Threats & Synergies
Carry ignite and it's a very easy matchup. It's a perfect counter to omnivamp and shroud because you get extra damage and possible passive proc rather than not being able to see her at all. Don't ult her unless her W is on CD or your ignite is off. Build spirit visage and try not to engage without ignite. Rocketbelt can help in this matchup, but if you're ahead just rush riftmaker like usual. Merc treads help with slow and give MR.
Carry ignite. Darius is very strong as of now and his all-ins hurt. A lot. Ignite helps just the little extra bit, especially if you use it during your ultimate. In my experience, thornmail works better than zhonyas due to the health increase and grevious wounds, so go for that. riftmaker is better than rocketbelt here because you're never chasing him unless he backs away for Q. If he has ghost it's a problem, though. go steelcaps for boots.
Killing Aatrox quickly is key. Carry ignite, rush bramble vest, and try to engage with a gank. Both Aatrox and Mordekaiser are juggernauts of sustain, and for the most part the matchup can go either way. It's easy to escape W with boots and passive MS so its not that big of a deal, but he can dodge your E very easily. Go riftmaker and fight it out, because if there's no grevious wounds involved it will take a while. go steelcaps here
Ahri is hard for mordekaiser to kill past level 6 because of her dash. Build spirit visage with rocketbelt and try to make good trades. Try to kill her early in the game. merc treads help immensely.
Do not pick mordekaiser against this character. If you find yourself in this matchup, run ghost with rocketbelt and wait for her wall to be on cooldown before you engage or you will get frozen to death. Build spirit visage and merc treads. Despite her nerfs she can very easily kill mordekaiser in most situations.
Try to ult her when she uses her ultimate, because it won't follow her. run merc treads for stun resistance here because it helps a lot with dealing with her passive. Spirit visage helps, but be careful of grevious wounds. riftmaker is probably the best decision because it helps with her poke. If she summons tibbers, wait it out because it kills him, and she now has significantly less burst power.
His stun can be annoying at times but it's easy to dodge if you know he's coming. Go rocketbelt and merc treads here because if you ult him he's gonna ult you back, so just dash right back at him.
Azir's slows can be painful here, but if you wait for him to use his ultimate it's over for him. None of his soldiers can follow him to the realm of death, so it's a very easy kill. Run riftmaker against poke and go merc treads.
Brand can burst the shit out of pretty much everybody, and 99% of the time he's gonna be running grevious wounds WITH ignite. He's mostly support, but if he's mid try to ult him off guard and rocketbelt to him. stuns are a pain as always, so use merc treads.
I haven't played much against Camille, but as far as dueling goes, just ult her when she does and it completely negates hers. If she builds sustain just go thornmail. Carry ignite like normal.
This is another extremely poor matchup for mordekaiser. pretty much the same thing applies here as it does for anivia, but cass has more kill power, meaning in the event where she doesn't have many resources left, she will still prove hard to kill. Merc treads help.
Build magic resist and try to prevent him from stacking. He has poor mobility similar to mordekaiser with high killing power, especially if he goes AP. If he's tank, rush riftmaker ASAP and if he's AP build spectres cowl quick and merc treads quick (also helps with silence). Try to cheese his ultimate with your W.
Despite a low playrate, corki does very well against mordekaiser because he is ranged with the ability to dash away once pulled in. Here, I reccomend thornmail with rocketbelt, because if you ult him when you pull him in, chances are he'll be too far from tower by the time it happens, and when he dashes away you can rocketbelt active after him. steelcaps works the majority of the time.
VAYNE LEAVE TOP LANE. If you're playing mordekaiser instantly ban this champion. She does % max health as true damage and can hit you away if you pull her in, then dash away. If you're laning against this champion, there's very little you can do. Build rocketbelt with heavy armor and HP items.
If she dashes in just ult her. Her poke is annoying but her scaling keeps her from being able to build grevious wounds since she usually goes for heavy AP with MP, so capitalize off of that.
Similar matchup to diana with an exception. Ekko can dash in, deal heavy damage, and teleport out in the blink of an eye. It helps that he's AP, so you can build spirit visage. Try not to get oneshot.
does this character even exist? run thornmail and rocket belt because he can teleport away. he's ranged AD, which is the worse scenario for mordekaiser, but just build thornmail and it should be OK.
Carry ignite. Fiora is a snappy combination of darius and camille. Build heavy GW with scepter and steelcaps. If she's slowed down enough you can kill her.
Build tank here. If you get ulted by him and see him dashing in, ult him quick to steal his AP so he does less damage with it, He's very squishy which means death realm is essentially a death sentence. Still a tough matchup, but he has no poke, so use that to your advantage.
The matchup here depends on if Galio is building tank or AP, with AP being the more likely option in season 11 with rocketbelt. If he's tank, build usual AP items like riftmaker and demonic embrace. If he's AP, build spirit visage with mercury's treads. Generally an easy matchup, and taunting doesn't end well him. Merc treads helps a little bit with the taunt.
I'm only putting him this high up because, one, his W allows him to escape the death realm (BY EATING AN ORANGE), and two, he slows you quite a bit. Thornmail would be optimal especially if he's running divine surrender here, but chances are he's building trinity force for extra Q damage. Build cosmic drive for less CD and more MS, and build armor.
Zoe is very annoying. I don't usually recommend cleanse, but here it's a necessity. Go for merc treads to reduce time asleep and be smart or get punished.
The trick is to only engage here if his W is off cooldown, otherwise he's gonna throw it and create a distance farther than your E can even reach. Ziggs has a LOT of poke, but despite this you'll need rocketbelt or you'll never be able to hit him. Run treads so you're slowed less by his E and it should help alot.
Zed used to be the absolute best possible pick in mid lane, but now it's not so much. You're gonna get slowed a lot in this matchup and poked indefinitely. Definitely run doran's shield and maybe even second wind rune. You can't really build items against zed since his only weakness is armor which he shreds through. Try to go tanky with this one or your gonna get dived every time his ult is off cooldown.
I've never played much against gnar, but I know his passive helps him kite A LOT, so go scepter here. Your ultimate punishes him trying to go in, and he usually goes black cleaver so armor usually doesn't work well. Steelcaps helps with ranged poke, though.
Although mundo regenerates a lot of HP, if you run grevious wounds he's pretty much useless, so run ignite. The only problem is that he'll usually regen that back. if you ult him you steal 10% of his HP so use that to your advantage. He only does real damage up close, quick mordekaiser usually wins against most champions.
The poke is very annoying here, but once you reach level 6, go all in, wait for him to use his ultimate (usually on the turret) then use yours. His turrets can follow him to the realm of death, and if he already used his stun its pretty much over for him. Run riftmaker to help with the poke.
Every single one of yorick's summons cannot follow him to the realm of death, so carry ignite to killl him there quick. chances are he's running divine surrender, so MAYBE build thornmail.
Carry ignite. Yone's standard build makes it hard for him to run grevious wounds, but he will most likely build QSS for obvious reasons. The good thing about this, however, is that you still keep 10% of core stats for the 7 second duration, so still try to kill him while you can. Definitely run thornmail, as he will most likely build shieldbow into bloodthirster.
Pretty much the exact same thing applies here as it does to yone
not much to be said here. he's very similar to ziggs has more chances to land his R. he can't build anything against mordekaiser except veil, so just try to get rid of it before casting your ultimate or absolutely nothing will happen here. run merc treads to counter his E+W combo and it should be smooth sailing. Run riftmaker for the obvious poke sustain.
Try to use your ultimate after his, as the knockup will drastically reduce your effectiveness in the death realm. Wukong's passive gives him armor making this a tough matchup for him. I'll try to keep this updated because i don't know what happens if you ult a clone. Try not to though.
this matchup is easy if you know how warwick's kit works. the lower his health, the more damage he deals and heals for. when you ult him, chances are he will ult you back because it will reduce your ability to deal damage during the real of death by 1.5 seconds, and his E reduces damage and fears you. warwick actually does a lot of magic damage, so spirit visage helps. carry ignite to kill him when he's weak otherwise he'll sustain big time. keep your health up with your W otherwise it's not worth saving. run thornmail for more GW.
volibear has abnormal kill pressure if he lands his abilities, but your ultimate is very similar to his. most scenarios you'll need ignite.
Vladmir is pretty much just really annoying. wait for him to exit his untargetable state before ulting him otherwise he'll be invincible for a solid 3 seconds of your ult. use sprit visage and morello for more dominance.
Viktor actually does a lot of damage, so make sure to run magic resist. cleanse actually helps because of his CC
this is probably one of mordekaisers worst matchups considering that velkoz can stay out of reach while dealing maximum damage with poke. he'll probably stay under tower for the majority, but if you run rocketbelt you might be able to kill him quickly while he's overextended with your ult.
Veigar is similar to vel'koz with the main downside being that he has to get closer to deal real damage. His E cannot follow you to the death realm, so use this to your advantage when he's getting greedy for stacks. try to cheese his ult with your W and use merctreads in case you get stunned.
if he E's you just ult him so its harder for him to get to tower. try to cheese his ult with your W, and remember to stay on the same side of urgot the entire fight.
run cleanse + merctreads. both the slow of the red card and stun of the gold card are very hurtful and can damage the utility of your ultimate. he will try to stay out of range most of the fight, so rocketbelt is viable.
Another one of mordekaiser's worst matchups. Get too close, you're dead. Its extremely easy for tryndamere to kill you due to his passive crit chance, which is mordekaiser's main weakness. The worst part is that his ultimate lasts 5 whole seconds, meaning that you have 2 seconds to kill him in the death realm if he has it off cooldown. he also gets great escape with his E, and benefits very much off of being close. everything about this matchup is bad for mordekaiser since tryndamere is the bane of sustain. Armor is a necesity here.
Who doesn't hate this character? When you E, auto him before Q otherwise you wont be able to proc your passive because of blinding dart. If you run scepter its almost a guaranteed kill should you pull him in. Run riftmaker to help with poke unless he starts building GW. rocketbelt is viable.
Not only can talon go invisible during your ultimate, but also deal damage while doing so. this matchup is similar to zed, but talon has slightly more mobility.
It will be a long time before someone dies in this fight, so run grevious wounds. Merc treads helps in this fight along with spirit visage. Riftmaker is perfect for both magic penetration and sustained damage so pick it up.
Just like viktor and malzahar, she can stay away from you while dealing heavy damage and cc. cleanse is an option here, and theres not too much to say that's not already been said.
Do your best to dodge his stuns and slows, especially during the death realm. Sion can negate a ton of armor, especially when building lethality. However, it's important to know that sion gains permanent health when killing a unit, so do your best to keep him from farming. It's very easy to E him if he's charging his Q, but he can ult right before you pull him, negating it entirely. Also try not to ult him during his, because he's unstoppable during it.
Most important thing to know about this matchup is that you cannot E or R her during her stance. Try to ult her after she uses hers because the knives do not travel to the realm of death. 99% of irelias run corrupting potion at the start, so just out sustain her. Try to cheese her Q when she's cs'ing when she overextends. Ignite helps here.
Nasus is very similar to mordekaiser with less power to confirm kills, but has late game scaling. Try not to let him stack and carry ignite for when he ults. He does a lot of damage with auto attacks so thornmail also helps here. Merc treads helps with his W slow.
AD Wukong. Ult her when her clone is off cooldown and carry cleanse because she has a lot of stuns. Build magic resistance and make it hard for her to CS.
When he ults, E him away. Once he wastes his resources getting back to you to, ult him and he has no way of getting away. Ignite and thornmail helps because renekton heals a lot.
tentacles wont follow you to the death realm. easy kill because her kit doesn't really let her build against you.
Another poor matchup for mordekaiser. E him away when he uses his counter and build thornmail. His ultimate counters yours in almost every way. If you find yourself in this matchup, remember that his only form of mobility is his leap to ally / enemy.
Merc treads for MR and tenacity here. Chances are he's not building tank because mordekaiser is AP. Punish his ult and go omnivamp for his Q poke for extra sustain.
Main thing to note here is that Ornn is unstoppable during his W, meaning there's a chance he can cheese your ultimate. Other than that, morde shreds tanks so you should be fine here.
Pretty much everything about Kassadin is bad for mordekaiser. Right off the bat he takes decreased magic damage due to his passive, he can dodge your abilites with his ult, and silence you with his Q. Merc treads are necessary.
You are on his property. Don't ult kled when his courage is above 30% otherwise he will remount before you can kill him. He has a god tier engage so try to avoid a fight unless he's wasted all his resources starting one.
Main thing to note here is that she can teleport out of range of your abilities VERY easily, so beware of that. If she has a large amount of knives on the ground and teleports close to your tower, ult her and the knives will not travel with you.
Kayle's new buffs not only make her harder to kill but also played more. She's starting to be played more in mid, but just watch her mana and try not to get outranged to death. TIme your E during her ult because she stops to hit the ground for a small amount of time.
Build spirit visage with merc treads. If he builds stopwatch to use with his ult, try to time your E into your R for an easy kill.
If she wants to chase you for extra damage on her chain, maker her regret it by pulling her in with E. Build spirit visage to deal with the constant harassment.
When she ults, try to get her into a good position for E>R. Treat it like a stopwatch. If you do a good job at it it's an easy kill.
Poke is annoying here, but its just a standard bruiser vs. mage matchup. wait until she runs out of mana before doing anything serious. build vamp to counter poke
build spirit visage and oblivion orb and you'll never die to this guy.
Q root, E slow. She's pretty squishy and has no good way of countering your ult if you have merc treads or you're close enough to be able to hit her with abilities.
I really hate how lucian is now an acceptable top, mid, and bottom pick. He doesn't slow you, making it easy to close distance. Bad part is he can dash out of your E and make you want to kill yourself for the 20 more seconds you have to wait.
Almost as bad as vayne. However, Quinn's kit actually requires her to interact with you so it's more easily punishable. Try to E her or R her when she leaps off of you.
Knockup is annoying and shield is annoying. Just run GW here and forget about both of those. The dashes are hard to deal with because she can dodge your E. So, use it sparingly or in the realm of death where she has most likely used all her dashes running away.
Not much to worry about here. Rumble is a bit like mordekaiser but a lot less pressure when up close. So, just ult him and close distance. He doesn't really have a good way of escaping, so use that to your advantage.
Sett has abnormal amounts of pressure when he's next to you, so just try to slow him. When he ults you, ult him back because you'll be in most likely a disadvantageous position. Go for mobility here, and E him way when he pulls you in.
Singed's ult almost entirely negates yours. If he throws you back into his abilities, ult him so it doesn't travel to the realm of death and you'll also be between him and his tower in most cases.
Sion's kit is pretty avoidable. Just make good trades and try not to get hit by his Q. Stay a decent range from him or get burned A LOT by his passive stacks with sunfire cape.
Potential passive proc along with Q fear and E silence helps a lot. Originally a support character, after all.
Champion Build Guide
Hey all! I'm MobsterPlatypus and I've now been playing League of Legends for just over a year! The reason I'm making this guide is that I'd, one, help people become more familiar with the champion and shine more competitive light, and two, educate myself in the process. I have mastery 6 (45,000 points) on Mordekaiser and picked him up near when I started playing. He's quite the fun champion, and, from what I've heard, doesn't live up to his pre-rework status. But I think that's all a bunch of baloney. There's nothing like snowballing a game of league as an alluminum beverage can, and this guide can help you know how!

Mordekaiser is a Top/Mid lane AP Bruiser that stacks off of AP and HP Items. He has long cooldowns but rewarding damage and is one of the most intimidating characters in the game. Lets start with his abilities.
PASSIVE - Darkness Rise
Mordekaiser's basic attacks deal 40% AP bonus magic damage on-hit.
Damaging basic attacks and basic abilities grant Mordekaiser a stack for 4 seconds for every enemy Champion icon.png champion or large Monster icon.png monster hit, stacking up to 3 times. At 3 stacks, Mordekaiser gains Darkness Rise. Subsequent damaging attacks and basic abilities against enemy champions and large monsters refresh the duration.
DARKNESS RISE: Mordekaiser deals 5 − 15 (based on level) (+ 30% AP) (+ 1% − 5% (based on level) of target's maximum health) magic damage per second to all nearby enemies and gains 3% bonus movement speed. The damage against monsters is capped at 28 − 164 (based on level).
Mordekaiser's passive darkness rise looks like a scary blender of metal that hurts just as much. On top of that, he has magic damage on hit that stacks with nashor's tooth. Above all of this is a slight 3% extra movement speed buff, meaning it stacks with movement speed. It can also help you get in that last auto-attack or Q to keep your passive up.
Q - OBLITERATE
ACTIVE: Mordekaiser smashes the area in the target direction, dealing magic damage to all enemies hit, Critical strike magic icon.png increased if it hits only one enemy.
5 − 139 (based on level) (+ 75 / 95 / 115 / 135 / 155) (+ 60% AP)
ISOLATED DAMAGE INCREASE:
30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50%
9 / 7.75 / 6.5 / 5.25 / 4
This ability is BRUTAL. Recently buffed, solo hits do MASSIVE DAMAGE. It's good for cs'ing since morde doesn't have mana, in the realm of death where the damage is accounting for things like stat steals and passive magic penetration from his E, and in team fights where you can proc your passive easily off of multiple champion hits.
W - INDESTRUCTIBLE
PASSIVE: Mordekaiser stores 35% of the post-mitigation damage he deals and 15% of the pre-mitigation damage he takes (reduced by 75% for non-champion sources), as Potential Shield on his secondary resource bar, up to 30% of his maximum health. The Potential Shield decays by 8 − 25 (based on level) every second after not dealing or taking damage for 1 second, down to a minimum of 5% of his maximum health.
ACTIVE: Mordekaiser consumes all his current Potential Shield to shield himself for 4 seconds for the same amount. At the start, the shield decays very slowly but exponentially increases near the end. Indestructible can be recast after 0.5 seconds.
RECAST: Mordekaiser consumes the remaining shield, healing for a percentage of the amount.

A lot of people tend to complain about this ability, specifically the healing portion. However, the healing portion helps A LOT for lane sustain without omnivamp, and was designed the way it was for a reason. The best part about this ability is that both the shield and healing can be amplified by spirit visage, since it increases health AND healing / shielding effects. Don't wait until the end to recast because the longer you wait, the less healing you'll get.
E - DEATH'S GRASP
PASSIVE: Mordekaiser gains magic penetration
ACTIVE: Mordekaiser grants sight of the target area briefly and, after 0.5 seconds, pulls all enemies within for 250 units, dealing them magic damage.

This move is great, don't get me wrong, but the cooldown is HURRENDOUSLY long, especially at low levels. If you land this move below ability level 3, cast your ultimate when they reach you. You already have one out of the three required stacks for the passive, and they're right next to you so there's no point in not doing it. Another way to use this move is to pull enemies away from you in times of danger.
R - REALM OF DEATH
"You're going to brazil..."
ACTIVE: Mordekaiser slows the target enemy champion by 75% during the cast time, after which they're banished together with Mordekaiser to the Death Realm for 7 seconds.
Units between realms see each other as spirits, considering each other dead and negating any interactions between the two. Only the target and Mordekaiser will enter the realm; other champions cannot follow them. Everything that occurs inside the Death Realm is hidden, and all pets still inside are killed at the end.
For the same duration, Mordekaiser also consumes the target's soul, reducing their current attack damage, ability power, total attack speed, maximum health, armor, magic resist, and size by 10%, in addition to gaining them for himself. If the target dies while inside, Mordekaiser keeps their partial stats until they respawn.
If one of the two affected champions leave the Death Realm, because of having died or having it dispelled, the other will do so as well, but the stats will remain stolen for the full duration.
140 / 120 / 100
The one-way ticket to the league of legends equivalent to Brazil. Taking 10% of his target's stats, Mordekaiser brings them to a realm of death that is considered an immobilization effect, meaning cleanse, QSS, or any similar abilities could remove them from the realm. He still keeps the stats, but they are returned to summoner's rift.
So now that you know his abilities, let's get into possible combos and item synergies.
GENERAL TIPSTo initiate mordekaiser passive, you must land 3 hits on champions or large jungle monsters in a short amount of time. The good part about this, however, is that you can get more than one hit to count towards it with a single ability. Death's Grasp does actually count toward the three hits, but only use it to do that if you're in the Realm of Death and need to kill your opponent quicker. For mordekaiser, combos are a thing, but because of his long cooldowns you need to be smart about how you use his abilities. Remember that Obliterate does extra damage to isolated targets.
As for items, Riftmaker is usually the way to go, but Rocketbelt recently got its health amount buffed resulting than a higher amount than Riftmaker. Still, Riftmaker has sustained damage and omnivamp, making it the better decision in most cases.
The most meta rune on mordekaiser. Sustained fights? Check. %dmg dealt returned as hp? Check. Good tree? Check. Pretty much everything about conqueror makes you want to slot it as a keystone. And, might as well combine it with domination. Anyways, let's get into the reasoning for the specific runes.
Most popular rune out of the three in the group. Extra healing off a kill is good for morekaiser, and the gold helps him snowball to late game. Presence of mind is irrelevant since mordekaiser has a shield bar with no resources, and overheal is, well, overheal. Nothing special about that.
With poor mobility, mordekaiser's main weakness is either getting outranged or CC. So, anything you can do to help prevent that is good, which is this rune. Bloodline doesn't help because mordekaiser doesn't scale off AD.
Coup de Grace / Last Stand
Although coup de grace used to be meta, last stand is seeing a higher presence. Why this is is unknown to me, but I just use Coup de Grace. The difference is small, but you do technically do more damage with last stand if the situation calls for it.

UNIQUE PASSIVE – VOID CORRUPTION: For each second in combat with champions, deal 2% increased damage, stacking up to 5 times for a maximum of 10%. While this effect is fully stacked, convert 100% of the bonus damage into true damage.
MYTHIC PASSIVE: Empowers each of your other Legendary items with 2% omnivamp and 8 ability power.
This item is going to be the item built on mordekaiser a lot of the time. Although recent changes make people say it is "unusable" with the omnivamp tanked to make it a better late-game item. However, this just makes mordekaiser's case better. Although long periods of time in combat tend to happen less and less the later games progress, mordekaiser's ultimate negates that downside entirely allowing you to stack the passive before engaging the enemy team head-on. The health changes are also very beneficial as well. Paired with spirit visage this item is VERY strong.

MYTHIC PASSIVE: Empowers each of your other Legendary items with 5 magic penetration.
UNIQUE ACTIVE – SUPERSONIC: Dash in the target direction, though not through terrain, unleashing an arc of 7 rockets that deal 125 (+ 15% AP) magic damage. Then, gain 30% bonus movement speed toward enemy champions for 1.5 seconds (40 second cooldown).
Supersonic resets the user's basic attack timer.
Although the rocketbelt doesn't give cooldown reduction or omnivamp, it gives a lot of health, which W scales with. More importantly, however, its active ability gives extra movement speed. This is amazing for mordekaiser. The possible combinations all work extremely well, such as Flash+R+Rocketbelt or E+Rocketbelt. You can also reach 40% magic penetration with this item as well since it has the same passive legendary item buff. It's not very good for teamfighting though, so don't usually get this item unless the enemy team is low hp with high mobility, or, unless your fed obviously.

MYTHIC PASSIVE: Empowers each of your other Legendary items with 5 ability haste
UNIQUE PASSIVE - SOULREND: Damaging an enemy champion deals 125 (+ 15% AP) bonus magic damage and grants you 25% bonus movement speed for 1.5 seconds, with the duration extending upon damaging new champions (40 second cooldown per champion).
Decent, but Morde's least popular "viable" item. The stats are similar to rocketbelt with the main difference being the passive Soulrend. Though Mordekaiser is good in sustained battles, this item also lets some nutty stuff happen in the realm of death. Damaging enemy champions or epic monsters with this effect adds a stack for 5 seconds, increasing subsequent Immolate damage by 10%, stacking up to 6 times for a 60% increase.
UNIQUE PASSIVE – FLAMETOUCH: At maximum stacks, your basic attacks explode around you, burning nearby enemies for your current Immolate damage for 3 seconds.
MYTHIC PASSIVE: Empowers each of your other Legendary items with 5 ability haste.
This item is one you usually will not see. Although it barely stacks with any of his abilities, it synergizes with mordekaiser's character. In addition to giving extra health and ability haste, it burns nearby enemies all while giving resistance bonuses. It's a very good item because it combines very well with his passive. Another thing to note here is that it deals extra damage based on health, which you steal in the realm of death.

UNIQUE PASSIVE - UNMAKE: Immobilizing an enemy champion increases the damage they take by 10% for 4 seconds.
Usually, you see this item on complete tanks, and rarely at all. However, the 10% increase applies to both mordekaiser's E and R, so it compensates for its lack of appealing stats for a mage or bruiser character. Only run this item against almost complete AP teams and a 100% AP top laner.

UNIQUE PASSIVE - ANNUL: Creates a spell shield that blocks the next enemy ability. The shield refreshes after no damage has been taken from enemy champions for 40 seconds.
I don't like this item all that much. Yes, the ability haste is nice, and yes, the ability power is great too. however, I don't like the idea of the passive that much, and can just be poked off. Like the mask, only use this against AP teams, but I would pick mask instead of this if you don't already have a tank on the team.

Good item on mordekaiser, and hardly one you ever see in-game. Changes to this item actually make it viable, with ability haste being a necesity along with the movement speed. Very straightforward item.

UNIQUE PASSIVE - SHIPWRECKER: While moving, build stacks of Momentum, granting up to 60 bonus movement speed at 100 stacks. Momentum decays by 3 every 0.25 seconds while immobilized. Attacks deal 1 magic damage on-hit per stack of Momentum, consuming all stacks. At max stacks, the target is also slowed by 50% for 1 second if the attacker is melee.
This in general is a really good item, not just on Mordekaiser. If you're not playing against CC, this is a really good item for both armor and mobility. It's good for slowing after you ult somebody too, making for an easy kill.

UNIQUE PASSIVE – AZAKANA GAZE: Dealing ability damage to enemies causes them to take 4.8% of their maximum health as magic damage over 4 seconds. Gain 10 bonus armor and 10 bonus magic resistance while enemies are afflicted, both increased by 2.5 for each additional champion affected.
Synergizes well with his passive, provides him extra resistances and ability power, all while increasing his health? Easily mordekaiser's best legendary. Buy this legendary first almost every single game unless you're against Aatrox and have to build grievous wounds or something. Amazing item and you don't even need high amounts of ability power to do damage with it.

UNIQUE PASSIVE – ABSORB: Taking ability damage grants you 6 bonus movement speed and 4 bonus magic resistance for 5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times for a maximum of 30 bonus movement speed and 20 bonus magic resistance. Each unique ability gives 1 stack.
The Magic Resistance equivalent of Dead Man's Plate. Take dead man's pros and cons and flip them on their head. As a bruiser you'll take a lot of CC, so this item is OK for morekaiser. Not reccomended if you already have a tanky character on your team, though, because you're better off building items that work better with mordekaiser, like spirit visage.

UNIQUE PASSIVE – DEATHWALKER: Gain 5 ability power for each stack of Glory and 10% bonus movement speed if you have at least 10 stacks.
The ultimate mordekaiser snowball tool. If it only had ability power, this item would be irrelevant. However, because of the health bonus, it adds to his juggernaut status. Mordekaiser's ability to isolate enemies and kill them allows him to stack very easily, especially if you play conservatively. It's a risky item, but if you manage to get max stacks its worth it. Cheap item too.

UNIQUE PASSIVE – SPELLBLADE: After using an ability, your next basic attack within 10 seconds deals 150% base AD (+ 40% AP) bonus magic damage on-hit (2.5 second cooldown, begins after using the empowered attack).
This item is expensive and not essential to Morde's kit so do NOT build it when behind. One good thing is that it's free damage after you use any ability, even realm of death, which, by the way, makes it do MORE damage since you're taking both AD and AP from the enemy which this item scales off of. Also, more movement speed is better for mordekaiser. Underrated item on him.

UNIQUE PASSIVVVE – AFFLICTION: Dealing magic damage to enemy champions inflicts them with 40% Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds, increased to 60% if the target is below 50% of their maximum health.
Thing to note here is that the passive applies to all magic damage, regardless of their damage classification. So, % health magic damage from both Mordekaiser's passive and auto attacks OR burning damage from demonic embrace ALL inflict grievous wounds. A total win too because grievous wounds got extended from 2 to 3 seconds for every item. It's also a necessity in top lane at this point.
