You'll see 5 builds of Sion:

- Troll Sion, maybe it works??
Team 2 (build variations from basic build):

- Offtanky Sion

This is not a guide how to play Sion, this is an idea how to build Sion.
This build isn't properly tested yet, but I hope to do so in a short time.
This build describes how to build Sion (to my idea) in the top lane.
This build is still in the making / testing this build, so changes are made frequently!
To start of: in this build I start of with

If this doesn't work: I'll buy boots (

And i'm checking if it is good to build

Prior to the creation of the League of Legends, the city-states of Demacia and Noxus were locked in a brutal series of on-again-off-again wars that spanned the course of centuries. Both powers sought an advantage over the other, but Noxus was the city-state willing to forego conventional morality to achieve its goals. Only brute strength and the will to use it mattered to Noxus, and this is best exemplified in the murderous warrior, Sion. Used by the Noxians as a human battering ram, Sion would be sent thundering ahead of Noxian troops. He would mercilessly slaughter foes with his large double-bladed axe, ''Chopper''. His complete disregard for caution ultimately cost him his life, as he was captured and summarily executed by Demacian forces.
The Demacians thought that the beheading of Sion would be the end of his bloodthirsty ways. Death, however, was merely the beginning of Sion's rise to power. The famed Noxian assassin, Katarina, recovered Sion's remains and Noxian necromancers reanimated the behemoth to serve Noxus once again. Sion's reanimation actually bestowed new powers on him and increased the potency of his existing abilities, making him even more of a terror to behold on the battlefield. The Noxian High Command had a powerful new weapon in their hands - one they have brought to bear as a champion in the League of Legends. Even though Sion's increased powers would make him a powerful tool for the High Command's use outside the Fields of Justice, Noxus no longer risks losing one of their greatest champions in the League to chance or circumstance; Sion's days as a front-line fighter for Noxus' military conquests are at an end.

Pro's:
Con's:
Enrage is usefull in teamfights (AP it doesn't do much).
Enrage can be used with atma's impaler to reach endless damage.
- His ultimate (
Cannibalism is now very powerfull, and usefull.
- Good sustain (,
Feel No Pain
Cannibalism).
- Has a lot of default armor.
Con's:
- Not much of a nuke.
- Almost no CC, so can't chase very well.
- Not much escape possibilities (
Cryptic Gaze).
- Sion's abilities are half ability power (
Cryptic Gaze &
Death's Caress) and half attack damage (
Enrage &
Cannibalism)
- Has minimal default magic resistance.
Pro's:
Con's:
- Huge Damage output.
- Can Hurt tanky champions badly, because of
Last Whisper.
- Tanky (Mres, armor, HP).
- Huge Sustain, because of tankyness, damage and lifesteal.
- Can chase very well now, because of Frozen Mallet
- Is almost unkillable when
Cannibalism is activated (stats: Total lifesteal of 143.75% + 50% attack speed)
Con's:
- Not much movement speed.
- Not any thought for mana.
Cryptic Gaze &
Death's Caress, but for usefullness.
- Still not much escape possibilities.

Because it's AD Sion, we must make use of this;
Skill mastering =

Your ultimate:

But it's very important to use this in a teamfight, because it heals you for 100% and 50% for allies around you...
So please don't waste your ultimate on dragon (maybe on baron) because it would mean a win or loss for the next teamfight if it is on cooldown.
So we begin with:

Be carefull though, only activate it when last hitting a minion or when attacking a champion.
Next we go for:

The mana doesn't scale as well, so that is good :D
If you want to use it as damage, be sure to activate it before the shield is depleted.
And last but not least:

The reason that I max it last is that the stun duration always is the same, and you don't have much mana to spam it.
So in short:

"Why won't you max
Cryptic Gaze before
Death's Caress??"
Because you are kinda tanky and you want to take hits for your team.
If you max
first, you'll be able to sustain yourself much better when an enemy tries to gank you, that's why I put 1 point in
. Because if an enemy jungler wants to gank you, you just pop up your
and stun him with
. You won't lose a lot of health, but try to get away with only the stun, because your mana pool is very low, you can't afford to spam your
or
.
If you are feeling like you can kill your nemesis (top lane enemey champion) early game, you can take
first instead of
to stop him / her from escaping.

Because you are kinda tanky and you want to take hits for your team.
If you max

If you are feeling like you can kill your nemesis (top lane enemey champion) early game, you can take

Your Main Spells:
-
, because you can get away with everything or just jump in!
-
, because of the slow and the damage modifier, it just decreases so much damage!
other possible entries:
-
if you like to go all over the place or gank enemies fast, or just sustain your own lane very easy.
-
for those pesty healers (wich you are yourself).
-
for an heavy cc team.
-
like an boost? get ghost!
No entry:
-
you're not an support, go find another build
-
you're not AP Sion, you don't need this!
-
why do you have this? are you losing top lane??
-
this is not dominion..
-
don't you have enough sustain? maybe for early game, but meta- / late-game: NO!
-
you have enough damage, but it's hopeless outside a lane.
-
did you just die?? this build is not made for losing..
-
you need to dominate your lane, so you need to dominate your top lane enemy champion, not your top lane enemy minions..
-
not suited for sion, you attacks do 0,0 AP.

My runes Specializes in Defense and utility.

Because my masteries are already into damage, and you want to hit your frozen mallet (and attacks of course) as much as possible:

Because Sion has minimal Magic Resistance:

Because this build lacks movement speed:

My masteries are: 24 - 4 - 2
Getting full offense, a bit of defense en the required utility.
Full offense so you can kill your top lane opponent, because if you don't have enough damage output: you're a sitting duck.

Brute Force

Deadliness

Executioner
The defense specializes in Magic resistance, because Sion has a lot Armor of his own.
- 3x
Resistance
- 1x
Hardiness
And my utility goes for Flash and improved recall.
But why improved recall?
Because you can recall faster, captain obvious.
If you have a feeling you're getting ganked or overextending, you can recall: FASTER.

Defense:

Utility:
- Flash: Cooldown - 15 second
- Recall: Cast time - 1 second
This Build Makes use of the following items:
Phantom Dancer
Because of the movement, attack speed and critical strike chance: you can chase you opponent much more easier; more movementspeed and more attack speed for your
Frozen Mallet.
Bloodthirster
Because of the damage and lifesteal, sustain is much more easier.
Frozen Mallet
Because of the health, damage and the slow, makes it impossible to get away from you, and if they tru you got your
Exhaust and your
Cryptic Gaze.
Atma's Impaler
Because of the armor, critical chance and the damage / 2% HP, it synchronises with your
Enrage.
Spirit Visage
For the healing, magic resist and the cooldown, it synchronises so well with
Cannibalism.
Last Whisper
40% armor penetration, nuff said.

These are Sion's base stats (at lvl 18):

- Critical Damage 200%
- Ability Power 0
- Armor Penetration 0 + 0%
- Magic Penetration 0 + 0%

- Movement 320
These are Sion's stats with my build (at lvl 18):
Defense:

Enrage stacks)
- Health Per 5 sec 25
- Mana 960
- Mana Per 5 Sec 13.5

This means that you'll have an attack damage (full build, target <40% health) of 411.
And because of
Last Whisper and
Weapon Expertise
you have 50% armor penetration, so tank's aren't safe from you!
Your Defense (123.25 Armor & 128.7 Magic Resist) makes you hard to kill, and exhaust will make their damage dissapear almost completely.
The fun part is: When you are low health (30% or so) you can activate you cannibalsim wich does:
So you'll hit max attack speed and you'll heal (Godlike more) then before.
And because of the slow hammer, they can't escape...
if we go look at the fun part: crits
If you crit, you'll do 200% damage, but because
Lethality
is chosen, you'll do 210% damage.
Wich means you'll do 411 * 2,1 = 863.1 damage.
And because your critical chance is 52%, you'll be critting half of the attacks...
this even is <40% health, >40% health you'll do 863.1 * 1,06 = 914.886 damage!!
Stack all the armor you want, because this Sion has 50% armor penetration!!
All in all:
Get close to Sion, and you'll feel the pain!

You want an easy build for Sion top lane?
Doran's Blade is great on Sion: it gives health, attack damage and lifesteal.
Combine a couple
with an
and you'll be tanky and deal great damage too!
Because you're already tanky because of your
,
and your
, and you're now building health, your damage will go up too, so this CAN be a viable build, I'll test it in the future;
But yeah this is kinda a troll build :P, but maybe it works?
But now serious: this is your top lane build:
From there you can choose 3 paths:
The AD path:
Focusing the
Bloodthirster first, then building
Last Whisper.
It is now optional to build another
Phantom Dancer or to build
Atma's Impaler or
Spirit Visage, depending on the situation.
The Offtank:
Build either
Atma's Impaler or
Spirit Visage (atma's gives the most damage).
Then build
Bloodthirster and then
Last Whisper
The tank:
build both
Atma's Impaler and
Spirit Visage.
Then go for
Bloodthirster and last
Last Whisper

Combine a couple

I found out that you must buy
Boots /
Berserker's Greaves after vamparic scepter (some near beginning), if you don't : Sion is too slow.
And in meta / end game you're very strong.
Also 9x
Greater Mark of Attack Speed +
Phantom Dancer +
Cannibalism does not make 2.0 Attack speed, maybe it is 50% base value??
And I picked
If you don't build
Spirit Visage then you won't really notice...
So that one is optional..
The only thing I'm struggeling with is the start of the game... wich sion isn't very good.. ( that was against lee sin and nidalee, wich are mobile champs )
So the current build is:
.
Then you can choose to go for
or
or
( wich I favor to build, because you're already kinda tanky. )
End game you can sell your
Berserker's Greaves for
Phantom Dancer
get
Berserker's Greaves after
Vampiric Scepter and with
Zeal you'll run as fast as hell XD
The basic build is massive, the only thing is that you're weak vs ganks.
Farm is meta / late game not a problem, but early game last hitting will help you a lot!!
This basic build is approved, but please get near your team if they want to destroy a turret or when a teamfight is coming, it'll help a lot! ;)
