Hi guys! My summoner name is ARTHEO BE^R (God King Bear). You can follow me on Twitch: ArtheoBear. Feel free join the ARMORED BEAR CLUB! I am a Volibear one trick. Welcome to my guide where I will always be updating my latest runes and builds forsolo top and jungle based on the changes League of legends makes each patch or season.

I started playing Volibear around season 2 mostly with friends and ever since I started ranked, I've been trying to improve my gameplay and strategies. I finally made it to gold rank with just playing Volibear so I hope to see how far I can continue to climb with just playing him.

I mostly play Volibear top lane because I like the challenge of 1v1 even against hard counters. I like exploring and finding ways to defeat difficult enemies. It is easier to play Volibear in the jungle , but that is kind of boring for me. I only play if I'm on a losing streak or get filled.

I'm very excited for the Volibear remake! Can't wait to play him in 2020! I hope he has more lightning in his abilities and has easier ways to reach enemies and not get kited and shot down so easy.

Early game has always been Volibear's strength and he does tend to fall of late, but it doesn't have to be that way. In the chapters below I will explain everything I know about Volibear and how you should play him in the early to late game.

SOLO TOP GUIDE



SUMMONER SPELLS


There are two ways to play Volibear solo top. All In or Quick Play. There are easy and difficult lanes. Knowing which champions are easy or difficult to lane against helps you determine what's best for you and your team.




ALL IN

STRATEGY
As long as the enemy's health is low, Ignite increases your chances to execute with Frenzy. Great vs heal champions like Garen Darius Dr. Mundo Nasus and more. Use Ghost to stick to your enemy since they usually can't Flash very far if they are slowed by Majestic Roar Best way to use this is when they are pushing the wave into your turret giving you a 12 second window before they can escape to their turret. Thunder Claws also runs for the same duration allowing you to hit more lightning.




QUICK PLAY

STRATEGY
Quick Play is used in situational matches usually against champions that have heavy CC, bind, snare, root, and gate. Flash combo with Rolling Thunder allows you to quickly jump on them after their ability goes on cooldown. Ghost is not fast enough since by the time you reach them, the ability will be back from cooldown. In order to make this work is you have to make sure Majestic Roar is up and not on cooldown. If you cannot slow them, you will have a hard time sticking to them after Flash and Rolling Thunder. Always make sure you have your abilities before using Flash.










EARLY PAYCHECKS

STRATEGY
Grasp of the Undying heals you and deals magic damage to the enemy every 4 secs as long as you attack minions it will activate. Frenzy also activates every 3rd attack, which is a great way to poke your enemy down. Demolish helps you collect gold plates from the tower. Second Wind pairs well with Corrupting Potion, Grasp of the Undying's heal, and Chosen of the Storm. Overgrowth pairs well with Sunfire Cape by wave clearing, gaining maximum health. Future's Market lets Volibear get a Bami's Cinder and closer to completing Sunfire Cape early, which gives him a huge advantage in lane. At level 5 Volibear's Frenzy deals tons of damage with health items. Having early health items puts Volibear in a good position to survive and deal damage. Buying the first item before your enemy does, guarantees a win for you lane, allowing you to split push and pressure top lane as much as you can. Keeping the enemy top laner from disrupting your team. Time Warp Tonic boost heals you and your mana, which pairs well with Corrupting Potion, Second Wind, Grasp of the Undying's heal, and Chosen of the Storm.







GRASP OF TRIUMPH

STRATEGY
Grasp of the Undying heals you and deals magic damage to the enemy every 4 secs as long as you attack minions it will activate. Frenzy also activates every 3rd attack, which is a great way to poke your enemy down. Demolish helps you collect gold plates from the tower. Second Wind pairs well with Corrupting Potion, Grasp of the Undying's heal, and Chosen of the Storm. Overgrowth pairs well with Sunfire Cape by wave clearing, gaining maximum health. Triumph restores Volibear's health after a kill or an assist. This is great vs Darius since it can help survive from Hemorrhage. Also great in team fights. Pairs well with Second Wind, Corrupting Potion, and Chosen of the Storm. It can also pair well with Spirit Visage. Coup de Grace pairs well with Frenzy and Ignite gaining extra damage when your target is low on health.







RESILIENCE & ADAPTIVE DAMAGE

STRATEGY
Aftershock increases Volibear's armor and magic resist after he immobilizes the enemy and implodes magic damage based off his % health and resists. This is ideal vs ranged champions since Volibear will not be able to take advantage of Grasp of the Undying as much as he can vs melee. Demolish helps take down towers for you and with your team. You want to collect as much plate gold from the tower early game as possible. Conditioning gives you more armor and magic resist, which increases Aftershock's resistance and burst damage. Overgrowth pairs well with Sunfire Cape gaining increasing maximum health as you wave clear. Absolute Focus pairs well with Warmog's Armor utilizing the adaptive damage above 70% health. Scorch pairs well with Aftershock's burst damage because it activates by abilities, Sunfire Cape's burn aura, Corrupting Potion's burn, and Ignite.

UNLEASH DESTRUCTION
ADAPTIVE - ABILITY DAMAGE - UTILITY

I believe that Resolve and Sorcery are made Volibear. The symbolism of both runes combined show a lightning bolt and the runes also represent the Freljord where Volibear is from.



Chosen of the Storm matches with Resolve by what it stands for "Live Forever", which is about healing and resistance. They are also both green color which makes sense why Resolve is for Volibear.

VOLISINGED WAVE-CLEARING BEAST




STRATEGY
Control your enemy's minion waves with Sunfire Cape and tanking up with Warmog's Armor and Dead Man's Plate. Volibear can now walk past the towers and clear the waves like Singed. Regenerate with Warmog's Armor and move quickly around the map with Dead Man's Plate. These items make it extremely difficult for the enemy team to catch and kill Volibear. Mid to Late game Titanic Hydra gives you more wave clear and damage from your % health. Sterak's Gage is a great late game item to sustain the enemy's damage.







Volibear requires any of these early items to help him cs under turret or split push.

Sunfire Cape and Titanic Hydra combo makes it extremely easy to push lanes and take turrets down.

Frozen Mallet and Sterak's Gage combo helps you cs in lane, but does not do well at split pushing. It does do well at roaming and invading other lanes because you can abuse the frozen paws and shield from these items and collect more gold from plates on the turrets.

Frozen Mallet and Rylai's Crystal Scepter combo makes Volibear very deadly dealing hybrid damage AD and AP. His basic attacks slow a target while his Thunder Claws slows the entire enemy team through the lightning chain.

Frozen Mallet and Warmog's Armor early will reach 3k health to activate Warmog's Heart so you can regenerate in seconds out of combat. Great for peeling, baiting, and getting back into fights.

Frozen Mallet and Frozen Heart combo makes it difficult for the adc to attack you and escape from Volibear's frozen paws.

Liandry's Torment and Rylai's Crystal Scepter combo or any other slow items will deal increase burn damage, which pairs well with Thunder Claws. This will melt the enemy team through his lightning chain.

Spirit Visage and Warmog's Armor combo gives you a lot of cooldown, which is good for your abilities especially Frenzy and Thunder Claws. Spirit Visage increases Chosen of the Storm healing and Warmog's Armor makes it difficult for the enemies when you regenerate back to 100%. The more health you have the more Chosen of the Storm heals and the more damage Frenzy will deal.

Frozen Mallet and Sunfire Cape combo of ice and fire, freezing and burning them down. Great way to stick to the enemies and deal all of the magic damage from Sunfire Cape.

Sunfire Cape and Frozen Heart combo creates an aura of fire and ice. Enemies can't attack you fast enough and risk getting burned when close.




FRELJORD ITEMS




Frozen Mallet and Frozen Heart work the best on Volibear from the Freljord and of course those delicious biscuits!

JUNGLE GUIDE




SUMMONER SPELLS

STICKING POWER


STRATEGY
The goal is to stick to your enemies when ganking applying as much slow and mobility against them with your spells and items. Ghost in with Rolling Thunder and items like Dead Man's Plate and Righteous Glory. and Chilling Smite the enemy to secure a kill or waste a spell like Flash to limit their ability to escape.


QUICK PLAY


STRATEGY
Quick play is the combo of Rolling Thunder and Flash to make an instant play or kill champions in the backline of the enemy team, which are usually AP or AD ranged. Great for dodging skill shots or CC.



GANKING & OBJECTIVES
Early game you want to gank the solo lanes mid and top at lvl 2 using Rolling Thunder and Majestic Roar. The goal is to get them to waste their spells Flash to make it easier for your allies to cs and possibly get a kill. If they do waste their Flash that gives you a 3 min window to gank again.

After your jungle item is complete, you want to set up a camp bot lane and focus on objectives of taking dragon and getting bot lane ahead.

When you gank a lane, always help push the wave and take the turret down. Collecting gold from the plates are a critical way of getting your team ahead in the game.

After dragon and bot turret is down, set up your camp top lane because you want him or her to help you with rift herald and crush the Eye of the Herald.

After that it is all about being there for the next objective, but in the mean time, pressure lanes and set up vision in the jungle to create a trap if they walk through.






NOTE: These are my recommended spells and builds to use for these rune pages. You can choose to mix builds with rune pages and use whatever spells you wish.




SPEED BOOST

STRATEGY
Predator allows Volibear charge after his target quickly with Rolling Thunder making him a very deadly predator on the rift. Ganking mid and helping your jungler in the jungle is the most effective way to use this rune. Eyeball Collection and Relentless Hunter increases your potential as you hunt.


SPELLS


STRATEGY
Ghost is the "2nd Predator" when it is on cooldown. Giving you more gank executions and sticking power. After Predator is used or stopped, you will lack the ability to keep up especially if you can't reach them with Rolling Thunder and Majestic Roar. Ghost allows you to keep if Predator was stopped. Rather than waiting for Predator's cooldown, Ghost allows you to keep ganking and it has a low cooldown compared to Flash.



BUILD

JUNGLE PREDATOR BUILD




STRATEGY
Start ganking at lvl 2 with Rolling Thunder and Majestic Roar to force some spells Flash to be wasted early to increase your team's chances of winning and getting ahead. Without their ability to escape, they can't risk going in, which causes them to lose a little cs. Your first item should be Boots of Speed when you recall. You want to start using Predator and set your camp bot lane because you don't want to risk the enemy team taking dragon. If you can get your bot lane ahead, your chances of winning the game increases greatly. After dragon is gone, move your camp to top lane. Where ever there are towers, you should set your camp there and keep the pressure there. Take the enemy's monsters and set up vision. Frozen Mallet should be your first item after jungle items. The more sticking power you have the more dangerous you are. Give their ADC a reason not to step foot out of their towers. Sterak's Gage gives you the ability to block high amounts of damage intake and dive towers. Dead Man's Plate and Righteous Glory is great for the late game when they have more items that increase their mobility.







TRIUMPH'S AFTERSHOCK

STRATEGY
Charging in with Rolling Thunder and Majestic Roar activates Aftershock giving you increase resist when you gank. The extra resist is helpful against mid and bot lane because they are usually ranged and Volibear needs more sustain when ganking. Triumph heals you when enemies are killed, allowing you to keep moving and ganking. Your goal is to tank with Aftershock and immobilize the enemy team by taking out the threat. When it comes to objectives, always focus the enemy jungler to secure your chances of getting dragon or baron.




STRATEGY
Maximizing slow and mobility with Frozen Mallet, Chilling Smite, and Ghost to make it easy to gank. Moving around the map as quickly as possible with Dead Man's Plate will help you get objectives done faster. The goal is to charge into the back line with Dead Man's Plate to their adc forcing everyone to target you, will make it easier for your team to engage. Sterak's Gage will help you stay alive longer enough to get kills. Triumph will keep in the fight! Righteous Glory is a great way to slow the front line, peel for your adc, or catch up to an enemy using the slow. Spirit Visage of course great for Chosen of the Storm and Triumph.

SUPPORT GUIDE




SUMMONER SPELLS

PRESSURE


STRATEGY
Goal is to keep the pressure on the enemy ADC using Flash for a quick play to get past the enemy support and Ghost to keep the pressure by keeping up with them. This forces them to retreat and focus on you so that your ADC has more chances to attack. Predator makes it easier to engage using these spells.


NO MERCY


STRATEGY
Ignite and Frenzy are a very deadly combo of damage, which sets up for an easy kill for your ADC. Flash if you need to kill a get away stray that your ADC failed to kill. Also good for quick plays and dodging skill shots from cc supports.










NOTE: These are my recommended spells and builds to use for these rune pages. You can choose to mix builds with rune pages and use whatever spells you wish.




SPEED BOOST

STRATEGY

Goal is to build Frozen Mallet since the ADC and support will be weak against Frenzy's damage and this will slow anyone who gets near you allowing you to peel for your ADC in team fights. Once they are stuck in your claws, there's no escape! Rest of the build is defense items of high health and resist.
