Champion Build Guide

[10.16] ♥ | She's a Strong Tomato! | DatKawaiiBunny's Neek

By DatKawaiiBunny

Welcome to my Neeko guide! My name is DatKawaiiBunny, and I'm a Silver IV ADC & support main. I've been playing since season 7. I've been playing Neeko ever since she came out. She is such a fun champion. She has one of the most interesting kits, and there are so many ways to play her. I started playing her with a Kennen ADC, so that's why I made this guide!

I started taking Arcane Comet on her when she first came out. It's a good rune on her, but once I tried Glacial Augment, I thought it was the best rune for her in the support role. It works so well with her abilities. I also tried Electrocute, but overall, Glacial Augment is her highest winning rune.

♥ Camouflage

♥ High Burst Damage

♥ Lots of Crowd Control

♥ Powerful Ultimate

Neeko is a very interesting champion. Her passive Inherent Glamour and Shapesplitter allows her to be very sneaky. She can easily gank other lanes, and she can get out of sticky situations. She can easily destroy squishies with Tangle-Barbs and her ultimate since it has a high AP ratio.

♥ Very Squishy

Pop Blossom Can Be Canceled

♥ High Cooldowns on Tangle-Barbs

Neeko is a very squishy champion. If you get caught out, you're probably going to get killed. Her ult has a cast time, so it can be countered easily. As far as supports go, Neeko's cooldowns are not that high. Her W and R have the highest cooldowns. However, her E has a high cooldown, so it makes it a bit difficult to engage if you miss it.

Glacial Augment
Glacial Augment is the best rune to take on Neeko. It goes well with her abilities and combos. If you hit an enemy with a basic attack, it slows them for 2 seconds. If you have active items, such as Hextech GLP-800. It shoots a freeze ray at them, which will slow them for 5 seconds.

Perfect Timing
Perfect Timing provides you with a free Stopwatch. Since Neeko's ultimate can easily be countered, taking Stopwatch allows her to cast the ultimate while being protected by stopwatch, which gives your allies time to pick off the rest of the team. Once you use Commencing Stopwatch, you can still use it to build Zhonya's Hourglass. You can also take Magical Footwear for a free pair of Slightly Magical Boots.

Biscuit Delivery
Biscuit Delivery is always a handy rune to take, especially since Neeko is squishy and uses up quite a bit of mana with her combos. It restores 10% of your missing mana and health for 15 seconds. It also increases your mana cap by 50. You get 3 biscuits in total. 1 every 2 minutes.

Cosmic Insight
Cosmic Insight gives you a lot of Cooldown reduction. +5% CDR, +5% max CDR, +5% summoner spell CDR, and +5% item CDR. This rune is great for mid to late game. Her ultimate Pop Blossom will have a shorter cooldown, as well as her other abilities and active items.

Ingenious Hunter
Ingenious Hunter is the rune to go if you take Glacial Augment. It gives you a 15% active item cooldown, plus an additional 5% per bounty stack. You gain bounty stacks from getting takedowns. You can only get one bounty stack per enemy champion. The three main items you want to build on Neeko are all active items.

Cheap Shot
Cheap Shot allows you to deal 10 - 45 extra damage after damaging an enemy with an impaired movement speed action or ability. There are many ways to impair their movement speed with Neeko: Glacial Augment, Twin Shadows, and Hextech GLP-800.

Arcane Comet
Compared to Glacial Augment, Arcane Comet is an ok choice to take on Neeko. It hurls a comet towards the enemy when you hit them with one of your abilities, and increases her AP damage. This rune provides more poke, but you don't get the extra slow on the active items and your auto attacks.

Manaflow Band
Manaflow Band gives you 25 mana every time you hit an enemy champion with an ability. It also gives you up to 250 mana. This is a good rune for Neeko since you can use up quite a bit of mana with your abilities and combos. You could also take Nullifying Orb for the shield. When you take magic damage that reduces your health below 30%, you gain a shield that absorbs 40 - 120 magic damage based on level (+ 10% AP) (+ 15% bonus AD) for 4 seconds.

Absolute Focus
When you're above 70% health, you deal 3 - 30 bonus ability power (based on level). I take Absolute Focus for the extra damage I can deal with Tangle-Barbs and Blooming Burst. You can also take Transcendence for the 10% cooldown reduction at level 10. Also, your extra CDR will get turned into AP after you get 40 - 45% CDR.

I usually take Scorch because I constantly poke with her abilities. Scorch deals l5 - 35 extra damage when you hit an enemy with an ability. Gathering Storm is also a good rune to take on Neeko. Every 10 minutes, you gain adaptive damage. At 10 minutes, you gain 8 AP. It increases to 24 and so on. It's great for teamfights.

Perfect Timing
Perfect Timing provides you with a free Stopwatch. Since Neeko's ult can easily be countered, taking Stopwatch allows her to cast the ultimate while being protected by stopwatch, which gives your allies time to pick off the rest of the team. Once you use Commencing Stopwatch, you can still use it to build Zhonya's Hourglass.

♥ Passive: Inherent Glamour

Neeko has a selection of ally champions. She can take the appearance of anyone of them. She will stay disguised unless you cast Blooming Burst or Tangle-Barbs. Being attacked by enemy champions will also break the disguise. After the illusion is broken, it's on a 25 - 10-second cooldown, which is based on level. You can select Neeko from the selection, which puts Inherent Glamour on a 2-second cooldown.

♥ Blooming Burst

Cost: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90

Neeko throws a seed into a target area, which deals magic damage after a small delay. 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+50% of ability power). If the burst kills an enemy unit, deals damage to an enemy champion, or large monster, it will burst again after another short delay. 35 / 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 (+20% of ability power).

♥ Shapesplitter

Passive: After 3 basic attacks, Neeko gains an empowered auto-attack dealing 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 / 130 (+60% of ability power) and gains movement speed for 1 second.

Active: Neeko goes invisible for 0.5 seconds, and makes a clone of herself or disguise for 3 seconds. Her and her clone gains 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% bonus movement speed for 2 seconds.

♥ Tangle-Barbs
Cost: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80

Neeko throws a skill-shot at a target direction, rooting the first enemy hit for 0.7 / 0.9 / 1.1 / 1.3 / 1.5 seconds, and dealing 80 / 115 / 150 / 185 / 220 (+40% of ability power. The root is increased by 1.8 / 2.1 / 2.4 / 2.7 / 3 seconds on other enemy champions hit. If it hits at least 2 enemy units, it grows in size. The ability ratio 0.6 AP.

♥ Pop Blossom

Cost: 100

Neeko charges up Pop Blossom for 1.25 seconds. If she's disguised, the enemies won't see her charging it. She also shields herself for 75 / 100 / 125 (+75% of ability power)and it also increases 40 / 60 / 80 for each enemy by. After she lands, she stuns all enemies within the area for 1.25 seconds and deals 250 / 425 / 650 (+130% of ability power).

  • Relic Shield is the starter item you want to take on Neeko. It'll give you more sustain than Spellthief's Edge. You get 5 AP, 2 gold regeneration, 30 health, and 25% base health regeneration. Unlike Spellthief's Edge, you don't get mana regeneration, but her mana costs are quite small. In order to level up the item, you need 500 gold for your quest, then it will transform into Targon's Buckler. This item gives you 10 AP, 3 gold regeneration, 100 health, and 50% base health regeneration. Three wards come with the transformation as well. Once you get to 1000 gold on the quest, it transforms into Bulwark of the Mountain. It gives you 25 AP 3 gold generation, 300 health, and 100% base health regeneration. You also get 4 refillable wards.
  • Hextech GLP-800 is the first item you want to build on Neeko. Hextech GLP-800 procs Glacial Augment. You gain 80 AP, 10% CDR, and 600 mana. When activated, it fires ice bolts that explode on the first enemy hit, dealing 100 - 200 (at levels 1 - 18) (+ 35% of ability power). Enemies hit are slowed by 65%, decaying over 2 seconds
  • Twin Shadows gives 70 AP, 10% CDR and 7% movement speed. This also procs Glacial Augment. When activated, two ghosts hunt down nearby enemies. Haunted enemies are slowed by 40% for up to 5 seconds and their location is revealed.
  • Zhonya's Hourglass gives 75 AP, 45 armor and 10% CDR. When this item is activated, your champion into a stasis state for 2.5 seconds, rendering your champion invulnerable and untargetable but unable to take any actions. I buy this item for Pop Blossom.
  • Locket of the Iron Solari is a situational magic resistance item, or if you want extra armor. You get 30 armor and 60 magic resistance. When you activate the item, you and your nearby allies get a 130 - 300 (+20% of the caster's bonus health) shield. Also, if Locket of the Iron Solari is cast on the same target within 20 seconds, the cooldown will be reduced by 75%.
  • Luden's Echo is the main AP item that most mages build. You get 90 AP, 10% CDR, and 600 mana. The passive gives 10% CDR and when your item is at 100 stacks, your next spell expands, hitting 4 enemy units within the area and dealing 100 (+10% of ability power).
  • Redemption also grants a 10% bonus on healing and shielding. Redemption gives 10% cooldown reduction, 200 health, 50% base health regeneration, and 150% base mana regeneration. It has a unique activation. Targets an area within 5500 range. After 2.5 seconds, call down a beam of light to heal allies for 30 - 370 (based on target's level) and deal 10% of maximum health true damage to enemy champions and 250 true damage to minions (120-second cooldown). It can be used while dead. This is usually a situational support item for Annie. You mostly build AP so you do more damage, but you should build this if your team needs more sustain in fights.
  • Zeke's Convergence After casting your ultimate, you and your ally gain an aura for 10 seconds. Nearby enemies get slowed by 20%, while your ally's attacks burn targets for 30% bonus magic damage for 2 seconds. Frostfire slows a burning enemy that's ignited by frost storm. It deals 40 magic damage per second and slows by 40% for 3 seconds. You have to bind to an ally. You also get 60 armor, 10% CDR, 30 magic resistance, and 250 mana. This goes well with Pop Blossom since I usually put this item on my ADC. However, this is a situational item and it's not one of the three main items for Neeko.
  • I take Morellonomicon after Twin Shadows. You get 70 AP and 300 health. You also get 15 magic penetration. When you deal magic damage to enemy champions, they are inflicted with grievous wounds for about 3 seconds. This item is good against Dr. Mundo or a support champion like Soraka.

Flash teleports your champion wherever your cursor is. Neeko's ult is a great engage tool. Combining her ult with flash is an amazing way to gap close, and it doubles as a surprise for the enemy team when you use her passive Inherent Glamour. It's also a key spell for all champions, except Yuumi.

Ignite deals damage 70 - 410 true damage on a targeted enemy champion for 5 seconds, and applies grievous wounds, which reduces all healing received and regeneration rates by 40%. Ignite is great in teamfight, and against enemies that heal for a great amount. It also has kill potential, and it can be combined with any of Neeko abilities.

Exhaust slows down a targeted enemy champion for 30% of their movement speed, and reduces their damage by 40% for 3 seconds. I've been taking Exhaust for engages, and to help the jungler pull off a successful gank. Exhaust slows targeted enemy champions for 3 seconds for 30% of their movement speed. It also reduces the target's damage by 40%.

Support is one of the most important roles. There's more to it than just playing the champion. You have to understand your job in the laning phase, teamfights, as well as warding (which I have little map examples of the places I usually ward), and wave control.

Early Game

♥ Level 1:

You just want to get level two. Preferably before the enemies level up.

♥ Level 2:

If you hit level 2 before the enemy, you should communicate with your ADC and try to get an early kill, or Flash. You should also watch out for a gank by their jungler. On occasion, you might get level 2 ganked, especially by a Twitch. If you get the opportunity, you should try to poke with a simple Tangle-Barbs and Blooming Burst.

♥ Level 3 - 5:

Level 6 is when you gain your ultimate. Before then, you are going to poke, and ward. Ward dragon, possibly with a Control Ward, and help your ADC get minions and gold. If you go Relic Shield, then grab cannon for your ADC, along with other minions. Neeko is a little squishy, so try to play it safe. Don't engage, unless there's a good opportunity to, specifically engage when your jungler does.

♥ Level 6:

Neeko has a good engage ultimate. Your main combo is going to be Tangle-Barbs, Pop Blossom, then Blooming Burst. You can also throw an Ignite in there or slow them down with Exhaust for an easier Tangle-Barbs.

Mid/Late Game

♥ Roaming:

Personally, I like to roam after I get to level 6, but you can roam sooner. Neeko can be a great roamer because of her passive Inherent Glamour because she can transform into the jungler. This is where you really have to communicate with your teammates. Roaming is also a great opportunity to deep ward, ward the river, or ward objectives, like a dragon. Some good times to roam are when:
  • You and your ADC recalled and the wave is pushed bot lane
  • Mid has priority, so you can help get the tower
  • Your jungler is ganking mid. You can most likely 3 v 1 or 3 v 2.

♥ Teamfight Tips:

Teamfights are very important, and they can turn the game around. Neeko has a bunch of crowd control and good poke. Inherent Glamour works with Pop Blossom because the enemy can't see her channel the ability. Of course, don't engage, but follow your frontline when they do. If the enemy engages, make sure to protect your ADC and stun/root as many people as you can. You can use Pop Blossom in so many ways, especially with Glacial Augment and the active items.
Warding is very important throughout the game. Providing your team with vision can really turn a game around, especially if you ward objectives, such as dragon , rift herald , and baron .

Early Game

In the early game, you should prioritize warding as much as possible. You probably won't have your upgraded support item by then, but that's okay. If you're ahead, you should try to ward either the enemy's blue buff or red buff to get some vision on the jungler, just in case they gank. If you can't do that, ward the tribush with a Warding Totem or a Control Ward. If you're behind, then ward the river, one of the bushes in the bot lane, and dragon . If you're behind because of the enemy jungler, then make sure to ward the tribush, if they're coming from that direction. If not, focus on the river.

Mid/Late Game

By this time, you should be out of the bot lane. Your upgraded support item gives you an opportunity to deep ward. You want to focus on warding the enemy's jungle. Specifically, near objectives and blast cones. You should always keep dragon warded, preferably with a Control Ward. Buy an Oracle's Lens as soon as your item is upgraded and try to deny them vision by looking for wards they've placed in your jungle, as well as theirs.

  • Blue Dots are of course the Blue Team.
  • Red Dots are of course the Red Team.
  • Pink Dots are Control Wards.
  • Small Green Dots are Blast Cones
