Champion Build Guide
Welcome to my Morgana guide! My name is DatKawaiiBunny, and I'm a Silver IV ADC & support main. I've been playing since season 7. I've been playing Morgana off and on for the past year or so. She's absolutely one of my favorite support champions. Her root is longer compared to Lux and Neeko and her shield comes in handy against annoying crowd control champions.
I just started playing her again with Guardian runes. I think they're way better than Arcane Comet and Summon Aery because of the sustain and you can protect your ADC more.
♥ Long Root♥ Good Crowd Control♥ Spell ShieldMorgana has a high damage root that lasts for 2 - 3 seconds. Her Tormented Shadow provides some crowd control, along with her Soul Shackles. Her Black Shield also blocks all forms of crowd control and incoming AP attacks. This makes her a counter to most supports, especially ones with hooks. |
♥ High Cooldowns on Black Shield♥ Relies on her Dark Bindingfor engageMorgana has a 21-second cooldown on her Black Shield in the beginning, so you have to use it wisely, preferably on your ADC. Her only engage early is her Dark Binding, unless you have a Jhin or an Aphelios.. |
Guardian Guardian shields and hastes yourself and a nearby ally if you or your ally takes damage for 80 - 200(+ 25% AP) (+ 12% bonus health). In my opinion, it's better than Arcane Comet and Summon Aery. It gives Morgana more sustain, and the rune goes nicely with Soul Shackles and Zhonya's Hourglass. |
Font of Life When you impair an enemy's movement speed, a mark is put on them for 4 seconds. Any ally that attacks an enemy with a mark heal for 5 (+ 1% of your max health) over 2 seconds. This is another rune that goes well with Soul Shackles. Enemies are slowed by 20% when they're in the circle. |
Bone Plating Bone Plating is great for squishy supports. After taking damage from an enemy, their next 3 attacks deal less damage. Morgana gets more sustain with Bone Plating, which is great against counters like Vel'Koz and Zyra. |
Revitalize Revitalize makes Black Shield 5% stronger and if your ally is below 40% HP, your shield increases by an additional 10%. Shurelya's Battlesong and Redemption also work with this rune. |
Perfect Timing Perfect Timing gives you a free stopwatch at 10 minutes and reduces the item cooldowns by 15% on items such as Zhonya's Hourglass. I take this over Biscuit Delivery for her ultimate Soul Shackles. |
Biscuit Delivery Biscuit Delivery increases your mana cap and early 12% restoring of your missing mana and health. You get 3 biscuits in total. 1 every 2 minutes. I usually take Biscuit Delivery for the mana, but it helps against champions with poke. You can also take Magical Footwear for the free pair of Slightly Magical Boots. |
Arcane Comet Arcane Comet is one of the best runes to take on Morgana, if you want to deal a little extra damage. It hurls a comet towards the enemy when you hit them with an ability. You can also take Summon Aery for some extra shielding on Black Shield and it can't be dodged like Arcane Comet. |
Manaflow Band Manaflow Band gives you 25 mana every time you hit an enemy champion with an ability. It also gives you up to 250 mana. I take this since Morgana uses up a lot of mana early. You can also take Nimbus Cloak, which increases your movement speed by 15 - 35% after you use a summoner spell. 35% on long cooldowns, 25% on medium cooldowns, and 15% on short cooldowns. (These are the changes in the 9.23 patch notes. It used to run off of ultimate cast.) |
Transcendence Transcendence grants you 10% cooldown reduction at level 10. Also, your extra CDR will get turned into AP after you get 40 - 45% CDR. I take this on Morgana because she has high cooldowns, especially on Black Shield. You can also take Absolute Focus for the extra damage. |
Scorch After 10 minutes, you gain 8 AP. You gain about double every 10 minutes after. You can take Scorch for the extra poke damage. Scorch deals l5 - 35 extra damage when you hit an enemy with an ability. |
Perfect Timing Perfect Timing gives you a free stopwatch at 10 minutes and reduces the item cooldowns by 15% on items such as Zhonya's Hourglass. I take this over Biscuit Delivery for her ultimate Soul Shackles. |
Cosmic Insight Cosmic Insight allows you to cap the CDR by 5%. This rune provides you with +5% CDR, +5% max CDR, and +5% summoner spell CDR. You can also take Biscuit Delivery for the increase mana cap and early 12% restoring of your missing mana and health. You get 3 biscuits in total. 1 every 2 minutes. |
Presence of mind Biscuit Delivery is good for supports that use up a lot of mana early. Morgana uses a lot of mana because of her Dark Binding It restores 12% of your missing mana and health for 15 seconds. It also increases your mana cap by 50. You get 3 biscuits in total. 1 every 2 minutes. |
Coup De Grace Coup de Grace is something I don't usually go on Morgana, but this is an option to take to do more damage to low health champions with Dark Binding or Soul Shackles. |
♥ Passive: Soul Siphon
Morgana heals for 20% of the damage her abilities deal to monsters, minions, and enemy champions.
♥ Dark Binding
Cost: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70
Morgana throws out a projectile, root the enemy 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 / 2.75 / 3 seconds and damaging the first enemy unit hit 80 / 135 / 190 / 245 / 300 (+90% of ability power)
♥ Tormented Shadow
Cost: 70 / 85 / 100 / 115 / 130
Morgana infects a target area for 5 seconds. When enemies are caught in the area, it deals 6 / 12 / 18 / 24 / 30 (+7% of ability power) each half-second, increased by up to 170% based on the enemy's missing health. Over the full duration, Tormented Shadow deals a total of 60 / 120 / 180 / 240 / 300 (+70% of ability power) damage minimum, scaling up to 162 / 324 / 486 / 648 / 810 (+189% of ability power) based on the enemy's missing health. The cooldown is also reduced by 5% when Soul Siphon is active.
♥ Black Shield
Cost: 80
Morgana places a shield around herself or an ally that absorbs the next 60 / 120 / 180 / 240 / 300(+70% of ability power). The shield blocks all crowd control effects for 5 seconds, or until the shield breaks. You can also max Black Shield after Dark Binding. It depends on who their team is.
♥ Soul Shackles
Cost: 100
After a 0.5 second delay, Morgana latches chains onto nearby enemy champions, dealing 150 / 225 / 300(+70% of ability power). Enemies affected are revealed with true sight and are slowed by 20%. Any enemies that don't leave the area after 3 seconds are stunned for 1.5 seconds and are inflicted with the same magic damage.

Ignite deals damage 70 - 410 true damage on a targeted enemy champion for 5 seconds and applies grievous wounds, which reduces all healing received and regeneration rates by 40%. Ignite helps in teamfights, and with champions that heal like Dr. Mundo and Vladimir. I take this against counters and to reduce the healing of some champions. Exhaust slows down a targeted enemy champion for 30% of their movement speed, and reduces their damage by 40% for 3 seconds. Exhaust can be used as a way to help engage with Soul Shackles or Dark Binding. Flash teleports your champion wherever your cursor is. Plus, it's a key summoner spell for every champion, except Yuumi. Another way to engage with Soul Shackles or as a way to escape. |
Early Game♥ Level 1:You just want to get level two. Preferably before the enemies level up.♥ Level 2:If you hit level 2 before the enemy, you should communicate with your ADC and try to get an early kill, or Flash. You should also watch out for a gank by their jungler. On occasion, you might get level 2 ganked, especially by a Twitch. This is also when you get Black Shield, which can prevent an early kill for the enemy bot lane.♥ Level 3 - 5:Level 6 is when you gain your ultimate. Before then, you are going to poke, ward, and shield your ADC. Ward dragon, possibly with a Control Ward, and help your ADC get minions and gold.♥ Level 6:Morgana has a strong engage ultimate Soul Shackles. Your job is to look for an opportunity to engage on the enemy bot lane with your ultimate or Dark Binding. Make sure you have the bush(or bushes) next to dragon pit warded. |
Mid/Late Game♥ Roaming:Personally, I like to roam after I get to level 6, but you can roam sooner. This is where you really have to communicate with your teammates. Roaming is also a great opportunity to deep ward, ward the river, or ward objectives, like a dragon. Some good times to roam are when:

♥ Teamfight Tips:
Teamfights are very important, and they can turn the game around. Morgana is great in teamfights because of her crowd control. You want to focus on using your ultimate on as many enemies as you can, so you get the most out of it. You should also focus on using Black Shield on the frontline and your ADC. Try to hit a Dark Binding before your team engages, it can also be combined with Soul Shacklesand Tormented Shadow. If you get Twin Shadows, that'll also help your team engage.
Early GameIn the early game, you should prioritize warding as much as possible. You probably won't have your upgraded support item by then, but that's okay. If you're ahead, you should try to ward either the enemy's blue buff or red buff to get some vision on the jungler, just in case they gank. If you can't do that, ward the tribush with a Stealth Ward or a Control Ward. If you're behind, then ward the river, one of the bushes in the bot lane, and dragon. If you're behind because of the enemy jungler, then make sure to ward the tribush, if they're coming from that direction. If not, focus on the river. |
Mid/Late GameBy this time, you should be out of the bot lane. Your upgraded support item gives you an opportunity to deep ward. You want to focus on warding the enemy's jungle. Specifically, near objectives and blast cones. You should always keep dragon warded, preferably with a Control Ward. Buy an Oracle's Lens as soon as your item is upgraded and try to deny them vision by looking for wards they've placed in your jungle, as well as theirs. |
- Blue Dots are of course the Blue Team.
- Red Dots are of course the Red Team.
- Pink Dots are Control Wards.
- Small Green Dots are Blast Cones
