Introduction

Hello! I am Giraffe3100 and welcome to my Mobafire Guide. I have been playing Swain ever since I started to play League in Season 6.

In Season 6, I played my ranked placements and got Silver V and didn't play ranked again.
In Season 7 I climbed from Bronze to Gold V with Swain in 4 weeks.
Season 8 I placed Silver III and started college so lost time to play league.
Season 9 I was Gold 4.
This Season 10 I am Silver 1, still climbing.

I'm really happy with Swain's update, not many people understood how to carry with Swain in the past, but now with enough practice anyone can carry with him.

Runes

IMPORTANT NOTICE


A lot of different rune pages can work on Swain. Choose what fits your playstyle, and counters your lane opponent. I use electrocute most of the time I think it is the best option.




As Swain Sup Demolish is very good for pushing the bot tower.

Arcane Comet is great on Swain. Some people take Phase Rush for the movement speed but it SUCKS stop taking that garbage rune. I prefer the extra little bit of damage from comet which helps out so much more than you expect in laning phase.

Manaflow Band is absolutely necessary, those extra abilities you are able to get off because you have the mana for them are crucial to applying sustained damage to your opponents.

Transcendence is great for the cool down reduction, which is vital for Death's Hand constantly spamming.

I prefer Gathering Storm over Scorch because of the late game, but you can take Scorch too which reminds me of death fire touch the old keystone Swain took.

Cosmic Insight is absolutely necessary because it looks the same as Vision of Empire a Swain move.



You can also take things like Summon Aery Phase Rush Glacial Augment Electrocute and Demolish.

Items

These are my suggested Core Items


Hold onto a Dark Seal early on because it will come in handy.

Rod of Ages
+60 ability
+300 health
+300 mana
This item is a constant first item for Swain. Its unique passive works really well with Swain's abilities, and makes him a very tanky mage to play against.

Sorcerer's Shoes
+18 magic penetration
+45 flat movement speed
If you are doing well early game I would advise buying this item because it gives you magic penetration which makes Swain's abilities more powerful.

Liandry's Torment
+80 ability power
+300 health
Liandry's goes well with Swain's passive and gives you some tank shred so you can kill more hefty opponents.

Zhonya's Hourglass
+75 ability power
+45 armor
+10% cooldown reduction
Zhonya's is really useful for when you are in Ult to sort of give you a second life because you can continue to gain health as you are in the zhonya's active.

Morellonomicon
+80 ability power
+300 health
It is additional magic penetration and ability power. It will give you more damge, and more damage is always good for fights.

Rabadon's Deathcap
+120 ability power
Rabadon's another damage item, this will give you stregth so you dont have to question as much fights you are taking, take the fights and know you are going to win them when you buy this item.

Passive: Ravenous Flock



Ravenous Flock TARGET RANGE: 1125 SPEED: 1200 COOLDOWN: 10
INNATE - RAVENOUS: Swain can periodically target a nearby Stun icon immobilized enemy Champion icon champion to rip out a Soul Fragment from them, dealing them 20 − 105 (based on level) (+ 30% AP) Magic damage magic damage and Airborne icon pulling them 290-units towards him before a 0.25-second cast time. If the target would be brought past Swain, they are instead Airborne icon knocked back the excess distance.

Enemy champions also leave behind a Soul Fragment for 16 seconds upon Death death, which can be harvested after 1 second if Swain is near them.

INNATE - FLOCK: Swain's ravens bring nearby Soul Fragments to him, Heal power healing him for 4 / 5.5 / 7% (based on level) of his maximum health. Each Soul Fragment collected permanently increases his maximum health by 5.

ACTIVE: Swain unleashes five bolts of eldritch power in the target direction, dealing magic damage to all enemies in a cone. Enemies can be hit by multiple bolts, taking bonus magic damage.

ACTIVE: Swain summons a demonic eye at the target location, Sight icon revealing it for 2 seconds, which explodes after 1.5 seconds, dealing magic damage to all enemies hit, halved against Minion icon minions, and Slow icon slowing them for 2.5 seconds.
Enemy champions hit are also Sight icon revealed for a duration and have a Soul Fragment ripped from them.

Upon reaching its maximum distance, the wave returns to Swain, detonating at the first enemy hit, dealing magic damage to all nearby enemies and Root icon rooting them for 1.5 seconds.

Demonic Ascension
ACTIVE: Swain frees the demon within for 12 seconds, becoming Ghost ghosted, gaining Health icon bonus health and doubling the health gained from Soul Fragments.
While Demonic Ascension is active, Swain drains all nearby enemies, dealing magic damage each second and Heal power healing himself for each enemy hit, reduced by 90% against Minion icon minions and Monster icon monsters.
After a 0.5-second delay, Swain can end Demonic Ascension's effects early to cast Demonflare, and automatically does so at the end of its duration.
Demonic Ascension drains enemies regardless of having Sight icon sight of them or not.
