Do you think that Kayle is better as a mid laner than a top laner now?
qasddsa (17) | September 5, 2019 11:44am
No, I believe that they are about equal in strength when talking about most ranks, with Top coming slightly ahead. In my opinion, Top lane is still a better lane for Kayle because with the loss of waves at 6, she has gained range in exchange. This is a big deal because, outside of being able to do more in lane, you have the ability to control the wave now with your range advantage. Before, you were basically forced to auto-push minion waves during levels 6-10 because of waves, which could put you in dangerous situations.

Now, on the other hand, Mid Lane becomes more and more important in general as your rank increases, as having priority and pressure Mid gives you more opportunities to roam with your Jungler, to deny enemy pressure, and to just influence the map more than Top.

Because of this, junglers tend to focus Mid a lot more than Top as that gives them access to both sides of the map, which means that the likelihood of you being ganked and/or camped by the enemy jungler increases, while the same holds true for your own jungler to gank or camp you.

The loss of waveclear at 6 hurts both lanes, but I believe it hurts Mid more than it hurts Top because waveclear is a really important tool to have when playing Mid as it gives you the ability to pressure outside of lane.

tl;dr: Yes and no - Mid requires more jungle attention from both sides which can affect you negatively and positively. While in Top Lane, with range at 6, you can control waves more easily thus easing a little pressure off your team.

Personally, I prefer Kayle top over mid.

Riven matchup is rip. Basically all you can do is cry for jungler and try not to int. By the way, I have a question, how do you get in a situation (except ganks) when you can fully use PTA or LT to win trades? 90% of toplaners are able to outtrade me before 11 (I usually get kills by baiting them with ulti and turret pre-11) Most times I find best to use klepto and just proc it to get rich or I take Fleetfoot if the enemy is Teemo or Yasuo or someone who can deny my E proc.

I utilize the level 2 advantage that Kayle has to chunk out the enemy - I achieve this by getting a minion lead at level 1 which helps me get level 2 before the enemy. With level 2, you can actually run down many top laners before they reach level 2 with the execute on Starfire Spellblade and Radiant Blast + Press the Attack.

Outside of this, there are actually a lot of situations where you can get the full 3 hits off on PtA - for example, if it's pre-6 and you're being chased, you can use auto > Radiant Blast > auto > repeat and kite back since you'll have the movement speed and attack speed advantage most of the time due to Divine Ascent and Celestial Blessing.

Although I can't say that PtA has gotten me a ton of kills in lane, it's definitely helped in trades against champions like Irelia where her entire kit depends on hitting you with Flawless Duet pre-6, where if she misses you simply outtrade her with PtA + Starfire Spellblade at the end.

Once you proc PtA, you don't have to keep the fight going. The most optimal way to use this strategy is actually to proc PtA with three auto attacks, and then disengage with Radiant Blast while at the same time using Starfire Spellblade while the exposure effect is still active.

Furthermore, the quirky thing about PtA is that it's actually REALLY good at killing enemies that dive you. Because they'll typically be in your range for quite a while when you're kiting around and near tower, you'll have a much higher chance of activating PtA, which then increases the damage they take from you, and more importantly, the turret. When this is combined with the shred on Radiant Blast, they'll have to stop the dive or they'll end up dying.

Objectively speaking, Press the Attack and likewise Lethal Tempo require different playstyles and mindsets when compared to the mindset and playstyle of playing with Kleptomancy or Fleet Footwork.

For a while now, I've stopped playing with most of the time and have been using PtA only and it's been working very well in most matchups:

Hope this helps you!

Could you add a Sylas matchup?
qasddsa (17) | August 27, 2019 8:12pm
Sorry this took so long. The Sylas matchup will be posted in the cheatsheet under "Mid | AP Builds" tomorrow when patch 9.17 comes to NA. I'll be able to add a more in-depth version if you'd like.

Matchups currently on hold until Patch 9.16 due to Kayle changes on the PBE

Overall, I like them. They're definitely going to give her a lot more agency in lane and a lot more power earlier. The tradeoffs aren't that big of a deal either - while the loss of waveclear at 6 does feel bad, the loss of true damage at 16 is small compared to range earlier.

How do you decide when to go tear or not?
QuantumSlayer (1) | July 21, 2019 5:03pm
Hey, nice guide! When I should choose between AD/AP kayle? What is the common build for Ad- on hit and AP- on hit?
qasddsa (17) | July 21, 2019 5:25pm
Hi! Generally speaking, AP gives you more utility and survivability and AD gives you more damage in exchange for being more likely to die. AP builds are also typically cheaper than AD builds.

Right now, I mainly use AD Kayle because of its damage and how good it feels. The only time I use AP now is in the hardest lanes, where I know I'm going to need the extra utility. Outside of this condition, I think that AD vs AP is preferential and each has their positive points.

There is honestly no pure on-hit builds that are completely AD or completely AP, because they eventually either: become a blend of the two, become full AP with on-hit components, or become full AD with on-hit components. This is what I mean:

AP On-Hit: Nashor's Tooth, Guinsoo's Rageblade, Hextech Gunblade, Rabadon's Deathcap, Rylai's Crystal Scepter

AD On-Hit: Blade of the Ruined King, Guinsoo's Rageblade, Statikk Shiv, Infinity Edge, Runaan's Hurricane

Blend: Nashor's Tooth, Guinsoo's Rageblade, Blade of the Ruined King, Runaan's Hurricane, Infinity Edge

These are example builds that I would go. As you can see, the on-hit builds eventually just become their full ad/ap builds but with the on-hit aspect slapped on at the start.

Thanks! When I'm going for AP On-Hit and the game gets too hard, I usually finish my build with PD and Rylai. It's awesome!!

Hi. What do you think about kleptomancy and cookies on Kayle? Is it stil profit or not?
qasddsa (17) | June 27, 2019 10:03am
Kleptomancy and Biscuits are great on Kayle and are very much viable.

Kleptomancy gives her a better time during laning phase because of the gold and items you can get from it and biscuits combined with Time Warp Tonic and Corrupting Potion allows her to sustain very well.

You can check the third tab on the AP Builds page to look at the runes for a Kleptomancy page or my runes section for in-depth details about Klepto and its options.
