Introduction

Jax! The old OP favourite of many. the best counter to any. The legend of Dodge. The Grandmaster, at Arms!

Many have complained about this seemingly overdone 'nerf' styled redo. however, the New Jax, is better than ever.

Why?

Many people are still building Jax the old way, the obsolete way, the full hybrid way.
The new way to play Jax, is on hit effects and attack speed; The way some people choose to play AD Carries! such as Miss Fortune

Better yet! Jax is STILL TANKY! Just look at my sheet above (bearing in mind, for some strange reason, Mysteries are not taken into consideration. FIX THIS MOBAFIRE PLEASE!)

Damage output!

(before magic resist and armour is calculated as that is subject to target)

Damage output;

Per hit = 239 + 110 = 349

With trinity force(sheen) = 349 + 239x150%(358) = 707

Q leapstrike = 230 + 60%ap(75) + 100%ad(239) = 544

W Empower = 220 + 60%ap(75) = 295

E Counter Strike = 160 + 80%ad(191) = 251 (+ 30 for each attack dodged!)

R Relentless Assault passive = 220 + 70%ap(87.5) = 307.5 per hit

R Relentless Assault active = 65 + 20%ap(25) = 80ap
= 65 + 20%ad(48) = 113ad

Runes

Jax's runes are set to give him early lane strength. To last hit minions. To decimate opponents.

AD is the new way to play Jax. obviously not without AP, as that would be silly, but straying away from the idea as 'hybrid' and steering towards the Lampost, smashing your opponent's faces in.

However, to combat Jax's new found squishyness, the seals and glyphs are there as to allow you to be as agressive early game as you want to be, negating about 33 percent of all incoming damage!
Back to Top

Masteries

His masteries work on giving high damage output whilst the build skimps. THe masteries are full AD/AP+ and include crit strike for those lucky hits for extra damage!

There is no need to explain any further on why full damage, as it's Jax! he is the embodiment of damage! Read his Lore!

Yes you can spec into defense or utility, but only if you're playing a different champion!

Skill Sequence

While Empower is your main source of damage, ability wise, it's cooldown is fairly low. To combat this, you need to set it aside for leveling, and chose Leap Strike as your main option to level (no one likes that pesky AD Carry getting away) and Counter Strike as your second for the amazing DODGE! (Soon to be buffed!)

As for attacking an enemy:

To harass an enemy;

W - Empower

E - Counter Strike

Q - Leap Strike

You want to time it so that just after you land your Leap Strike, your Counter Strike activates the stun. This takes practice, but after one game, is easy to master! After the stun, run away, and repeat when all abilities are off cool down.

To kill;

do exactly the same as to harass, however, open up with your Ultimate, Relentless Assault , for extra damage from the start!
Back to Top

Summoner Spells

The summoner spells of choice are

and

These two summoner spells are your best friends. Both are increased in your masteries are are set to take anyone down.

The reasoning! Flash is obvious, but why Ignite over Exhaust ?
Well the simple reason is you are the anti-carry, or the assassin of the team. you job is to be adept at taking anyone down. The main threats are the carries; the champions with HUGE life steal or spell vamp like Xin Zhao or Caitlyn. Ignite's passive reduces the heal and gives you a one up on top of that, is extra damage and the beautiful DoT it provides, stopping them from escaping and you not getting the kill.

Other options;

Exhaust - if your team already have too many ignites (take with Flash)

Teleport - if you're playing solo top, or your team needs a teleporter. (take with flash)

Smite - if you want to jungle (take with Flash)

the rest of the summoner spells are off limits for Jax!

Flash is ALWAYS a must. This is because if you are ganked, you have no escape besides using your Leap Strike or if you are just too far to use Leap Strike to last hit (we all know how annoying that is!)

Items

The item choices are set to give you full laning prowess at level 1 through to team fight domination level 18!

At level one with no items, you'll notice the masteries and runes give you 78 AD to start!

This is why a Doran's Shield is needed! The extra health, armour AND +8hp regen per 5 is brilliant for staying in lane and getting right into the faces of your opponent.

You then move to a Vampiric Scepter for more healtg regen to out do your enemy, and work towards laning and farming for your Sheen

Sheen. This IS your main item for damage at early levels and beyond. however, i want you to take note, that this item adds to your next hit extra damage based off YOUR AD and thus, AD is now the way to go for Jax.

Then move to Wriggle's Lantern for the extra armour, lifesteal, free ward and extra damage, along with the lovely passive of extra damage to minions and monsters for an easier farm.

You next move on to your second high damage, core item;

Ionic Spark This item here is a godsend for any champion who auto attacks. Extra health, LOADS of attack speed, and a SWEET PASSIVE! (that isnt blocked by blinding effects like Blinding Dart)

The rest of the build, while recommended, is optional EXCEPT FROM;

Trinity Force

because it keeps the passive of Sheen to AD, not AP like Lich Bane which is not good!
Back to Top

Optional Items

This build is quite flexible in it's late game stage. The purpose of the build is to get you fed!

As you can see, the Hexdrinker is your last item. This item is optional, but for me, is preferred as it adds Attack Damege, Magic Resistance, and has a great passive!

Other optional Items include;

Banshee's Veil

If those pesky mages are taking you down too easy, or a certain spell is really getting you killed.

Guardieam Angel

If you're dying too quick, too often.

Aegis of the Legion

If your team need buffing in team fights.

Chalice of Harmony

If you're running out of mana too fast.

Force of Nature

If the enemy team is AP heavy, or the AP carry is hurting most

Quicksilver Sash

If you find yourself against lost of CC!

Wit's End

Need more attack speed and on hit magic damage? (good substitute)

Other Optional items instead of;

Berserker's Greaves

Wriggle's Lantern

UPDATES OR NOTES

Soon i will be adding the full level 18 stats sheet as MOBAFIRE doesn't take into account masteries or progressive/stacking items. ADDED

I will also be adding full damage sheet for each ability, and a run down of how much damage Jax deals (before armour and magic resist calculations) ADDED

Optional Items. ADDED

Summary

So in summary, Jax is still OP. Still a great champion. and still;

The Grandmaster at Arms.
