Not in the early game.

You need the extra attack speed to do well in ganks. Buying Merc's on a ganker/damage-scaling champion that early is a newbie mistake. Building offtank does not mean you should entirely forego offense

You can ride on Shroud of Darkness for avoiding cc. Banshee's Veil is also on my build for a reason.

If necessary, I swap for Mercury's Treads after Randuin's Omen is finished.

If you need zerkers for ganks you're doing something wrong, noc already does a ton of damage when you build him around armor pen; you don't need extra attack speed. Besides you almost never get lvl 2 boots that early on noc because he already has tons of mobility with his Q and R so gap closing isn't a problem.

I get berzerker's greaves right after my Wriggle's Lantern. Not only does the AS allow me to solo dragon quite safely, it also contributes to jungle speed and DPS in fights. I don't get how you can NOT upgrade your boots that early as a jungler. Are you using AS runes and Quickness quints or something?

Also sometimes my team isn't the greatest at receiving a gank from me. In soloqueue, often I need the DPS just so I can kill some one without much help from my teammates, because they've been weakened too much or don't know how to help a gank. Even with Duskbringer, anyone with level two boots will still outrun you, especially if they have ghost or flash.
Thanks to Minho for the sig!

Stonewall008 Tip 101: Build lvl2 boots before finishing Wriggle's.

You want that speed to be able to OUTRUN your enemies so that you, as the melee-vs-potential-ranged-champions can catch and slaughter them.
Duskbringer is not an excuse to not get boots, because you are not on your dusk trail 100% of the time, and you won't always land the skill shot.

Also, I don't NEED Berserker's Greaves to gank. It's just better with them then without.
Thinking Merc's it better that early means you need to practice timing. Always have lane-allies bait a fight so they can absorb the enemy's CC if the lane is a double stun or something like that.

The extra attack speed is better then CC reduction for securing ganks when you already that shroud.

@marisi:

You have no magic resist. Nukes and tanks deal tons of magic damage and your build is just asking for Madred's Bloodrazor to rip it apart.
Atmog's needs MR, dude.

@Searz:
Some people like Lane Nocturne. Which is viable, just not bringing him to his full potential as a ganker/assassin.

Plus, if he just builds it early game and sold the Wriggle's late game to get what he listed, then there'd hardly be a difference.
So, you're not really saying much by saying Wriggle's is core.

Lane Noc is like a much weaker version of Renekton. There's just no reason to do it..

Lane noc is like an anti carry version. Renekton would be the offtanky dps version.

I could see reasons to do it.

Yea, but Noc in a lane is much weaker than Renekton..

More to the point, jungle Noct trumps the majority of other junglers in the game. There are only a handful of junglers that would be suitable to replace him, and then you might as well just pick a better lane champion (like Renekton). It's kind of like jungle Karthus if you ask me. Sure, you can jungle with him, but wouldn't he be better in lane with a better jungler to take his place?

Also, I've adjusted my Nocturne guide's core build. Youmuu's Ghostblade has replaced Black Cleaver as a core item ( The Brutalizer is built earlier of course). Sorry to everyone who suggested it before, but I had to test it myself before making any changes. Turns out, it was exactly what my build was missing: early damage before atma's.
Thanks to Fatelblade for the sig!
