[11.12] Lux Mid - LOW Elo, HIGH Damage, HIGH Positivity!

By Sailor MOwOn
Intro & About

👋 Hi, I'm just someone who loves League and is trying to get better. I'm a Low Elo player currently and I'm assuming if you're using this guide, you probably are too. I mean, we are the ones that use Mobafire probably the most, yeah? #LowEloSquad

🥺 Disclaimer upon disclaimer - again - I am in Bronze, I just really adore League and try to get better every day while trying new things. Obviously you'll probably want a Challenger/Master guide before this one... but I just wanted to share because it has been so successful. This is my first guide EVER even though I use Mobafire pretty much daily. This current build is probably the most success I've had in ranked so far, so I wanted to share.

📌 This is a LOW ELO guide made by and for Low Elo, which I think can be more useful than High Elo guides because - let's face it - we are not even playing the same game as they are. Things are quite different in Iron/Bronze and many rules don't apply here. I recommend still watching, reading and learning from High Elo players, obviously, but... ya know. Something's gotta give, right?

🏆 Bronze is the THIRD most populated rank in NA servers, with Silver being first and Gold being second. I don't think people realize just how many of the player-base is Low Elo. There is no shame to be in the most populated ranks at all. League is a very, very hard game, and I think even being in Silver is an achievement in of itself.

Remember! Be positive with yourself and others. Losses are learning experiences. If a teammate trolls you for being in Bronze - well, uh, that's awkward, because they're in the same lobby as you. You can always improve and get better! 🌟

✨ I main Lillia, Lux, Morgana and Seraphine (honorable mentions to Ahri, Miss Fortune and Akali,) and Lillia is my best but she really requires good team coordination which is hard to find in Low Elo. (Sleep 4 people, nothing happens... GG.) So I'm sticking to the simple but effective champs for climbing. (More on this later.)

✔️ From my general experience, in Iron/Bronze, you want to stick to simple but OP when built correctly - or even when NOT built correctly. Lux is quintessential here and provides not only insane damage with this build, but fantastic utility and crowd control. (She slows AND roots. How annoying for the enemy, and how great for your teammates!)
Items & "Why?"

LUDEN’S TEMPEST
LUDEN’S TEMPEST
Luden's Tempest is Lux's best friend and gives her everything she needs and then some. Ability Haste, AP, Mana and AoE/wave clear - even Movement Speed. Oh, and don't forget the sweet, sweet Magic Pen that also stacks on all subsequent legendary items. It would be a waste, quite frankly, to build any other Mythic on her. However, it should be noted that Liandry's Torment is an acceptable alternative when the situation calls for it. I've built it once when the enemy team had 3 tanks. I'd say don't build it unless the enemy team has 2 or more tanks that are heavy hitters and need to be burned down (literally.)

MEJAI’S SOULSTEALER
MEJAI’S SOULSTEALER
Mejai's Soulstealer is a key here because with Lux's range, you really won't be dying a whole lot. (And, if you are, no judgement here. I have a Mejai's-less item build above you can use.) Frequently, even when you're being chased, you can Q Light Binding and Barrier and get away just fine. Flash if you need it, too - but you really shouldn't be getting caught out. That comes with practice.
In a long, LONG game you may die 4-5 times, but mostly you will be dying 0-1 times. It is easy to get and maintain 25 Mejai's stacks. For the AP you get, it is CHEAP and that's why I consider it core. Because even if someone outshines you and you're getting assists, you're still getting stacks towards Mejai's. (Also mentioned below: If you stack Mejai's Soulstealer well, you can have just under 400 AP before 30 minutes if you have at least 20 Mejai's stacks, Luden's Tempest and are building your next AP item (such as Horizon Focus.)

SORCERER’S SHOES
SORCERER’S SHOES
Not a lot to say about Sorcerer's Shoes - they will be your pick 99.9% of the time. With your items and runes, Ability Haste is not a problem so you really don't need Ionian Boots of Lucidity. Mercury's Treads are an option if AP and CC are a BIG problem on the enemy team, but I have never not built Sorcerer's.

Why Seraph's? I love running Seraph's Embrace on Lux, but some may find it a waste of item slot which is totally valid. Paired with Manaflow Band you're going to get a nice AP bump from this, but if you find it more cost effective/aligned with your play-style to ignore this item and Tear of the Goddess, please feel free to do so. Seraph's is definitely the "weird" part of my build and I totally acknowledge that and understand why - I highly recommend trying it at least once, though. I tried it on a whim during the 2nd game with this build and have built it ever since. The appeal to me is extra mana and not having to back as much - even late game you can struggle with your mana and have to back just because of it. The goal is to not die, so the longer you can just be out in the field (except for having to back for purchases, resets, etc) the better.

I have tried games where I purposefully will NOT build Tear or Seraph's at all, just to see how it is, and for me personally, I just like to have the extra mana. But that's my personal style, and doesn't work for everyone. I should note that NOT building Seraph's did not make me lose, not even close, so it is NOT a make or break item - but I do feel it is unique and has its advantages.

If you don't want to run it, I recommend Horizon Focus, Void Staff or Cosmic Drive.
Stats, Runes & Numbers

I did the same exact build on Seraphine when Lux was banned. Just as fun, I don't think it packs as much of a punch and it takes awhile (mid/late game) to get a real use out of it. But it's definitely worth it, in the end.

🔥 Arcane Comet and Summon Aery are still very good for Lux, of course, but this is - in my experience - the most power packed option that has the potential to carry a team. Dark Harvest paired with Cheap Shot is just so, so juicy, and late game even your Q Light Binding will pop enemies.

Remember! Cheap Shot is not only proc'd by Light Binding, but by Lucent Singularity as well!

🛡️ For high HP/tanky teams, you can go with Presence of Mind and Cut Down as your secondary tree. I am still testing it, but so far in most games using Cut Down, it will match or do MORE damage than Dark Harvest. It will easily snag you ~2k extra damage per game depending on game length. It is absolutely a great pick against tank heavy teams - and I'm starting to think Presence of Mind feels better mana-wise than Manaflow Band but I need to play with it more to really see.

Your damage will range anywhere between 24k - 55k in any given game - usually, you will deal the most damage on both teams, or come in second. My highest game was just over 55k. (This depends on the length of the game as well, but you get the idea.)

⚔️ If you stack Mejai's Soulstealer well, you can have just under 400 AP before 30 minutes if you have at least 20 Mejai's stacks, Luden's Tempest and are building your next AP item (such as Horizon Focus.)

💉 You can also use this build for a much more aggressive Support, I build it pretty much exactly the same. ( Eyeball Collection can be swapped for Ghost Poro)

In a longer game, with Arcane Comet, you will pull Rune Damage of around 2900. With Dark Harvest and Cheap Shot, you will pull a combined 3100 or more depending on length of the game, since Dark Harvest scales.
Conclusion
Conclusion

👍 Lux is easy to play, and for some reason not really banned, so she's a great pick for climbing - especially in Iron and Bronze. A lot of people will troll or flame you for playing such an "easy" "e-girl" champ, but part of what makes Lux so strong IS her ease to play. Because this is a guide geared towards Low Elo, we are not really looking to master Lee Sin, Katarina, Viego, etc. Easy, powerful, effective - straight and to the point. In Low Elo, it's good to learn how the game works, too - and easier champs allow you to do that. You can focus on learning important things without worrying about intricacies and mechanics. And, to be frank, if you like Lux and other "easy" champs - play them! Play with who you jive with. Do not give into what others have to say. Try to be as cheery and positive as Lux herself.

🙇‍♀️ Again, I am a mega amateur, but have had so much success with this and just wanted to share. I am sure my guide and build is not perfect by any means, but I think by sharing this and opening discussion, it can help everyone (especially me!) learn and grow - which I think is why we are all here. I hope this helps someone out! Thanks for reading.
