Introduction
This is basically my first guide on Mobafire but still, i want to present you why I play Viktor and how i like to play him.
May I invite you to the glorious evolution? We'll show the true power of Viktor and why metal is perfection!
Keep in mind that I'm only giving you advices. You are free to test new things as you wish.
In addition, i try to keep things compact and informative. There are some awesome in-depth guides out there. Check'em!
Pros
+ Nice AOE Ultility (Damage and Stun)+ Very safe from ganks if gravitiy field is placed properly + Very good poking abilites + Quite Tanky for a mage + Silence on ![]() like ![]() ![]() or ![]() ![]() |
space | space |
Cons
- Squishy early-game- Skills need quite a lot of mana - He's missing an inventory slot - gravitiy field takes some time to stun. - Hard to play if you can't handle ![]() |
SPAaaaaaaCE |
![]() Awesome to get out of or into trouble :P |
SPACE |
![]() Someone tries to get away with low HP? Don't let them do it! |
Other viable choices:

Runes

This is basically my prefered rune setup on Viktor. Let me explain you why:
Preferred choices:

Pretty much a no-brainer on every caster.

Viktor is pretty mana-hungry and it might happen that you can't get your blue everytime (might get stolen by enemy team or your jungler takes it by accident)

I prefer them over Flat AP for a simple reason. I usually farm at the beginning, only pocking sometimes. By Level 6 these runes will be more useful than

Just getting that little bit of early damage going so my opponent gets scared, even if it's just a little bit.
Possible choices:
Seals:

You want even more AP as time goes on? Grab them, if you can handle your mana without any problems.
Glyphs:

You want to be more aggressive early game? Take them.

Some Champs can by a real bully in your lane or nuke you very fast, e.g.

For some nice cooldown reduction.
Quints:

For some more AP later on.
There are, of course, still many more runes which you could use, however, I wouldn't really recommend them.
Important points to get:

"Only 5 AP? Are you kidding me?" Well, that's a good question. However, it's still better than getting just another +1 AP from

Trust me, you'll need the extra Mana. In addition, it's kinda hard to progress further in ultility tree without taking it :D

Sometimes you think 1sec doesn't make any difference....In League of Legends it does often enough.

Your skills cost you quite a lot of mana, especially

"Why don't you take

To be honest, i tried it. I put all points in it so you basically feel a difference but it took me such a long time regenerating my Mana in mid that i decided to not take it.

Viktor starts with a Hex Core that provides him with stats and can be upgraded in the store to augment one of his abilities. The Hex Core can only be upgraded once, and cannot be sold back to the store.
It's nice passive, however, i have to admit that it really sucks sometimes missing an inventory slot. But this is what makes Viktor so interesting ;-)

Viktor blasts an enemy unit for 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+65% of ability power) magic damage, returning 40% of the damage dealt as a shield for 3 seconds.
Quite a cool spell since it deals quite a lot of damage and provides you with a nice shield. Don't expect too much from that shield however. It absorbs only very little damage and you have to get rather close to be able to use this ability.

Viktor conjures a gravitational imprisonment device, slowing all enemies by 28 / 32 / 36 / 40 / 44% of their Movement Speed and stacks every 0.5 seconds. At 3 stacks the target will be stunned for 1.5 seconds.
This is one of the main reasons why i play Viktor. This ability can decide teamfights and help you escape. With this ability you can easily block jungle entrances and passages.
Keep in mind, however, that it takes quite some time until someone is stunned.
A fast

Viktor uses his robotic arm to fire a chaos beam that cuts across the field in a line, dealing 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+70% of ability power) magic damage to every enemy in its path.
One of the most interesting skills in the game. It's used just as

HINT: You can use the laser to spot areas on the map. Do you have that strange feeling that the jungler is in one of the bushes nearby? Laser it and check it out!

Viktor conjures a singularity at the target location, dealing 150 / 250 / 350 (+55% of ability power) magic damage and silencing enemies in the area for 0.5 seconds.
As it churns, it deals 50 / 75 / 100 (+25% of ability power) magic damage every second to nearby enemies for 7 seconds. The storm moves faster the closer it is to Viktor.
Activating this ability again while the singularity is active will redirect it.
I love this ulti. If place correctly in teamfights your enemies are already missing quite a lot of HP. After it's casted it follows the Champion you casted it on.
HINT: It follows invisible targets. Cast it on

First of all, I will never be able to tell you what you should buy every game! If you want to play Viktor you need to be able to judge a certain situation and react to it.
However, I can tell you which item's are nice to get and why.
Starting items:
![]() I start with Doran's Ring if I'm sure I don't need to dodge Skillshots in mid and their Jungler can't get me early. Sometimes I grab this to have the +100HP to survive ![]() |

SPACE |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Helps you to dodge abilites, get away from ganks and with the Heal Potions you have some sustain in lane. |

Core Items:
![]() Gives you a nice overall: Health, Ability Power AND a very nice passive. If you cast ![]() ![]() |
SPACE |
![]() Probably one of THE most important items on casters. Gives you a lot of AP |
SPACE |
![]() Provides sustain in lane and teamfights. In case you have another caster in your team it's even better to get it. |
SaaaaaaaaACE |
Boots of Choice:
SPaaaaACE |
![]() I usually grab them to get a little bit more damage going. |
SPACE |
![]() I grab them if i need some Mres desperatly. This might be the case if you are either getting destroyed by the enemy caster and a come-back might be hard OR when laning against: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
SPACE |
![]() The Cooldown reduction is pretty nice on Viktor. Another great choice. |

Other viable items:
![]() If had to lane one of the above mentioned champions you probably have to buy a ![]() |
SPACE |
![]() I'm not a big fan of this item since it delays my build and damage a lot and i can easily handle my Mana. If you think you need this item, go get it. The AP boost it nice, but since you are playing ![]() |
SPACE |
![]() Enemy are stacking HP but no Mres? Want some cooldown reduction? Overall a nice item |
SPACE |
![]() Enemies try to stack Mres? You want to laser their tank as well? Nothing can tank you anymore :P Also adds a nice amount of AP |
SPACE |
![]() You want to live a little bit long so your ![]() |

Let me show you first, what these items provide:
SPACE |
+ Total price: 2100 Gold + 80AP in total + 20% Spellvamp + Nice aura for other casters in your team - No Health Bonus - No Mana Bonus - No Health Regen upon leveling up |
SPACE |
+ 450 HP + 180 HP after 10 Minutes + 525 Mana + 200 Mana after 10 Minutes + 60 AP + 20 AP after 10 Minutes + Restores Mana and Health upon leveling up - No Spellvamp - More expensive than ![]() - Takes some Time to reach maximum potency, thus you kinda HAVE TO build it early |
SPACE |
This is just a short look on the items. So, why am I building

The item I wanted to get as fast as possible is

So I was searching for a cheap item which grants me some survivability in lane.

The amount of health I get from

I like both items and against some bursters I rather pick

Your choices are:

Before I go on I want to give you a link to a very interesting site:
Click me hard!
I was a bit shocked how much I'm actually paying for the upgrade on

Anyhow, let's check the upgrades and which one you might want to get
Cost on all of them: 1000 Gold

- +3 Ability Power per level
- +45 Ability power
- Death Ray sets fire to enemies, dealing 30% additional magic damage over 4 seconds.
This upgrade used to be my favorite choice. I had to realize that this upgrade grants nothing you need in late game. The DoT on it is only good for farming. The damage you deal is so small it's not even noticeable. Extra AP is nice but other than that it's nothing that can keep you alive in teamfights. I just prefer utility over pure damage.

- +3 Ability Power per level
- +200 Mana
- +10% Cooldown Reduction +5 Mana Regen per 5 seconds
- Gravity Field has an additional 30% cast range.
This is my new favorite upgrade. I've tested in quite a lot of games and once a teamfight is starting you will love this upgrade. Thanks to increased cast range you can "controll" the battle before you have to enter it, thus making it very hard for your opponents to catch you if you stay back at first.
The cooldown reduction is quite nice and with CDR Masteries, sorcerer's boots and blue buff you get your maximum of 40% CDR. Mana is nice but nothing special. Mana-Regen is another stat you barely notice.

- +3 Ability Power per level
- +220 Health
- +6 Health-Regen per level
- Power Transfer increases Viktor's Movement Speed by 30% for 3 seconds.
This upgrade is really nice if you like poking and chasing enemies. In combination with

Increased movement speed let's you run around your enemies which can be very important since you have to get rather close.
Overall not a bad choice.
Basically it's

He's not like a typical AP caster or whatever you expect from one.
If you think a caster desperatly needs 6 free inventory slots, you never tried Viktor before :D
This guide is still not completed and I'm pretty sure it's not flawless either.
Pls don't downvote this guide just because you don't agree with my itembuild or my Hexcore choice.
This is my first guide, feel free to comment and give me as many advices as you can. Because, only together we can start the glorious evolution!
