Champion Build Guide

Akali Jungle, the brush Assassin

By Sq_09
ALERT!
Due to recent nerfs to Akali I might have to rewrite a lot of this. it'll come soon but for now just think aboiut what doesn't work anymore (I might have to update her jgl-route too)
Hey, it's me!

Heyo,

I'm Sq_09 and im a casual LoL player.

Through this description alone, you should've noticed, that anything I post here is not serious, viable or ranked-proof. I'm more about playing fun builds like this. With that said ... Akali Jungle.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- good ganks
- high mobility
- good fighting
- high outplay potential
Cons:
- bad clear early
- relatively squishy
- later Gunblade powerspike
- addicted to noodles
Gameplan
As Akali jungle your gameplan is to:
- get your lanes ahead through ganks (who would‘ve thought)
- dive the enemy backline and carries
- assassinate solo targets
- steal objectives
- kill people, lol

As a jungler, you wanna get your lanes a head by ganking them and securing kills. Akali is really well suited for that, since she brings a ton of mobility, burst damage and outplay potential to fights. She can go in and out of fights with ease and deal insane amounts of damage, while being hard to pin down herself.
More to ganking in the respective chapter of this guide ...

As an assassin Akali excels at diving further away, squishy enemies and killing them quickly. Your Twilight Shroud can keep you covered during and after the dive and protect you from other enemies. After killing their backline you can stay in the shroud, to hide from the rest of their team and wait for your energy and cooldowns to come back up and continue the fight.

If you see an enemy going alone, don‘t be afraid to take 1v1s. You can catch them offguard with a quick engage and dance around them, to proc Mark of the Assassin, while avoiding damage with your Twilight Shroud. You have really good burst damage and high mobility, which makes is the more easy to find quick picks.

With your high mobility, burst damage and Smite you can easily jump and steal objectives. If you wanna take the full fight, you can go in and stay covered with your Twilight Shroud or Zhonya's Hourglass and wait for your team. If you just wanna go for the cheeky steal and gtfo afterwords, you can Twilight Shroud outside of the pit, Shuriken Flip backwards over the wall, so it hits your shroud, go for the steal and recast Shuriken Flip to jump back over the wall and escape.

All of the upper part didn’t mention your R Perfect Execution. You can really pull some nice movement shenanigans with this thing. For example you can jump over a wall 5 times back and forth using only your abilities and Flash. You can redirect your recast- Shuriken Flip to dodge skillshots, rapidly change targets, jump over completely different walls and much more. Perfect Execution is very versatile as a burst movement option, a way to escape, a quick gapcloser or just kill people.
Pathing/Ganking

Jungle Route:

Jungle Route Image:

- Start at Redbuff. and get yourself a juicy leash. You can tell your midlaner to ward the blueside river brush so you know if blue has been taken.

- Continue at raptors. You might need to Smite the big one to survive. Depending on the leash.

- Continue at Bluebuff. You will have to Smite. Play it slow if you used Smite on Raptors.

- You'll leave Blue at low health. Look if scuttle has been taken. If it's up, heal yourself up at it. Take care tho and ward the river brush. Then either recall or look for an easy gank.

You have a pretty unhealthy clear early, so take care of counterjungling.

Ganking:

You can engage well with your Shuriken Flip.
Play ganks like normal Akali engages. engage with either Shuriken Flip, Five Point Strike or Shuriken Flip backwards into Five Point Strike. From there you can run in and out of the circle to empower your Kama, auto attack, Five Point Strike and so on. You can cover yourself very well with your Twilight Shroud to decieve the enemy and strike from an unexpected direction. The movement speed and energy-regen also help you deal damage to the enemy and get some extra Mark of the Assassin procs.
Mid-/Lategame
WIP: Until now you can view the chapter „Gameplan“ for information.
Items/Runes

Runes:

These are possible options for Keystones and Runes in every focus. (Keystones/Focuses are ordered by how much I like to use them/think they are useful) As Akali I usually use Domination as my main focus because of the added burst damage and scaling. You can use many different focuses as a secondary, but I usually roll with Sorcery for more damage.

Domination: Domination is usually my main focus, because of the added burst damage and gank-reward.

These are the useable Runes/Keystones for the Domination-Focus:

Keystones:

Electrocute is probably the most popular keystone on Akali. It brings high burst damage and better trading and can help securing quick kills in the enemy backline.

Dark Harvest is not that popular in general on Akali, but as a jungler she can proc it very often and effectively if she finds the right ganks.

Runes:

If you successfully gank multiple different lanes, your Ravenous Hunter-stacks are gonna be high really early in the game, which gives you an amaizng midgame fighting.

Since you have many abilities, that proc Sudden Impact, you can get amazing value out of it in a fight or dive.

Since you're a jungler, you are gonna wanna make some kills in lane. With Eyeball Collection getting kills makes you even stronger and ganks even more rewarding.

If you wanna gank unseen, Zombie Ward is a good niece option to gain extra vision control in the river or in lanes, to warn your allies from ganks. Take multiple Control Wards with you, to deny brush vision and get a Zombie Ward.

Sorcery: The Sorcery focus provides you with some extra damage and movement speed, which can both be very useful on Akali.

These are the useable Runes/Keystones for the Sorcery-Focus:

Keystones:

If you for some reason don't wanna run Electrocute, you can run Phase Rush as your keystone for added closeup without having to use your Twilight Shroud.

Arcane Comet is basically Sorcery- Electrocute with more range, which, if you don't want Electrocute ... sure, why not!

Runes:

Celerity can be really useful for added movement speed on Mark of the Assassin or Twilight Shroud. Later on you can become really fast with this rune.

At the start of ganks or fights Scorch can give you some extra damage on engage to quickly kill enemies.

Waterwalking is very useful, when it comes to river fights. It can give you really good fighting potential and even help you steal objectives. If your first-clear-scuttle is contested it can help you get away more easily if you're at the risk of dying.

Nimbus Cloak can help you secure kills with summoners and win Flash-trades. You can close up really fash with a Chilling Smite. It also helps you get away after a Flash out.

Inspiration: I personally wouldn't recomment any of Inspiration's keystones on Akali, but if you need some utility, the Inspiration-runes offer really good utility for Akali.

These are the useable Runes/Keystones for the Inspiration-Focus:

Runes:

Perfect Timing's Commencing Stopwatch builds into Zhonya's Hourglass, which is one of Akali's main items. It discounts it's price by 600 gold and the cdr on it is also very nice to have.

Hextech Flashtraption can be a cheesy engage option out of a brush or over a wall. It's very good to cover yourself with a Control Ward, so you can't be seen at all and sefely channel your hexflash.

Magical Footwear's Slightly Magical Boots can make you really fast throughout the game. If your ganks go well, you aren't even gonna get them that late.

If you alway wanna play at max range or wanna engage with max range Five Point Strikes, Approach Velocity can really come in handy. It makes you really fast towards enemies together with your Mark of the Assassin and it can help you secure kills faster.

A bit of Cosmic Insight CDR hasn't hurt anyone yet. Especially on Akali it makes her Five Point Strike way more spammable and takes some cooldown off of your Zhonya's Hourglass or Hextech Gunblade.

Biscuit Delivery is a nice asset to give you some jungle sustain. Consuming it does sadly not add to your energy, which is sad. :c

If you need to quickly kite a buff or heal yourfelf up quickly in teamfights or get away, Time Warp Tonic is a really good way to do that. The downside is, that you have a cooldown on your Refillable Potions, which can make jungling a bit scary (especially first clear Raptor s).

Precision: The Precision focus can be a good option for extra consistent damage. Some runes can also be pretty strong on Akali. More of a secondary focus for me.

These are the useable Runes/Keystones for the Precision-Focus:

Keystones:

I guess it's preseason afterall.

Runes:

Presence of Mind's energy bonus can really come in handy.

Coup de Grace is just some extra damage vs low health targets, which can be useful in ganking and other things.

You can keep going after a successful kill in a teamfight more safely. You can continue jungling after a gank in cases where you couldn't, when you didn't have Triumph. It can really help you stay in a fight or jungle or whatever. Also the bonus gold doesn't hurt you.

Resolve: Resolve is rarely used on Akali, but if you could use some sustain, this could very well be an option.

These are the useable Runes/Keystones for the Resolve-Focus:

Keystones:

If you reeeeaaally wanna go Resolve as your main focus, this is the only viable option I could think of. Just better don't!

Runes:

Bone Plating can help you survive some burst-counter damage at the start of a gank.

Unflinching-summoner-spells really don't hurt you. They can be really helpful to get away or secure kills you normally wouldn't.

If you wanna push towers after a gank. Don't be afraid of getting backstabbed from the river when towerkilling, since you have very high mobility.
