Introduction

Hey Guys, My name is Goddangitbobby and this is my first guide so don't judge me too hard, I'm still learning. But anyway... I hope you enjoy what I've done and feel free to give me some tips on what I need to do better (because I really need it).

Why troll on Thresh?.

Thresh I my opinion is an extremely fun to play in general. But some times playing support can get boring because you either want to be able to do ALOTT'A DAMAGE or you want to ks. Well, if you like trying to 1v1, trying to hit skill shots, or doing ALOTT'A DAMAGE, this guide is for you.

Domination Runes

DOMINATION

I Personally like to runelectrocute for the extra damage that you deal out. But i also like to runpredator because Thresh is pretty immobile and sometimes needs the extra speed to catch up to your enemy.

I then like to runCheap Shot for the true damage as it Procs after your Q,E and R. I like to run this oversudden impacted because it's easier to Proc and does true damage which you need to cut down Tankier Champions.

I then reccomendeyeball collection as you will be canstantly trying to find and destroy enemy wards in the bushes near your lane. Between your kills/assists and pink warding bushes to find other wards you should stack your eyeballs relatively quickly.Ghost poro isn't that good in my opinion. It is like a pink ward in that you can walk into the bush and they can destroy it, but it can't spot out other wards. Takezombie ward in a situation when you think the other team might try to either hard camp top or repeat gank you or if you don't feel safe in your own lane.

Finally i like to goRavenous hunter for the life steal. It provides good sustain in lane which you need fairly early on in the game. It can also save your *** in fights. TakeIngenious hunter after you play a few games and you think that his abilities still take too much CDR for your liking. You can takeRelentless hunter when you plan on buying some life steal options so you can have the sustain and be able to run your enemies down. Lastly you can goUltimate hunter but I wouldn't recommend it because, even though your Ult May be useful you don't really need it too often.

For the Extra runes on Domination I recommend runningTriumph andCoup De Grace. I These are the standard extra runes for when you run domination but they are standard for a good reason.Triumph is helps save you from minion autos if your in a close fight and trying to run awaycoup de grace because you can really start to chunk them down when their below 40% health.

Precision Runes

PRECISION

For precision Runes you have a lot of rally good options. I would recommend going forpress the attack. I say this because you can do a lot more damage to champions throughout the fight, plus if they underestimate you early on and go for the 1v1 without their jungler get your 3 autos off and walk behind your minion wave then go all in. This is because the vulnerability means that minions do more damage to them making it easier for the kill. My other choice is to goconqueror due to the extra adaptive damage it does, plus 4 seconds go past rather quickly when the enemy is mostly stunned or slowed for most of them when you hit your Q.Fleet footwork isn't bad, as it provides lane sustain and some extra movement speed but just remember you are trolling so you really want to be doing more damage in your lane.Lethal tempo also isn't bad. In the early game it can come in very handy but in late game (and depending on your items) it falls off.

Next I go triumph as most people do. Plus it's the only one that thresh can use to the most potential.

Then I either goLegend: Alacrity orBloodline. If you choose to go for more attack speed related items I would reckoned going blood line for the sustain in lane and team fights. Alacrity is good if you go more damage or ap build for obvious reasons.

Finally I like to go Coup de grace for the same reasons as in the domination runes

For Sub runes because I already haveTriumph, I like to go Sorcery and getCelerity because you need the movement speed plus adaptive damage andGathering storm for the growing damage which scales well late game.

Skill Sequence

  • Damnation
This drops souls which is his way of scaling armor and magic resistance.
Dark Passage's shield adds the the amount of souls collected onto the shield.

  • Death sentence
This scales with 50% AP to do more damage. This is your main engage tool. You will want to Q into fights which will slow the enemy making it easier to get t you. You can also use it as an escape tool as well, by grappling monsters and other things over the wall and pulling yourself over. You will want to max this third after your ultimate. This may be your main source of engage but it has a long cool-down plus it doesn't do a lot of damage.

  • Dark Passage
This is a good engage, disengage, and shield all in one. You can throw your lantern into a bush and your jungler can be flung into the fight. It also provides you a shield which comes in very handy in fights. When i say it's a good disengage tool, i mean that it helps other people disengage. For example your jungler decides to tower dive throw your lantern under and stand outside the turret range so they takes less damage. You will want to max this skill last as you will use this less than you all the others.

  • Flay
This is where your main source of damage comes from. You will want to max this skill first because it means your autos to more damage scaling with damnation. It's also your main source of wave clear and Ability damage.Flays Passive means that the more souls you collect the more magic damage you will do on auto attacks. Make sure collect as many souls as you can, otherwise you will do less damage and be even more squishy.

  • The Box
This is your ultimate. This is one of your best fighting tools. It slows the enemy down dramatically which means you can get alot of autos off in that time which can come in very handy (Clearly).

Spells

Summoner Spells

Heal
I Prefer going Heal because your extremely squishy, it can also decide your fate in fights.

Teleport
It's the standard top lane spell. Good for ganks and getting to team fights quickly. If your Building more Tanky this is probably the spell to take.

Ignite
Take this spell if your versing someone squishy or a champion with alot of passive healing.

Items

Starting Items
For starting Items You have 3 depending on who your versing and what your Building. Doran's ring is good for when your wanting to build AP or think you will need the extra mana regen while laning.
Dorna's Shield is Useful if you think you will get kited or just bullied in your laneby the other champion. Doran's Blade is your main go to starting item as you will be wanting to do alot of damage straight out of the gate.

First Back
Your First back consists of the main items you will need to Build for your 3 Core Items. I recommend rushing recurve bow the you decide out of the other 2.

Core Items
It doesn't really matter which core item you get first. RageBlade because it means you do extra damage per auto attack plus attack speed. Stormrazor gives you crit after a few seconds of not attacking which is goo for when you want to poke plus some damage and attack speed which is very nice. Statikk shiv is a standard crit item. It's Passive is the reason you want statikk shiv. It helps with wave clearing which is great considering your only other wave clear is your E.

Boots
I recommend rushing boots as the second item. It means you can roam and move across the map quicker. It also means that your enemy laner is easier to run down plus their attacks do less damage (If you get Mercury's Treads and Ninja Tabi's)

Life Steal
When Playing Thresh, you will need some kind of life steal one way or another. In all my builds i have at least one life steal item. this is because he's basically an ADC in that he does alot of damage but doesn't do alot of damage, which means he needs some sort of sustain in lane, AKA life steal.

Damage
You will want to have at least one damage item in all your builds even full AP build. You will want this because his abilities have long CDR which means you still need to deal some consistent damage till you get them back.

Critical Strike
Critical damage isn't as important as damage but it's still good to have at least some sort (unless your going full AP). I wouldn't recommend going PD because statikk shiv, and Rapid Firecannon work better for him.

Ability Power
For AP you really want some CDR. Your cooldowns are hella long so you will want to pick up a fair bit. I would also rccomending going for CDR in runes which can help. You do have alot of ability power to choose from but my main recommendations are going Lich Bane, Nashors Tooth, and Hextech gunblade (You want hextech gunblade because your CDR is trash so you need to do some damage in between your abilities).

For a True one-shot potential your Build should be some thing like statikk shiv, rapid firecannon, I.E, then Youmuu's, Duskblade and finally Lich bane. Don't worry about boots because out of combat you get 17% extra movement speed plus 40 movement speed out of combat and Youmuu's active. I Know what your thinking. Why Lich Bane and not more crit or damage. Well, it does 75% of your attack damage plus 50% AP in ONE AUTO. Which means if you Q in on someone (if you have the full Build) your next auto will deal about 400 DAMAGE plus Crit and Plus however many souls you've collected.

Tips and Tricks

In early game remember to poke them with your autos.
When losing a fight or running away from you enemy remember to get fancy with your Q. Try Grappling jungle creature to throw yourself over wall and save your your flash (just don't get killed by them though).
If the enemy is under your tower Q engage drag them under, E to drag them under more W for shield and Ult to keep them under your tower. Let the tower do the work.
When the jungle is coming for a tank throw your W at them and immediately go in and try to save your Q for when they try to flash out.
Remember in team fights engage like you normally would, use all your skills then get out again because you might have relatively high MR and Armor But you are still relatively squishy.

Summary / Notes

Notes

AS you have probably noticed my runes are mainly offensive based, but you can pick and choose as you please.

You really want your runes to be doing consistent damage all throughout the game so runes such as lethal tempo, fleet footwork and Hail of blades isn't always a good choice (But depending on who you versing it can be).
You can use taste of blood instead of ravenous hunter
Try to get some CDR items early because they have rather long cooldowns early on.
If you take Taste Of Blood i reccomend going Relentless hunter so you can have the extra movement speed when chasing lane.

Summary
Thanks to everyone who reads my guide, I really appreciate it a lot, and thanks to those for leaving comments and suggestions, I will try to fix any mistakes I have made and thanks again for the support.
