Jayce has a flexible skillset thanks to his ability of having two stances: Ranged Mercury Cannon and melee Mercury Hammer so that he can be multifunctioning in combat. He also bullies almost everyone in the lane thanks to Shock Blast + Acceleration Gate combo which I'll explain later. And he clears creeps easily w/ To The Skies! and Shock Blast, so he always push in the lane. |

Jayce needs to be casting abilities all the time, so he must keep an eye on his mana bar. Also, the only CC he has is a slow from To The Skies! and a knockback from Thundering Blow. That sometimes might not be enough. Also he lacks an escaping ability, so he is very vulnerable to ganks |
- Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage: Simply just add more damage for Jayce.
- Greater Mark of Attack Damage: As above.
- Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction: A littel bit CD reduction at early game helps Jayce to spam more.
- Greater Glyph of Mana Regeneration: This is extremely necessary for a mana-starving champion like Jayce.
- Greater Seal of Scaling Health: This is my personal choice. You can also take Greater Seal of Armor instead.
Flash is a must have, since Jayce have no escaping ability. The remain slot should be one of these:

I'd prefer this over since is countered by with Grevious Wounds.

We will want to maxed out To The Skies!/ Shock Blast (Q) first as it is our main source of damage. Then, I would prefer Lightning Field/ Hyper Charge (W) over Thundering Blow/ Acceleration Gate (E) as it will give you more damage and sustain. Rank your ultimate Mercury Cannon/ Mercury Hammer (R) whenever you can.

Jayce can easily win the lane against almost all matchups. Shock Blast + Acceleration Gate combo provides great poking, easily zone enemies from creeps, denying gold and xp. Just stays in Mercury Cannon form and farm. If the opponent jungler is coming to gank, quickly changes to Mercury Hammer, Thundering Blow him back and then run with the increased movement speed. If that's not enough, use Acceleration Gate right before switching and you will run to safety very fast. If you want to burst down your opponent, use this combo:
- Acceleration Gate + Shock Blast
- Switch to Mercury Hammer
- Run up and use To The Skies!, then auto-attack to proc the bonus magic damage
- Run pass your enemy and Thundering Blow him/her back
- Activate Lightning Field then switch back to Mercury Cannon
- Use Hyper Charge
If that's not enough, combine with an Ignite at the end and you will surely get the kill. Then just snowball him/her hard and roam to help other lanes
- Acceleration Gate + Shock Blast
- Switch to Mercury Hammer
- Run up and use To The Skies!, then auto-attack to proc the bonus magic damage
- Run pass your enemy and Thundering Blow him/her back
- Activate Lightning Field then switch back to Mercury Cannon

If that's not enough, combine with an Ignite at the end and you will surely get the kill. Then just snowball him/her hard and roam to help other lanes
Before teamfights, try to poke the enemies' carries of by using Shock Blast + Acceleration Gate a couple of times. Wait for your team to engage with hard CC, then pick the time to come in with To The Skies!. Always turn Lightning Field on while in the middle of the battlefield to deal a lot of damage. Finally, as soon as you jump in, Thundering Blow the enemy's tank out of combat, so your team can focus on the carries.
Jayce is very flexible, so he works well w/ all teammates. But the best teammates of his are initiators, who can apply hard CC after boosted by Acceleration Gate and protect him in combat, such as:

+ Morgana
+ Annie
+ Hecarim
+ e.t.c
Jayce shares the same weakness with all AD casters: late game weakness. Also champion with high mobility can easily dodge Shock Blast, such as:
- Yasuo
- LeBlanc
- Riven
or late game OPs like:
- Ahri
- Kassadin
can give Jayce a hard time
