Unlocked by completing mission: A Guardian's Pinnacle |
- Star Guardians are stronger together! Don't try to divide and conquer.
- Standing on an ally for 2 seconds revives them and gives you temporary immunity. Plus you can revive multiple allies at once – all the more reason to stick together!
- AOE is king! Certain clumps of enemies (
Vel'Koz,
Kog'Maw) are very difficult to take out without AOE burst.
- In game modes with the protection circle, stepping outside causes a lot of damage over time. Doing it quickly to save a friend or reach the goal can still work!
- Summoner spells refresh after each round. Burn them when you need them!
- All void champions count as real champions for certain items and masteries.
Morellonomicon will give you loads of mana, and
Fervor of Battle will stay at max stacks most of the round, while
Thunderlord's Decree will proc on any of them. Choose wisely!
- Healing is limited, with Lifesteal becoming progressively weaker as the game goes on. This makes
Soraka an incredible addition to any team comp.
- Health packs heal all Star Guardians – have your healthy teammates rush them to avoid risking low health Guardians.
- If you're going for a high score but mess up during a round, you can have your team suicide to reset the round with no score penalty for a retry. Be careful, as you can only retry a couple times per round before losing!
- Enemies tend to have high HP, high base armor and low magic resist, so itemize accordingly!
- All Guardians start the game at level 8, making scaling runes a great investment.
Encounter Types
- Survival – Defeat waves of enemies!
- Stick together for safety, but you'll sometimes need to sweep the outskirts of the map to clear out
Vel'Koz spawns.
- Clumps of enemies are extremely dangerous, especially Kog'Maw. Try to focus your burst on them soon after they spawn.
- Be quick about disposing of enemies, as you'll earn bonus points for clearing the area quickly!
- Stick together for safety, but you'll sometimes need to sweep the outskirts of the map to clear out
- Escape – Get to the escape point!
- Kill any
Vel'Koz that spawn as the round starts. If you don't kill them quickly, you'll be attacked from behind as well as in front!
- Only one teammate needs to reach the exit point, and it spawns a few seconds before the Guardian Shield reaches it. Having a mobile teammate rush the point (
Ahri,
Ezreal) can get your team out of a bind.
- There is no time bonus for this round, so for the maximum score, make sure you kill as many enemies as possible!
- Kill any
- Defense – Defend the area!
- Similar to both of the above modes, but the protection shield does not move.
- Try to both clump as a team and kite the enemy around the borders of the shield – but don't leave it unless you're trying to save a teammate!
- If
Vel'Koz spawn on the edges of the protection shield, be sure to clear them quickly!
- Avoid clumping up if
Cho'Gaths run through your area. If your whole team is getting
Ruptured, you'll have a tough time clearing enemies.
- Similar to both of the above modes, but the protection shield does not move.
- Boss Fight - The Big One
- Focus on rotating around the map and killing the minions (enemy champions). Focusing only the boss will get your team overwhelmed before you can finish him.
- The boss has a devastating AoE attack he telegraphs with arrows on the ground. The only way to avoid it is to get behind the large pillars or slimmer lampposts. Make sure you're close to cover at all times!
- In periods between waves, try to hit his eye for bonus damage!
- Watch for large arrows on the ground indicating the boss will dash. Get out of the way or interrupt the dash with
Steadfast Presence,
Howling Gale or
Scatter the Weak.
- The Boss cannot dash through pillars, so you're safe from him on the opposite side of the pillar. This can allow you to safely clear enemies or hit him for some free damage.
- Focus on rotating around the map and killing the minions (enemy champions). Focusing only the boss will get your team overwhelmed before you can finish him.
