Starting items
I usally start with
Long Sword and a
Health Potion. That does so I can get my
Wriggle's Lantern much faster. If you're not sure you can handle lane you can take
Cloth Armor 5
Health Potion against AD lane
Boots 3
Health Potion against AP lane
If you want to go for first blood you can get
Doran's Blade or
Doran's Shield but i recomend going for the fast

I Always get

Trinity Force These items makes udyr very strong and he does really nice damage with just these items. But if it's a very long game you might want to change

Early game:
In early game you want
Wriggle's Lantern pretty fast so you can take dragon and jungle easy
Ninja Tabi against AD team
Mercury's Treads against AP/cc team
Mid game:
Now I start to buy my tank items

Sunfire Aegis
I prefer
Thornmail for It's pasive

Late game:
Now you're so tanky you almost can't die. It's time to do some damage!
I always go for a
Trinity Force since it's such a good item for Udyr. You should get a trinity force in every game unless you win before you can get one.
If you face a tanky team you should get
Madred's Bloodrazor
Wit's End gives MR as well
Black Cleaverif you want to burst thought their armor
Youmuu's Ghostblade gives a short speed buff so you can initiate easier.
Bloodthirster gives a lot of AD to your tiger stance and life steal to keep you alive. If you die a lot you shouldn't get one because it can be hard to farm up.
Frozen Mallet Gives nice with hp, a little more damage and a very nice slow.
Atma's Impaler gives armmor and a nice damage buff if you have a lot of HP. If you get
Atma's Impaler get some HP items like
Warmog's Armor or
Frozen Mallet or both.

Build 2 against AD team
Build 3 against AP team

Build 1 against balanced team

All of udyrs stance cost 55/50/45/40/35 mana and have 6 seconds cooldown. Udyr is one of the few champions that doesn't have an ultimate, instead he has 4 strong stances.
Tiger stance
This spell increase attack speed for a short duruation and does extra magic damage for 2 seconds on first target you attack
Extra damage 30/80/130/180/220 + 150% AD
Persistent Effect: increase attack speed with 20/25/30/35/40 %
This is udyrs main damage source. It does magic damage and makes it's hard to counter udyr because he does both magic and physical damage. This spells leaves a 2 second dot on the player/minion you attack. I usually charge with bear stance and stun then take tiger stance and leave the dot and now they have lost 1/3 of their hp in early game. Tiger stance have one of the best AD ratios in game and thats one reason to why I love it.
Turtle stance
This spell gives udyr a temporary shield
Shield 60/100/140/180/220+ 50% AP
Persistent Effect: gives udyr 10/12/14/16/18 damage as hp and 5/6/7/8/9% as mana but udyr can't crit when having turtle stance on
This stance makes udyr sooooo tanky. 200 shield every 6 seconds and the shield become harder to get down the more MR/Armor you have.If you know you gonna be hit by a spell you can use turtle stance to reduce the damage you're gonna take. This stance have saved my life many times. Turtle stance is very good to use if you want to get your mana and health upp.
Bear stance
This spell gives you a short speed buff and you will stun your target.
Movement speed buff 15/18/21/24/27 for 2/2,5/3/,3,5/4 seconds
Persistent Effect: You stun your target. You can only stun the same target once every 6 seconds
Bear stance is a great spell to use if you are chasing an enemy or if you want to run away from an enemy. You can always stun the enemy to get some extra space when you are running away.
Phoenix stance
Udyr does AoE damage for 5 seconds
15/25/34/35/45/55 AoE damage every second and he gets 16/24/32/40/48 AP for the duration
Persistent Effect: Every third attack does 40/80/120/160/200 extra magic damage to targets in front of him
I don't use phoenix stance so much. I only use this stance when attacking towers to get some extra damage and kepping[monkey's aggilty] up. I think phoenix stance is more of a farming/pushing stance.
Monkey's agility
This is udyr pasive and it gives you 10% more attack speed every time you use a stance. This effect stack up to 3 times so you can get 30 % attack speed from it.This pasive is great for jungling. The buff last 5 seconds so you need to change stances to keep the buff up.

Flash I use flash so I can escape or initiate fights. It's still a good summmoner spell after nerf. Can be used in in many good ways with udyr like flash to stun and kill an enemy.
Exhaust Exhaust will stop enemies damage and make them easier to kill. Also userfull when chasing enemies
Other summoner spells:
Ignite I only use ignite if nobody on my team has it. A great spell agaist champion like
Tryndamere and
Fiddlesticks
Ghost I use it like flash to initiate or escape and it stacks with bear stance. But you can't jump through walls with ghost.
Cleanse If you know you are going to face a cc team but i like to get
Quicksilver Sash instead.




Other summoner spells:






Udyr can be a good laner but if you're not used with Udyr go bot lane and not solo top. Udyr need some farm from the lane to become strong and tanky. If you have a hard time laning max turtle stance to make the laning easier. Durring the laning phase your goal is to get farmed and might get some kills if you'r good. He has no ranged attacks so he can be outzooned. Then try to get last hit so you'll be able to kill them later when your tanky. You can hide in bush and then strike them with tiger stance and you've might be able to zone them out.
Turtle stance makes udyr a good laner. You don't take any damage and regain health and mana. Try use turtle stance while lasthiting for the health and mana you regain and if they come close you can harass your enemy pretty good with tiger stance. On low lvl it can do about a 1/3 of your enemys hp if their not so tanky.
If you get your
Wriggle's Lantern early you can push your lane and then take the buffs. It's a great way to get some extra gold and xp. With wriggle's you can take solo dragon, But if yyou try it make sure you won't be ganked.
