Introduction

Master Yi is a extreme Melee DPS champion, especially with this build. His Ultimate increases his movement speed and attack speed which allows him to chase down every single champion, though its hard to chase Nidalee, Kassadin and Singed. He is one of the best farmers in game. Mid Game he can take out minions by one hit, he can clear out camps and steal buffs so fast, the enemy team will have their jaws dropped. Master Yi can cause so much damage in such little time its almost funny. His cooldowns are reseted after every kill, imagine killing champions and activating your ultimate every single time! BERSERKER! OH and slows do not work on master Yi when his ultimate is activated, so if you're chasing or if someone is chasing you, nothing will stop you.......... except a great deal of CC. This my first guide, so if there any suggestions please message me. Have fun Wuju Styling!

Lore

Master Yi - The Wuju Bladesman

Keeper of the ancient art of Wuju, Master Yi is a mystical warrior from the isle of Ionia. He descended from one of the few tribes dedicated to the preservation of Wuju, a martial art founded with the principles of absolute spiritual awareness of one's self and one's enemy. When the armies of Noxus invaded Ionia, Master Yi joined in the Ionian defense to fight the craven enemy, bringing his village honor through his unparalleled mastery of the blade. The ensuing battles ravaged the land, but no conflict inflicted as much horror as the day the armies of Noxus closed in on Yi's village. Left undefended, the village became the unfortunate test subject of the latest invention by an up-and-coming chemist, now known as Singed. The remains of the village that Master Yi returned to were so horrific that it remains a festering scar on Ionian history. To this day, no Ionian will ever publicly speak of what occurred.

After the Noxian invasion was contained, Master Yi fell into a deep isolation. For years, he trained morning to night, speaking to no one and refusing offers of consolation by fellow Ionians. The only thing stopping him from madly charging into Noxus battle lines headfirst was his pledge to keep the Wuju style alive. Even though he seethed with impatience, his rage became a tool for sharpening his practice of Wuju, developing stronger and deadlier skills for his eventual vengeance. The only thing that roused him was news of the League's formation, and Noxus' subsequent enrollment in the League. Master Yi now brings his mastery of the blade to the League of Legends with unflinching purpose: to avenge his kinfolk and end the predations of the Noxus once and for all.

''The art of Wuju lives on in Master Yi, and is plunged through the hearts of his foes.'' -- Soraka, the Starchild

Abilities

His passive is amazing for killing minions and bringing down enemies late game with high attack speed. It's good for jungling too if you have attack speed runes and items.

This ability allows you to jump on an enemy and attack surrounding enemies, this is a great ability if you are planning to gank or jump into a teamfight. Early game I use this ability to farm, because I can farm four creeps at once but try not to spam or else your mana will deplete. Try to use Alpha Strike on minions who are closer to you so you can do damage and stay at a safe distance.

"A wise decision" - Yi. Use this ability wisely, it can turn a teamfight or a lane around. In teamfights, lets say you go crazy and someone is focusing on you, your team is about to attack, but if you escape you will die, activate Meditate, you will heal and gain high amount of Armor and Magic Resist. This helps a lot if you are attacked by Jarvan's Ult, Karthus's Ult, and snares. In laning lets say you want to farm some minions, you use alpha strike get four minions but the enemy attacks while you escape, you go behind turret and meditate yourself. It will be like nothing ever happened. Use it wisely early game because it consumes a lot mana.

Now this is one my favorite abilities, it increases the passive damage of your champion whenever you level it up, and when it is activated, it doubles the damage! If you can't lane properly, upgrade this ability fast so you can hit minions easily and get some gold at least.
When you are going for a kill, make sure you active your ultimate and this ability for maximum damage in the smallest time.

Ok now we go crazzy with a double z. You activate this and Wuju style and head for a kill, crazy attack speed and movement speed! BAM, the enemy champion is dead, oh wait another champion, activate those two abilities again! BAM! Another dead, oh who's that with low health! CHASE HIM! Activate ultimate AGAAIN! Nobody can escape the Wuju Bladesman. With two phantom dancers your movement speed increases even more. Also, in some situations it goes like, "The whole team is chasing you, run yi RUN! Activate Ultimate....... no sign of Yi, oh wait hes at base." Yi is one of those champions who can go in out of teamfights, ganks, and backdooring.

Summoner Spells

These differ from player to player. I usually pick Ghost & Flash because I like to play Yi in a fast and sneaky way. Flash is a must if you want to get out of teamfights or a tight situations, you can also use Cleanse] for Yi because he gets CC'ed a lot. Ghost, I use it for backdooring a lot, when my Highlander is up and the enemy team wants to grab hold of me I Ghost out of there while creating diversion for my team so they can push other lanes. Use Flash when its really needed, because it has a very high cooldown. Use Smite if you want to jungle. Some players like to use Exhaust but I really don't see the point because Yi can chase champions easily. Exhaust only helps me when I'm jungling and want to go for a gank. As for Ignire I would say its only useful early game (imo), sometimes early game Yi can't give that much damage and the enemy escape so you Ignite them.

Recommended Spells:
Flash - Gets you out of tight spots.
Ghost - To run away when your ult is on cooldown
Cleanse - Prevents from getting CC'ed
Ignite - Used early game for kills
Exhaust - Useful in Ganking
Smite - A must if you're jungling

Spells you may use :
Teleport - If you want to defend many lanes or backdoor with a ward

Spells to avoid:
Heal - You have lifesteal
Clarity - Get Blue Buff
Rally - You already have a high amount of Damage
Clairvoyance - Another teammate should have this
Revive - Its hard to kill Yi if you're already dead.
Fortify - Also another teammate should have it

Items

I start out with Boots, two Mana Potion and a Health Potion to farm from minions and not get hit. The two Mana Potion help me to use Alpha Strike to farm a bit more in case I'm laning against ranged champions. When I get around 1050 Gold, I buy myself a Vampiric Scepter and Berserker Greaves so I can farm even more and gain health which also helps me withstand harrasing. After enough farming I build a Phantom Dancer, now I have enough power to actually make them hurt bad. With a huge critical bonus and attack speed, with my Wuju Style and Highlander I can instantly kill an enemy champion. By buying another Phantom Dancer I become very fast both in attack and movement speed. By now I should have Wuju Style at level 5. Because attack speed is nothing without damage. Unlike other champions my abilities add more attack damage. I build a Bloodthirster to stack more damage and lifesteal. With lifesteal I can survive much longer in teamfights and kill a champion with full health while they attack me. Now I need more critical damage, this is where Yi actually goes berserk so I go buy a Infinity Edge. With this item I can give so much damage and critical damage + chance that it will be so hard for the enemy to escape from Yi and not to forget the high passive movement speed I get from my Phantom Dancer. I usually get a Black Cleaver so I can rip through enemy armor, and plus I have Armor Penetration Runes so that will give me even more of chance to rip armor. But there are some situational items which I have given a different section.

Masteries and Runes

My masteries are 21/0/9, with a ghost bonus. Yi's highlander takes a lot of mana and Wuju Style so get blue buff, and the 1/2 Buff Mastery allows me to keep my buffs 15% longer.

With Greater Mark of Desolation I get to penetrate through enemies armor, these runes are very standard for any DPS champion.
Because of lifesteal I tend to increase my attack speed with Greater Seal of Attack Speed and so my passive will get to 7 stacks fast to give double damage at the end.
Now I get even more Armor Penetration with Greater Quint of Desolation, this helps a lot in late game when the enemy starts to stack up Armor.
Yi needs cooldowns for all his abilities especially in case of Highlander and Wuju Style, I have to make sure I'm always ready. Use your abilities wisely.

How to Play

I use Yi very carefully early game because he is a bit squishy. I try to last hit minions so I can get gold faster and stay at a safe distance. Yi's true power comes when he gets his ultimate, so make sure you do not jump in a fight until you have your ultimate up and ready. Sometimes Yi gets mana hungry so try to get Blue Buff as soon as possible. If you're jungling and want to gank, better to have Exhaust. Use your Alpha Strike on an enemy champion and quickly press Highlander, Wuju Style and use Exhaust that enemy champion won't know what hit him. As for later game, try pushing lanes as fast as you can and keep moving from lane to lane. In teamfights you should be the last one to go when they focus on your tank, you quickly use Alpha Strike on the weakest champion and finish em off with Highlander and Wuju Style. When the champion is killed your abilities reset. So use Highlander and Wuju Style AGAIN to finish the other champions and keep using this cycle to finish the teamfight. You might not last that long if you don't have blue buff because your mana will finish up easily. Because of your lifesteal and very high attack speed you health will keep increasing in teamfights. The only problem is CC, stay away from champions who have CC. Let them use their CC on your tank. 1v1 is not a problem against Master Yi, sometimes even 1v2, but anyone with CC will destroy you. The first Build is very vulnerable to CC but it gives the Highest Attack damage in the shortest time. In teamfights don't focus on the tank, thats what most people usually do, focus on the most fed or most powerful champion.

Farming

Early game farming is very important with Yi, most people will try to get kills but if you they don't realize that getting minions and farming is the same as getting kills. You will get the same amount of gold if you kill 15-20 minions. The fastest way for farming is for you to get the phantom dancer. When you're laning in level 1, try last hitting minions and using alpha strike on the close minion to you. When you get your ultimate you can try to farm even more, unless the enemy champions in that lane have great CC. I advise you to stay away from ranged champions because Yi gets picked on a lot.

Situational Items

Sometimes the enemy team gets annoying and you die to often, these items should be replaced with black cleaver in the first build unless you want maximum damage.

Gives you health and some damage but best part in teamfights the enemy won't escape.

Use this if there AP Champions on the enemy team and are really crushing you. It gives magic resist and absorbs magic damage. This is a great item against AP Nukers.

If you stack this item, your health will increase A LOT. In many games, players fear champions with high health and focus on champions with low health. So this will give the illusion that are you going tanky, in fact you are not.

If you're getting killed a lot because you're new to Yi or you can't risk dying and want armor and magic resist, then this is definitely for you.

Too many tanks?! LAST WHISPER IT IS. Gives you a high amount of armor penetration even better than Black Cleaver.

If the enemy has too much health, not armor. This item will have the best effect against them. They receive magic damage on every single hit you do.

If they're too many AD champions in enemy team, get this even early game. They will die because you have lifesteal and they will keep getting hit when they attack you. So to think about it, you're damaging them while gaining lifesteal and they're receiving damage while they attack you. THATS DOUBLE DAMAGE!

An alternative to cleanse is this item, if they pack a lot of CC this is what you should get.

Jungling

Yi's jungling is based is fast but sometimes can be risky. You start out with a Cloth Armor and 5 Health Potion. I use only 4 Health Potion but for new Junglers an extra one won't hurt. I start off with using my Smite on the blue wraith.
After using Smite just run off to the wolves camp. DO NOT KILL THE RED WRAITHS

Use Alpha Strike on the blue wolf and finish them off

After that upgrade your Wuju Style and finish the red wraiths off.
Now go to the Golems and while attacking them use a Health Potion.

Use another Health Potion after finishing the golems, level up your Alpha Strike and head to the Ancient Golem ( Blue Buff )
Consume another Health Potion and Alpha Strike the Golem. Keep attacking the golem and use Wuju Style for more damage. When the golem's health bar is around 40% use smite on it and finish off his minions if you already didn't.

Now go kill the wolves and then head for the Red Buff. Use the same technique on it as you did for the Blue Buff. Use Alpha Strike and when its health its about 40% use smite. Now you have both Red and Blue Buff. Kill the two golems and head back to base. Get a Madred's Razors and finish of all minions in the jungle when you have enough money for Wrigglers Lantern go back to base and buy it. Happy Jungling!
