should be a skill matchup, although most people you meet will think Darius is easy to play, and will thus most likely be using him for the first time, even in ranked.
Cho'Gath
Be wary of this guy post-6. while not too much of an issue, his ult does more damage than yours without stacks. Your ult does outdamage him at 5 stacks though, you can beat him early though, just get a early null-magic mantle or even a spectre's cowl to reduce his poke and be able to zone him
Dr. Mundo
He is really strong right now because of his recent buff. BE CAREFUL AGAINST THIS GUY. He does tons of damage without any damage items, and his ultimate can let him survive a dunk. His Q chunks you, his w lets him run away from you(or chase you), his e gives him AD BASED ON HIS MISSING HEALTH. TL;DR The more you hurt him, the stronger he gets
Fiora
I hate this woman. I don't know why people think Darius counters her. I've had fioras who riposted my dunk before, ulted, and killed me. She is very mobile. Don't let her hit your vitals and you will be fine
Gangplank
yarrrr, you better not be standing in my minion wave, me hearty!!! This guy has better zoning than you with his barrels, but you can force him to waste parrrleys on you by walking up to him and fighting him. If he can't be bankplank he's not such a huge threat. DO NOT LEAVE THE LANE AND LET HIM FREEFARM. HE WILL FARM AND GET MORE ITEMS AND 2 SHOT YOUR ADC. Make it hard for him to farm, and slow down his ability to murder your ADC
Garen
EZ LANE EZ LIFE! Garen versus Darius is not one sided, but it will become like that after the first 2 kills. Darius can win this easily because of his passive and zone, as well as poke.
Gnar
Irritating, but manageable. wait for ganks under tower, don't let him get the third hit off, wait for ganks. he's is a easy kill after black cleaver.
Hecarim
...so easy after level 4...
Illaoi
THIS *****! IS! SO! *******! ANNOYING! While she isn't as broken as Reddit might suggest, Riot really has to do something about the E ability and some way to handle it. That being said she is very strong, but you can kill her after level 11, or level 6 with a gank. DO NOT FIGHT HER WHERE THERE ARE TENTACLES, OR HENTAI WILL HAPPEN! Also you can ahead easily by TP ganking botlane.
Irelia
she is bad for you, but you outscale and are more useful than her lategame
Jax
**** this guy. sit under turret, don't feed him. you can win pre-6 but once he gets 6, sit under your turret and cry. If he misses his E, go all in. kill him before he gets it back up, its a big deal of his power.
Kennen
He's a stunbomb. Get mercurial scimitar and spectre's cowl and you win.
Lee Sin
InSec himself. He surprisingly outdamages you early, but your ult is better than his. you will win post 6, or even pre-6 if he's dumb enough to go in on you in your minion wave.
Malphite
Boredom. He can't kill you, and you won't be able to kill him once he gets some items. Deny CS, try to get kills early, and you will want black cleaver to be able to kill him later
Maokai
lol. kill him pre-6 and slaughter him.
Nasus
HAHAHAHAHAAHA!!! FREELO BOYZ!!!
Olaf
be careful of this guy. you win past level 11, but before that he can and will go in on you, and most likely kill you
Pantheon
dangerous brfore level 8. start cloth armor, get a early chain vest, and get ruby crystal and boots to survive early. after that build normally and kill him at level 11. watch for his midlane roams though, that ult is useful.
Renekton
I've never lost to Renekton before. I don't know why people say he counters Darius...
Rengar
poor laner, great ganker. If he backs post-6 spam danger pings at bot and yell in chat that Rengar may be coming. Be ready to tp at a moment's notice.
Riven
Really weak in the meta right now, but the good riven players are still playing her and will kill you. A good riven player and negate your Q damage and kill you, although you will win against those that aren't super skilled
Rumble
Kill him before he has liandry's. snowball hard. win. Don't stand in his ult in teamfights
Ryze
poke really hurts, but can be dealt with. get early spectre's and pull him post-6 when he rune prison's you.
Shen
He can't kill you. Just don't get taunted under tower. Shove into his tower and invade. rinse and repeat until he hits 6. Then stop invading and prepare to TP bot or mid to save the person there.
Singed
Don't chase him or take free poison damage and you win.
Sion
lmao. He can't do anything to you. pull him out of his Q and abuse him.
Tahm Kench
His damage is insane post 6 even with no damage items. It gets worse if he builds titanic hydra.
Teemo
The early game will be hell. Just don't die and you can kill him after level 8. Rush spectres and his damage will fall off spectacularly.
Trundle
treat him like jax. He has sustain which arguably makes him worse.
Tryndamere
Don't fight him level 1 and survive until 6. you should win if you don't dive, and if he ults just get 5 stacks and run. the bleed will kill him if he doesn't build any AP. However you CANNOT play like a wimp. Try fighting at level 3 or 4, where you are stronger than him, and try to force the heal before going balls deep.
Vayne
THIS ADC IS WHAT WILL KILL YOU 100% OF THE TIME! FOCUS HER FIRST. She's squishy, and you can kill her in 1 combo. you have to land your hook though. If you don't you die.
Vladimir
He will poke you and sustain. don't bother trying to all-in unless you are sure of a kill. Focus on TP plays bot to win.
Volibear
DO NOT FIGHT HIM UNTIL YOU ARE LEVEL 6! His passive regenerate 30% of his max health, making him hard to kill at low levels. wait until 6 when you can execute him.
Wukong
easy lane. you outdamage him all the time. End his miserable life in lane. kill him in teamfights so the midlane yasuo cannot ult your team.
Xin Zhao
treat him like jax. with a knockup.
Yasuo
ez lane. kill, get fed. get bloodthirster. Or go ruin his jungler's day
Zac
easy. beware of ganks though. particularly if there is a midlane yasuo
Hi, My name is Ironboy99, and I main Darius on the SG/MY servers. Sadly, this means that OP.GG or other sites cannot be used to see my elo, but my winrate on Darius is constantly around 65%. I have 174K mastery points on him so yeah...I might not be challenger(I'm only silver), but I know what I'm talking about.
Hello and welcome to my guide on Darius, the Hand of Noxus. Better known as the Dunkmaster. The point of this build is to be a brick wall of death, forcing the enemies to focus you while your team murders them, or focus your team and get pentadunked. That's why so much armor is in the build. Do watch out for Batman, she still murders you.
Pros / Cons
Pros / Cons
alright. If someone could send me a PM on how to put the pros and cons side by side would be great. also adding champion portraits next to names too, as well as abilities and items would be awesome. adding some colour to the background is also sorely needed
PROS
extremely tanky if built right
brick wall of death
extremely manly
ridiculous damage
early aggression can zone enemy laner out completely
strong laner
DUNKING!!!!
CONS
Very binary( does well or does ****)
melee
weak to S6 ADCs(very very powerful right now)
needs to stack or kill someone to get max damage on ult.
not as easy as people think
easy to lose yourself and think you're invincible
Farming
Farming
This is where Darius, if played right, can be oppressive as hell. Stand in the wave and don't take minion aggro. Last hit as normal. If they come up for CS, E-AA-W-AA-Q to quickly get 4 stacks of bleed on them and chunk them hard. From there you can either go all-in if they're low enough, or just walk into a bush to clear aggro and reset. You will have to ward carefully so the enemy jungler doesn't successfully gank you, although post-6, a gank can easily be a doublekill for you if they mess up. Shove the wave hard into the tower often to make them lose CS, then go back. NEVER GO BACK WITHOUT PUSHING THE WAVE INTO THE ENEMY TOWER! If you do this right, at the end of the laning phase(after the second tower falls in bronze and silver games, or after the first in higher elo), the opposing laner should be at least 30 CS behind you.
First Few Backs
First Few Backs
Ask yourself a few questions and look at your score, as well as the champion the enemy laner is playing. What do they benefit from, and what is the most common meta build for them? Will they stack resistances or damage? Are you behind in CS or kills? If the enemy laner has got a kill, you should at least be slightly ahead in CS because of your aggressive early pressure. Prioritize the Ruby Crystal and Boots ahead of Long Sword if this is the case. consider acquiring a early Cloth Armor if your enemy laner is going to build full AD. If you are ahead(in both CS and kills) go nuts. Get both components of the Phage, or even finish it if you have the gold. Or if they do not benefit from armor, and do not build much of it, consider going Tiamat for the better shoving potential and eventual titanic hydra
Build path and specific playstyles
Build path and specific playstyles
While I have 2 Build Paths set up further up for standard games, sometimes you must accommodate for your team's situation and react accordingly. This next phrase will get you out of bronze and low silver. Ready?
IF YOU ARE BEHIND, BUILD TANK! It's as simple as that. Too many times I have seen Darius players that are 0/5 focusing of finishing their Black Cleaver. If you are 2 kills behind, leave your damage items and start building tank as a priority. That way even if you are behind you'll still be useful as a brick wall, and you may even get some kills to allow you to finish your items. This is what I call 'playing from behind'
Next is the 'juggernaut playstyle' and is what I prefer. This requires a Black Cleaver and a Dead Man's Plate to be effective, and involves diving into the enemy backline, 1 vs 3, turning the area behind you into a zone where the enemy tank and midlaner is stuck without the support, ADC, or jungler to help, making it a 4v2. While you do need a ton of armor and a '**** it, if I die my teammates will clean up' mentality, it works great if you position yourself right and chunk them out hard enough, possibly allowing you to survive.
The third playstyle is the assassin Darius playstyle, which can be done with a Bloodthirster and Dead Man's Plate. Hide in a bush after pushing a lane, and when someone squishy goes to clear it, drag them over the wall and insta-gib them, before running. It works surprisingly well in a 'pick' team composition.
On the further topic of alternative items, banshee's veil is a very good alternative to spirit visage if the enemy has not enough cc to justify a mercurials but enough to kill you. Also, against some AP laners, getting a Hexdrinker, while not as good as it was on old Darius, can help. However, you should only get this if the enemy team has at least 2 heavy AP champions(e.g Vlad top and Brand sp. Trust me, Brand sp does a lot of damage in teamights, you'll need the shield to do the Darius things.) The eventual Maw of Malmortius will replace your damage item though, so choose wisely if you decide on building this.
