The runes that are optimal for
Darius are flat AD marks and quints, flat armor seals, magic resist per level glyphs.

Runes

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist: Provides MR per level, which will help out a little when fighting the AP in mid.
Greater Seal of Armor: Will give you extra armor when fighting you AD lane opponent.
Greater Mark of Attack Damage: Gives you more AD for farming and trading.
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage: Same as the Marks.
Good Summoner Spells
Flash: As
Darius, you should always get flash to secure kills, get away, and kill important opponents.
Ignite: Even though
Hemorrhage has a passive DoT, ignite is used to secure kills when opponent gets away.
Teleport: Just to be mean to the other lanes and have teleport ganks. They can see you in top, then the enemies get an ax to the face.
Debatable Summoner Spells
Ghost: Just used for chasing or getting away.
Heal: Can be used used to bait at early levels and also used to get out of certain situations.
Exhaust: Somewhat okay, will just slow opponents, but
Crippling Strike will do that for you.
Why would you get these?
Seriously, why would you even get these?

Here are the ability levels for
Darius

Why should I use this sequence?
- Max
Decimate because that is
Darius primary source of damage.
Apprehend is maxed last because all it is used for is for a gap closer, pulling the enemy to their demise.
Crippling Strike is mainly used for catching up to the enemy when they think they get away. Try to make them use
Flash right after they are hit with
Crippling Strike.
- Only use
Noxian Guillotine when the enemy has 4 or 5 stacks of
Hemorrhage, because you want to deal the most damage, and possible get the refresh.
The Build!
- Standard starting build with
Boots and 3
Health Potion, a standard start.
- Try to get 2
Doran's Blade for extra damage and extra health.
- Depending on your opponents' team composition, if you've won your lane, and how your team is doing, the rest of your build will be described below.
Core Items
Frozen Mallet is an annoying item on
Darius because he has an active slow, and this will give him a chance to slow his opponents. This means that they will have a smaller chance of getting away.
Sunfire Aegis is a good item to have in team fights because it does damage over time to all enemies, and
Darius should always be in the middle of the team fight.
Spirit Visage provides health, cooldown reduction, and magic resist. This will allow daius to use his abilities more often, thus maximizing his damage.
Black Cleaver gives damage, health, and armor penetration, and
Apprehend gives
Darius a passive armor penetration, thus increasing his damage output.
Atma's Impaler gives armor, and its passive gives AD based off 1.5% of max health. Give
Darius more damage, make him even more annoying.
Situational Items
- Get
Trinity Force if you have won your lane, or if your other lanes have snowballed. Will give you a lot of useful stats.
Last Whisper gives damage and flat armor penetration, thus making your attacks hurt even more than they do.
Guardian Angel is really nice when you are being focused in team fights. You will just get back up and pick up a few kills before they kill you again.
Randuin's Omen provides armor and has an active that slows all enemy champions. Really good way to catch back up to them.
Here's just a quick guide to some gameplay tips for
Darius. Use them if you believe they will help you out.

- When your lane opponent goes in to get a last hit on a minion, use
Decimate when they get in range to let them know that you can deal a good chunk of damage.
- Always engage with
Decimate, then
Crippling Strike. They will be slowed when they try to get away. So, when you see them run, use
Apprehend.
- When
Hemorrhage has stacked up to 4 or 5 on them, and they have low health, don't be afraid to use
Noxian Guillotine, even if you don't get a kill. You will make them leave lane, no matter what.
- As
Darius, prepare to be camped by the enemy jungler. So, WARD. It will save your life, trust me.
- When in a team fight, spam
Decimate whenever you can. You want to deal as much damage as possible.
So,
Darius is a strong top and is recommended to be built tanky. With this, his damage output is still high. Important in team fights,
Apprehend provides as a good exchange and a good way to pick off enemy champions one by one.
Basically as
Darius, build tanky and get kills.
