Ability Explanation
Ability explanations for Kayn are shown here:

Code:
Kayn's passive, The Darkin Scythe is used to transform Kayn into either Shadow Assassin or The Darkin. Kayn gains orbs which contribute to the transformation by either attacking ranged champions or melee champions. Once you have transformed your abilities will be stronger. When you have decided what form to take you cannot revert it.
Red Darkin Scythe heals Kayn based on the amount of damage he does to champions with his abilities.
Blue Darkin Scythe gives Kayn a bonus magic damage buff on all attacks for 3 seconds after being out of combat for 8 seconds (The 8 seconds is reset after Kayn casts his ultimate, Umbral Trespass).

Max Kayn's Q, Reaping Slash first as it deals plenty of damage on both Red and Blue Kayn. Combine Reaping Slash with Flash to get some extra range. Try and hit enemies with both the dash and the circular attack for the most damage. This ability deals bonus damage to minions and monsters, making it great for quick jungle waveclearing.
Red Reaping Slash deals bonus damage based on its target's maximum HP. COMPLICATED VERSION: 55% AD (+ 5% (+ 4% per 100 bonus AD) of the target's maximum health) physical damage

Max Kayn's W, Blade's Reach next as it is a good source of range and slows to either chase or outrun an enemy champion. Be careful using this move as you are forced to stand still while casting.
Red Blade's Reach knocks enemies hit airborne and slows them once they land.
Blue Blade's Reach allows Kayn to move and has extra range.

Max Kayn's E, Shadow Step last because it doesn't have as much use as his Q and W. Walking through walls speeds you up and heals you when you enter and extends the duration of the ability, if used while in combat the ability is stopped early.
Blue Shadow Step speeds Kayn up even more and causes him to be immune to slows.

Kayn's ultimate, Umbral Trespass is a fantastic engage tool, disengage tool, tower diver and is great for damage output. You can cast this ability on an enemy champion after you have hit them once. When you cast it you go untargetable and after a few seconds slash out of the enemies body (Can be recast early). This is great if you are in a teamfight and need to pick enemies off or you just want to keep safe as long as possible.
Red Umbral Trespass causes Kayn to deal bonus max health damage to his targets and heal for a percentage of their maximum HP. COMPLICATED VERSION: 10% (+ 13% per 100 bonus AD) of the target's maximum health as physical damage and heals him for 7%(+ 9.1% per 100 bonus AD) of target's maximum health.
Blue Umbral Trespass gives Kayn bonus range on the initial cast and the recast of the ability.
Jungle Path
Now I'm going to explain the jungle path for Kayn depending on which team you are on.

Blue team:
Start at Red Brambleback and get a leash from your ADC and support. Make sure you stand in the Red pit bush so you can see if an enemy ward is being placed in the bush or in the pit. DO NOT USE Smite ON THE RED BUFF UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. Move on to the Raptor camp and make sure you still don't use smite. Utilise your Q and W with some good spacing to take out the Raptors quickly. Try to avoid using potions in the botside jungle. Once Raptors are done move to topside wolves but make sure to try and keep your Smite so you can easily take out the heavily armoured Blue Sentinel. After you have blue move on to Gromp, saving your second charge of Smite for the topside Rift Scuttler. If you cleared the jungle fast enough you should have gotten to the topside scuttler before it even spawns. Once you have defeated the scuttler start ganking either top or mid. Getting kills early is helpful but for now you want to aim for dealing more damage and hitting enemies consecutively for more Darkin Scythe orbs. After you've reached level 4 start ganking more and farming. Try to kill an early Dragon as soon as possible and try to secure a Rift Herald.

Red Team:
Start at Blue Sentinel and make sure you get a good leash from your botlane. Blue counters Kayn because of its high armour stat. Try not to Smite the blue buff. Move to Wolves, still keeping smite, and then to Raptors. After Raptors, take red buff then move on to Krugs and Rift Scuttler. If you haven't used smite then now is the best chance. Start ganking top, mid and going for botside farm and dragons.
Determining your form
Choosing what form to take on Kayn is always a tough decision, that is unless you know how the forms work. Basically you want to figure out what form to take during the loading screen of the game.

If you can see that they have a very tanky teamcomp (Dr. Mundo, Volibear, Galio, Ezreal and Nautilus) with barely any squishy champions then Darkin will help you in that situation. Since all of your abilities heal you from the damage you deal and your Q and R deal health percent damage you would counter them by not only dealing so much damage to them but also staying alive by healing from them.

If the enemy team consists of champions who take damage as easily as they deal it (Quinn, Rengar, Lux, Jhin, Sona) then Shadow Assassin is the move so you can deal loads of damage very quickly and get plenty of kills. Your abilities will be doing huge amounts of damage to squishy champions like them, even if they build armour you still have the bonus magic damage every 8 seconds with a reset from your ult.
Conclusion
I hope this Kayn guide helps all of those aspiring to become Kayn mains! He is a very basic champion and a great jungler to start off with. Please leave a vote on my guide if it helped you in any way. Thanks for reading!
