PROS
+ Very Fun to play when mastered
+ Fast Wave Clear
+ Can Punish Bad players
+ Amazing Mid Game S++ tier
+ Snowball Laner
+ Able to farm from Safe Distance if being camped

To me, Jayce stands out as the most enjoyable high-skill top laner in League of Legends. Playing as him never gets boring, especially when you consider the immense damage he can dish out. While champions like Ornn and Malphite can be challenging for him to take down, his kit still offers plenty of opportunities for outplaying opponents through his kiting and skillful execution. When playing as Jayce, each game feels consistent and you never feel like you're starting from scratch. I strongly suggest giving him a try - who knows, you might just have a blast! <(^.^)>.
CONS
- Low Range
- High Skill Cap
- Cant Autopilot
- Weak Early game
- Heavy Reliance on Team
- Easly Gankable

If Jayce falls behind the enemy team, he can have a difficult time making a comeback, which is why it's crucial to play him with a high level of strategic thinking. Avoid taking unnecessary risks without knowing where the enemy jungler is, as one death can quickly make you feel ineffective. Sometimes, you might find yourself in situations where you're getting ganked and falling behind, especially against champions like Irelia or Yorick. During these moments, it's essential to play it safe and avoid feeding the enemy team, even if it feels tedious. These types of games occur frequently when playing as Jayce, which is why he is a champion that can either be loved or hated.
Jayce is easily my favorite champion in League of Legends. In fact, he might be the only reason I still enjoy playing the game. I've invested countless hours into mastering him, accumulating over 5 million mastery points, and he remains my top pick for ranked matches. His kit is centered around outplaying opponents, and he's incredibly entertaining to play. What sets him apart from other Top Laners is his exceptional mobility, with both range and melee forms at his disposal. His poke alone can put immense pressure on the enemy team, making him an ideal solo queue pick. Additionally, his ability to control objectives with Shock Blast zoning is a game changer. With the best of both worlds in terms of melee and range capabilities, why wait to pick him?

This guide will show you step by step how to maximize your Jayce gameplay and climb the solo queue ladder, or just enjoy some laid back games with friends i know my friends love it when i play jayce with them with flexq :)
runes

Domination
Jayce could find Electrocute to be a potent rune choice due to its ability to amplify his burst damage potential, complementing his aggressive playstyle and burst-oriented combos. With Electrocute, Jayce can unleash devastating burst damage by quickly chaining his abilities together, triggering the rune's proc with a combination of To the Skies! in Hammer Stance, followed by Shock Blast in Cannon Stance, and perhaps a Thundering Blow for extra damage. This burst can catch opponents off guard, allowing Jayce to swiftly secure kills or force enemies out of lane during trades. Additionally, Electrocute synergizes well with Jayce's kit, as he naturally excels at short, impactful trades thanks to his ability to seamlessly switch between his Hammer and Cannon Stances. By opting for Electrocute, Jayce can further capitalize on his burst potential, establishing lane dominance and transitioning into a formidable threat in the mid to late game.
Jayce can greatly benefit from taking Sudden Impact due to its synergy with his kit and playstyle. Sudden Impact provides bonus lethality and magic penetration for a short duration after he uses his gap-closing ability, such as his To the Skies! in Hammer Stance or his Acceleration Gate combined with Shock Blast in Cannon Stance. Since Jayce frequently utilizes these abilities to engage, poke, and trade with opponents, Sudden Impact amplifies his burst damage significantly during these exchanges. This extra penetration helps Jayce shred through his targets' defenses more effectively, allowing him to deal more damage and secure kills more reliably. Overall, Sudden Impact enhances Jayce's dueling potential and assassination capabilities, making it a valuable rune choice for players looking to maximize his damage output.
Jayce might consider taking Eyeball Collection for its potential to snowball his early game advantages and scale into a powerful late-game threat. Eyeball Collection rewards Jayce with adaptive force for every takedown he participates in or assists, up to a maximum of 10 stacks. This bonus adaptive force translates directly into increased damage output, enhancing Jayce's ability to dominate his lane and secure kills. As Jayce excels in securing kills and assists, particularly with his burst-oriented kit, he can quickly stack Eyeball Collection, accelerating his snowball potential. Additionally, the permanent adaptive force gained from Eyeball Collection scales well into the late game, providing Jayce with a significant damage boost as the game progresses. Overall, Eyeball Collection empowers Jayce to become a formidable threat throughout the game, rewarding his aggression and playmaking ability with increased damage potential.
Jayce could find Ingenious Hunter to be a valuable rune choice due to its potential to amplify his versatility and impact in fights by reducing the cooldown of his item actives. Ingenious Hunter reduces the cooldown of Jayce's item actives for each unique champion takedown he participates in, up to a maximum of 5 stacks. Since Jayce frequently builds items with powerful actives such as Youmuu's Ghostblade, sundered sky, eclipse or even defensive options like Guardian Angel, reducing their cooldowns allows him to use these tools more frequently in combat. This increased uptime on item actives not only enhances Jayce's burst potential but also improves his survivability and utility, enabling him to make more plays and impact teamfights more effectively. Overall, Ingenious Hunter synergizes well with Jayce's itemization and playstyle, providing him with the tools to exert greater pressure on the map and secure victories for his team.
Jayce may opt for Last Stand and Presence of Mind to enhance his dueling potential and mana sustain, respectively. Last Stand synergizes with Jayce's high-risk, high-reward playstyle, granting increased damage when he's low on health, which is common in close engagements where he excels. This rune allows Jayce to turn fights in his favor even when he's on the brink of defeat, potentially securing kills or surviving encounters that would otherwise be lost.

Presence of Mind provides Jayce with crucial mana sustain during extended engagements or skirmishes. Jayce is heavily reliant on mana to cast his abilities, especially during prolonged fights or when sieging objectives. With Presence of Mind, Jayce gains increased mana regeneration upon securing takedowns, allowing him to stay in fights longer and continue dealing damage without being hindered by mana constraints. This rune ensures that Jayce can maintain his pressure on the map and contribute to team fights without the fear of running out of resources at critical moments.

Overall, Last Stand and Presence of Mind complement Jayce's aggressive playstyle by enhancing his damage output and mana sustain, respectively. Together, they enable Jayce to excel in extended engagements, skirmishes, and team fights, making them valuable choices for players looking to maximize Jayce's effectiveness on the Rift.

Inspiration
If you're an intermediate player looking to understand Jayce's power spikes, I highly recommend using First Strike as your rune. Jayce packs a punch with his skills and early itemization, making it crucial to grasp these power spikes and understand your damage output. Opting for First Strike allows Jayce to consistently scale and avoid falling behind. This rune offers the best of both worlds: 7% true damage amplification and bonus gold equivalent to a percentage (100% for Melee role / 70% for Ranged role) of all bonus damage dealt within the duration, a feature Jayce can readily exploit. However, I strongly advise using this rune once you've mastered Jayce's spacing techniques..
Jayce could find Magical Footwear to be a compelling choice due to its potential to optimize his early game efficiency and gold utilization. By opting for Magical Footwear, Jayce can save 300 gold on purchasing basic boots, allowing him to allocate his resources towards other core items more quickly. This enables him to accelerate his power spikes and increase his overall impact on the game. Additionally, the bonus 10 movement speed provided by Slightly Magical Boots complements Jayce's aggressive playstyle, aiding in his ability to maneuver around the map, kite opponents, and position himself effectively in teamfights. Furthermore, the reduced cooldown on receiving these boots through takedowns incentivizes Jayce to actively participate in skirmishes and secure kills, further bolstering his snowball potential. Overall, Magical Footwear offers Jayce a cost-effective solution to enhance his mobility and resource management, allowing him to assert dominance in the early to mid-game stages and transition smoothly into a potent late-game threat.
Jayce could opt for Biscuit Delivery in League of Legends for several reasons:

Sustain: Biscuit Delivery provides sustain in lane by restoring health and mana upon consumption, which can be crucial for Jayce, especially in matchups where he needs to poke or trade frequently.
Lane Dominance: With the extra sustain from biscuits, Jayce can stay in lane longer, allowing him to exert more pressure on his opponent and potentially secure an advantage in lane.
Mana Management: Jayce relies heavily on mana to use his abilities effectively, especially in the early stages of the game. Biscuit Delivery helps mitigate mana issues by providing extra mana upon consumption, allowing Jayce to use his abilities more liberally without worrying as much about running out of mana.
Early Game Power: Biscuit Delivery grants immediate benefits in the early game, as biscuits are available from the start of the game. This can help Jayce survive tough early matchups or aggressive opponents, allowing him to scale into the mid and late game more effectively.
Overall, Biscuit Delivery can be a solid choice for Jayce players looking to increase their sustain, mana management, and early game power in lane.
Jayce might consider taking Cosmic Insight for several reasons:

Cooldown Reduction (CDR): Cosmic Insight grants 5% cooldown reduction on all abilities, summoner spells, and items. For Jayce, who relies heavily on casting his abilities frequently to poke, burst, and control the lane, this CDR can significantly enhance his overall effectiveness, allowing him to use his abilities more often.
Summoner Spell Reduction: Jayce benefits greatly from reduced cooldowns on his summoner spells, particularly Flash and Teleport. Flash is crucial for his engage or escape potential, while Teleport allows him to impact other lanes or return to lane quickly after backing. With Cosmic Insight, the cooldowns on these summoner spells are reduced, increasing Jayce's mobility and map presence.
Item Actives: Many items Jayce builds, such as Eclipse or Profane Hydra, have powerful active abilities that can be game-changing in fights. Cosmic Insight reduces the cooldown on these item actives, allowing Jayce to use them more frequently to gain an advantage in skirmishes and teamfights.
Versatility: Cosmic Insight provides a versatile set of benefits that improve Jayce's overall performance in various aspects of the game, including laning phase, teamfights, and split-pushing. The combination of reduced ability, summoner spell, and item cooldowns makes Jayce more adaptable and better equipped to handle different situations throughout the game.
Overall, Cosmic Insight synergizes well with Jayce's playstyle, providing him with the tools to exert pressure in lane, control the map, and impact teamfights effectively.
Jayce could benefit greatly from taking Ingenious Hunter and Sudden Impact for several reasons tailored to his playstyle and kit. Ingenious Hunter reduces the cooldown of his item actives, such as Eclipse or Profane Hydra, amplifying his burst potential and mobility in skirmishes and teamfights. Given Jayce's reliance on item actives to enhance his engage and disengage capabilities, reducing their cooldowns allows him to use them more frequently, increasing his overall effectiveness in combat. Additionally, Sudden Impact synergizes well with Jayce's kit, providing him with bonus lethality and magic penetration upon using his gap-closing ability, Acceleration Gate combined with To the Skies! or Thundering Blow in Hammer Stance. This enhances Jayce's burst damage, particularly during trades and all-ins, enabling him to swiftly eliminate priority targets and exert pressure on the enemy team. Together, Ingenious Hunter and Sudden Impact empower Jayce with increased mobility, burst potential, and assassination capabilities, amplifying his impact on the battlefield and reinforcing his status as a formidable duelist and teamfighter.

Sorcery
If you are a novice, learning or striving to master Jayce, I highly recommend using Phase Rush as your rune. Jayce possesses the ability to inflict significant burst damage with his skills, especially in his ranged form. Nevertheless, he lacks mobility and is susceptible to being caught out of position by his adversaries. By opting for Phase Rush, Jayce can evade perilous circumstances swiftly or pursue opponents who are attempting to flee, making him more elusive and challenging to apprehend.
All in all, Phase Rush can prove to be a robust selection for Jayce enthusiasts who prioritize mobility and kiting potential. Nonetheless, it may not always be the optimal choice in every situation, BUT ITS THE ONE I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND TO USE ESPECIALLY STARTING OFF.
Jayce is a champion who relies heavily on mana to cast his abilities, especially in the early game. This is because his abilities cost a significant amount of mana, and he has a limited pool to work with. Taking Manaflow Band can be a good choice on Jayce because it provides additional mana and mana regeneration, which can help him stay in lane longer and use his abilities more frequently.
Furthermore, Jayce has few options for mana sustain in his kit, which makes him reliant on items like Tear of the Goddess or Blue Buff to stay topped up on mana. By taking Manaflow Band, Jayce can reduce his dependence on these items and focus on building more offensive or defensive items instead.
Overall, Absolute Focus can be a strong choice on Jayce for players who want to focus on dealing significant damage from range and finishing off opponents in the laning phase. However, it's important to note that this rune provides no benefit when the player's health is low, so players should be careful not to take unnecessary risks and should focus on maintaining their health pool whenever possible.
Gathering Storm is a late-game oriented rune that provides bonus AD as the game progresses. This can be a good choice on Jayce because he is a strong scaling champion who can deal significant damage in the late game.

Jayce's kit is designed to deal high amounts of burst damage, which makes him a threat to squishy targets throughout the game. However, as the game progresses, his damage output can fall off, especially against tankier opponents. By taking Gathering Storm, Jayce can continue to scale into the late game and deal more damage to all targets, including tanks.

In addition, Gathering Storm can be useful in games where the laning phase is extended or where there are a lot of kills and objectives being traded back and forth. If you anticipate a long game or a lot of fighting, Gathering Storm can help ensure that you are still a threat even as the game drags on.

Overall, Gathering Storm can be a strong choice on Jayce for players who want to focus on scaling into the late game and dealing significant damage to all targets. However, it's important to note that this rune provides no benefit in the early game, so players should be prepared to play defensively and focus on farming until they can reach their power spike.
Let's talk about the Magical Footwear and Biscuit Delivery runes on your Secondary page. Starting with Magical Footwear, it's worth noting that these boots are one of the best options available in the game. Many players overlook the additional +10 movement speed they provide over standard boots, which can be transferred to upgraded boots. As movement speed is crucial for Jayce, it enables him to create space and execute more plays.
Moving on to Biscuit Delivery, this rune can be incredibly useful during the laning phase as it helps you sustain in lane and be more aggressive, particularly in the first few levels. With Jayce's mana problems, this is why I always recommend this rune as it significantly helps in obtaining Tear on the first back while maintaining tempo in lane.

Precision
Congratulations on improving your skills with Jayce! You are now ready to join the big boy club by using Conqueror as your rune. Jayce's kit is designed for aggressive gameplay, primarily in lane, where he can leverage his ranged form to poke down opponents before switching to his melee form to secure the kill. With Conqueror, Jayce can inflict even more damage with his abilities and basic attacks, while also enjoying the added benefit of increased healing, which allows him to sustain himself in prolonged fights.
Moreover, Jayce's unique ability to switch between ranged and melee forms facilitates quick stacking of Conqueror, using his abilities and basic attacks in both forms to boost his damage output and potentially turn the tide of battle in his favor. As you continue to master this champion, you'll appreciate the difference between using Conqueror and Phase Rush espciaclly during the early game, and how Conqueror enhances Jayce's capabilities in the heat of combat.
Legend: Alacrity, on the other hand, provides Jayce with increased attack speed as he levels up, which helps him stack Conqueror faster and deal more damage in fights. In addition, the attack speed boost from Legend: Alacrity also synergizes well with Jayce's passive, which grants him bonus attack speed for a short time after he switches between his ranged and melee forms.
By taking both Conqueror and Legend: Alacrity, Jayce can deal significant damage and heal himself in extended fights, allowing him to sustain through enemy damage and continue to put pressure on opponents.
Overall, taking Legend: Alacrity with Conqueror on Jayce can be a strong choice for players who want to focus on dealing sustained damage and outlasting opponents in fights. However, it's important to note that there are other viable options for Jayce depending on the matchup and your playstyle.
By taking Cut Down, Jayce can deal increased damage to tanky opponents, which can help him take them down more quickly. Since Jayce has 590 health he has one of the lowest if not the lowest based health hp on top lane so why i always run this rune to maxiamize damage early on. This rune can be particularly effective when paired with Serylda's Grudge, which also provides +30% armor penetration against tanky targets.

It's important to note, however, that Cut Down is not always the best choice on Jayce. If you are facing a team with few tanks or champions with high health pools, you may be better off taking a different rune that provides more general damage or utility.
With Jayce's mana problems, this is why I always recommend this rune as it significantly helps in obtaining Tear on the first back while maintaining tempo in lane.

items

SEASON 14 ITEMS

YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH Eclipse. The item provides bonus AD and cooldown reduction, which can help Jayce deal more damage with his abilities and basic attacks. Additionally, Eclipse provides a shield and increased movement speed when you deal damage to an opponent, making it easier for Jayce to survive in fights and quickly disengage if necessary. For top lane I build this 90% of the time.
Sundered Sky This item synergizes perfectly with Jayce because it gives your first auto attack a critical strike and heals you for 140% base AD. It spikes your survivability and damage so he can last longer in fights. This is a core item for Jayce in Season 14.
Manamune Jayce's best item when fully stacked. Manamune provides a substantial mana pool and passive that transforms a portion of mana spent into bonus attack damage, helping Jayce sustain his abilities over extended periods. It is a great item because you have 5 abilities that can proc it to get maximum value.
Spear of Shojin If the enemy team is squishy, this is a good 4th item to build to stack AD and survivability. You now receive 12% AD in melee form/8% AD in ranged form which Jayce can use on all of his abilities and his passive Mercury Hammer. Build 5th after Lord Dominik's Regards if playing against a tanky comp.
Profane Hydra This is Jayce's best 5th item buy vs squishy targets (100 armor or less). It gives you the best damage for full build and synergizes great with Spear of Shojin. With Spear of Shojin's percent spell damage, Profane Hydra's active ability is amplified for more damage.
Lord Dominik's Regards Overall the best anti-armor item for Jayce at the moment. Season 14 Jayce shouldn't rely on building lethality which places this item above Serylda's Grudge. Build Profane Hydra instead if they have a squishy team. Because of the 35% armor pen, it out damages Serylda's Grudge and Profane Hydra even without the passive active.
Serylda's Grudge This is a decent 5th item for Jayce if the enemy team is squishy (less than 100 armor), but still not recommended over Profane Hydra. In Season 14 the item's armor penetation was reduced by 10%. If the enemy team is mostly tanky or stacking armor heavily, Lord Dominik's Regards is a more valuable buy. The armor pen now scales off lethality, so it doesn't really have a place in the current build path unless the enemy team is comprised of 4-5 squishies.
Black Cleaver used to be a bigger buy in Season 13 sue to the fact that it synergized with Last Whisper. Since the item changes in Season 14, we can only build one anti-armor item and can no longer build this AND Serylda's Grudge or Lord Dominik's Regards, both of which Jayce gets more value from.
Edge of Night is a great defensive item to build on Jayce. It provides a spell shield that can block enemy abilities. This item is really good into enemies with hard engage and also can help Jayce engage by blocking interrupting spells and keep him healthy during team fights.
Youmuu's Ghostblade Since the item changes, this item no longer gives ability haste and I don't recommend building it except very late game if you need to sell boots for more AD.
Guardian Angel REALLY GOOD 5th item for Jayce. It gives you a perfect defensive item, lets you go in and get that kill, and if you die with it up your abilites are still going on cooldown which will help you out when you revive from Guardian Angel.
Death's Dance ONLY WORTH IT IF AGAINST AN ALL AD COMP and should build it 3rd if that does happen.
The Collector does not have a place in Jayce's normal build path, but if you decide to go full lethality or crit, it is still an ok buy.
Navori Flickerblade Only build if going Lord Dominik's Regards or The Collector. It's a nice 2 item power spike with those. I feel like a good Jayce will auto a ton in fights and can utilize this pretty well. One of my go-to carry builds FOR SOLOQ NOT TEAM PLAY
Essence Reaver is another odd one I build 1 out of 20 games. I only build this when I see a squishy team and I want to 2 shot them with autos. Not an every game item but also not bad to build every now and then. Usually build this item when going full crit Jayce.

EARLY GAME

Safe Farmer
Harass enemy top when csing
Hard Mana Management
Map Awareness
Vision Control
Early Kills! kill bad players!!
In the early game, Jayce has several goals that he should aim to accomplish. Firstly, farming effectively is crucial for him to gain the gold and experience he needs to become strong. Additionally, Jayce's long-range poke allows him to harass his opponents and set up kills for himself or his teammates. He can also help his team gain vision control and roam around the map to assist his allies in securing objectives or kills. Objectives should always be a priority, and Jayce's poke and mobility can make him a valuable asset in taking down turrets, dragons, or Rift Herald. Finally, Jayce can also be a strong early game duelist, so securing early kills on his opponents can give him a significant advantage.
Mid Game/Late Game

MID GAME

Pressure Turrets
Secure Objective!! YET AGAIN IMPORTANT
Team Fighting
Split Pushing
Building a Lead
In the mid-game, Jayce has several goals that he can work towards to help his team gain an advantage. First, he can pressure turrets using his excellent waveclear and poke, forcing the enemy team to defend and allowing his team to secure map control and objectives. Second, Jayce can use his mobility and poke to help his team secure important objectives such as dragons, Rift Herald, and Baron Nashor. Third, he can be an effective team fighter by using his poke and burst damage to take down enemy champions from a safe distance and helping his teammates engage or disengage from fights using his acceleration gate. Fourth, Jayce's mobility and dueling potential make him a strong split pusher, allowing him to draw enemy attention away from his team and creating opportunities for his team to take objectives or engage in fights. Finally, Jayce should look to build a lead by securing kills, objectives, and gaining map control to snowball the game and help his team dominate in the mid to late game.
To succeed in the late game, it is important to follow these five tips, which are applicable to all champions, including Jayce. Firstly, stick with your team and avoid being caught out alone. Secondly, prioritize objectives over individual kills, as they become more crucial in the late game. Thirdly, play safe and avoid taking unnecessary risks, as a single death can change the game. Fourthly, maintain vision around key objectives and choke points to avoid getting caught out by the enemy team. Lastly, focus on your positioning during team fights, staying at a safe distance from the enemy team and targeting squishy champions to maximize your damage output. These tips will help you dominate the late game and secure victory for your team.
