Champion Build Guide

Support Utility Akali #waitsupport?

By Tauricus2017
INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone, my name is Tauricus and I introduce you my first #waitsupport? - support Akali guide! First of all this is not suppose to be any real guide or something extremely serious. This is just my guide that you can but don't have to follow. The main reason why Akali isn't played as a support is that she doesn't bring any form of CC to her ADC. This can change however. The build is aimed at utility. Everfrost allows you to slow enemies and helps your ADC to follow up. For the same purpose the build also contains Rylai's Crystal Scepter and Twin Shadows. This build also contains a heal from Redemption that can safe you or your teammates. This build maybe can seem as a troll to someone but I don't care - you can always leave. Also one note: I am not forcing anyone to play support Akali - I know that this guide is gonna have a lot of -1s because it 'makes people trollpick' and also This guide is at your own risk.
Tips and Tricks
  • You can use Redemption with Everfrost and Shuriken Flip to proc Electrocute at range. Ignite can proc it too
  • Chill ---- Raging Akali player will NEVER be as good as chilling one. Also don't be toxic and rather enjoy the game. If you will flame your ADC for every CS he/she missed you will never have as good time as you would If you would try to encourage her/him instead. So jump into the game type 'GLHF <3' in the very start, be positive, don't rage, say 'sorry' If you do a mistake, don't report players that are nice but feed,be cooperative, type 'GGWP' as you win/lose - It is only a game so Who cares If you win or lose as long as you have fun you are always a winner!!.
  • Warding is key to victory. So make sure you are constantly warding and upgrading Stealth Ward into Oracle Lens once your support item quest is completed
  • Most of Akali's power comes from her passive - make sure you are using it as much as possible.
  • Try to use Glacial Augment ice zone in jungle where pathes are slim so the enemy will have no way to escape it.
  • If you cast 2nd Shuriken Flip you can cast spells, items, wards, summoner spells as you go toward the enemy. With this in mind you can also ward the bush as you dash, Ignite the enemy before you even reach the target or stop dashing If you use Flash or Perfect Execution.
  • Akali herself is able to proc Rylai's Crystal Scepter more times then most champions in the game so make sure you use it a lot.
  • You can use 1st Perfect Execution to cancel channeling abilities.
  • Use Twilight Shroud to hide when you get hit by some CC so enemy ADC can not follow up.
  • Use Shuriken Flip To dodge skillshots or to get money from Spellthief's Edge path.
  • Make sure you use Glacial Augment passive in early game a lot. The second part of this keystone rune will be useful in mid to late game especially.
How To Proceed When Buying Items
Building items on my support Akali build is a little bit complicated. I suggest starting by Spellthief's Edge or Ancient Coin first based on enemy support's range. Then you want to upgrade them into Frostfang or Nomad's Medallion based on What path did you choose. Then you want to buy Boots and start building your core items - ( Electrocute Akali = Everfrost and then Redemption // Glacial Augment Akali = Everfrost and then Twin Shadows) Then you want to upgrade your Boots into: Once you upgraded your Boots you basically just follow builds at very start of this page as long as you don't complete the support item quest. Then go for Oracle Lens instead of Stealth Ward because your support item already provides you with wards. Then follow the build until you have 5 items + support item (2nd stage - DON'T UPGRADE IT FURTHER) + some money. Now you basically sell Frostfang or Nomad's Medallion, buy the normal item in my build, sell Oracle Lens and go back to Stealth Ward. Once you have 500 gold in full fullbuild you can also buy Elixir of Sorcery or Elixir of Iron based on If you prefer tankiness or damage more.
In Game
The early game is always different for Akali and so you have to play differently too based on situation.
  • When playing against squishy supports like Lulu or Sona I suggest going Ancient Coin path. Your job is to not get poked for 2 reasons. 1st the obvious one is to not get destroyed by their damage. 2nd the less obvious one is that they propably use Spellthief's Edge so every time they hit you with spell or autoattack they get money - less you get hit - less money they'll have - less damage they do. Their HP bars are however very low. They can be easily killed as you reach level 3. Wait for their most dangerous abilities to go on cooldown ( Whimsy, Howling Gale, Aqua Prison, etc.) and then engage. With help of your junglers you can make easy kills because of their lack of movement abilities. Also do not forget to constantly ward so you have the best vision on map possible. Later on in the game (as you reach Everfrost and Rylai's Crystal Scepter in Electrocute build // Everfrost and Twin Shadows in Glacial Augment build) you get enough power to kill most ADC's and supports with ease. Try to punish them when they are alone (most likely to do deep warding or destroying Control Wards. In late game try to play safe and be prepared to engage a while after teamfight started so when you jump into the frey they don't have much CC abilities.
  • When playing against melee supports I suggest you to go Spellthief's Edge path because it's procing is much easier If you have more range then them. Be prepared to attack them every time they go for CS with Q + unpowered AA combo so you get 2x the money from Spellthief's Edge. Most of melee supports have got some strong skillshot abilities like Zenith Blade, Rocket Grab, Death Sentence, etc.. Use your Shuriken Flip to dodge them and engage when they are off cooldown. Make sure you focus the enemy ADC and not those tanky bois. You might should consider building Void Staff later on If they have more tanks.
