Champion Build Guide

DISCLAIMER: I MADE THIS GUIDE FOR THE TANK UDYR WITH AP BUILD BUT NOW I THINK AD ONESHOT IS BETTER SO I MADE THE PRIMARY BUILD THE AD ONESHOT BUILD - But I will keep the description for the tank AP build because it is also very good and a lot of the notes apply - I will tag my video explaining AD Udyr to this guide.

Hey guys welcome to my challenger Udyr guide. I'm a challenger player and Pro player from OCE. I started playing Udyr in Season 12 as his rework made him look fun.

I'll list some of my achievements as a player :)
  • Rank 8 OCE
  • MSI 2021 - Pentanet
  • Pro Player for 3 Years
  • High Mechanical Champ Pool
  • Played on the worlds stage - Korea 2018 - Direwolves Jungler

So...if you want to see how I do it...come check out the stream if you haven't already! I'm still improving my Udyr every day so check it out :) - - I also upload videos to my YouTube from time to time! -

This is a new chapter to my guide and I think it's the most important one.

Udyr is a very versatile champion. He can be played for any sitaution. The way to play Udyr is to be permanently checking your lanes. I usually start red or blue and full clear to hit level 4, but while full clearing you should be checking your lanes.If your laners are taking heavy trades it means the enemy jungler will have an opportunity to gank them, but since Udyr is weak in the early game you must use your pings to communicate with your team to stop trading and respect ganks. When i path as Udyr I aim to play around my strong lanes as they can help me get through my weak early game and scale into late game. I will use my early laners pressure to secure objectives since Udyr has incredibly high single target DPS with his Wilding Claw awaken attack.

Udyr is about fighting with his Wingborne Storm awakened attack, look to poke using this ability before fights start as you can wait for your passive to time out and get another proc of your Bridge Between passive

Ways to stall these fights out is by using your Blazing Stampede to bait out abilities with your hig movespeed which will delay the engage of your opponents. This also combines very well with your Iron Mantle as it will absorb critical damage from the enemy and distribute it away from your teammates.

I take Conqueror because most games I build a lot of hp stats such as Sunfire Aegis on Udyr which means I am able to land a lot of autos and stack up my damage with my autos and procs of damage from my Wingborne Storm. In extended fights Conqueror is superior to most runes, but if you're against many squishy champions you can also choose Phase Rush for more kiting potential.

Triumph is great for healing and in teamfights your Wingborne Storm Awaken makes sure you get an assist on all kills. Legend: Tenacity is my rune of choice because it allows me to avoid large amounts of CC since Udyr's goal in the game is to be annoying and do chip damage to the enemy over time. Last Stand Allows you to fight till the end and do increasing damage while remaining on the edge of your health bar.

For my secondary runes I like to take Resolve as I like the tank stats from Conditioning because it gives me bonus stats to scale even harder into the late game and become a raid boss of damage and tank stats. Overgrowth pairs nicely second since it gives us bonus HP adding to the great wall of tanking power which we already possess.

My plan for every game I play on Udyr is to be passive early - we have insane scaling and are weak in the early game so most of our skirmishes will be lost and our early gank power doesn't shine until we have all our abilities at level 4. So I am to powerfarm and beat my enemy by securing objectives or counterganking them when they make over aggressive ganks.

If you have weak really weak laners like Kassadin you must be extra careful when showing on the map as Udyr since it can lead to you losing lots of pressure from invades and potential objecitve losses such as dragon so value being hidden and not showing on vision sicne your weak laners can't help you.

**Powerfarming early game**

Powerfarming in season 12 is very valuable as killing your cammps puts them on cooldown which then makes them more valuable on their next respawn, so if you farm more camps than your opponent does they will get further behind if they're not able to gain equal gold and XP from taking objectives and getting good ganks off.

Below are a list of champions you are happy to play against, and can pressure if you have strong laners.
Master Yi

What commonalities can you guys see in that list? I can see a few to be honest...
-> Tanks
-> Farm heavy
-> Slow clear
-> Weak 1v1

Generally, if the enemy jungler is/has at least one commonality listed above then we definitely want to be using your strong laners to take objectives or steal away camps when possible.

Some tips for early pathing:
Most junglers start bot side of the map for an easier leash, especially in lower elo, so you guys can easily predict where the enemy jungler is starting and look to path in a way that protects you as the weak Udyr or if you have a strong laner like Darius you can exploit that to invade them. In the case where you have a strong top laner: if they start bot side of the map we want to invade them in their top side at their second buff. Now the champions above will be on their second buff from anywhere between 2.30-3.10ish depending on if they want to hit level 3 as soon as they can or if they full clear.

As you may have noticed, some champions are not on that list, and these include:

-> Elise
-> Ezreal
-> Graves
-> Jarvan IV
-> Kindred
-> Lee Sin
-> Nocturne
-> Rek'Sai
-> Udyr
-> Warwick
-> Xin Zhao

Again, what do these champions share in common?
-> Strong duelers
-> Fast clear

The junglers just mentioned are to be avoided at all cost. Even if you have a strong laner Udyr is so individually weak early you will lose invades and potentially get 2v1s. If you guys aren't comfortable with taking on these guys earlier in the game there's nothing to be ashamed of - and trust me, when I started out playing Evelynn and getting invaded every game it wouldn't be uncommon to see me 0-3 at 5 minutes. It takes time to learn how to avoid these champions but with practice you will learn ways to survive.

For champions like Elise, Lee Sin, Rek'Sai, their clear is insanely quick. Normally they will start bot side of the map, clear one other camp and finish their 2nd buff and then pressure that side of the map so we must try get early wards level 1 to track their clear. This will allow you to survive much more easily and sacrifice camps that might be dangerous to play for.

Those champions in the second list, most of them at least, will get their 2 buffs and level 3 as soon as possible and gank a lane. So always ping your laners and ward when it is possible. Ping your laners also if you need help, pull your support out of lane and use them to your advantage in early invade situations.

Mentality is a key part of being a professional player wether you want to be a soloqueue player, amateur player, platinum player any type of player having good mentality will always better you. Ways to improve on these can include focusing on the external parts of your life. Things I did was only play a maximum of 6 games per day, eat only healthy food and worked out every second day. My schedule and life was incredibly strict around performance when I was a professional player and I recommend all people who love the game to also take care of themselves.

Sleep deprivation can easily disrupt concentration, not to mention other cognitive functions, such as memory and attention.

Occasional sleep deprivation may not cause too many problems for you. But regularly failing to get a good night’s sleep can affect your mood and performance at work.

Being too tired can even slow down your reflexes and affect your ability to drive or do other daily tasks.

A demanding schedule, health issues, and other factors sometimes make it difficult to get enough sleep. But it’s important to try and get as close to the recommended amount as possible on most nights.

Many experts recommend adults aim for 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.

Improving the sleep you do get can also have benefit. A few quick tips:

Turn off the TV and put away screens an hour before bed.
Keep your room at a comfortable but cool temperature.
Wind down before bed with soft music, a warm bath, or a book.
Go to bed and get up around the same time each day, even on weekends.
Exercise regularly, but try to avoid a heavy workout just before bed.

How can taking a break from work or homework increase your concentration? This idea might seem counterintuitive, but experts say it really works.

Consider this scenario: You’ve spent a few hours on the same project, and suddenly your attention starts to wander. Even though it’s hard to keep your mind on the task, you stay at your desk, forcing yourself to keep going. But your struggle to focus just makes you feel stressed and anxious about not completing your work in time.

You’ve probably been there before. Next time this happens, when you first feel your concentration drop, take a short mental break. Refresh yourself with a cool drink or nutritious snack, take a quick walk, or go outside and get some sun.

When you return to soloqueue, don’t be surprised if you feel more focused, motivated, or even creative. Breaks can help boost these functions and more.
