I always ban Akali. Her smokecloud and high mobility makes trading against her near impossible.
Darius
I have not yet found a Darius, who still couldn't wipe your team, even if you put him behind. Your stun doesn't cancel his R, and Rappel just puts it on a 1,5 sec CD. Build Hullbreaker first item seems to work best for me, and then kite and stay out of his E range.
Garen
Braindead dumb champ which kit is very strong against you. His R can't be dodged, it will just be put on 1,5 sec CD. With the meta being Stridebreaker and with his Flash + Q he can all-in you while you are stuck in human form. Tenacity runes for his Silence and slow. Hullbreaker into either sustain or Wits End for the movement speed to pick the good fights. Most Garen players go top with Ignite and Flash, and stay top through out most of the game, so you should try and look at topside jungle or mid for ganks to get ahead when you have pushed wave back, but his wave clears in mid game are too fast for any roams.
Riven
There is a big gap between Riven players. A lot are not used to play against Elise. If you dodge her stun or knock up you can win fights if you are equal in terms of score.
Nasus
Even if you can beat Nasus early, you need to keep the pressure. Force jungle ganks on you and have your jungle do objectives or help top. Nasus will eventually stack and become a problem, so rely on your CC and teamfights. I have no solution in case of perma top Nasus and you are behind.
Gnar
Without his R it is almost a mirror match. He will probably rush Wits End countering your magic damage, but with your hybrid damage build without his R, most fights are in your favor.
Yone
The second wind-****ter is all about knowing his openings. Like when he has used E, or full Q. In terms of dealing with his sustain, buy Oblivion Orb early.
Volibear
Relatively easy matchup. The default build is enough.
Gangplank
Your human form have a quick auto attack missile to clear his barrels. Your stun is back up before his clear. In Spiderform all-ins your sustain and damage can almost let you bash your forehead into the keyboard and win. Default build is sufficient, but you can experiment with options.
Tryndamere
Easy matchup. Your Rappel counters his R. Wait it out until he tried to move away then go down on top of him and Q him. I like to experiment with optional builds in this matchup, but Sheen into Hullbreaker is safe.
Zyra
I dodge most of the time. Whether she is support, mid or even top. Her snare rooting you instills "silence" on your spider Q, since it is a dash, and Rappel E . Her plant pokes with Liandries out ranges you.
Fiora
A Fiora can be widely different depending on the player. I would suggest taking Exhaust when vs her to keep her from snowballing in teamfights.
Illaoi
Her E can be "predicted" and dodged with Rappel. The major problem with Illaoi is her snowballing. She can turn ganks when she hit level 6 and Hullbreaker. Get Oblivion Orb and stay ahead. She will likely settle for splitpushing toplane, so use your mobility to clear jungle or look for ganks mid.
Kayle
Kayle is sort of like Tryndamere with her R being waited out with Rappel. But because she is ranged, you can't poke and punish her as much. Plus with her R powerspikes at level 11 and 16 makes it so she can bounce back. Make sure Cocoon lands and either with team or burst you can take her down.
Malphite
His pokes is better than yours, he even gets a speed boost. And his shielding makes trading a pain in the butt. Wits End first buy, and watch out for his R all ins.
Shen
Blocking auto attacks is a big problem, when majority of your damage comes from Spiderform. Relying on AP build with some durability or sustain seems to work the best for me.
Ornn
Trade his wall knock with your rappel and stick to him. With Liandries the duels are heavily in your favor.
Illaoi
Like many top bruisers they can quickly get out of hand, but early when you dodge or she misses E, you capitalize on it and trade her down maybe even secure kill. I build Liandries, since she generally build high HP and building HP yourself will not negate her % dmg.
Mordekaiser
Mordekaiser has a kit that forces short trading with him. He is expensive to build against if behind, since his sustain and shield has to be countered with two items. Let him push wave to your tower, farm close or under said tower and set up for ganks to get ahead of him.
This is my guide for Elise toplane bruiser. It not something new, but still you get people underestimating the potential of putting a strong aggro jungler in a solo lane.
