Hello and welcome to the MOBAFire Patch Summary - 8.14!

This patch includes the long-anticipated Samsung Galaxy skins as well as significant adjustments to Aatrox and a rework to Fizz's Seastone Trident. For runes, we have reworks to Ghost Poro and Zombie Ward, with both runes gaining a damage component. There are also nerfs to Teleport and the jungle items, targeting competitive play. Of course, there's a regular suite of balance changes to go along with all of this. Let's get into it.

Balance Changes

Item Changes

New Passive: Monster Hunter: If you have the most individual total gold on your team, lane minions kills will grant 10 less gold. Applies to Hunter's Machete, Hunter's Talisman, Stalker's Blade and Skirmisher's Sabre. This penalty is removed upon completion of a jungle Enchantment ( ).


Rune Changes

Bonus Attack Damage: 10-35 (at levels 1-18) ⇒ 6-35 (at levels 1-18)
New: After 1 second in brush, your current trinket becomes a ghost poro item, which may be used to place ghost poro
Updated: While either you or your ghost poro is anywhere in enemy territory (past the river), gain 5-20 (based on level) ability power or 3-12 bonus attack damage, adaptive.
New: Damaging a champion after destroying a ward inflicts 30-90 (at levels 1-18) bonus magic damage
Updated: Zombie Wards now only spawn from enemy wards killed, not also friendly wards which time out.


Other Changes

After nine and a half years, the in-game cursor is finally being updated! Check out the new cursor design below. You can still switch back to the old cursor via a toggle in the Options > Interface menu.


  • Wards Collection

    • Wards are joining the Collection tab soon after 8.14 goes live! You'll be able to see all ward skins you own, filter to show unowned or unavailable ward skins, and group and sort your collection view just like the Skins and Icons collections.

  • Champion Select

    • Failing to ban a champion no longer kicks you from champ select. This change went live during 8.13.

  • Bugfixes

Finally, this is the beginning of the end of this "cancer" meta with teleports on bot and funneling starts, hopefully will be more action in early game now.
Still, we want Hecarim buff lol.

Does the balance team even play their own game? The main impact of the "funneling" change is destroying junglers that don't upgrade their jungle item.

Typically Rengar or Shaco. Especially since these 2 love split pushing.

That's why I hate mobas being balanced around competitive play instead of high elo soloq.

That's why I hate mobas being balanced around competitive play instead of high elo soloq.


They stated that they know it isn't an ideal solution and will look at changing it in the pre-season.

It only impacts non upgraders in the edge case that they have the most gold on their team.

And isn't like neither one of them get no value from finishing their jungle item.

The pre-season? So that means next season? After November? So we have to put up with this jungle nerf for months?

It's an absolute nightmare to have this looming over your head for the entire game. It can pop up any time and ruin your ability to split push, which is just playing the game normally and has nothing to do with muh funneling.

Skirmisher's Sabre - Warrior vs Duskblade of Draktharr. Just compare. Duskblade is far superior stats to warrior in every way. You get literally the lethality and the 2 passives for free.

The only selling point of Warrior is the mana regen, and Rengar/Shaco don't need it. Besides they really need early duskblade for the anti-ward aspect. They skip their jungle item for a reason.

It's so desperate that they could sell machete and replace it with Vampiric Scepter, because that item is such a liablity now.
