Introduction

Hello there fellow LoL players I'm Deraga and this is my first guide. Now to start off I love Shyvana she is a great melee dps with many unique abilitys. These abiltys are used really well in sequence with her item build. AS such I will note why each item works well with her later in the guide. Also you will notice a special theme with this build that makes it devistateing and great for farming. Yes this build is based off of movement speed, ganking, and dealing alot of damage just by standing near your opponent. Keep in mind this is a guide, it is only here to help improve and broaden your knowlage of the champion, so use it wisely.

Skill Sequence

Here I will discuss the skills of Shyvana and why each one is important in its own way.

Shyvana's attakcs enhance her abilitys(passive)

  • Twin bite-reduces the cooldown by 0.5 seconds
  • Burnout-extends the duration by 1 second max of 6 seconds
  • Fire breath-deals 15% of the damge to debuffed targets
  • Dragon's decent-attacks generate 2 furry and Shyvana passively gains furry while in human form

Shyvana strikes twice on her next attack
DRAGON FORM: Twin bite cleaves all units in front on Shyvana

This ability you will finish leveling second for paticular reasons. First off the downsides fo this is you have to be in close contact with the opponent which yes is the idea of Shyvana but there are easier ways of dealing damage than risking yourself to rush in. Now it is great for when you are harrasing your opponent early game and attacking minon waves to lower the CD to get right back at your oppenent. Mid to late game it will start becoming more usefull for taking down champions after you have more AS but untill then its for harrasing.

Shyvana surrounds herself in fire, dealing magic damage each second to nearby enemys and moving faster for 3 seconds. The movement speed reduces over the duration of the spell.
DRAGON FORM: Burnout scorches the the ground beneath it, enemys on the scorched earth continue to take damage.

This is shyvana's bread and butter, what makes her a threat just to stand next to. This is also the first spell you max out. First reason is that it gives you increased movment speed, which is great for escaping and chasing for a low CD. Its also one of the best farming methods which you will need with this build. Not only is it dealing damage per second but when maxed out does 85 damage a second and if it lasts its full duration thats 765 damage at lv 9! Plus whatever other abilitys you are using at the time. When combined with Sunfire Aegis makes everyone near you turn nice and toasty.

Shyvana unleashes a fireball that deals damage to the first enemy it encounters and leaves cinders on the target that reduces their armor for 4 seconds.
DRAGON FORM: Flame breath engulfs all units in a cone in front of her.

There is no doubt that this ability is high damage and it 3x better in dragon form, but you will only be using it for the mark it gives. In addition it is not good to lv first for this build, another reason it sould be lved last is that its based off AP boosts so it isn't as powerfull as the other moves till later game. Aside from its faults early game it has great range deals up to 215 damage maxed out, and makes a mark for you teammates to aim for. Besides the mark this ability has little to no use until late game.

Shyvana transforms into a dragon and takes flight to target location. Enemies along her path take damage and are knocked toward her target location.

Shyvana passivly gains armor and magic resistance. Defensive bonuses are doubled in dragon form.

This part of the section doesn't really need an explaination but I'm going to give you one anyway. Yes she turns into a draon but the special thing about this is that its a great ganking/escaping/chasing tool because the leap of her flight is so large. Once again just standing around will deal lots of damage but in this case even more damage because your Burnout scorches the ground and your standing next to them it will deal more damage. Its also a great way to get alot of ***its in a team fight if you don't get any kills by runing around the battle field. The cone damage from Flame Breath becomes devisateing and your Twin Bite cleaves everyone in front of you, whats not to love. Also while in this form you become more durable do to the double in your passive defensive increase. Any questions student?

Masteries

The mastery tree seems simple and not so well thought out but I assure you it was well thought out. The masteries go deeper into the utility tree because most utility options arn't as usfull as the offensive tree, but the point that are there are great for Shyvana for the movement speed, exp gain, and buff duration are all aspects that can make her devistateing in speed and power. Now the offensive tree is built more toward the top for its AS, CDR, and armor peircing. You do not benifit as much going down further in any tree. Yes utility can get you more CDR, yes offense can get you a little more damage, but you are either removeing your speed which is a great asset to Shyvana early and late game or your getting rid of some armor peircing for some AD. Pick your posin.

Runes

The runes I have put in this guide are for damage and slight early game protection.

greater mark of desolation
As a dps this rune is the standard for all game purposes in a melee fighter. Although it can be switched out for other runes such as Greater Mark of Attack Speed, or Greater Mark of Attack Damage though I do not suggest it.

This rune is great for early game survivability in any tree but considering Shyvana gets passive armor later on it only helps to boost that. Most commonly exchanged for Greater Seal of Evasion I would only suggest that if you go defensive tree . . . or jax :P

This glyph is great getting early AS which Shyvana lacks. Note that this is the ifiest rune in the setup. It can easily be replaced with Greater Glyph of Magic Resist or Greater Glyph of Health its all how you want to build it

greater quintessence of desolation
These two runes are great ones to pick, but like any other they can be replaced by many other things. In this case you can add movement speed, health, or even health regen its up to you. These two I highly suggest because they fit the build better than most.

Summoner Spells

Ok summoner spells are always on players choice. If you decided to be a jungler get Smite, if you want to play last hit go Ignite. There are many you can pick from but Exhaust and Flash are the ones I suggest for they work best in almost every situation. Exhaust can save you as much as helping you take down that peskey Malzahar. As there may be good choices there are bad ones as well like for instance please don't ever, EVER get Clarity, if you get Clarity for Shyvana please don't let anyone know, considering she doesn't have mana!

SUGGESTED SUMMONER SPELLS
  • Exhaust great for offense and defense
  • Flash amazing for escaping or chaseing
  • Ignite great for harrasing and last hit
  • Smite (if your jungling)

THE RUNNER UP CANIDATES
  • Heal its helpfull but your may not need it
  • Ghost helps you get away when burnout is on CD besides that meh
  • Cleanse good for getting away from CC but there are items for that
  • Teleport gets you where you wanna go s'bout it
  • Clairvoyance helps see area's on the map for a short time . . . meh

THE PLEASE DON'T GET THESE OR YOU'LL MAKE ME CRY

Items

Items are a big part of this build, which is why farming and gettin last hits is good. Which is also why this guide is built to have last hit capability and continual damage output instead of straight up nukes.

EARLY GAME

These are you early game smacking tools. Condidering Shyvana has low AS early game Berserker's Greaves seems to be the best option. Other boots can work as well Boots of Swiftness to make her unremakably fast, Mercury's Treads to help lower her time CC'd.
Wit's End is a great AS item that also early in the game gives an extra punch to each of Shyvana's attacks, and increase her MR. This also has other items that it can be replaced with but I feel it is best suited for this spot.
Zeal is another AS item that also gives bonus movement speed which is great on Shyvana.

MID GAME ITEMS

All of these items are great for mid game and the best part is you can pick them in any order. I suggest Trinity Force first because you gain the Sheen effect. Then its a toss up between Sunfire Aegis and Guinsoo's Rageblade. It all depends on if you need AD and AS which Guinsoo's Rageblade will give you or if you need some defense that Sunfire Aegis will get you with added damage.

LATE GAME

Now the last last two items are your choice but you should not need to get these items for a game shouldnt last this long. Hextech Gunblade is a great item for the build for all the 'vamp' it gives so you will be healing yourself quite a bit in the middle of combat. it also has a nice active to show that quick Teemo that keeps pokeing you. Aslo its AD and AP that it gives you is pretty fair considering the stats you will have before that. Bloodthirster is simply a cheaper beatstick that give a great amount of LS, unless you die then you start all over again "sigh". All in all its a cheaper better wepon in some cases as Hextech Gunblade is in others.

Summary

So to sum things up this guide helps you build a great damage over time Shyvana by just keeping near your opponent. It has everythings you need, lots of AD, lots of AS, and a decent amount of defense. Any comments you have please let me know so I may improve this guide. I thank everyone for reading and hope this will help you out in your future games to come.

I also want to give a special thanks to jhoijhoi for her making a guide . . . guide helped me make this pretty and organised thanks :D
