[12.15] DRAVEN RUNES AND ITEMS GUIDE - BEST DRAVEN BUILD

By Dazlirn
Introduction

ABOUT ME

Hello there, the name's Dazlirn and I am not just a Draven OTP.

I am also an innovator, philosopher, motivational speaker, an artist, designer, creative thinker, entrepenuer, a World Class Chef (recently started my own cooking show on Youtube), an athlete, former body builder, an esports athelete, perfect, and most important of all, I am an Indomitable Force.

Also a Former AAA 2400 Social Credit Score Citizen in China.

Cringe jokes aside, I am definitely not the best Draven out there, perhaps one day I will be. I'm also not a high elo player but I do believe I have a great game knowledge in terms of runes and items as I have invested a lot of time experimenting, testing, and calculating.

What I find the most fun in this game is experimenting with different builds and I often spend more time doing just that rather than focusing and trying hard to climb.

I do recommend these Draven mains if you would like to improve your gameplay.

I am simply here to spread my knowledge of runes and items, not a Challenger Draven Guide.

Vincent Draven
Tyler1 (No Longer OTP)
The King Himself Pornstar Zilean (Inactive)
Humzh
yayhongpenguin
RiverSanzu
Dealersz
Slendoooo (Put Volume On Max Kappa)
ChadDraven
NCXA (She's a very good player)
Jackspektra (No Longer OTP)

I personally think majority of the high elo Draven mains are building the wrong items, obviously they are better at the game than me so feel free to not take my words and just copy their builds instead, the choice is yours.

I used to be a Twitch streamer, however, I am as of right now indefinitely suspended due to my anger issues and currently streams and uploads on Youtube. Oh and follow me on Twitter and Instagram and feel free to join my Discord if you have questions or want to discuss things, keep it friendly tho <3.

Keystones

Which Keystone is the best on Draven?

The debate of which Keystone to take on Draven always ends up in a heated argument with insults of mothers. Mothers are always lovely people and do not deserve all the insults. The best example is Conqueror vs Hail of Blades.

Conqueror is the most overrated and underrated keystone of all times. I often see in debates, people always say Conqueror requires the most skills to play. While I personally disagree and actually believe Conqueror to be the easiest keystone to play with, I do see where they are coming from. Conqueror is a keystone where every auto attack grants you Bonus AD, abilities like Draven's E and R if lands will grant 2 stacks instead of 1. When it reaches 12 stacks it will grant lifesteal. It's the easiest keystone to play in terms of auto piloting but I guess it is the hardest keystone to play in terms of not having a keystone that does anything fancy. Although it does make sense that Conqueror fits Draven as a keystone since Draven's Q scales with Bonus AD and Conqueror gives you exactly just that. However, due to Conqueror being used better by melee champions than Draven himself, the keystone is always nerfed and the Bonus AD really isn't all that much. Conqueror does excel in many situations where you take extended trades and prolonged fights.

Hail of Blades is absolutely underestimated by those who doesn't play it. The potential of burst trades with this keystone in lane is very good, whenever the enemy overextends you can chunk them with three axes instantly. Or just overall chunking down your enemies quickly in all ins. Many people argues that Hail of Blades' cooldown of 12s is too long and that you don't have a keystone for 12s. While that is true, it is also very unlikely that you will be in fights every second of the game. People also argues that the Domination tree is inferior to Precision tree paired with Sorcery tree as it gives less AD and need kills/assists to complete. It's true that it does give less AD and it is harder to complete, but in my opinion the extra AD really doesn't matter all that much and you also shouldn't be insecure about getting 10 kill participation in one game. It does scale better when it reaches 30 minutes and 40 minutes into the game but as Draven your goal is to establish your lead early and by then the extra Bonus AD really doesn't do all that much. Your main goal as Draven shouldn't be playing til 30 - 40 minutes for your Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm powerspike, it should be getting as many kills as possible and snowballing that lead to end the game as soon as possible.

Lethal Tempo has become a more than viable keystone for Draven after the Season 12 Rework. I personally have yet to play this keystone enough to give a definite opinion on it, but from what I have seen it's really good and the extra range helps you get kills where you normally wouldn't be able to. I do think it's a great replacement for Conqueror but I don't think it is a replacement for Hail of Blades as they both aim to do different things. However, Conqueror and Lethal Tempo both do the samething except one gives AD and one gives Attack Speed and Longer Range, and it's also easier to stack.

Press the Attack is in my opinion inferior to Conqueror, Hail of Blades, and Lethal Tempo in the botlane. Press the Attack only works on one target and there are two target. I've noticed any Dravens who play PTA in botlane often ends up in situations where they hit enemy ADC twice before they are out of range, then they hit enemy support twice and they also get out of range. It is definitely viable though, if you like this keystone you should definitely play it. It's a very nice keystone in a solo lane like top or mid. Also nice when vsing a Yuumi.

Conclusion

In conclusion, whatever keystone you take you should try to build the items that matches it the most, obviously the synergy bewteen items and keystones/runes are little to none, but what I meant was if your build is lacking Attack Speed, consider taking Lethal Tempo. If your build lacks lifesteal, consider taking Legend: Bloodline and Ravenous Hunter.

In my opinion, I think you should play the keystones and runes that suits your playstyle the most. If you watch your replays, you will always find situations where one keystone may have performed better than the other, and you could either pick keystone depending on team comp or just play to excel in situations where your keystone would be the most efficient.

As of right now, I personally mostly play Hail of Blades and play the Prowler's Claw build, or more commonly known as Vincent Draven's build. But majority of Season 11 I mostly played Conqueror and played the Duskblade of Draktharr build, more commonly known as PSZ build.

Runes

Here I will be using the Keystone and Runes that I use as an example. With Domination Tree being your Primary, your best choice is to take Precision Tree as your Secondary, as well as the Sorcery Tree and Inspiration Tree. Runes such as Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm aren't bad.

The Keystone Hail of Blades will definitely be your best choice on the Domination Tree. Some players play Dark Harvest but this Keystone really isn't viable in comparison to Hail of Blades.

Taste of Blood will definitely be your main choice as the extra healing can help you sustain in lane. Cheap Shot is also pretty nice and Sudden Impact could work with Duskblade of Draktharr.

Eyeball Collection is 100% the best choice here as Zombie Ward will require you to consistently search and destoy enemy wards and Ghost Poro will require you to wait for your wards to expire which could take awhile.

On this last row, Treasure Hunter is selected as default as it is in my opinion just as viable as Ingenious Hunter, as well as the other 2. So I think unless you are playing itmes such as Immortal Shieldbow, where there is a very long cooldown, Ingenious Hunter isn't as valuable as it could be.

For my Secondary Tree I always go Precision Tree as I believe it has the most valuable Runes in comparison to the Sorcery Tree and Inspiration Tree. Legend: Bloodline from the Precision Tree has great synergy with Ravenous Hunter and Taste of Blood from the Domination Tree.

I usually take Triumph if I'm rushing Essence Reaver without the Serrated Dirk and Presence of Mind if I'm building a Serrated Dirk before I build into Essence Reaver.

I either go Legend: Bloodline with Attack Speed and Adaptive bonus or I go Legend: Alacrity with double Adaptive. It is up to your playstyle and what you prefer.

This last row doesn't have any runes that are worth going in my opinion. You could always sacrifice the first row to go Coup de Grace if that's what you like, or Cut Down vs tanks, or Last Stand vs poke lanes.

How Does Lethality Work?

NOTE: Lethality is Flat Armor Penetration that is slowly unlocked as you level up. For example, if you had 18 Lethality, it would ignore 18 armor at level 18 and at level 1 it would ignore 11.2 armor. Each level you unlock 0.4 Flat Armor Penetration.

Percentage Armor Penetration is applied before Flat Armor Penetration. Meaning if you had 18 Lethality and 35% Armor Penetration, and you hit a target who has 100 armor, the 35% Armor Penetration will be applied first, bringing it down to 65 Armor. Then the 18 Lethality will be applied bringing it down to 47 armor.

This is the reason why Lethality must be built with Lord Dominik's Regards as the Percentage Armor Penetration amplifies the damage of your Lethality. If Lethality were to be applied first the 100 armor would have been 53.3 armor instead.
Lord Dominik's Regards basically injects steroids into your Lethality, it is the icing on top of the cake.

Percentage Armor Penetration is also capped at 48%. With Eclipse and Lord Dominik's Regards, you have a total of 51% Armor Penetration at full build with boots and 55% Armor Penetration at full build without boots. So those 3%|7% is wasted, diminishing returns.

Lethality on the otherside is not capped and the most you can get is 105, that is obatined from only Lethality items. Obviously it is not the smartest items to build on Draven, hence Prowler's Claw is definitely the way to go.

If you build Essence Reaver, The Collector, Lord Dominik's Regards, Prowler's Claw, and Infinity Edge, you will have a total of 50 Lethality and 35% Armor Penetration. 73 Lethality if you sell boots for Youmuu's Ghostblade. Your Critical Strikes will be a lot higher too since you are Critting on targets who are missing a huge chunk of their armor.

Mythic Items

Prowler's Claw is the highest damage mythic item Draven can build. However, it's power is not unleashed until you have around 3-4 items, referring to Essence Reaver(40 Ability Haste in total to consistently join fights with 3 axes), The Collector, and Lord Dominik's Regards. You get a total of 50 Lethality and 35% Armor Penetration, 73 Lethality if sell boots for Youmuu's Ghostblade.

Eclipse is most strongest at 2nd - 4th item in comparison to Prowler's Claw. It lacks the 40 Ability Haste synergy that Essence Reaver has with Prowler's Claw, however, it does have healing in return. Eclipse overall does less damage than Prowler's Claw at full build and it's passive cannot be fully utilised at full build. It's definitely a good item to build on Draven.

Duskblade of Draktharr is the strongest first item you can build on Draven. It is also extremely powerful when you have your second and third item, and is very fun to play with. It does fall off mid-late game due to it's passive only giving Ability Haste, but the passive does make the item very strong. In my opinion, Duskblade of Draktharr is more than viable and should definitely play it if you enjoy it.

Galeforce is probably the strongest Marksman Mythic Item or the same as Kraken Slayer. For the Conqueror enjoyers, Galeforce passive when activated gives 2 stacks of Conqueror. It's Mythic Passive is not as good as Immortal Shieldbow's passive however, I do believe it is better than Kraken Slayer's Mythic Passive which I will explain down below.

Kraken Slayer I believe is either just as good as Galeforce or slightly worse due to it's Mythic Passive. The reason why I believe the Attack Speed is not as good as the Movement Speed is because as of right now, whichever ADC utilises Attack Speed the best is the strongest, like Jinx. These champions tend to also outrange Draven. We do not scale well with Attack Speed and the extra Movement Speed will act as a gap closer.

Immortal Shieldbow In my opinion, this has to be the worst Mythic Item to build on Draven at the moment. Sure the shield does come in clutch sometimes but after the nerf it really isn't that efficient and Mythic Passive does give Bonus AD which scales well with Draven's Q. However, this item does so little damage early on especially as a first item, and AD on items are so low after the rework it's more worth it to prioritise Lethality and Armor Penetration than the Bonus AD.

Legendary Items

NOTE: Since there are quite a bit of Legendary Items, I will not go through all of them. I will however go through the S Tier Items and the A Tier Items in my Items Tierlist. But before we get into the items, I will first explain why I made a Tierlist for the items.

Just like the Keystones and Runes, I believe each item excels in different situations and playstyles. If you don't like the build I recommended you could make your own build through the Tierlist that suits the way you play.

S Tier Items

Essence Reaver is a very controversial item. People either like it or hate it. I personally think Essence Reaver is a must build on Draven due to Draven's ability to proc it's passive consistently. Most players tend to compared this item with The Collector and see which one is better to build, but in my opinion you should be building both since they are both insanely good items for Draven.

The Collector Almost everyone builds this item, it is the most popular 2nd item and it deserves to stay there. The Collector does do more damage than Essence Reaver due to it's higher AD and Lethality stats. However, like I always say, you should be building both items as they are both really good on Draven. The Collector is also a good bridge for Lethality items like Prowler's Claw to Crit items like Infinity Edge

Lord Dominik's Regards is a must have on Draven, especially if you're building Lethality. As explained earlier, Lord Dominik's Regards amplifies your Lethality so it does even more damage and it is the icing on the cake. Lord Dominik's Regards's passive is very useful currently as almost everyone builds items that gives Health and Armor. Lord Dominik's Regards is also very nice for the 12 Lethality on your The Collector.

A Tier Items

Infinity Edge Is currently the highest AD item in the game and is in my opinion a must have when building Crit. The reason why I have Infinity Edge as A Tier and not S Tier is the fact that Infinity Edge has a rough build path compared to the other items, it's pretty expensive and two prior Crit items are required to match the 60% Crit to active Infinity Edge's passive.

The Final Chapter

This will be it for my Draven Guide for now, I will add more as time goes by (as I improve) to turn this into an actual Draven Guide not just mostly focusing on Runes and Items.

Anyways, thank you so much for reading this far, feel free to give it an upvote if you liked it or found anything useful, if you think I've said anything wrong or you disagree with my builds, feel free to join my Discord and discuss it with me, keep it friendly tho, I'm always down to learn more and expand my knowledge.
