Threat Champion Notes
Dr. Mundo This is the easiest Match-up ever for Kayle. Dodge his Cleaver (Q), stay at the right distance (Righteous Fury Distance "E") and Mundo can't really do nothing in lane against you. Poke slowly Mundo with your auto attacks and Reckoning (Q). you can't really fail against Mundo!!!
Fizz Fizz isn't a big problem for you. Counter his ulti with your Ulti and hit hard with your Righteous Fury (E). He can dodge your Reckoning (Q) using his stupid Jump, just wait that ability to slow him down with Reckoning.
Nidalee In her human form she cannot really do any damage to you if not with her spear, an easy counter to that ability it is to stand behind a minion. In her puma form she can only jump towards you dealing light damages, but she still remains a melee without any stun and slow effects...!

What Kayle can do:

Kayle is one of the most versatile champions of the game, and she can do every role in the game...! AP Carry (Top or Mid Laner), AD Carry (Bottom Laner with the Support), Support (Bottom Laner with the ADC) and Jungler. Every role needs a different kind of items to be usefull, i think that the best role for Kayle is the AP Carry top laner, even if she is good as jungler or mid laner too. If you usually play normal game, you can try to build an ADC Kayle, it's really funny. I really like Kayle, because you can really decide what role play in the game and this is why I find Kayle very stimulating to play so frequently.
Kayle suffers champions with Jumps, Dashes, Shunpo followed by a big amount of Damages and/or high Stuns. This because Kayle hasn't escapes or disengages. For example, 1 of the biggest problems for Kayle is Jax...! Jax is one the strongest counter for Kayle and I absolutely suggest to switch lane if possible when you are against him in a 1vs1 lane!!! Another horrible Match UP is Annie, because she can one shot you with her ultimate in combo with her passive Stun, followed by her normal abilities!!!
Instead Kayle is very strong against Melee Assassins with No Stuns or Istant Damages like Zed, Yasuo, Katarina, Fizz, Gangplank, etc... Versus Mid Range Mages like Lux, Morgana, Fizz, Twisted Fate, Vladimir etc... Because you can Dodge their Poke and Farm easily than them pushing the lane. For last Kayle is very strong even against Tanks like Garen, Nasus, Shen, Volibear, etc...! This because they can't easily reach Kayle thanks to her Divine Blessing and Reckoning abilities, and they haven't any way to poke you! I suggest to close the Berserkers Greaves faster as possible versus Tanks to take even more Movement Speed Advantage!!!

Pros / Cons

- Easy farming and cleaning way thanks to Righteous Fury (E), especially in mid/late game.
- Kayle can keep away her opponent's lane and farming without any risk like a Ranged Champ.
- Antitank Champ, Kayle can easily break the defenses of all Tanks by her passive ability.
- High sustain in team fight especially in late game.
- Intervention (R) is one of the strongest ability of the game.
- Kayle can fill well a team thanks to her versatility.
- Good Mobility and Healing thanks to Divine Blessing (W).
- She can be builded in 100 different ways (all usefull and great)

- Kayle can be easily ganked by the enemy Jungler.
- She needs a lot of farming to be competitive.
- If blinded she does almost nothing.
- Very fragile Champion.
- Kayle suffers a lot all the Stun effects.
- She needs Items for a total of 30/40% of Cooldown Reduction to be usefull.
- Guinsoo's Rageblade isn't so easy to optimize in team fight (Guinsoo's Rage).

Some Results and Statistics

This is my last game of today. I was in Mid Lane against Yasuo. The lane was totally in my favor because my poke is harmful for him, and he can't heal himself in any way. Yasuo's Shield does not block Kayle's Auto-Attack, so it is very frustrating to farm for him. I chose this Build because they were all AD, so i decided to close Zhonya and Guardian Angel as 5° and 6° Item. In addition i was very lucky to start with Cleanse as Summoner Spell versus Yasuo, instead of Ghost, generally my alternative choice to Cleanse, because i could cleanse Yasuo's Ultimate and cast mine on myself killing him very easily. I gave up a bit of my Attack Speed, but Kayle with her Ultimate, Zhonya's Hourglass' Stasi, Guardian Angel's Ability, Plus Cleanse is a real nightmare to kill!!! >_<

Another game of today, this time i was in Top Lane against Nasus, another good match up, especially in early game. Nothing different from the previous game, I changed only 1 Item, and i chose Wit's End instead of Guardian Angel to have a better Attack Speed and another good "On-Hit" Effect.

This is the Total Damages done to enemy Champions.

This was an experiment, i decided to close Rabadon's Deathcap as second Item after Nashor's Tooth and the Berserker's Greaves. I was super Fed so i tried something different. Rabadon's Deathcap is good in early game because it boosts a lot your Reckoning and Divine Blessing, but Guinsoo's Rageblade is however better as second Item because Kayle's power is given by her Auto-Attack!!!

Guinsoo's Rageblade

The new version of Guinsoo's Rageblade, after patch 6.9, is really INSANE for Kayle's style of game...! The only disadvantage is the cost 3600, that compared with the older version that costs 2800!!! Stats is however good compared to the price of the Item; +35 AD, +50 AP and +15 Damages On Hit. The older version guaranteed; +30 AD, +40 AP. The Unique Passive ability is similar to the older version, NEW UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks grant +8% attack speed, +3 attack damage, and +4 ability power for 5 seconds (stacks up to 6 times). While you have 6 stacks, gain Guinsoo's Rage. While the OLD UNIQUE PASSIVE SAID: Basic attacks grant +8% Attack Speed, +3 Attack Damage, and +4 Ability Power for 5 seconds (stacks up to 8 times, melee attacks grant 2 stacks). While you have 8 stacks, gain Guinsoo's Rage. New Guinsoo's Rage: Every other basic attack will trigger on hit effects an additional time. Old Guinsoo's Rage: Basic attacks deal bonus magic damage on hit equal to 20 + 15% of bonus Attack Damage and 7.5% of Ability Power to the target and nearby enemy units. I think that the older version of Guinsoo's Rageblade was a stronger item in early game especially if you are building Kayle Hybrid with Hextech Gunblade. This is beacause the older version of Guinsoo's Rage increases your AP by 7,5%, and your Bonus AD by 15%...! But the new version of Guinsoo's Rageblade is simply insane in late game especially if combined with ON HIT items like Wit's End, Nashor's Tooth and the new Jungler Enchantment Bloodrazor. Now every 2 auto-attacks on hit effects trigger twice...! It is simply wonderfull!!!

Team Work

Kayle works well with every jumping/dashing/shunpo Champions with High Burst Damages, like Katarina, Jax, Master Yi, Vayne, Xin Zao, Riven, Yasuo, Fiora, Jarvan, Hecarim, Rengar, Kha'Zix, Lee Seen, Olaf, Warwick etc...
In fact Kayle can stay behind those champions shielding them for 3 seconds, thanks to Intervention (R), healing and speeding them at the end of the effect, meanwhile may launch a series of auto attack undisturbed causing a lot of damages and reducing Armor and Resistence of all Targets!!!
One of the Strongest Combo is with Warwick. Kayle can Shield him with her Intervention (R), while Warwick is suppressing their AD or AP Carry with his Infinite Duress (R), creating an extraordinary Offensive/Defensive Combo!!! In addition the Warwick's Hunters Call ability (W) will increase the attack speed of both 2 in team fights.
Another wonderful similar Combo is Kayle's ultimate + Malzahar's ultimate with a similar result...!
Another great Synergy is Kayle full AP Top or Mid Laner + Soraka full Tank Support. In this way Kayle can hugely heal Soraka meanwhile she can spam cures on all the allied team, If Soraka is the main focus, Kayle will use her Intervention on her to allow to Soraka to stay alive during team fights!!!

Lane Differences (Very Important)

Every Lane needs a differnt Kayle's setting. Generally settings are really similar but they all differ in Summoner's Spells and in Items setting and purchase order;
When i play Top i prefer to have Flash and Teleport to not loose minions when I recall in base, to follow a gank in the other side of the Map, like Bottom, and to fastly regroup with the team or to depush an emergency.
When i play Mid i surely pick Flash and usually Ghost or Cleanse, I know these are 2 unusual choices, but Ghost allows me to follow an opponent with low life, both in lane and/or in teams fight, or run away from him when i'm in danger. Meanwhile Cleanse is Super Strong vs some champions that can kill you after a stun or somehing similar. Cleanse is Very nice against Annie and her Teddy-Stun-Kill, Yasuo Tornado-Ultimate Combo, Cassiopeia's Ultimate, Ahri and her Charme, and some other with strong Crowd Control like Veigar and his cage for example.
Obviously when I play Jungler the choice falls on Flash and Smite.
Even when I play Kayle ADC the choice is forced to Flash and Heal.
To play Kayle as Support I usually prefer to have Flash and Exhaust than Ignite, because i think it's better to have another Slow Effect with Kayle that can already Slow a lot with her Reckoning Ability, than a boost to damage with Ignite, in addition Exhaust lowers a lot the Damages of the Target.

Supporting with Smite (my personal Idea)

I have tried several times to do the Support starting with Flash and Smite, there are many different advantages and disadvantages in this particular game choice, Now i'll try to explain the main advantages and disadvantages.

- You can really help better the Jungler with the first monster Smiting it.
- Super strong warding Item thanks to the Tracker's Knife.
- Really powerful to be a support in late game.
- You can gain some money from botttom monsters while the Jungler is Helping top or mid.
- You can help the mid laner to kill the Golem for Blu Boost (Mana Regen).
- Strong Tank against the Dragon even without the Jungler.
- You can Smite Minions or Mosters to heal a little bit.

- You haven't exhaust for all the game (especially strong in lane at the beginning).
- Super expensive build.
- If the Jungler decides to start jungling top you can only Smite Minions for the first minutes of game.
- Your ADC could remain a bit in back to farming.
- You need to be frequently helped by your Jungler to close a Kill or an Assist in lane.
- Really less useful if you spawn as Blu Team (Bottom left Core)
- You need a lot of moneys to can use Smite on Enemy Champions.

I seriosly like this choice to start with Smite if you Know that your ADC is really strong in lane, like Draven, Miss Fortune, Jinx, Sivir, etc... It is funnier if the ADC is a friend connected on Team Speak or Skype. And it is also a good Choice if you have in team an early Ganker Jungler, like Lee Seen, Jax, Evelyn, Shaco, Xin Zhao, etc...

Muramana + Essence Reaver (COMBO)

One day I started to think about if exist an effective way to take the maximum advantage of Muramana, I reflected on the fact that if it is possible to replenish the mana paid to every autoattack with Muramana, every shot doesn't lose its effectiveness...! And scrolling all the items of the game, my attention was caught by the Essence Reaver!!! "UNIQUE Passive: Critical Strikes restore 3% of your maximum Mana pool" WHAT THE HELL!?!?! it works wonderfully with Muramana...! "Toggle: Your single target spells and attacks consume 3% of your current Mana to deal 6% of your current Mana as physical damage"!!!
This means that with a possibility of 100% to make a critical strike per attack, Kayle will always restore the 3% of her Mana Total at every attack...!
I have posted 2 possibilities of build with Muramana + Essence Reaver Combo.

Jungler Items

After Patch 6.9 Devourer Enchantment was replaced by Bloodrazor Enchantment. I personally think that this new Bloodrazor Enchantment is really stronger than the old Devourer Enchntment. Let's take a look at both:
DEVOURER; Cost: 2450 Gold, +40% Attack Speed, Deals 30 Magic Damages ON HIT.
BLOODRAZOR; Cost: 2625 Gold, +50% Attack Speed, Deals 4% of the Target's Maximum Health as Bonus Physical Damage ON HIT. Simply Analyzing these Stats, it is Clear that Bloodrazor is really better than Devourer, Higher Attack Speed Bonus, and the 4% of the Target's Maximum Health is always greater than 30 Damages...!
Devourer Enchantment could be further strengthened by killing Neutral Monsters, for every monster killed was gained 1 or 2 Bonus Damages, up to a maximum of 30 Bonus Damages, 60 Magic Damages in total. Also in this case, Bloodrazor remains light years ahead of Devourer, because you don't need to farm a lot of Monsters throughout the game and Bloodrazor's Damage increases with the growth of the Health of Enemies giving Infinity Damages possibilities. Realistically speaking around 120-160 Damages against Tanks and 60-100 Damages against Light Targets. In conclusion, i think that Kayle benefits very well of this new Enchantment and she can be very strong even in Jungle with it, Nashor's Tooth and Guinsoo's Rageblade.

AD or AP Kayle???

I think that Kayle has to fill the team according on the type of damages that the allies and the enemies do.
For Example if your team has; (1 AD + 1 AP + 1 Tank + 1 Supp), the best solution is to go AP/Hybrid to make the life more difficult for the opponent Tanks, and they have to go Armor and Magic Resistence to be competitive!!!
Instead if your team has; (2 AD + 1 Tank + 1 Supp) you'll go for sure Full AP Carry.
If your team has; (2 AP + 1 Tank + 1 Supp) you'll probably have to go Full AD Carry and bet on Righteous Fury "E" and Reckoning "Q" completly ignoring Divine Blessing "W".
Lastly if your team hasn't any tank, starting from the second item (you always need Nashor's Tooth or Yamuu's Ghostblade or Blade of the Ruined King at least to do something), you have to build Kayle a little bit more resistent to enemy attacks and/or spells!!! Some good Items for this purpose may be; Rod of Ages, Rylai's Crystal Scepter for a small boost to life. Abissal Scepter, Wit's End for a small boost to Magic Resistence. Zhonya's Hourglass and Zeke's Arbringer for a small boost to Armor. If you really need to be an Huge Tank you can seriosly can consider the possibility to buy some Huge Tanky Item like; Warmog's Armor, Spirit Visage and/or Dead Man's Plate...!
If enemies have 2 or more Tanks a good Trick could be to build Kayle in Anti-Tanks modality;
Blade of the Ruined King + The Black Cleaver + Wit's End + Liandry's Torment + Hextech Gunblade and Berserker's Greaves. In this way you can easily crush their Defences, giving subastain to your team and allowing your allies to do more damages to enemies.


Never buy an Item just because i have suggested to buy it. When you play use your mind and your experience to understand what could be better in that specific situation!!! Only in this way you can improve your quality...!
