wukong

hi, my name is Tang and wukong is my favourite champ in s9-10 and i like to share some tips about WuKong . first of all, there is a good and bad news. The great news is that he is reworked and he is given more sustain and outplay potential. The bad news is, assasin-kong will not be as great as last time, signalling the change of play style.

early, mid and late

wukong has a healthy clear against single jungle monsters, and may be quite bad with multiple jungle monsters for example, raptors .
In early game, start by red or blue depending on your botlane, the following path ways are:
invade route: red buff-->krugs-->enemy blue side/gank-->back to ur blue side and do full clear. (try not to do raptors when u r low in health as it may waste ur smite or potion as it can get u executed, as your w doesnt do area damage anymore.)
safe route: blue buff-->grump-->wolves-->river scuttler-->ally red buff/gank-->krugs-->gank/back.

definitely not recommended (unless your team is good). For wukong jungle, only gank when you think you are able to survive that gank and bring advantage to u and ur laner. If not, just farm, secure objectives and carry the team later on.
During mid game, with 1 or 2 items, you are simply strong enough to 1v1 everyone that are not tanks in the game. (unless the enemies are very ahead or you are too behind)Remember to get objectives and try to get picks on the enemy squishies. For example, the enemy mid laners, ad carry or support in order to continue your dominance. During this period, remember to secure drakes, as the drake soul is super OP.
FIRST DRAKE: At 5:00
SECOND DRAKE: If it is slain, an elemental drake of another type spawns after 5 minutes
RIFT DRAKE: 5 minutes after the last drake has been killed, an elemental drake of the Rift's element spawns. This repeats until a team has killed their fourth drake and acquired its respective Dragon Soul.

During late game, this is when you have some serious items and does serious damage. Join team fights frequently, starting the fight by one-shotting the squishies with your combo W>E>Q>R and make a five man knock up with your ultimate if you can. If your team is winning team fights, try to take baron or bait the enemy team to fight baron.

primary runes

Precision
Conqueror- gives u damage and sustain and can be easily stacked in extended fights.
Triumph- this shiit can be ur life savior and it helps u survie teamfight and tower dives.

legend:alacrity- gives attack-speed, which is really good for the new wukong, where he is good in extended fights.

-the last one can be optional, and it's based your own opinion, more damage?, more damage to enemies who have more health than u? or more damage to enemies when u r low in health.

Precision- improves attacks and sustained damage

Conqueror- grants true damage and life steal after stacking up 5 times

Legend: Alacrity- grants attack speeds and works well with conqueror, which help you to smack tanks with true damage.

Coup de Grace- helps you to finish off low health enemy champions easier

starting items (for jungle/top lane)

Hunter's Machete- wukong now has high base damage and his basic attacks works well with the life steal given.
Refillable Potion- provides sustain and it resets every time you base.

Stealth Ward- provides vision

Oracle Lens- help you to spot wards put by the enemy when you gank. This saves you a lot of time rather then waiting in the bush not knowing that the enemy knew you are there.

core items (top lane and jungle)

https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/lolesports_gamepedia_en/f/f7/Trinity_Force.png?version=7315fc2df63651f85c197ff54d2acfe5 -massive item and provides lots of useful stats for wukong. Can be taken as first item if you are not too behind.

https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/lolesports_gamepedia_en/5/57/Blade_of_the_Ruined_King.png?version=9fd988cc49a80da16b2be6dcc9920e63 - amazing item gives and attack speed which scales well with your basic attack speed boosts from E Nimbus Strike and the active can be used to slow enemies in order to extend your combating time, where you are excellent in extended fights.

https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/lolesports_gamepedia_en/a/a5/Sterak%27s_Gage.png?version=794a3759fbb70cb7e3cd315d74976f3e - the unique passive (If you take 400 - 1800 (based on level) damage within 5 seconds, you gain a shield for up to 3.75 seconds equal to 75% bonus health, which start decaying after 0.75 second (60 seconds cooldown).)is so good that it gives you huge amount of sustain and survivability in fights, this is one item that usually turn fights over.

https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/lolesports_gamepedia_en/thumb/1/11/Death%27s_Dance.png/96px-Death%27s_Dance.png?version=b1689d49674daa7f2990658ceb730d4e - one OP item where it's unique passive,(Dealing damage heals for 15% of the damage dealt. This is 33% as effective for Area of Effect damage.)scales so well with your R Cyclone, giving heaps of sustain to survive team fights.
-provides bunch of damage which is really useful and can be taken if u are ahead and wants to do more damage.

https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/lolesports_gamepedia_en/5/5c/Randuin%27s_Omen.png?version=88eaefd0e0c2ab872514816a3b8ae286 - this item can be taken when the enemy has lots of huge crit dueler, eg, Yasuo, Jhin, Caitlyn etc.
-same as Duskblade of Draktharr,
it provides slightly less lethality
and damage, but it provides
movement speed when activated.

-is optional for Wukong. But
overall, it is a really good item to
have as it provides health, damage,
cooldown reduction and most importantly,
it's passive helps to shred armor.

-similar to the black
cleaver
, it helps to shred armor
really effectively and provides decent
amount of damage. If the enemy team have
health based champs like Dr. Mundo and
Cho'Gath, Mortal Reminder is
recommended due to it's passive.

boots option

- provides armor and is mostly taken by AD
champions.

- provides magic resist, and is
recommended when there are high cc
champions or magic damage champions.

- give you insane out of combat movement
speed. Helps to roam more and walk
faster back to lane when you don't
have teleport. Usually, it is sold
during late game for other boots
option.

abilities usage

wukong has a great advantage with his W Warrior Trickster, he can sneak on enemies during ganks, make enemies waste thier abilities on your decoy while also been able to pull off cool combos.
-full combo with r when close to the enemy (can be modified urself): Aa x2 -->W decoy}}--> double Q [[nimbus strike with clone--> double R Cyclone-->activate second time.
-full combo with tiamat without r when close to enemy: Aa--> Aa-->W-->Q-->Tiamat-->Aa-->kill/run
-full combo with flash and R: Flash-->E Nimbus Strike right away-->W Warrior Trickster-->Q Crushing Blow--> Cyclone you need enough survivability to pull off this combo, if not, r Cyclone straight away after E and Q.
-when u have a duskblade, it doesn't only give u damage. When trying to jump someone, W {decoy} first, then activate Ghost Blade to get close for a auto attack, which activates Duskblade passive that does lots of damage, then only E Nimbus Strike --> Q Crushing Blow, usually R Cyclone is not needed as electrocute will finish the work.
-fake decoys: act as decoy (standing and do nothing) when getting chase down, after enemy went past u, go the opposite way. (doesn't work in lower elo as they literally just try to butcher everything in their way.
-when laning, you can do short-trades with the enemy with the following: E Nimbus Strike-->Q-->Aa a few times to activate Conquerer-->W Warrior Trickster away to avoid cc from the enemy--> wait for E cooldown than E back in-->slap him with conquerer.

wukong top and mid

top Wukongis pretty popular this days as he deal some decent damage throughout the early, mid and especially late game. he is a champ that you can blindpick during ranks.

For short trades, you can just auto attack, Q Crushing Blow, E Nimbus Strikethen W Warrior Trickster to disengage if you can't fight him.

After you had pushed the enemy wave in, taken the top turret or yours is taken, roam a lot and join team fights as much as you can. (be aware of your cs too)Even when you are behind, perfect ganks on mid or bot can get you back in the game.

There was one time that I was solo kill twice by the enemy Darius and i'm behind in levels and cs. So, I decided to join my team, as a fight is going on. I manage to get a double kill with lots of shutdown bounty which gets me back into the game.
Also, if you see the enemy jungler and laner ganking your other laners, try to gank the lane on the other side of the map where the enemy jungler and laner is not on (you can also follow on and try to interrupt the gank). If u succeed that gank it will make the gold income even, even if the enemy succeeds in the gank they are having. Besides, you can also try to take objectives and enemy jungler camps in order to put more pressure.

For conclusion, remember to push the wave into the enemy before roaming, or only roam when you destroy top lane or in other occasion, you got destroy and can't win fights against the enemy top lane.

Team Work

if u r building assassin mode, don't ever jump into team fights instantly, as the result is just a worthless death. Your role in the team fight is to go in and clean off the remaining enemies. You can also pick up the squishies, like the adc, midlaner or sup from behind or from beside. Just remember, don't jump into 5v5 team fights instantly unless u are building bruiser mode.

which skills to upgrade first for wukong

in my opinion, always max R Cyclone first --> q Crushing Blow (since E now scales with magic damage) for extra damage-->E Nimbus Strike--> W Warrior Trickster
Back to Top

Team Work

during teamfights, you job is mostly starting the fight by one-shoting (W>E>Q>R)the enemy squishies then fled. if you have guardian angel or u are tank enough, make sure your ult hits all the enemy for a five man knock-out then flash-out if u think u cant survive that, after that, your team will clean off the remaining. Besides, you can also wait for your team to start the fight, then up with a E>Q>R combo on the enemy who does the most damage and try to shut him down.
