All Ap Damage Type champions are always SHINE with our Full Magic Penetration builds, of course Lillia is a special case, her kit and especially her passive Dream-Laden Bough while make this build reach to an INSANELY NEW LEVELS, you will be literally melt everyone, no matter the range cause of how the no range E Swirlseed works together with your Lilting Lullaby that can be activated from the other side of the map cause of it!

But to understand what Magic Penetration offering you, you need to actually read some in-game stats and then realize why this stat is the most important to have in this game, but not while buying it BLINDLY (just stack it and expect to work) but to buy each item with the order that we will explain here, only by this you will have the best results possible and win all of your games easily!

Magic Penetration: Magic penetration is a champion statistic which allows the magic damage done from their abilities, enhanced attacks, etc. to ignore some or all of a target's magic resistance.

Lets have an example for you to understand and compare the damage to the target WITH and WITHOUT Magic Penetration!
Lets say you have a Target with 100 Magic Resist and 3000 HP
Our Full build ( Void Staff Morellonomicon Sorcerer's Shoes) giving you 48 Flat and 40% Magic Penetration while having 400+AP
No Magic Pen Example:
Lets say that your skill is saying that its doing 1000 total damage, the number that you are reading on the skill is not the actual damage that you will do on the target, the 1000 damage will be reduced by 50% cause of the 100 Magic Resist of the target, so that means your actual damage from that skill will be 500!
With our Full Magic Pen build:
Your skill still doing 1000 total damage, but now cause of your Magic Penetration the target will have REDUCED RESISTANCES, lets see how you are calculating it to realize the actual damage, first you calculating the % magic pen resistances and then the flat number and they you are calculating how much "damage reduction" will do from the remaining magic resistance!
100 Mr - 40%(Percent Magic Pen) = 60 MR - 48 Flat Magic Pen = 12 Remaining Magic Resist of the target, this 12 MR means that the target will reduce only the 11% of the damage from your skills (Instead of 50% that it was with 100 MR)
that means the 1000 damage skill will now do *890 DAMAGE* instead of *500 DAMAGE*

Now, if the target got lower than 60 MAGIC RESIST (common for the ranged champions) cause of your FULL MAGIC PEN you will do to the target BONUS DAMAGE
you heard that right, the target can go BELOW 0 Magic resist and you can actually do BONUS DAMAGE(instead of true damage) to the target, so a target with 60 Magic resist cause of your magic pen will be remain with -3 Magic Resist that means that you will do around 3-4% bonus damage, that means from the 1000 damage skill the target will receive 1030-1040 DAMAGE

Now that you can understand how this works, calculate it to ANY SOURCE OF MAGIC DAMAGE YOU WILL DO, that means, runes, skills, items and dragon buffs, everything will do to the targets close to TRUE or even at some cases BONUS DAMAGE to the targets and make you a total monster!

Lillia Cause of her Passive-Q-W-E-R will do non-stop magic damage with very low CD, that means that you will maximize that damage and multiply it even further cause of the power of Full Magic Penetration, the strongest stat in the game for the AP-Type champions!

In the different build versions that you can see above, we are having the differnt build ways of how to play this champion, read the "notes" for more information about the specific build version!
All Full Build version will give you the following stats 300+ AP, 3000-3800HP, 40% CDR, 33+ | 40% Magic Pen and the ability to do an insane burn damage to ALL the enemy team and to heal from it cause of Ravenous Hunter


Now that we finished explaining how and why Full Magic Pen is the way, its time to understand how her skills works!

Before we continue with the detailed explaination of runes-items we need first to fully understand the ABILITIES of Lillia and how to use them in order to maximize our impact!


Passive - Dream-Laden Bough Dream-Laden Bough
Lillia abilities apply Dream Dust, dealing a % of the target's maximum health as magic damage over a duration. This passive can be applied from any of your skills from ANY RANGE, that means that with your E Swirlseed you can apply the effect from this plus of course all of your runes and items effects from the other side of the MAP!


Q - Blooming Blows Blooming Blows
Lillia swings her branch in the air and deals magic damage to nearby enemies, dealing true damage to those at the outer edge of the circle. Lillia gains stacking movement speed whenever she hits a target with a skill!
This skills is just like Darius Q when you are hitting the targets at the edge of the skill you will add the same amount from it as TRUE DAMAGE as well, so you are doing double damage, one as magic and another as true damage and not only that but you also of course apply the passive effect (together with items, runes etc.) and also gaining movement speed bonus, making the enemies unable to escape or reach you!


W - Watch Out! Eep! Watch Out! Eep!
Lillia winds up for a huge strike with her branch, dealing magic damage to enemies. Enemies at the center of the impact receive more damage.
Insane magic burst AOE magic damage and triple of that amount at the center, no matter how powerful they are, the damage that you can do with this skill as long as you aim it right is INCREDIBLE HIGH!


E - Swirlseed Swirlseed
Lillia lobs a Swirlseed overhead, dealing magic damage to enemies and slowing them for a duration. If Lillia's Swirlseed misses, it'll continue to roll until it hits an enemy or collides with terrain.
An incredible powerful tool, no range limit, that means you can hit your Swirlseed from top lane to bot lane as long as you are not going to hit any target while traveling towards bot lane and that also means that you will activate your R Lilting Lullaby and of course your passive Dream-Laden Bough and items-runes from literally the OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP, to gank any lane is not a problem as long as you can aim good! But it can also be used to poke and destroy your lane targets as well, or even if you are a jungler to gank from any side you choose!


R - Lilting Lullaby Lilting Lullaby
Lillia casts a lullaby over her enemies and those affected by her passive Dream Dust become increasingly slowed before falling asleep for a duration of time. When awakened by damage, enemies will take additional magic damage.
One of the most POWERFUL skills that exist in the game, you can activate this effect to the entire enemy team from any range and let you and your teammates reach the target before "wake them up" with EVEN MORE DAMAGE!

The reason our Full Magic Penetration build is so powerful, is cause of how this champion works, Lillia will be the most game breaking champion that will exist from now on and I am not sure that any of the "nerfs" will even effect her, at least with our build there is not even a CHANCE for her to lose her power!
Lets now continue with the runes and why these runes will make her to be SO INSANELY POWERFUL!

Lets talk about the runes that will maximize the damage and potential of Lillia while using the power of a certain combination of runes!

We will always, but ALWAYS use these runes cause of reasons you will understand right now:

Arcane Comet The STRONGEST Rune that you can possible play in this game for Lillia and cause of how her skills works!
Effect: Damaging an enemy champion with an ability hurls an Arcane Comet at their current location, dealing 30 − 100 (based on level) (+ 35% bonus AD) (+ 20% AP) magic damage after a brief delay with 8 SECONDS RUNE CD
Damaging enemy champions with an ability reduces the remaining cooldown.
Single target: 20%
Area of effect / Bouncing Blade Multi-hit : 10% per enemy hit
Damage over time: 5%
That means you will literally reduce its CD and use it again and again NON-STOP, even your passive is going to reduce its CD, plus of course your Q-W-E-R, that means in full late game, the CD of this rune with a simple combo just as E-W-Q will be ZERO SECONDS, yeah, you heard that right, zero seconds CD for arcane comet, that means you will do 100 + 20% of your AP dmg every single second that you using your skills!

Manaflow Band Extra 250 mana plus mana regain, one of the most important runes for our Lillia while playing as a laner, it will secure letting you spam your skills as long as you want from early to full late game by combining it with our 3x Doran's Ring
If you are playing as jungler, then ALWAYS go for Nimbus Cloak this rune will give you bonus movement speed while using your summoner's spells, as jungler and while playing with the BLUE SMITE that means ALL THE TIME, you will have double movement speed from both your blue smite and the rune, making it impossible for them to escape, or for you to easily escape!

Transcendence 10% Bonus CDR plus bonus AP for each over the limit %CDR, this is the rune that will be playing, super powerful cause it will give you the max %CDR as possible, but also cause you will have bonus AP while having over the limit CDR, with our full build you will gain from this rune 20 AP to 40 AP if you secure a blue buff!
Absolute Focus Bonus 30 AP each time you are above 70% (most of the times) a perfect rune to give you the damage that you need from early to late game!

Scorch This might be one of the MOST IMPORTANT runes together with Cheap Shot
after 1 second you will damage your enemies with 15 − 35 (based on level) bonus magic damage, that means, that you will prolong the Liandry's Torment effect by at least 2 more seconds, that means more %HP burn damage and also more time to have the 10% bonus damage while being in combat effect, making all of your skills and ESPECIALLY your passive to do an insanely big amount of damage

Cheap Shot Bonus true damage after using your CC, if you go for the build version with Rylai's Crystal Scepter then you will activate this BONUS TRUE DAMAGE with only 4 seconds CD non-stop, just by using your abilities!
Taste of Blood this is a more sustain rune, that will help you greatly survive and heal back lots of HP, especially late game that you will have more AP cause this rune scales with the AP that you got!

Ravenous Hunter 14% Spell vamp, an extra source of SUSTAIN by using your skills (all of them) you will receive a % of HEAL BACK, that will let you fight longer and outdamage any kind of enemy that will lane against you!!
That means you will heal back with an insane amount from your PASSIVE MAX% DMG plus of course the item effects-runes and especially liandy's torment

Second choice: Ultimate Hunter 25% R CDR, as we talked above, your R is a super powerful tool that can be used to multiple targets even on the entire enemy team, to have it all the time and especially with the cloud drakes that will reduce its CD even further, making you the most dangerous target that the enemy team SHOULD eliminate first in order for them to survive, cause you can activate your R from any range you want as long as you hit your E!!

Remember, cause of your Full Magic Pen that we talked about above you will do close to TRUE or even BONUS damage from your skills, RUNES and items as well, that means your [ARCANE COMET Scorch Dream-Laden Bough and Liandry's Torment will be doing an insanely big amount of damage and you will keep them and re-use them all THE TIME while fighting! Also last but not least the Liandry's Torment 10% bonus damage in combat will multiply your damage EVEN FURTHER!

Its time now to understand about our ITEM choices!!

Now that we fully understood how the RUNES-SKILLS works
lets start talking about the exact way to play our Full Magic Penetration Lillia build and the right build order of our style!
Remember to have the best possible results possible, you need to follow the EXACT item order as I will describe to you right now!!

You will always start with Doran's Ring and 2 Health Potion plus of course the ward! The reason we are not starting with Dark Seal and Refillable Potion is cause we need the extra HP that Doran's Ring you can play with BOTH if you want, you will have similar results! But cause Lillia is a little squishy early we will need Doran's Ring for better sustain, also the bonus damage on hit will help you last hit much easier if you dont want to spam your Q and waste mana!

Then at your first back you will buy 2 more Doran's Ring and a Refillable Potion the 3 dorans (or rings) as we talked before, the start items are super gold efficiency items, for example Donan's ring will give you what you need early with an insanely low cost, so with only 800 gold (plus the 1 from level 1) you will have the following stats:
45AP (Or 40 with Dark seal), 180 HP (Or 120), mana regain and damage to creeps
to understand fully why this way of playing is the BEST, you need to realize that each Doran's Ring is 200% gold efficiency that means each one giving you stats worth of total 800 gold (instead of 400 that its the actual cost) so just like this you will have stats (with 3 of them) that cost 2400 gold while you literally paid only 800 gold (plus the one Doran's Ring from level 1), is it just that? OF COURSE NOT, cause Doran's Ring is a started item you will sell it at some point (You will NEVER sell your first doran BEFORE THE 3RD ITEM, the rest will be remain till full late game)
so from the 400 gold that you spent to "Rent" the item early you will get back 160 gold, so the stats that we talked above costed only 240 gold each, making it BY FAR the best item to buy to secure being an insanely powerful lane monster early!
The reason we are always going to overpower our enemies is simply cause everything in this guide and all of our guides are CALCULATED with actual math to make you the strongest at each point of the game. From super early to full late game, the combo of our items-skills-gamestyle will make you an absolute monster!

But lets continue, the next item you will buy is Hextech Revolver a super powerful and low cost item, with only 1050 gold you will have 40 AP but also an active effect that most of people underestimate, not anymore, you will do 50 − 125 damage (based on level) that means while while you are doing your engage and hitting the target with your combo you will add to your hit the damage of Hextech Revolver as well, that means each 40 seconds you can do 50-125 damage and have an "Extra damage source" just like that!

Then we will buy Lost Chapter and we will finish the Sorcerer's Shoes till now you are not going to finish any item, you need to get these 3 at the following order Hextech Revolver into Sorcerer's Shoes into Lost Chapter
There is a reason we are doing it and this is to maximize our damage early as much as possible, all 3 of them will give you what you need, damage, mana sustain, extra AP and of course EXTRA MAGIC PENETRATION with your boots with the lowest cost possible!
With the combination of these 3 items, Lillia will be able to spam non-stop her skills while of course doing tons of damage, the 3 dorans will give you the HP that you need till you finish the next HP-Item that will be Hextech Rocketbelt, overall we are using the combination of AP-HP-MAGIC PEN to make Lillia do as much as possible while also staying alive all the time!!

After this, you will finish either Hextech Rocketbelt or Luden's Tempest the "or" thing is up the situation that you are playing against, for example if you dont have 1900 gold to buy the Luden's Tempest you will go for Hextech Rocketbelt always remember we are not selling our Doran's Ring we are going to keep them for as much time as possible and you will start selling them while going for the 3rd item core that is going to be the Liandry's Torment one of the most powerful items for our build item-skill-runes combo and always start with the part of Haunting Guise and only NOW you will sell the doran's ring in order to buy it!

So our next time will be Liandry's Torment an item that will give you MAX% HP dmg that will be combined with your Dream-Laden Bough and making the target melt almost instantly, both of these effects are doing MAX% HP magic damage, that means cause of the full magic pen build, these amounts will be close to TRUE or even at some cases TRUE DAMAGE!
To full understand how much damage this is, then check out this example:

if the target got 2000HP and 100 MR that we talked above, you will do from Liandry's Torment 7.5% of target's maximum health total dmg over 3 seconds, or 2.5 MAX HP DMG per SECOND, your Dream-Laden Bough will also do 5% max HP dmg over 3 seconds, that means 1.66 MAX% Hp dmg per second, if you combine the two together you will be doing 4.16% HP dmg per second, that means if the target got 2000 HP you will do to this target only from these 2 80+ DMG/SEC with total damage of 240 in 3 SECONDS, now imagine, that while you doing this amount of "burn damage" you will also apply the runes effects-item effects etc. and all that while also having the 10% BONUS DAMAGE passive from Liandry's Torment
An insane combo, that will make you a MONSTER!

The moment you will reach having all three of your items, Hextech Rocketbelt Luden's Tempest and Liandry's Torment you will be able to kill any target, be it a full tanky one or a squishy one, the reason of this is cause you will have 40% CDR cause of these items and runes, plus burst damage from Luden's Tempest, enough HP and of course the combo MAX HP DMG with your passive and liandrys!

Then after finishing Liandry's Torment you will sell one more doran's ring to buy the Void Staff this item will give you AP and 40% MAGIC PENETRATION as we detailed explained above, your Full Magic Penetration build is now finished, now your runes like Arcane Comet and Scorch and your skills Dream-Laden Bough Blooming Blows Watch Out! Eep! Swirlseed and Lilting Lullaby will now do PURE or even BONUS damage to low Magic Resist targets, making you literally unstoppable and the moment you will hit your Swirlseed from range to be able to activate your ultimate Lilting Lullaby reach the target (or targets) and kill them!


After this you will have some different item choices for Lillia that is up to you to decide what you need for each game:

Rylai's Crystal Scepter AP, HP and a slow effect that will be applied from your skills and runes to slow the target but ALSO make Liandry's Torment to do double damage, that is literally insane, cause you will be able to easily reach the targets after just hitting your E and cause of the passive the Liandry's Torment effect will be there for at least 2 more seconds, making it do more MAX %HP DAMAGE and slow the target or TARGETS!

Morellonomicon You will maximize your magic pen but also get AP, HP and GRIEVOUS WOUNDS effect to reduce the healing that your enemies will do!

Warmog's Armor Maximize your sustain greatly, one of the most gold efficiency items in the game, HP, CDR, HP REGAIN and most important FOUNTAIN HP regain out of combat that will let you be always in full HP! Warmog's Armor while being activated is 1000% GOLD EFFICIENCY, making the stats that it gives to worth at least 30000 gold, one of the most INSANE and POWERFUL items in the game that people think you are limited using it only on "tank" champions, with Lillia you already got an insane damage from your skills-runes-items that we talked above, so to go for a sustain version is the BEST WAY!

An item that can replace Luden's Tempest for a different build version is always going to be Abyssal Mask this item will give you HP, Mana, CDR, infinity amount of mana and the ability to heal while spamming your skills, of course the most important effect is the 15% Bonus Magic damage for you and your Allies, this amount will be combined with another 10% from Liandry's Torment the second effect from this item that people keep forgetting and make you reach 25% BONUS DAMAGE, now imagine, you already got 33 | 40% Magic penetration, burn effects that melting everyone and the ability to multiply this insane damage by 25%, this will literally make you a MONSTER and its a very good alter version of our Full Magic Pen build!


The full build will look like this:


Hextech Rocketbelt Luden's Tempest Liandry's Torment Void Staff Sorcerer's Shoes

And as last item one of these 3:

Warmog's Armor Rylai's Crystal Scepter Morellonomicon

Or if you want to play with the Alter Lillia build version then follow this build order
Hextech Rocketbelt -> Abyssal Mask -> Sorcerer's Shoes -> Liandry's Torment -> Void Staff -> Warmog's Armor

plus ALWAYS remember to buy Elixir of Sorcery for the extra AP, mana regain and TRUE Damage!!

In this game is super important on focusing on certain things, while playing with our style you need to ALWAYS follow them and remember to enjoy playing this game while playing with focus!
So lets talk about what you need to focus.

Creeps(FOCUS on FARM): The most important thing is to focus on your farm, you need to farm fast and if you can kill all the creeps without missing even one. This way you will take the lead from your enemy champion, dont be afraid to use your skills for last hits even at the 1 level, especially while Lillia can easily spam her Q with low mana cost and secure last hitting all the creeps!

Stay Alive: To not to die at lane and not have any kills is more worth than to be 3-3 or 4-4 with your enemy Lane champion.
Your build focusing to be the strongest at the MID-Late game, doesn't matter if you cant kill now, focus on farm and you will be able to show your true Strength at the right time of the game.

Hide & Seek Strategy: Cause of your Blooming Blows Watch Out! Eep! Swirlseed and Hextech Rocketbelt you have great tools to reach the target easily from INSIDE THE BUSHES, that wont let your enemies reach and kill them instantly, cause the moment you hit your E-W-Q together with the damage from the passive and the moment speed effect from your Q the target wont even have time to RUN away or even FIGHT you, cause if he try to do that, you can always activate your R and instantly reach him!


Now lets talk about some of Lillia combos that you can use and the others that you will see me using in our Youtube Videos and Streams!

The combos that you can do with Lillia are SIMPLE yet incredible powerful,
as we talked above her E is a tool that can be used for poking, ganking, or even engaging, the first combo is to start the fight with your E from range, if you hit it, move towards the target and if he is too far away to start using your Q-W then start with your R, apply the CC and go close to the target, start with W while aiming for the center of the skill to MAXIMIZE YOUR DAMAGE and then use your Q to apply the true damage-movement speed bonus to you, then if the target is alive you will keep chasing him while using your Q non-stop, the CD of the Q is so low that no matter what the enemy will use, he will still die no matter how good he is!

The next combo is simply just by starting the fight by continuously using your Q to apply true damage also to stack movement speed bonus up to 5 times, after using it 2-3 times you will see that his HP will go easily below 50% cause of how your PASSIVE and the combination of your RUNES-ITEMS works, then what you need to do is to press R to sleep the target, go close to him use your W and then Q and E if he try to escape or should I say if there is anything there to escape! The TRUE DAMAGE that you doing is going to be so big cause of the FULL MAGIC PENETRATION build that there wont be anything there to fight back and if you decide to play with Ravenous Hunter from all the damage that you are doing you will also receive heal back, making it IMPOSSIBLE for you to die, no matter what. If you simply cant handle the fight, cause of the movement speed bonus with your Q and a flash (or even without it) you can simply just RUN away and they wont reach you!

So remember the most important thing in this game is FARMING and to STAY ALIVE to overpower and kill them all will come as long as you focusing on these two things! Our Full Magic Penetration Lillia build will always be the strongest from early to full late game, no matter how bad you play early, clear all the waves, something pretty easy cause of your Q-W, get your gold that you need, use your E-R no range combo to help MID or even BOT to get some assists/kills, play with focus and you will always end up VICTORIOUS! Our different Lillia match ups below will show you how to play this champion and WIN even while being super behind!
