Sett Guide (WIP)

Itemization
Doran's Blade:

Take Doran's Blade into match ups you win early game, so you can auto them and benefit from the omnivamp this item provides. Better than Doran's Shield in those fighting match ups.

Doran's Shield:

Take Doran's Shield into match ups where you can't auto them, you flat out lose trades, or you get poked a lot. You should look at the Doran's Shield icon above your HUD above your coolsdowns to see if it is passively healing, you usually want to gage if it is worth getting into poke range for cs to heal back up with second wind as well. You should look at your small rune section next to your champion icon in the HUD to heal back up with your second wind, it lasts only a little bit longer than your Doran's shield passive.

Plated Steelcaps:

Against AD compositions, or laning against AD. The auto passive feels really nice against fed ADCs or anyone who autos a lot.

Mercury's Treads:

Against AP compositions, although you hardly build it for the MR and should think about the tenacity it provides first and foremost.

Boots of Swiftness:

Good against slows. Allows you to gap close easier, really good into comps that are mixed damage and don't have a lot of cc or auto attackers to get more value from the other boots. Baus approved.

Goredrinker:

The premier teamfight item. If you see their composition and think you'll be teamfighting to win a lot of the time and you think you can get a 3 or more single proc of the active, you'll be able to see this item shine. The ability haste passive feels nice.

Build Path:
> >

Stridebreaker:

Generally good item that allows you to stick onto your opponents, gives you HP and AD, and the bonus attack speed feels nice. You get your value from the movement speed passive. Really good on the split and vs ranged opponents so you can run away and approach as you please.

Build Path:
> >

Titanic Hydra:

The perfect item for Sett. Makes his bonus HP values turn into AD. All of Sett’s W damage is based off both those values, it also allows for his damage overall to go up considerably, due to all of the new AD he gains. You can not freeze anymore or slow push effectively after getting this item/Tiamat, so be wary. Easy to funnel gold due to cleave passive on autos, great for shoving waves and leaving lane.

Build Path:
> >

Blade of the Ruined King:

This is situational rush item that you should 100% rush into Darius, Fiora, and Mordekaiser,(maybe Volibear?) anytime you take lethal tempo this is a must. Allows you to stick onto your opponents which is Sett's biggest weakness. Allows sustain in lane early without completing your item.

Build Path:
> >

Force of Nature:

Good vs sustained magic damage, or against the split vs an AP threat.

Build Path:
> >

Black Cleaver:

Good at shredding tanks, very good with a full AD team as you can increase your teams damage as well as your own with the shred. Potentially sell boots late game for this item.

Build Path:
> >

Guardian Angel:

The Xiao Chao Meng special, gives you good AD, good item components, stopwatch is really good on Sett. Allows you to dive and get an extra rotation of Goredrinker on spawn so you can get another rotation off.

Build Path:
> >

Deaths Dance:

Good when you're snowballing or you're against heavy AD compositions. Anti-synergy with Sterak's Gage, due to the bleeding going on Sterak's shield.

Build Path:
> >

Chempunk Chainsword:

The premier anti-heal item on Sett. Gives you all the stats you want, HP and AD. Better than Thornmail in most situations, good against people who heal and don't auto attack much.

Build Path:
> >

Thornmail:

The other anti-heal option if you get auto attacked much and they heal. Preferred to Chempunk Chainsword when you need to be a good frontline to your team.

Build Path:
>

Maw of Malmortius:

Another Magic resist item, better against burst mages/assassins like Akali, Veigar, etc., people who will suddenly burst you with AP. This will not let you be able to buy Sterak's Gage, so be mindful of that when building it.

Build Path:
>

Sterak's Gage:

Build around 4th or 5th item, it allows your W damage and general damage do a lot more. Gives you all the stats you want, general good item if you don't know what to build/the opponents have 2 fed types of damage/true damage/AD burst.

Build Path:
> > > >

Randuin's Omen:

Good against auto attacker champions, especially someone like Tryndamere who just wants to auto you to death. The slow is a good active to use when you dive the backline and want to stick on an ADC. Good against Critical Damage, like a fed Attack Damage Carry.

Build Path:
> >

Anathema's Chains:

Good in two situations. A) They have 4 AD/AP and there is one AD/AP that you want to Anathema's so you can stack the appropriate resists. B) They have a giga-fed player and you want to take less damage and CC them longer. Think of a fed Yi.

Build Path:
>

Spear of Shojin:

This is a somewhat mid-late game item or a come back item, depending on how good you're doing. If ahead, after buying Titanic get a resist item (Think Force of Nature, Thornmail, or Randuins etc.) then buy Shojin, it is good against mixed ranged damage as you gain speed no matter what the damage, and you get more AD to W those squishy backliners. If you're behind, access if their carry is too fed to one shot, if they aren't, build Shojin and try to destroy their carry.

Build Path:
> >

Dead Man's Plate:

This is when they have two ranged AD champions, (Think a composition where they have an ADC and Kindred jungle or Jayce top) and you need to close the gap. An item to rush in the support role due to the rotations you can do to roam more.

Build Path:
> >

Gargoyle Stoneplate:

This is a very specific item, when you run Spirit Visage, you now have access to this item if they have another carry and you need to live through burst. Very good with ocean soul. Otherwise this item is good versus mixed burst similar to Steraks, if you need double survivabilty in that burst this will also do the trick.

Build Path:
> >

Spirit Visage:

This is a specific item, you will need two enchanters on your team to see it fully outweight the benefit of Force of Nature's speed and survivabilty. Think of Ivern jungle and Soraka support, or Karma top and Sona support etc. If you don't have two enchanters, to get full value of this vs Force of Nature, you must be stacking ocean soul late game and get ocean soul plus an enchanter on your team for this to be worth it. Yes, Force of Nature is that good on Sett.

Build Path:
>

Silvermere Dawn:

Build this versus Mordekaiser, Warwick, Skarner, or Malzahar. R's be damned. You can sit on sash and finish it when you're done with your other items, or build it right away if you need it versus them.

Build Path:
> >

Wit's End:

Rush this versus Mordekaiser + 1AP source, you will be running lethal tempo. You run this due to when Mordekaiser R's you, he will steal your stats, and all Wit's End does for relevant stats is give him AD and attack speed, almost useless stats for Mordekaiser, while you get MR, AD, and AS. Not worth running if you are getting camped by an AD jungler for example with Mordekaiser.
