Introduction

Hi, I'm Alifmo. I am a platinum player and a Teemo loving madman. I started playing League near the end of May, 2016. Teemo has been my favorite champion ever since I started playing him. In one year, I managed to hit Platinum 5 and accumulated 400k points on Teemo.
Why do I love Teemo so much? I love everything about him! His looks, his voice, his small hitbox, his high burst, the ability to kill someone from across the map with a mushroom, etc!
This guide is going to show you all the tips, tricks, and everything you need to know to
play Teemo.

Runes

quints

marks
  • Greater Mark of Attack Speed: Attack Speed Marks make Teemo very potent in lane. They allow him to harass more quickly, and more consistently. It helps with last hitting minions as well.

glyphs
  • Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: Teemo is as squishy as a champ can get during the early game. Magic Resist Glyphs will prevent Teemo from getting melted by mages, which is why it is such a great choice.

seals
  • Greater Seal of Armor: A lot of Teemo's common matchups, such as Riven or Darius, are very strong attack damage champions. Without armor seals, Teemo will not be able to survive in fights against them in lane, which is why they are essential.

Mechanics

guerilla warfare Guerilla Warfare (Passive): In my opinion, your passive is one of the best passives in the game. It makes you very slippery and also implements a lot of paranoia into your enemy. Learning to abuse Guerilla Warfare is very beneficial. For example, when an enemy is chasing you, you can run into a bush and sit invisible and they will run right past you. It works even better if the bush you are hiding in has a Noxious Trap in it.
Guerilla Warfare works very well with Toxic Shot, because the increased attack speed lets you harass them more and will also give you the element of surprise.
A fun way to use Guerilla Warfare is to use it to bait out enemy skillshots. You can purposely go invisible where an enemy can see you, and then when they shoot a skillshot there you quickly move before it hits you.
You can use Guerilla Warfare to sit invisible near a Noxious Trap, and when an enemy steps on the trap you can quickly pop out and throw a Blinding Dart and start hitting them with Toxic Shot to get a very easy pick, granted no one else is there.
In lane, your basic trading tool is Auto Attack > Blinding Dart > Auto Attack. This is very simple to pull off and activates Thunderlord's Decree easily. Be wary, however. In certain matchups, such as when fighting Tryndamere or Jax, do not use your Blinding Dart carelessly. Your Blinding Dart is essential vs. Auto Attack based champions.

Champion Matchup Tips

When fighting a Darius, the most important thing is to not get pulled by him. A mechanic that I like to do in this matchup is to walk up to the Darius to auto attack him, but cancel the auto attack and back out. Doing this a few times will bait out his Apprehend, and then you will be free to chase him down with your Move Quick and harass him. Be wary of his Decimate, however. Make sure not to get hit by it and you will do good in this lane. Make sure to buy Boots early on to make this easier.

Pantheon is easily one of your hardest match ups. You can't harass him without getting in range of his Spear Shot and Aegis of Zeonia. His Aegis Protection will make it hard to trade with him, as well. How I deal with this lane is I start either Doran's Shield or Cloth Armor and 4 Health Potions. You will want to buy a Ninja Tabi and also max your Blinding Dart instead of Toxic Shot. This will give you good harass since it has high range and allows you to harass Pantheon safely. Since you will be harassing Pantheon with Blinding Dart, I like to bring Deathfire Touch , instead of Thunderlord's Decree in this matchup. Ask your jungler for early ganks to shut down Pantheon before he snowballs.

Fighting Gangplank all depends on who pokes who the hardest. Try to harass Gangplank when he uses his Parrrley to last hit a Minion. When he places down a Powder Keg, try to bait out his combo by walking in range of his Powder Keg and quickly move back, use Move Quick if you have to. Doing this can bait out his Powder Keg, and he will be defenseless as you chase him down and damage him. Make sure not to get hit by a Parrrley when he has Trial By Fire active.

When fighting a Yorick, try to harass him without getting hit by his Mourning Mist. If you dodge his Mourning Mist, then you can safely kill his Mist Walkers from his Shepherd of Souls passive. Make sure to always stay moving so he cannot trap you in his Dark Procession easily. Past level 6, you have an advantage over him. If he manages to land his Mourning Mist, place a Noxious Trap on top of yourself. The Mist Walkers will die quickly and Yorick will most likely be damaged from the Noxious Trap as well. If you get caught in Dark Procession, place a Noxious Trap on top of yourself and try to break free before Yorick gets up to you and uses Eulogy of the Isles.

Kennen is a champion who counters you, on paper. He has more burst, more mobility, and can CC Lock you with Mark of the Storm. The best way to win trades in this matchup is to dodge his Thundering Shuriken, and then throw a Blinding Dart first, and auto attack him once and then back out once the Blinding Dart ends. By doing this, Kennen cannot apply Mark of the Storm to you with his auto attacks and proceed to stun you, giving you a very easy trade. When Kennen uses his Lightning Rush or Slicing Maelstrom, place a Noxious Trap where he is going to be, or where it can be easily detonated and will hit him, such as on top of a minion wave. Right after, throw a Blinding Dart on him before you get stunned. Make sure to harass him when he uses his Thundering Shuriken to last hit a minion.

When fighting a Cho'Gath, the most important thing to do is to move in unpredictable patterns to avoid his Rupture. If Cho'Gath does not land his Rupture, he has no way of getting up to Teemo safely. When Cho'Gath activates
Vorpal Spikes to kill minions, make sure to not stand behind them, so you do not take any damage. Be sure to punish him and deny him XP and Gold when he does not have his Rupture up. If he does land a Rupture, it will be followed up with Feral Scream, and then Feast. This is why you must place a Noxious Trap near you, and you must play around it. By doing this, when Cho'Gath walks up to you, he will step on the Noxious Trap and will be slowed down and this will give you a chance to escape. Just remember to be as slippery as possible and try to bait out his Rupture, and then punish him if he misses.

Itemization

AP Teemo Build

In my opinion, this is one of the greatest Ability Power items in the game. Everything about it has great synergy with Teemo, which is why I love it so much. Liandry's Torment gives you a good amount of AP, gives you survivability because of the HP, lets you burst down squishy targets with the Flat Magic Penetration, and also helps you melt tanks because of the Percentage Max Health Damage. Liandry's Torment burn passive works extremely well with Noxious Trap, because it does increased damage since Noxious Trap slows enemies.

This item has it's ups and downs. It gives you great damage, but is not that good of a burst item. In many cases, you will need to rely on your mushrooms for damage since you will not be able to be able to auto attack the enemy safely (For example if the enemy has a fed Caitlyn.) Her range is very high and she will have a support peeling for her. In this case, Nashor's Tooth is not a great choice because you will not be able to make use of the attack speed it gives. In these situations, Teemo needs a burst item, such as Luden's Tempest.

This item is a good first completed item. It gives good sustain, which Teemo lacks any built-in form of, gives good burst with it's Lightning Bolt active, and gives you great healing from Noxious Trap. This item can be used in both the AP Teemo and On-Hit Teemo build.

On-Hit Teemo Build
This item is a must-have when going On-Hit Teemo. It makes you more sticky, prevents enemies from getting away, lets you make picks with your team on enemies who are out of position or pushed up too far. It also gives you great survivability, especially when paired up with Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads. This item has great synergy with Phantom Dancer, because Frozen Mallet slows them down, and Phantom Dancer makes you faster, and the damage reduction from Phantom Dancer works great with the Health that Frozen Mallet gives you.

This item is a great choice on Teemo. It makes you extremely efficient at split pushing, and also helps you deal more damage in team fights. This item has great synergy with Blade of the Ruined King because the extra bolts from Runaan's Hurricane also gives life steal, the percentage current health damage of the Blade of the Ruined King applies to Runaan's Hurricane bolts, and the percentage current health damage also applies to life steal. This gives you the ability to shred tanks and burst squishies, while also making you very hard to take down.

Guinsoo's Rageblade gives you many of the stats Teemo needs. It gives you attack speed to do more damage, ability power which makes your Noxious Trap stronger, and also flat attack damage. Buying this item makes you insanely strong. The Guinsoo's Rage passive makes all your other Item Passives stronger. It will increase the Movement Speed Slow from Frozen Mallet, increases the percentage current health damage from Blade of the Ruined King, and is a great choice overall.

Team Work

Teemo is a champ who can either solo carry games, or can be dead weight to the team.
There are many ways you can help your team as Teemo. For starters, make sure to place Noxious Trap where you think fights will happen. Dragon and Baron Nashor are great examples. Your mushrooms also provide a lot of safety for your teammates. For example, your team can get away if an enemy is chasing them and they step on a Noxious Trap. Your AD Carry will be able to kite back on to your Mushrooms. Noxious Trap also grants vision on the map. These can reveal very important details such as the location of the enemy Jungler, or when enemies are trying to take objectives. Good placement of Noxious Trap can secure kills in game-deciding fights as well. If an enemy is trying to get away and they step on a Noxious Trap, Not only will it do a lot of damage, the Movement Speed Slow will allow your team to catch up to them and kill them.

Conclusion

Teemo is an extremely fun, and versatile champ to play, even though most people do hate him. I hope this guide helps you and your future endeavors.
