Introduction

Oh my god, im so excited, they are finally creating a necromancer!! I'll save my IP to buy it as soon as its available!!

WHAT?? OMG IT SUCKS!! RIOT GIVE ME MY POINTS BACK!!

Does it sound familiar to you? Of course it does. That happened to me too pals. But now I'm glad to have it. What i thought it was a waste of IP, ended up being my main champion. And I hope to make it your main champion too after you read this guide and learn how to use it wisely. So here I go!

It works!

Here are some of my results with this build... as you see it does work pretty well, so take a chance on it before you vote :)

Masteries

The masteries i chose are defense-based. Utilities are useless since you dont really depend on your summoner spells and your mana pool and regen are enough to be annoying enough early game. The magic penetration you get will make your spells more annoying and keep your enemies away from minions while you farm and farm. Yorick is not a tank or dps by default, so he needs to stay alive as long as possible to make a difference.

Runes

Runes are also defensive. Greater Seal of Armor and Greater Glyph of Magic Resist for both armors will allow you to take enemies's harass with no problem. Greater Mark of Attack Damage will empower you and your ghosts, making you really annoying and being able to control any lane.

For Quintessences, you may use Greater Quintessence of Health or Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage. I personally choose HP, cuz i hate dying early game. But if you have a good offensive lane partner and you know the lane is yours to attack, feel free to take the Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage.

Summoner Spells

Im gonna repeat it several times in this guide, so get used to. YORICK NEEDS TO STAY ALIVE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE TO MAKE A DIFFENCE. Flash and Ghost are the best spells for both chasing and escaping. As soon as a teamfight starts, use Flash to get out of the middle and then go back in inmediately. It may sound stupid, but it will save you from most of AoE damages and you wont have to run in low hp.

ALTERNATIVES

If you get this, you may push alone like many people does, as well as buying more often without loosing any time and farming pretty well, or even escape too. It is more of a passive spell but still not a bad idea.

Pretty good to chase or stop someone who is chasing you. It is a good option. I prefer Flash and Ghost because any of those would make you escape from any amount of enemies. This is more an offensive spell which could be very useful early game, but useless late game. You may try it some time anyway.

Skills

Unholy Covenant

Yorick's summoned ghouls deal 35% of Yorick’s attack damage and have 35% of his total health. The Ghoul's health is reduced by 20% of their max health every second. In addition, Yorick takes 5% less damage and his attacks deal 5% more damage for each summon that is active.

Yorick's passive. Yorick + 3 ghouls + Yorick's ulti = more than 300% of your atk dmg. Not bad.

Omen of War

Yorick's next attack will deal 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 bonus physical damage and summon a Spectral Ghoul.

The Spectral Ghoul deals 8 / 16 / 24 / 32 / 40 physical damage and moves faster than the rest of the ghouls. While the ghoul is active, Yorick moves 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35% faster as well.

This is Yorick's best skill. But it has a con: melee range. So I think the best is taking only one lvl of this early game, so you can last hit minions or chase your enemies, and dont forget the atk bonus from Unholy Covenant.

Omen of Pestilence

Yorick summons a Decaying Ghoul that arrives with a violent explosion, dealing 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 (+0.8 per bonus attack damage) magic damage and slowing nearby enemies by 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% for 1.5 seconds. While the Decaying Ghoul remains alive, nearby enemies continue to be slowed by 10 / 12.5 / 15 / 17.5 / 20%.

I take this first for a simple reason: scouting bushes. The ghoul it summons grants you vision. Use this skill to last hit minions if you think its too dangerous to get close to auto-attack. And try to also hit your enemies, it deals considerable dmg and the ghoul will chase them aswell. Dont forget: your enemies are slowed as long as the ghoul is alive, NOT only if you hit them when you summon it. So when you are escaping, summon it anywhere to slow the chasers. Of course the same concept applies when you are the chaser.

Omen of Famine

Yorick deals 55 / 85 / 115 / 145 / 175 (+1.0 per bonus attack damage) magic damage and heals for up to 50% of the damage dealt. A Ravenous Ghoul is summoned behind his target, which heals Yorick for the damage it deals.

This is the skill that lets you stay in lane as long as you want. It heals you, plus you can use it to last hit minions and harass enemies too. The ghoul it summons will attack the target, and if it dies it will continue to attack nearby enemy champions or, if there are no nearby enemy champions, just another minion. So if you succesfully last-hit a minion, it will bother your enemy. It doesnt do any great dmg but for some reason ppl always go back til it dies :P

Omen of Death

Yorick conjures a revenant in the image of one of his allies that will has 50 / 75 / 100% of their max health and attack damage. If his ally dies while its revenant is alive, the revenant sacrifices itself to reanimate them temporarily by restoring them to full health and give them time to enact vengeance.

Just amazing. I saw most of people using it on themselves. Most of times it is a terrible mistake. I focus most of the items on the defense because of what i said: YORICK NEEDS TO STAY ALIVE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE TO MAKE A DIFFENCE. So the thing is, you are not supposed to die. And your damage is not gonna be outstanding. So, instead of using this amazing skill on yourself, use it on your team's AD carry! The image is not gonna cast any skill, so thats why you shouldnt use it on an AP carry. Use it on yourself ONLY when you are chasing alone or you are ganked. Even if you dont die, its worth the precaution.

Items

As I said, Yorick relies on survability. So the item build may change depending on who are your opponents. I chose this item build supposing that the enemy team is perfectly balanced between AP and AD. Of course this doesnt happen in every game, so i'll be showing you some alternatives depending on the situation. Feel free to alternate the order of the items according to the situation.

This is the only item you MUST get. It grants you enough mana regen to be able to constantly use your spells. So you will be able to last-hit minions, heal, and also harass your enemies.

If you are laning against at least 1 AP champion, you should get this first. Some MR plus more mana regen to last-hit even better and harass him enough to keep him away from farming. If you are laning against one or two AD enemies, you should get Ninja Tabi first, and then turn your Meki Pendant into a Tear of the Goddess.

If you are laning against at least 1 AD champion, get this first. It will grant you enough armor to take any attacks from him and then heal with Omen of Famine. If you are laning against AP champions only, you should obviously get Mercury's Treads

To make this clear, the first 2 items to buy are:

If you are laning against 1 AD and 1 AP.

if you are laning against both AD.

if you are laning against both AP.

It has everything you need to be painful enough. MS, atk dmg, crit, health, mana, slow chance on hit, and an amazing 150% extra dmg when you use an ability. It is very expensive, but it doesnt matter because you get great benefits while building it.

How should I build it?

There's no global answer for that question. It depends on how you are doing in the game, who your lane partner is, and who your enemies are. Most of the times, i get one of the 3 items needed, then i get Frozen Mallet, and after that i complete Trinity Force.

If your lane partner has a good disable (stun, slow or taunt), you should get Sheen first. It's gonna empower you when going for a kill, and also grant you some more mana to harass your enemies.

If your lane partner is a DPS and he has no good disable, you should get Phage first. In that case, when you decide to go for the kill, you are the one to initiate with Omen of Pestilence and if you are lucky, one of your hits will slow your enemy a bit longer.

If you think your enemies are too dangerous and you realize that going for a kill is not the best option, you should get Zeal first. It will help you escape if your enemies are the ones trying to go for the kill. However, Phage is also a good option in this case, because of the health it gives you. Both Phage and Zeal could be useful for a counter-attack move...

After getting the first of Trinity Force's items (doesnt matter which of them), this is the item to build. At this point you should be able to kill any of the enemy champions in PvP. Your damage is not outstanding, but this will prevent them from escaping and you will get a slow kill. On the defensive side, you will have 700 more HP, what makes you kind of tanky considering your armors.

REMEMBER TO FINISH Trinity Force AFTER GETTING MALLET :)

At this point, you have enough damage and disabling to kill anyone. So now your task is to survive.

If your enemies are high on AP, get this. Aside from the obviously high MR it grants, it also grants some more MS. So your base movement speed will now be 457. You are impossible to chase, and its now impossible to escape from you.

If your enemies are high on AD, get this. Some more armor, crit chance, and about 50 more damage. Not bad at all.

Now if you have Tear of the Goddess its time to turn it into Manamune. Actually, you should probably do it at some point before you complete your set. Maybe after getting Trinity Force is a good time to do it.

But if you have Chalice of Harmony instead, you should sell it to buy something better. At this point some of your enemies are probably pretty annoying. So choose your last item carefully. Most of times the best choices are Thornmail or Banshee's Veil. But here is a list of alternatives that are worth a shot.

This is my favourite item. It just makes you rape everyone in teamfights, aswell as escaping or chasing, and the CDR is quite useful.

Insane speed will make you "unchasable". Atk speed and crit chance are good enhancements too.

Enemy AD carry is too powerful by the time, so you may need even more Armor and the dmg return is just amazing for raping Vayne, Gangplank, Master Yi and others.

This is an item to think about ALWAYS. Doesnt matter who you are, consider this as an option.

If you are doing pretty good and you are facing a Malzahar, Warwick, or Urgot, you should get this for a simple reason: it cancels supress effect.

Your armors are ok, so why not to get some more hp?

Get this only if you are facing a tough healer like Swain, Alistar or Dr. Mundo. 50% reduced regeneration for 8 sec is more than enough to get them killed.

As you see, the last item is more like an strategic item. Pick it carefully.

Jungling

Yorick can jungle. But being able to jungle doesnt mean that you actually should jungle. In fact, you shouldnt. Thats why im not gonna teach you how. Yorick is one of the best lane farmers and controllers. And he is not hell of a ganker. So consider jungling only if your lane partner really needs to farm and he can take a lane alone.

Gameplay

Early Game

As i said, Yorick is one of the best (if not THE best) lane farmers AND controllers. Omen of Pestilence and Omen of Famine lets him last-hit every minion without getting any closer and also harass enemies to keep them away from farming. Mana costs are quite low so thats not a problem. At lvl 5, if there's no jungler in your team, you should get Blue Buff, and as long as you have it the lane is totally yours. If you have a jungler thats a luxury you wont be able to have, but you will have another luxury: a solo lane for you :). Omen of Pestilence is an area skill, so if you use it well you are gonna have both enemy champions in low health all the time. If one of them is a healer they could be some more annoying, so in that case dont even harass them, just use your skills for farming.

In a duo-lane you must be extremely offensive, now that you have a partner you can ignore the healer and harass anyway (unless they are both healers, but that wont be happening that much). Dont forget to get the blue buff everytime you can EARLY game. In late game you may let your AP carry get that buff.

Dragon

Yorick can solo the dragon at lvl 5 with the blue buff or once he gets Sheen. So you may do that, but try to kill it with a teammate for 2 reasons: Gank prevention, and speed. Of course you can kill that dragon on your own, but it would be too slow.

Mid Game

Keep farming til you get Trinity Force. Dont get involved in teamfights if the team doesnt really needs you. Once you get it, dont ever miss a teamfight. If the enemy team is high on AoE, a good thing to do is flashing out of the fight as soon as it starts (most of AoE spells are used first) and then go back in with your full HP and rape everyone.

By the time you get Frozen Mallet, you shouldnt die til the game ends. Maybe once again, not more than that. If you are heavily focused, just use your ulti on your team's AD carry and run while he and his image rapes the idiots who chases you. Even if you die your team will win the fight, you are tough enough to survive quite long, so in that time the rest of your team should get a considerable advantage on the fight. So next time you wont be the focus... and that means you are gonna win the fight too :)

Late Game

Your speed is high enough to escape from anyone. And you are powerful enough to kill anyone. So, why not to run around the map and jungles looking for your enemies and killing them? Feed yourself to get the rest of the items. Even tho you are not the tank, get Oracle's Elixir if its needed, you shouldnt die. Push with your team as much as you can. Steal your enemy's blue buff (let you AP carry get the other blue buff). In other words, have fun til the game ends. Thats what Yorick is about.

Summary

I hope I told you enough to own like I use to do. All you can do now is test it and tell me what you think. Suggestions are welcome.

I'd like to apologize for my dumb english. I know im not the best when it comes to explaining in my own language (spanish), and i guess that wont change in any other language, but I think you can understand the main idea of this guide anyway.

So have fun and i'll see you soon :)
