Senna boasts an amazing set of abilities that provide so much to your team, she is capable of turning teamfights around with her ultimate Dawning Shadow and camouflaging an entire team into gank with Curse of the Black Mist.
CONS

- Can't deal with tanks
- Slow exploitable auto-attack animations
- Slow projectile with delayed CC
- No escapes excluding Flash
- Extremely vulnerable VS Engage tanks/supports
- Complicated item synergy with kit
- Very expensive mana costs

While Senna is extremely fun and provides so much for your team she has very clear and laid out weaknesses. Senna's extremely vulnerable to hard engage because of her limited choices of escape outside of Flash, she also has extremely high mana costs so spamming abilities during lane phase will leave you OOM.

PASSIVE ABILITY
Absolution

INNATE - WEAKENED SOUL: Senna's attacks on enemy champions apply Mist for 4 seconds. Senna's next attack collects the mist and deals 1% − 16% (based on level) of target's current health Attack damage as bonus physical damage. The same target cannot be collected more than once every 4 seconds.

ABSOLUTION: Each stack of mist grants Senna 1 bonus attack damage. For every 20 stacks, Senna also gains 25 bonus range and 15% critical strike chance. Upon exceeding 100% critical strike chance, Senna converts 35% of the excess into to life steal. Additionally, Spellthief's Edge grants adaptive force instead of ability power.

RELIC CANNON: Senna does not gain attack damage through growth, her basic attack wind-up is only reduced by 0.6% per 1% bonus attack speed, and her critical strikes deal only 30% (16.25% more with Infinity Edge) AD bonus physical damage, but her basic attacks deal 20% AD bonus physical damage and grant her 10/15/20% of the target's movement speed as bonus movement speed for 0.5 seconds.

Enemy Champions, large Minions and large Monsters that die near Senna spawn a Mist Wraith for 8 seconds. Epic monsters spawn 2 Mist Wraiths instead. Small Minions and lesser monsters have a 20% chance to spawn Mist Wraiths, reduced to 5.5% chance on those that Senna kills. Senna can basic attack a Mist Wraith to destroy it, gaining Gold 3 and collecting its mist.

Senna shoots a bolt of piercing shadow through an ally or enemy. Enemies hit take 50/80/110/140/170 (+50% bAD) physical damage. Allied champions hit are healed for 40/60/80/100/120 (+25% AP)(+40% bAD) health.

Basic attacks reduce Piercing Darkness's cooldown by 1 seconds---Piercing Darkness's cast range matches Senna's attack range and its cast time is improved with Attack Speed. It can target anything and applies on-hit effect to enemy champions.

Senna sends forth the black mist, dealing 70/115/160/205/250 (+70% bAD) physical damage to the first enemy hit. After a 1 second delay the target and other nearby enemies are rooted for 1.45/1.65/1.85/2.05/2.25 seconds.

Senna dissolves into a cloud of mist for 6/6.5/7/7.5/8 seconds, becoming a wraith. Allied champions who enter the mist are Camouflaged and become wraiths when they leave. Wraiths gain 20% movement speed. They are unselectable and hide their identities as long as no enemy champions are nearby.

Senna fires a blast of light with global range. Enemy champions hit take 250/375/500 (+ 40% AP)(+100% bAD) physical damage. Allied champions hit in a wider area recieve a shield for 3 seconds that absorbs 120/160/200 (+40% AP)(+ 1.5 per mist) damage. The shields power scales with the amount of mist Senna has collected.

  • Priority #1: Dawning Shadow
  • Like most champions, your ultimate is your main priority for maxing first, for Senna that would be Dawning Shadow.
  • Priority #2: Piercing Darkness
  • Piercing Darkness is your bread and butter ability, it provides a good chunk of your damage and is your only ability capable of healing. Therefore it's best to max this ability next.
  • Priority #3: Last Embrace
  • As your only form of CC, I'd highly recommend maxing this next as it ends up scaling into quite a long duration root with decent base damage.
  • Priority #4: Curse of the Black Mist
  • Due to it's situational use as an engage/disengage ability, I don't see a reason to max this over any other ability which puts it last on our list to max.

SUMMONER SPELLS
-
FLASH: Flash is by the most valuable summoner for an immobile champion like Senna. It provides you with a tool to disengage a dive, dodge an incoming ability or escape into fog of war, not to mention it allows you use flash in range of a low health target.
BARRIER: Barrier is great in lane and during the game. It helps you win botlane all ins and helps mitigate incoming damage during teamfights. It's a great choice for someone like Senna who has a long exploitable auto-attack animations.
EXHAUST: Exhaust is a good pick into hard all-in ADC's like Draven and Lucian. It's also a way to help mitigate incoming damage from assassins like Zed and Qiyana, whether it's to protect you or a teammate.
IGNITE: Sometimes, you got to start a little fire... and by fire I mean Ignite. It provides great early game kill potential and applies grievous wounds which is great into supports like Soraka. Due to her high range and how little you'll be close enough it's not recommended but viable.
HEAL: The basic rule for Heal is: If your ADC took Teleport you can take heal for your lane instead. However, this doesn't mean you always have to take it when your ADC takes Teleport.

SORCERY


Your primary rune, Summon Aery is by far the best rune for Senna (in my opinion). It provides extra poke damage, extra shielding power and all on a relatively low cooldown.

How good is the extra shielding from Summon Aery? It's ridiculously good due to how Senna works. Summon Aery's shield scales with an incredible 0.4 bonusAD scaling and Senna's passive provides 1 BonusAD per stack, not baseAD.

Our little friend Summon Aery helps so much with expending our Athene's Unholy Grail stacks early game, which helps dish out even more heals quickly.

Manaflow Band is a must in my opinion, she has extremely high mana costs on relatively low cooldowns. If you're against a full AP team, you could consider taking Nullifying Orb for some extra protection and just being more conservative with mana consumption.

Transcendence all the way, free 10% CDR at level 10 helps you reach the 40% CDR cap faster. Also, I personally find over-capping on CDR is easily done and feels like a waste, but with Transcendence it converts over-capped CDR into adaptive force!

Gathering Storm is one of my favourite runes, even though Senna is an infinitely scaling champion, the extra AD/AP per 10 minutes really helps especially in games where you find yourself slightly behind. You can exchange this for Scorch to get some extra early game poke in or Waterwalking to help with early roams (if you plan on doing it)

The protection Bone Plating provides in lane is invaluable, Senna only has 520 health at level 1 and Bone Plating can block 90 damage which is huge amount of damage reduction early game.

Revitalize provides extra percentage heal & shield power which doubles when people are low, this makes your heal from Piercing Darkness stronger, it also makes the shield from Summon Aery and Dawning Shadow stronger.

has amazing synergy with Transcendence because at max level it provides either 12 AD or 20 AP!

provides some small but decent stats, but both and are exchangeable with and for free defensive stats.

BOOT CHOICES
-
BOOTS OF SWIFTNESS: As a support you need to get around the map quickly to control vision by warding key areas and clearing enemy wards, Boots of Mobility are normally the best call for this but Senna can't afford the loss of movement speed during combat because she needs to kite.
MERCURY'S TREADS: These are a great option when against heavy AP teams, sometimes Mercury's Treads are worth it for just the tenacity alone. Remember though, tenacity doesn't reduce all forms of CC.
NINJA TABI: If you're facing high amounts of AD champs on the enemy team, Ninja Tabi's are an amazing choice to help mitigate some of that damage, especially if they're auto-attack heavy champions.
IONIAN BOOTS OF LUCIDITY: These are viable boots because of the CDR they bring which is especially useful during the early game. If you have Transcendence it will be converted into Adaptive Force if you over-cap on CDR, you can also sell them for another pair of boots later in the game.


ECONOMY ITEMS
-

SPECTRAL SICKLE: This is her best economy item for Senna. You generate gold by actively poking your opponents which Senna does anyway to stack Absolution. The stats on the item are also great for her.
SPELLTHIEF'S EDGE: This is the only other viable economy item for Senna. You generate gold by actively poking your opponents which Senna does anyway to stack Absolution. The stats on the item are also great for her when full support.


DAMAGE ITEMS
-
DUSKBLADE OF DRAKTHARR: This item has amazing stats for Senna, it gives her lethality, BonusAD, CDR and bonus damage upon hitting a champion out of sight which synergies well with your Curse of the Black Mist. It's a viable first item for Senna because of it's stats, it helps boost your amazing early game poke.
YOUMUU'S GHOSTBLADE: Similar to Duskblade of Draktharr, it provides great stats for Senna. The movement speed passive and active helps her kite and allows you to traverse the map even faster, which is amazing for a support.
UMBRAL GLAIVE: What is not to love about this item? It provides amazing stats for Senna, it's cheap (2400G) and has the blackout passive which is amazing on a support. It allows you to clear revealed wards with one auto and control wards with 2.
LAST WHISPER ITEMS: If the enemy team is build some armour, I'd highly recommend building either Lord Dominik's Regards against teams with high amounts of armour and little sustain ( Braum) or Mortal Reminder against teams with high armour and/or just large amounts of sustain ( Soraka).
INFINITY EDGE: If you're fed and on your last item, this is a great last choice. It will add that extra bit of burst to each auto. It provides great stats for Senna too and any crit that goes over the cap is converted into Life Steal (late game it
MANAMUNE: I personally find this item to be very situational, if you want to scale harder into the late game this is a viable option. However, this is more of an ADC/Solo lane item for Senna.



SUPPORT ITEMS
-


ATHENE'S UNHOLY GRAIL: By far the best support item for Senna. She often hits allies and enemies regularly with Piercing Darkness, which will instantly use up the stored healing and disperse it onto your allies. It's incredibly efficient and has decent stats for Senna.
REDEMPTION: A great item that is best taken with Athene's Unholy Grail so that it gives you more AP. It has great play-making potential combined with your ultimate, you can sway the outcome of teamfights without even having to directly be there.
ARDENT CENSER: It's a great item for any support capable of applying heals/shields, especially if you have multiple auto-attack focused champions on your team such as your ADC, Kayle and Master Yi. You also benefit from it's passive, even if only slightly.
SHURELYA'S REVERIE: Since the items rework in patch 9.23 its amazing on Senna. It provides great stats for support Senna and the active combined with Curse of the Black Mist can get your team into or out of fights within seconds.
MIKAEL'S CRUCIBLE: It's a situational item, but if you find your ADC or Carry being hit by very long duration CC like Dark Binding and Enchanted Crystal Arrow I'd recommend taking it. It provides decent stats and a huge 20% heal/shield power which is amazing for Senna.


DAMAGE ITEMS
-
GUARDIAN ANGEL: A good defensive item that provides AD, armour and a passive that allows you to resurrect upon taking fatal damage. It's build path also contains Stopwatch, which means you can have a one time use invulnerability item.
MAW OF MALMORTIUS: If you're against a team with heavy AP damage (especially against assassins like LeBlanc) I'd highly recommend taking it. Despite being a defensive item, it also possesses some great stats for Senna.
EDGE OF NIGHT: The lethality update made the spellshield a passive instead of an active and changed its stats. If you're getting caught and killed because of a single ability hitting you before a fight starts, take it. (E.g. Blitzcrank's Rocket Grab)
MERCURIAL SCIMITAR: I highly recommend taking this item against Mordekaiser, Malzahar and other champions with hard CC. The item also has decent stats with AD, MR and some Lifesteal, which never hurt to have (even if Senna can get it passively after a long time).

Why no sheen items?
Iceborn Gauntlet and Trinity Force both scale with BaseAD for it's sheen proc and Senna only has 63 BaseAD which does not grow. Making Sheen items a terrible gold investment for her. The other Sheen item Lich Bane scales with AP which combats her low BaseAD, but even then it's not worth it in my opinion.
Is her Curse of the Black Mist stealth?
No, Curse of the Black Mist is a unique form of camouflage. Camouflage hides champions until either a control ward or enemy champion is within a certain range of the camouflaged champion. However, Curse of the Black Mist creates a circle circle of mist that is visible to enemies, with Senna always being at the center of the mist. While they're all unclickable when not in range of enemies, they're still targetable!
