Introduction

I have played akali quite a number of times and almost everytime i dominate my lane opponent easily.

Akali because of her ultimate Shadow Dance can give her so much mobility.I had alot of fun play akali and i think it's time to write a guide about her explaining how i play her.

I have taken alot of time to write this guide and hopefully you guys can try it out and see how well it works before rating it down.

Pros and Cons

Pros =)

-Alot of mobility with her ultimate
-With ultimate almost nobody can escape her
-Dominate early game with her passive
-A great 1v1 champion
-A Sexy female flippin' ninja that uses energy

Cons =(

-Hard to kill without her ultimate
-Requires Practice on how to properly use her Twilight Shroud
-Squishy at before getting rylai's
-expensive to get her passive Twin Disciplines up

Masteries and Runes

Overview of Masteries to take


The masteries i have taken is very simple with 21 points in the offensive tree taking AP and Magic Penetration and Brute Force . This skill is a must have as together with your Runes,the damage activate your AD passive Twin Disciplines. Spellsword is also a very useful skill that i have taken as it stacks with your AP passive Twin Disciplines.The reason i take only 1 point of Mental Force is because i rather pump more points into Archmage as it gives a bonus AP based on percentage which may give less in early game,but to much more in late game,beside your passive twin diciplines is already going to help you alot in your early game trades and fights.

I take 3 greater quintessence of ability power for AP to help increase AP and 9 Greater Marks of attack damage for her passive Twin Disciplines at the start of the game.Together with brute strength her AD passive will already be up.For the AP to be active, i take 3 Greater Glyph of ability power. I take magic resist per lvl Glyph for the rest of m glyph for survivalbility against an AP Mid champion.For my seals, i take flat armor seals to survive in teamfights to be able to survive and deal damage.

I take Mark of the Assassin first to help abit with the last hits and to harass the enemy champion as it is your only range skill.If they dare to Approach you even after you mark them,show them no mercy and attack them.This is where most of your burst comes from so it is only natural that you max it first.


Twilight Shroud for lvl2 is for the slow and invisibility.Throw down a Shroud in the middle of the creep wave and i can bet you the enemy will not dare to come close to the creep giving you free farm and depriving him of creep scores.Stay in the shroud and normal attack the creeps once they get low enough.If they decide to be greedy and farm throw your mark of the assassin to scare them away.You can also use this skill to hide from enemy and delay them while your team come and help you if you get ganked.

A good way to use Twilight Shroud when gank and your team is too far to help is to stand at the edge of the shroud, Flash away and Shadow Dance to the nearest creep.


Take Crescent Slash for lvl 3 to deal more damage to the enemy champion.Throw your Mark of the assassin first and then crescent slash them for a huge amount of damage.Max this skill second. Crescent Slash is a skill that can help push the lane quite fast and a great farming skill.



Of course take your ultimate Shadow Dance whenever you can like almost every other champion.With your Shadow Dance you can easily kill your lane opponent like abc.Throw your mark of the assassin followed by dashing to the enemy triggering the mark dealing quite an amount of damage followed by crescent slash.After this combo they should be more then half down and hugging tower like no tomorrow.Wait for your cooldown to reset and this time dash to the enemy first followed by the mark and crescent slash for an easy finish.DO NOT BE AFRAID TO WASTE YOUR Shadow Dance AS IT HAVE VERY SMALL COOLDOWN
So in summary use your skills in this sequence if you are near an enemy

Summoner Spells

Optimal Spells for Akali

Barrier is very useful as it can be used to save you from the ever irretating Ignite and for diving tower to get the last hit enough to kill your enemy champion.Try to save Barrier for when you are in trouble and the enemy pops an Ignite. Barrier could very well save your life and the cooldown is the same as ignite so you should never fear of ignite ever able of killing you ever again.

Flash is a very useful summoner spell that can also be used two ways,engage or escape.If combined with your Shadow Dance, the distance covered is godlike.You can also combine Flash with your Twilight Shroud and Shadow Dance for the ultimate escape.Throw down a Twilight Shroud,stand at the edge and Flash as far as possible preferably nearest to a creep as you possibly can and Shadow Dance away to the further creep possible.

You can also engage by using Flash and Shadow Dance together with Igniteto an unsuspecting victim, securing the kill.


Variable Summoner Spells

Ignite have just been nerfed and the cooldown is not really worth it as now in season 3, enemy can just barrier and get away with the ignite damage.You can combine this skill together with Flash for a very deadly combo.
Ghost can easily outrun the distance of Flash, however you cannot run over walls but it is still variable.
Teleport can help your teammate when in trouble by jumping between lanes as fast as lightning and it can also be used to gank. A reccomanded variable spell.
Heal If things ever go rough,what else to do but Heal?
Exhaust is for the slow before getting rylai's helping you get a easy first blood if used together with Ignite.


All the other summoner spells not mentioned are not variable to Akali such as Smite, Clarity and all the other support skills.

Items

Here, I will explain to you why i choose my item sequence.Firstly, We of course would like to start with our Boots for the extra mobility and 3 Health Potion for the extra sustain. However if you do not have enough runes or masteries to activate Twin Disciplines,you can always start with a Long Sword or a Amplifying Tome


Next,the first item you should get after recalling is Hextech Revolver.The best way to get it is to hopefully kill an enemy champion.Without the enemy around, you can easily farm and increase your creep scores and gold.

Which is the best boots for every game?



There is NO such thing as the best boots for every game.Its depends on the game you are playing.If there are heavy CC's in the enemy's team, such as Ashe, Karthus, Sion, Vayne, Garen, Ryze, Lux and Volibear. These are few of the champions with irretating CC's like Stun,Slience,Slow,Snare,and pushing you away.Then of course the best boots to get for the current game is Mercury's Treads.

If the enemy team have around one CC,then of course your best bet will be with the ever painful poking boots Sorcerer's Shoes.


Try to continue farming and if your bottom or top lane is being pushed, DO NOT BE AFRAID TO LEAVE THE LANE AND GANK. Even if you might lose some creep score,you might get a kill which is worth 10 creeps.This will greatly aid you in getting your Giant's Belt for the extra tankiness to stay longer in lane.After getting Giant's Belt, keep farming to get your Blasting Wand followed by Rylai's Crystal Scepter.


You should snowball no problem with your slow, enemy champions are gonna have a hard time escaping Akali. Continue farming until you can get your Sheen which helps a great deal with your normal attack on top of your passive's Twin Disciplines bonus magic damage.


Its should be Mid Game by now and you are getting lots of kills and hopefully not too many deaths.With that much kills you should have no problem getting a Needlessly Large Rod.
Continue owning the game and farm another 2000 gold to build it into the ever deadly Rabadon's Deathcap


By now, the mid game phrase should be ending and usually by this time, you would either have won or they have surrendered.If not continue to show them no mercy in late game by building your Sheen into Lich Bane.This item synergise very well with Mark of the Assassin.If you normal attack when marked,you will deal an unbelievable amount of damage with only a single skill.So go ahead and keep killing those enemy and show them no mercy. Start finishing your Hextech Gunblade by getting Bilgewater Cutlass.The additional lifesteal will provide even more sustain with the extra ranged slow from the Hextech Gunblade will help if the enemy somehow managed to escape Rylai's Crystal Scepter's slow.

OMGWTFBBQ,THE GAME HAVE NOT ENDED YET??Well its proberly because you are getting destroyed late game with those hardcore ADC like Vayne, Caitlyn, Ashe, Master Yi.Well then the only thing left is Zhonya's Hourglass.Dash into the middle of the teamfight, use your Zhonya's Hourglass and wait for your team to weaken them before going in for the kill.

Another variable option will be Banshee's Veil.When their team are very AP focused, this particlar item will be their bane.This item works great on almost all AP champions.
With your final item ready,the game should end quite fast with either your team destroying theirs or they destroy you.Good Luck.
