

Most builds choose Phosphorus Bomb over Valkyrie but I prefer Valkyrie because of the decreased cooldown. Phosphorus Bomb is good for harassing, but the mana cost is too great to keep up.

Summoner Spells

My Spells

Teleport: Good for lane control especially if you go mid and great for late game map control.

Ghost: Help for escapes and chases when Valkyrie isn't enough.

Other Good Spells

Exhaust: Slows a target and weakens them. Good for when your Phosphorus Bomb field disipates and helps to keep targets in your Gatling Gun.

Heal: Good if you have trouble with being harassed and also good for a deceptive strike from low health.

Cleanse: Good for clearing CC effects and saving you in combination with Valkyrie.

Flash: Not necessary because of Valkyrie but is still good for escapes and chases.

Ignite: Helps for insuring kills and getting first blood but extremely necessary.

Spells not to get

Clarity: Should really only be used by casters and support champions.

Clairvoyance: Another support champion spell. I prefer to buy wards to prevent ganks.

Fortify: Leave this to the tanks and supports but there is no real use for this spell.

Rally: I honestly don't know if there is a purpose for this spell.

Smite: This is not a jungle guide so there is no purpose for Smite.

Revive: Refer back to Rally.

Masteries and Runes

Masteries

21/0/9 Go into damage, attack speed, and armor/magic pen in the offense tree and a few basics in the utility tree

Runes

greater mark of desolationGreater Mark of Desolation x9 Armor penetration is really helpful early game although could be replaced by attack speed runes.
Greater Seal of Clarity x9 Corki uses many abilities and needs good mana regen.
Greater Glyph of Shielding x9 I choose MR glyphs to help for survivability
Greater Quintessence of Fortitude x3 Good early game health.

Items

Start off with a Dorans Blade and a health pot. The extra health and life steal helps you stay in your lane longer whether you are in mid or a side lane. If you would rather start with a Long Sword to get a Phage faster, be my guest.

Core Item Build

On your first trip back buy Berserker's Greaves, Phage, and a vampiric scpeterVampiric Scepter. If you don't have enough gold buy your items in the order at the top. The key now is to save up for a BF Sword to build into a Black Cleaver. With Missile Barrage Corki can continue to farm even when low on health.

Once you buy a Black Cleaver you have your core build, so the next items depend on how the game is going or the enemy team composition.

So at this point you have a Phage and a Vampiric Scepter that could build into different things. For Phage you have the choice between a Frozen Mallet for more survivability or a Trinity Force starting with a Sheen for overall better stats. The Vampiric Scepter can build into Bloodthirster for great damage and lifesteal or a Stark's Fervor if no one else on your team has one. I recommend a Bloodthirster because the increased damage makes Gatling Gun deal more damage and the armor debuff from Stark's Fervor isn't really necessary with Gatling Gun and Black Cleaver.

Other Good Items on Corki

Manamune: Gives good damage and enough mana to keep you laning. Requires you to get a Meki Pendant as a first item and build it into a Tear of the Goddess.

Wriggle's Lantern: Helps for getting buffs and dragon as well as warding key location. Gives good stats but should be bought early.

Youmuu's Ghostblade: I usually get this item as my sixth item because it gives AD, Armor Pen, AS, Movement Speed, and crit chance just everything a growing Corki needs.

Sword of the Occult: Gives good damage but should only be bought if you are doing very well and don't plan on dying. Very risky for Corki because he can easily be focused and killed in team fights.

Madred's Bloodrazor: Gives attack damage, attack speed, and a great passive to counter health building champions.

Hexdrinker: If the enemy team is very caster heavy I sometimes like to get this item. If the enemy team has a Karthus this item is very good for countering Requiem.

Atma's Impaler: I know what your thinking "Atma's is only good on tanks." Well with Frozen Mallet and runes it gives about 55 AD and some good armor and crit chance.

Gameplay

Laning Phase

Going Mid Without a doubt take Dorans Blade as your first item. The key to playing Corki is farming and last hitting because your build is quite expensive. Do not spam Phosphorus Bomb too much because it costs a lot of mana. Make sure to save enough mana for a Valkyrie in case your opponent pulls a fast one or you are about to get ganked. Corki excels in not getting ganked with smart gameplay and Valkyrie. If your opponent tries to fight you by himself, a good Gatling Gun in their face will draw them off. Due to your passive, your auto-attacks pack a punch and can be a good form of harassment just be careful of minion fire.

Side Lane If your lane mate has a stun like Pantheon, Taric, or Sion, mixing those stuns with Gatling Gun will provide very good results. Try to last hit just like if you were in middle but be wary of your lane mate needing gold as well or if they are champions like Nasus or Veigar who need to last hit to become better late game. Try not to spam your abilities too much because mana is a problem for Corki. Only use Phosphorus Bomb to blind your opponent and don't use it so much for harassing. For harassing just use your buffed auto-attack.

Mid Game

Ganking Phase Mixed with a lizard buff, Corki is a great ganker. Rev up Gatling Gun and Valkyrie to your target. With the slow from lizard buff and the help from your team you should easily be able to snatch a kill. Just with a stand alone
Vampiric Scepter, Corki can kill lizard very easily.

Pushing Lanes and Farming Corki is very good at pushing lanes and farming minions. With Missile Barrage and Phosphorus Bomb you can kill a wave of minions in seconds. Jungling with Corki is very easy too with the same combination. Against lizard, golem, or dragon you will want to add in a Gatling Gun.

Small Team Fights Never initiate with Corki. You will be stunned and killed in an instant. Go in behind your tanks charge and activate Gatling Gun whenever you feel safe from death. When you go in make sure to hit as many enemies with Gatling Gun as possible. Try to save Valkyrie for whenever your enemies try to run away or to get away yourself if the fight is not in your favor.
