Introduction

Hello, LoL-ers ^^, So this is just a fun build because the rift isn't only for serious players. Sometimes playing a champ in a role you are comfortable with is a great way to learn the champ's mechanics. That being said, you also get to try out new things, different things, just like I do. So this build is for those who would like to try Braum sleighing around in the jungle.

Braum - The heart of the Freljord

Braum is meant to play a supportive role in League of Legends. No matter where you go, whichever lane with this guy, you will always end up playing a "Glorified" support role at the end of the day. So why play him in the jungle? Well firstly, for fun and lastly, his utilities can be useful ganking tools. Sadly our ice giant is so busy dragging his giant "door shield" that he forgets to pack a punch. A sneak peak at his abilities below (Which were taken from the league of legends fandom page - Braum).

Passive
Concussive Blows
Basic attacks, Winter's Bite and following allied basic attacks each applies a stack to the target for 4 seconds (per target), stacking up to a maximum of 4 stacks. At 4 stacks, the target is stunned for 1.25/1.5/1.75 seconds and takes 26 - 196 (based on level) magic damage. If the target was recently stunned, the target takes 5.2 - 39.2 (based on level) bonus magic damage from Winter's Bite and basic attacks.

Q
Winter's Bite Propels ice from his shield in the target direction, dealing 60/105/150/195/240 + 2.5% maximum health as magic damage to the first enemy hit and slowing them by 70% decaying over 2 seconds.

W
Stand Behind Me
Dash to a targeted ally, positioning between them and the closest enemy champion, gaining 7.5/20/22.5/25/27.5 + 10/11.5/13/14.5/16% bonus armor and 17.5/20/22.5/25/27.5 + 10/11.5/13/14.5/16% bonus magic resistance for 3 seconds. If the target is a champion, they also receive the same bonuses.

E
Unbreakable
Raise a shield in the target direction, creating a barrier that intercepts incoming, non-turret, enemy projectiles and reduces the damage taken by 30/32.5/35/37.5/40% through the shield for 3/3.25/3.5/3.75/4 seconds. The first instance of damage blocked by the shield is negated completely and gains 10% MS and is provided with Ghost for the duration.

R
Glacial Fissure
After a leap and a slam into the ground, the shield creates a fissure in the targeted direction that deals 150/250/350 + 60% AP magic damage to enemies as well as those around him.

Enemy champions hit in the close vicinity are knocked up, while enemies hit in the line are knocked up for 0.25 seconds. If no enemy champions are hit in the point-blank area, the first enemy champion hit in the line is knocked up for the full duration. A field of ice then remains at the fissure's location for 4 seconds, slowing enemies within by 40/50/60%, persisting for 0.25 seconds.

Other basic stats

Braum is a tank and tank he shall. A good thing is that his Winter's Bite is a pro on his tanky build. The rest of him is just crowd control utilities, which sorta kinda makes for a good ganker, especially if your laner is able to stack onto those Concussive Blows for a stun.

Summoner Spells

A pretty standard pick for any jungler in any format of the game on summoner's rift (possible exceptions to AURF). Smite is a very important tool which can allow you to secure objectives such as dragon , baron and the rift scuttler on a regular basis. Securing might also involve a bit of stealing them away from the enemy team. Just as with everything else for Yi the timing on smite is also very important.

Another standard pick for most champions in league of legends in any role. It indeed makes a difference in that little distance you can cover at the right amount of time, which can make or break the game. You can use flash to avoid getting focused in a team fight, escape skill shots from crowd controlling abilities, as a gap closer to get your kill safely, steal an objective such as baron or the Elder dragon.

Items

Each game is and will be different from every other game you have played and will play, even if it is with the same group of people. What this means is sticking to just one build every game will not be an efficient way to optimize the current situation of the game. So depending on the runes you can mix and match the item guidelines given in this guide for the specific build style.

Itemization Menu

Core Items

Passive
Sterak's gage passive

Sterak's Gage is useful as it allows you stay alive through burst damage and providing you with a shield to sustain as front line while dealing some damage. Usually good for a bruiser type build rather than a full tanky build, but fits well as a damage item after Enchantment: Cinderhulk.

Passive
Cinderhulk enchantment passive

Enchantment: Cinderhulk is the item for tanky champions on the rift's jungle. It provides health stats and bonus health in addition to a slow burn to nearby targets which helps with clearing jungle camps to balance out the lack of damage in the kit. It is preferred over Enchantment: Warrior and Enchantment: Bloodrazor as you only need to land one Winter's Bite to allow for the Concussive Blows stun to land and since Braum is a support type jungler in this role you must be tanky enough to enable target access to your damage dealers rather than being squishy and getting out-damaged by the enemy carries.

Jungle Items

Stalker's Blade is the preferred item path for the jungle item. Although, Chilling Smite doesn't stack Concussive Blows passive onto the enemy champion it does allow you to keep them in place while the rest of your team blows them away. Can be used as a gap closer and really frustrating to escape from Braum if Concussive Blows is utilised with Glacial Augment and chilling smite.
Skirmisher's Sabre is mostly used on junglers who prefer dueling 1 on 1 with the enemy champions. If you are going to take the risk to build damage on Braum instead of using his bulkyness, then you can opt out for this item, otherwise Stalker's Blade is preferred.

Runes

Tank the Braum

Primary Style: Resolve - no surprise here
  • Grasp of the Undying - permanent health for a tank? oh, don't mind if I do!
  • Font of Life - the whole idea of Braum is to proc his passive on his slowing Winter's Bite and since it slows enemy champs - impairing their movement - your allies who unconsciously stack your Concussive Blows get healed.
  • Bone Plating - buying Enchantment: Cinderhulk delays the purchase of armor and magic resist items. This provides some protection in early game from burst damage so you can get to the enemy and survive long enough to land your stun and damage.
  • Overgrowth - oooh my, even more, health stats and at the comfort of being amongst jungle camps and minions during ganks? Awesome, isn't it.

Secondary Style: Inspiration
  • Biscuit Delivery - this provides sustain and allows braum to clear the jungle fairly well as he has no damage or fast clears. It allows you to stay on the map a little longer for more jungle camps or ganks.
  • Time Warp Tonic - simply put - it goes well with Biscuit Delivery and allows you to safely farm in the early stages before getting Bami's Cinder for faster cleaers.

Braum Packs a Punch too!

Primary Style: Resolve - no surprise here
  • Conqueror - perfect item on bruiser types who deal damage slowly, yet can stay in a fight much longer. Dealing true damage to enemy champions without having much of damage scaling in your kit is a good way to contribute to a fight if you are planning on dealing the punches rather than taking them.
  • Triumph - allows you to survive in extended fights as you are a melee champion, you can restore some of your resources to help your team more.
  • Legend: Alacrity - attack speed boost so you can stack your Concussive Blows passive faster on a 1 v 1 situation (in counter jungling cases or ganks).
  • Last Stand - Since you would technically be diving in face first into the enemy team, due to some tankiness and of course the melee range, your health is bound to get chunked out by the enemy, you can make use of this to sneak in some additional damage while trying to survive and land stuns.

Secondary Style: Inspiration
  • Bone Plating - buying Enchantment: Cinderhulk delays the purchase of armor and magic resist items. This provides some protection in early game from burst damage so you can get to the enemy and survive long enough to land your stun and damage.
  • Overgrowth - oooh my, even more, health stats and at the comfort of being amongst jungle camps and minions during ganks? Awesome, isn't it.

Stat Shards!

  • +9% attack speed - for faster clear and faster stacking of Concussive Blows.
  • +5 Armour or + 6 Magic resist - based on the enemy team composition, picking +5 Armour by default as most camps deal physical damage.
  • +15 - 90 HP (based on level) - gives some bonus damage to Winter's Bite since it scales off of maximum health.

Jungle path

Each champion has his own path that suits his/her fighting style. For Braum, it's given below:
  • Level 1 > Buff camp blue sentinel or red brambleback whichever camp is closer to the bottom lane duo, as you need a leash to help clear the next camp with more health and smite. (Do not use smite on the first camp, make use of Health Potion which will be more effective due to Time Warp Tonic). Use smite on second buff or if not needed save it for the rift scuttler .
  • After the 2 buffs crest of insight and crest of cinders , go straight to the rift scuttler closest to you, get it or else return to your jungle to clear gromp . If you cleared your the red buff second and checked/got the rift scuttler, go to the blue buff side again for the second rift scuttler, get it if available, then go for gromp.
  • Level 3 > gank the closest lane, usually mid or top, or bottom and mid, if possible or recall.
  • clear raptors and krugs once you have Bami's Cinder as it will help you clear them faster without taking much damage. If you are unable to get Bami's Cinder clear wolves and gank again.

You will get a low creep score at the start, but that is because brawling with camps with high damaging creeps is a risk at lower levels, but effective ganking will make up for this.

Team Work

If you are thinking about trying to use this in ranked, it's possible, yes, but it requires that your team composition is well suited, such as- champions in the lane who can proc your passive quickly to stun the enemy laner; anyone who can utilize the knock ups from your ultimate etc...

It is, however, a little difficult for AP laners to proc the passives for stuns unless of course, they have a stun of their own. So if you consider using it in ranked make sure the team composition can make use of this. Where as your tanky-ness will be of use regardless.

If Braum is well suited for the team comp, or you have a duo partner in crime willing to try this strategy out, you can make use of Concussive Blows to get effective ganks.

Conclusion

Try it out for yourselves and let me know if it worked or you liked it (: And if you tried any variations I would definitely like to try it out for myself. Thank you ^^
