Introduction
This is where I usually play him, but 5v5 works too. We'll get to that soon. You should always solo top because you are a carry and you rape. Your first skill always depends on the enemy champion you are facing. If you are facing someone like
Tryndamere, then you get your
Counter Strike. You get this so you can dodge his attacks and stun him back and rape! If you are laning against a mage like
Annie, then you should probably get W or Q whatever you feel like. I recommend you to stay in the bush until level 2 when you get your
Leap Strike and your
Empower to harass. Try to attack minions until you get a stun
Counter Strike up and then charge, leap, stun!
Empower
Leap Strike
Counter Strike . If they run away and is about to die, you
Ignite them. If they're not in range, you can
Flash,
Empower Leap Strike] again and use [[Ignite if they don't die. Just play like this and you'll rape the opposite team.

I usually solo mid with Jax. It's not funny lol. It's true. He has an excellent damage at lvl 2 with his
Empower and
Leap Strike and he would easily beat a champion like
Ashe. You do the same thing,
Empower and
Leap Strike .
Hextech Gunblade is the most important item of playing Jax in 5v5. Such big map makes it hard for Jax to chase people down sometimes. Well, there's something called
Hextech Gunblade!

Jax is a better laner than a jungler in my opinion, but if have to, you can. All you need to change is ur Masteries to 12/9/9. You skill combo is E,W,Q,Q and the rest is the same. You start at blue golem and start attacking the big guy. Everytime your
Counter Strike comes up you use it and stun. You move to wolves, wraiths, lizard, and two golems. Then you may go back and buy boots and heal up. It's pretty much the same build and stuff so you don't have to worry about this and that.

I will explain the items I would use for Jax.
I start off with a
Boots and 3x
Health Potion because I can have great movement with it which helps me harass my enemy down.
I then build this into a
Ninja Tabi. Dodge helps his
Counter Strike work better. Duh
Vampiric Scepter - This is probably a part you guys don't really get. " Why get a Guinsoos Rageblade first and then get it for a Gunblade? "" I get this early because it helps him stay in lane long and once he gets level 6, his attack speed can increase and he can easily 1v1 if he has lifesteal to be durable.
Guinsoo's Rageblade - The more you attack, the more attack speed and ability power you get. Ver similar to his
Relentless Assault. This is like an item that is made for Jax. It has a combination of attack damage and ability power. Awesome right?
Hextech Gunblade - Its active has a 300 damage blast AND a 50% slow for 3 seconds which has a huge range. Again, a comination of attack damage and ability power. But this time, even something more better! Spell vamp and Lifesteal! O M G Jax has awesome attack speed - and this item has attack damage and lifesteal. Jax's high damage skills - this item has ability power and spell vamp. Cool.........
Trinity Force - For a hybrid, this item is very nice. I get
Phage first for the health and damage + the extra slow. Then, I get an
Amplifying Tome - but not
Sheen yet. A
Zeal for movement speed and attack speed. And THEN I build
Sheen because Jax doesn't really need the proc. Then finally
Trinity Force itself.
Banshee's Veil - Would always get this because the other team should always have a crowd controll ability and they should always have a mage, unless they're so ******ed that they have 3 or 5 DPS. Even if it's all DPS, they still might have some magic damage in them and also have skills to cast. The passive is really nice and yeah.
Last items :
Heavy AD team -
Thornmail,
Sunfire Aegis,
Guardian Angel, or
Frozen Heart
Heavy AP team -
Force of Nature,
Guardian Angel,
Quicksilver Sash, or
Wit's End
Mixture of AD and AP -
Guardian Angel
More Damage -
Madred's Bloodrazor,
Black Cleaver,
Phantom Dancer,
Infinity Edge,or
Wit's End
Remember if you get really far in a game, pot up
Elixir of Fortitude,
Elixir of Agility, and
Elixir of Brilliance.
If you're at super super super late game and you have like over 15k gold left LOL.
Sell all your items and get these :
If you want to be AD : 3x
Phantom Dancer,
Infinity Edge,
Hextech Gunblade or
Bloodthirster, and
Black Cleaver or
Last Whisper. In my opinion, any champion that can deal magic damage with their abilities should use
Hextech Gunblade instead of
Bloodthirster.
Hextech Gunblade has extra slow, better damage, lifesteal and spell vamp. and ability power even if you don't need.
If you want to be Hybridish : 3x Phantom Dancers,
Hextech Gunblade,
Infinity Edge, and
Guinsoo's Rageblade
I would not recommend you to be AP though, but you can do this :
Ninja Tabi, Mercury Treads,
Boots of Swiftness, or Sorcerrer's Boots ,
Deathfire Grasp ,
Hextech Gunblade,
Rabadon's Deathcap,
Lich Bane, and
Abyssal Mask or
Zhonya's Hourglass depending if you're going against more AP or AD.
Jungle Jax -
Cloth Armor and 5
Health Potion and then it's the same item build.
I start off with a

Jungle Jax -

I go 21/9/0 for Jax. If you want to be more on the utility side instead of having more damage, you can go 0/9/21.
I put 21 on offense for extra damage.
9 on defense for the dodge proc.
If you're going utility, you can have lower cool downs on your spells and abilities. Longer buffs, mana regain, extra experience, etc.

I usually get armor penetration marks, dodge seals, magic resist per level glyphs, and movement speed quintessences.
Armor penetration marks can always be switched with magic penetration marks. Magic penetration helps you excel at early game when you always
Empower and
Leap Strike. But if you do this, you will fall a little bit in late game because you're actually a DPS.
Dodge seals because Jax has dodge and this will make him dodge more? Lol
Magic resist per level glyphs so he can have more survivability against mages at late game.
Movement speed quintessences so he can be a speedy ninja assassin to hunt down people and whack them.

I normally go with
Flash and
Ignite
As I have mentioned,
Flash helps get an extra leap and
Ignite helps taking down someone if they are running away
Other spells you can get are :
Exhaust for reducing the enemy's damage if they are bursts
Ghost in the replacement of
Flash
Cleanse if they are like
Sion
Taric
Nunu & Willump with so much CC
Smite if you decide to jungle Jax

Overall, it's really easy to play Jax. You just need to know when to initiate and back off without dying. He's a really really really fun champ when you dominate and own with him, so - yeah.
Here's a tip and a spear behind it LOL just kidding: Always have a Sight ward or two with you so you can easily escape. If you're on one side of a wall and you want to go to the other side immediately you can put a Sight ward there and jump over with your
Leap Strike.
