His E passive, items and dmg make him a huge thread, besides him being quite strong rn. Go conqueror, try to squirmish early. Banning him is probably the best option tho.

Here I provided some short explanations of all the runes you should and can take on Rengar. I did not explain what every rune does since you can simply move your mouse cursor over the rune icon and it'll show you a description.
Keystone
Electrocute is a great rune for Rengar as it simply increases his Burst Damage and therefore makes it easier to kill enemy carries. It also scales great with the bonus AD from his passive.
Primary Options
Sudden Impact perfectly fits Rengar since he is almost always jumping. Eyeball Collection provides as much damage as Zombie Ward but is way easier to stack. Relentless Hunter is the most useful because junglers want to be moving around the map as fast as possible.
Secondary Options
Consistency is key in league of legends, Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight simply provide consistent stats and don't rly rely on anything. You could also take Future's Market instead of Cosmic Insight, which mostly guarantees Tiamat at first back but is less consistent, so it's personal preference. Another viable secondary Option is Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm. It's less consistent tho and needs time to scale. So I would only recommend taking it in Elo's lower than Platinum since games last longer in lower elo. |

Keystone
Conqueror is a great rune as it provides Rengar with some more damage and lifesteal. It's especially useful against strong early game junglers and allows him to win most skirmishes.
Primary Options
Triumph is the only viable rune on Rengar. Legend: Bloodline or Legend: Alacrity is somewhat personal preference. Though, I think that lifesteal can be more useful. Coup de Grace is the most useful because most enemies will be below 40% HP after Rengar's Burst.
Secondary Options
Sudden Impact perfectly fits Rengar since he is almost always jumping. The MS that Relentless Hunter provides is just rly useful for junglers. Another viable secondary option is Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight, as consistency is key in league of legends. They simply provide consistent stats and don't rly rely on anything. You could also take Future's Market instead of Cosmic Insight, which mostly guarantees Tiamat at first back but is less consistent, so it's personal preference. |
Build Order
Tiamat Tiamat is by far my favourite Item on Rengar. It improves his jungle clear speed. It increases his burst damage. But most importantly, it makes his animations look insanely satisfying (: |
Duskblade of Draktharr This is the item that provides you with the most damage, which is exactly what you want to take over a game as Rengar. Also, there will be the icon of Duskblade of Draktharr above your UI if you run by an enemy ward , which means that you will always know whether they have vision on you or not. Always buy Serrated Dirk first (more dmg). You don't build Skirmisher's Sabre on Rengar since Tiamat is enough to efficiently clear camps, and Duskblade of Draktharr is simply more valuable. |
Ghostblade/Edge of Night Your 3rd and 4th items are going to be those two. They are simply lethality items, which Rengar needs to burst down enemy carries. You usually want to go Youmuu's Ghostblade first since it grants CdR and a bit more dmg as well as MS, which is also quite useful as a jungler. But if the enemies have champs like Janna, Lulu, Thresh, etc. that can easily interrupt your jump, thus prevent you from killing the target you aimed for, you should buy Edge of Night over Youmuu's Ghostblade |
Lord Dominik's Regards Your 5th item should be Lord Dominik's Regards. Atleast by now the enemies should have built some armor, which means that you need armor penetration if you still want to deal some dmg. If the enemies build armor in an earlier phase of the game, which is often the case, then you should buy this item as your 4th. |
Boots As for any other jungler, movement speed is rly important. So atleast buying Boots in an early phase of the game (if you don't have Magical Footwear) is what you wanna be doing. As Rengar you want to prioritize dmg items but if you have 300 gold to spare then don't hesitate to buy them. You usually want to upgrade your boots to Ionian Boots of Lucidity since Rengar synergizes well with CdR but if the enemies have heavy AD or AP then you can consider buying Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads, usually in Mid-Game. |
Situational Items
Black Cleaver If you have 20% CdR or less and the enemies have some brusiers/tanks, this would be a great last item to build, since it gets you useful CdR and the tankiness + dmg to fight tankier enemies. |
Mortal Reminder If the enemies have heavy healing champs like Soraka and Yuumi and not atleast 1 or 2 of your teammates bought anti-heal, then this is the item you definitely should consider buying in exchange of Lord Dominik's Regards. |
Phantom Dancer If you want to hope for a lucky crit to destroy the enemy squishies and/or transition to crit Rengar if the game goes long enough, then you can consider going this item as your 5th. |
Infinity Edge If you decided to transition into crit and have enough gold, then this is the item to buy. You can swap your boots for it, which makes you loose some important MS but your dmg output will be insane. |
Ravenous Hydra This item is the upgrade of Tiamat. You can buy this item when you're already full-item-build. It grants you lifesteal and some more dmg. |
Trinity Force Trinity Force is the perfect item when you are full-item-build and coincidentally have 3100 gold to spare. Then you could sell your boots and buy this item. Provides some extra burst and dmg and enables you to literally oneshot turrets as Rengar |
Guardian Angel The only reason you would ever consider buying this item is if your teammates have no engage at all so that you can engage for them without inting. But usually you shouldn't rly buy this item since the others are too valuable. |
This is Rengar's most basic combo, the "Oneshot Combo", which you wanna be using to burst someone down.
You Q before you jump, then E right after jumping, then follow up with Tiamat and W. Then depending on the situation, you can use an Empowered Q, E or W.
For your E to hit, your cursor should be facing in the direction of where the target is moving.
The video shows the "Oneshot Combo" from two different perspectives, as well as with Emp Q and Emp W.
This is the "Triple Q Combo", which has an insane damage output and should be used whenever possible. You basically get 4 ferocity beforehand and then Emp Q before you jump, then E right after jumping, then follow up with Tiamat and W, which is followed up with a Q and another Emp Q.
The video shows the "Triple Q Combo" from two different perspectives.
This is the "Max Dmg Combo", which can be used if the usual "Oneshot Combo" is not enough to burst down the enemy and when the target has no possible escape. The "Max Dmg Combo" provides one more AA in about the same time, just a bit slower. You jump, E right after and then follow up with a Q, Tiamat, W right after landing. Then depending on the situation, you can use an Empowered Q, E or W.
The video shows the "Max Dmg Combo" from two different perspectives, as well as with Emp Q.
This is the combo that you can use when you are in a bush and an enemy is in melee attack range. You AA, then reset it with a Q and immediately follow up with an E, Tiamat, W. This leaves you with 4 ferocity so you can then decide what you want to use depending on the situation. Another variation would be , AA, E, Q, Tiamat, W but my variation looks better (:
The video shows the Combo as such, as well as with an Emp Q and Emp W
Ganking on Rengar is a bit more difficult since he doesn't have any reliable CC like Gragas's Body Slam and Rek'Sai's Unburrow or any reliable jumps like Kha'Zix's Leap. Rengar completely depends on his passive's jump and ferocity system. Thus, he depends on bushes and his Ult Thrill of the Hunt in order to make ganks successfull. Otherwise, Rengar is quite weak and can't rly initiate any ganks, atleast not if the lane you plan on ganking isn't completely overextended. So what you usually want to be doing pre level 6 or when your ult is down, is to gank from bushes that are either inside a lane or leading into it. Oftentimes, the enemies won't be in your jump range, which means that you want your teammates to initiate the fight by baiting, which can be tricky. If you try to gank with your Ult, you usually wanna try to flank in order to cut off their escape. If you run straight at them, they might just be able to run away cause of the marker above their head that warns them "!". Knowing how and when to approach ganks as Rengar is just rly specific and depends a lot on the situation. So it's a lot about experience, about personally figuring out how to make it work. In the video below, I provided some examples of how you can and usually should approach ganks as Rengar to give you some ideas.
The "Double Jump" is a rly useful mechanic as it enables a lot of outplay potential in specific situations and suprises the enemies. You basically just jump on a ward or an enemy that is inside a bush, then use Q - Savagery , which resets the AA to then jump onto another target. You can also follow up with combos as shown in the video below + some examples.
Rengar can use his Flash after pressing E - Bola Strike to increase the travel distance while cancelling the animation. He can also use his Flash while jumping, which 1. allows him to do the E - Flash Combo mid-air 2. to do other combos mid air, then Flash to escape or follow up on another target 3. to Flash Jgl Plants, which is all shown in the video below + some examples.
There are many useful jumps that Rengar is capable of doing, which some of you might not know yet. They can be used to be faster in the jgl, to chase someone or to escape. Some jumps such as the "blue buff jump" are a bit harder to pull off, so keep in mind how Rengar's Passive Unseen Predator works. He can still jump within 0.25s after leaving the bush, which means that you can leave the bush and then jump right after to get the small extra range that is needed for some jumps, as shown in the video below.
